welcome back to humanized bionicles today the menu has Creepers from the Deepers (yet to be creepified), unwilling inhabitants of Australia-But-Worse's Atlantis, and flying kids who beat the shit out of each other in the heart of God
i once again used up too much space in the tags so here i am makin notes again bc im stupid
the Barraki were canonically handsome before getting locked down in Underwater Fort Knox so thats why they look like that (hopefully) look vaguely attractive
Ehlek has Big Pupils bc he has animal-like eyes (very little visible sclera) and his hair is more like lil spikes or fins he can pull up
the philosophy for Pridak was "Sidorak WISHES he was him"
i know the Mahri Nui matoran are always in bubbles but fuck it floaty hair babeyyyy
much like Voya Nui matoran they