Being the Phoenix Soldier, and Spiderman saving you from Psycho Red.

Being the Phoenix Soldier Ranger was one thing, but along the way you managed to make some very powerful enemies in your short time as a Ranger.

You helped the Cosmic Fury Rangers against Lord Zedd and his mission to destroy the earth with his Squidrills given to him my Bajillia Naire. It was fun working with a team of Rangers, but after everything was said and done, you moved to New York to help the heroes there.

The earth was home to the Power Rangers. Along with the Avengers. A band of extraordinary people that came together to protect the world. So, you were no stranger to heroes like Ironman, Captain America, or Spiderman. People like yourself just protecting your home and the people that lived in it.

Along the way, some supervillain thought you were too comfortable in your new life, so they resurrected a Ranger enemy that was very dangerous: a Psycho Ranger. Specifically, Psycho Red. Psycho Rangers were created to hunt Power Rangers by tracking their energy, voices, and communicators. They had an unbeatable battling style against the Ranger they were assigned to destroy. That's where you came in.

Psycho Red attacked you in New York. He would stop at nothing to destroy you. Every chance he got, he would attack you, and you barely escaped his wrath. And this last time, you almost didn't.

You and Psycho Red were locked in a sword match as you defended and attacked with your Phoenix sword and shield. "Hahaha! You're getting better."

"You mean I'm winning?" You asked.

"That's what you think!" Psycho Red pushed back and slashed you hard and kicked you onto the floor as you rolled. "Hahaha! Finally. You've slipped through my fingers too many times. But this time I outsmarted you. Goodbye, Ranger!" He raised his sword and swung down towards you, but something blocked his attack as you looked up to see Spiderman in his Iron Spider costume.

"Hey, Buddy. I think you've done enough rough playing don't you think?" Spiderman asked.

"You!" Psycho Red roared.

"Well, who'd you expect? Batman?"

You watched as they began to fight. Spiderman weaved and dodged Psycho Red's attacks until he shot a blast of lightning at the hero as he flew back. The evil Ranger turned to you and smiled. If he was capable of smiling. "Ah ha! Don't think I've forgotten about you, Ranger." He ran towards you with the intention of ending your life once and for all, but he was suddenly webbed up by Spiderman.

"Phoenix Soldier. Do it now!" Spiderman called.

You stood up and charged an attack as you slashed at Psycho Red until he exploded in a burst of energy. You were breathing heavily underneath your visor as Spiderman walked towards you.

"Are you okay?"

"I don't know. Everything's dark." You fell forward and would have hit your head if Spiderman hadn't caught you in his arms. You fainted in his arms. "Don't worry. I'll get you some help." He swung you back to Avengers' tower as you demorphed.

All Kyuranger does is introduce characters. I assume after we meet Houou Soldier the rest of the show will be them competing to become the jellicle choice

I was thinking about the problems with using the Kyuranger suits (Read: Hammie has a skirt and Izzy HATES skirts), and now I have the REALLY stupid/goofy idea of switching EVERYONE'S colors. Amelia's Shishi Red, Javi's Gold, Aiyon's Ryu Violet, Izzy is either Hebitsukai Silver or Koguma Skyblue, Fern is Sasori Orange, Zayto's Houou Soldier, and Ollie gets... Well, by process of elimination, that leaves Blue, Yellow, or Silver. Maybe Yellow?)

ahhh it takes me back to the height of Ameliagate.....I definitely think the Red Amelia/Beige Zayto thing wouldn't have been quite as big if she and him weren't the only ones to switch colors. (I still think Aiyon should have been yellow, though that was back when I thought the Cosmic Fury Zords would have something to do with their new powers, like some kind of idiot or something)

After Houou got his life back to normal and has been informed about what has in the last 6 months, the Autobots send more Autobots/Maximals/Decepticons/Predacons to protect the Gotchard Cast because plot Houou doesn't have anybody and also to protect the Mini-cons from getting into the villains hands. Houou is assigned Big Convoy, the One-Man Army Maximal, Silverbolt, the chivalrous Eagle Wolf Fuzor, Knock Out, the gay snobbish Decepticon medic who cares a lot about his paint job, and Sky-Byte, the Shark Decepticon poet, scholar, and brilliant and cultured military general desperate for approval. In addition to Houou, the other Gotchard Cast members get one more Autobot/Maximal and Decepticon/Predacon except Houtaro who only gets one more Decepticon/Predacon due to Soundblaster being his assigned Autobot. Houtaro is assigned Ransack, a tough-talking and straightforward warrior grasshopper Decepticon. Rinne is assigned the all female Autobot team, Torchbearers that combine to form Victorion, that consist of Pyra Magna, the thoughtful fire truck leader, Jumpstream, the loyal supercar, Dust Up, the active sports car, Stormclash, the violent helicopter, Skyburst, the merciful helicopter, and Rust Dust, the upbeat motorcycle, and the Decepticon combiner Megatronia, who consists of Megaempress and all 4 of her female guards. Spanner is assigned Scuba, the loner and skilled squid Maximal, and BW Dead End, the ideal ammonite Predacon soldier. Lachesis is assigned the Autobot combiner Elita-Infin1te, comprised of Elita-1, Moonracer, Firestar, Lancer, and Jazz, the expert Autobot who admires Earth's culture, along with the Predacon Combiner God Neptune comprised of Halfshell, the greedy-yet-generous tortoise leader, Scylla, the lovesick squid of pristine beauty, Coelagon, the wise coelacanth, Terrormander, the youthful manta ray slacker, and Sea Phantom, the tough shark with limbs who favours surprise attacks. Renge and Sabimaru are assigned the Autobot combiner of the Build Team, Landfill, compromised of Wedge the bulldozer, Heavy Load the dump truck, construction Grimlock the excavator, and Hightower the crane truck, along with Scourge, the ruthless and cunning Decepticon/Predacon warrior who looks like Optimus Prime. Also helping this group are the Spychangers, Cybertronians that specialize in espionage, Guard City, the Autobot Combiner, and Brave Maximus, the new base of operations for all of the Cybertronians assigned to the Gotchard Cast and can turn into a space ship for transport needs.

What are the Riders reaction to seeing all of these newly assigned Cybertronians going to Gotchard Cast to protect them and the Mini-cons from the hands of evil villains like Megatron or anyone else.

a sentai having two distinct reds is almost a guarantee that you're about to witness some of the most heated drama between men there is, a relationship that will embed itself in your brain for years to come, except shishi red and houou soldier because kyuranger made it a priority for all of the series' shipbait to be between a face actor and one of the aliens/robots

you want the two pretty boys to kiss? sorry he is actually married to a 35 year old blue dog man.

Toy Review: Houou Blade (Uchuu Sentai Kyuuranger)

This is the newest addition to my collection and I knew I had to review it right away, because it's such a good one.

Obviously, part of the fun right off the bat is that it's in two parts, sword and shield. There's a little lever on the sword that spins the Kyutama when either putting the sword in or drawing it out. The points of interaction are putting in the Kyutama, pulling the trigger, and sheathing/drawing the sword.

With those actions in various combinations, you get sounds for transformation, special attacks, summoning a mecha, and combining mechs. Something I also appreciated is the normal sound for a sword slash with a short pull on the trigger.

The speaker is loud and there isn't much distortion. I personally think the sound direction in Kyuuranger is really strong, so this is a big plus.

The light in the blade doesn't turn on for every sound, but it's bright enough that it really makes the Kyutama look good, especially when spinning.

Lights, sounds, and spinning all combine to give this one pretty massive kid appeal. My son had a little trouble at first, because drawing the blade requires a button on both the sword and the shield and also the transformation will fail if you don't pull the trigger long enough. But after that, he was gleefully cycling through all the sounds.

As I've discovered in this series, Sixth Ranger gear doesn't usually read the gimmick items and this is no exception. The included Kyutama is slightly nicer than a gashapon one, though.

This is also the first time I really noticed that a toy was designed for kid hands, especially with the handle on the shield. Obviously, I'm never expecting to be the intended audience for these things, but it's a reminder of how much smaller it is than the show prop. Considering how much plastic went into this (complete with soft vinyl for the sword tip, good safety feature), I completely understand.

I feel like Kyuuranger isn't super well-loved? I think it's a fun series with a lot of well designed bits and Houou Soldier is right at the front of all that. Clear some space on your shelves, but pick this one up.
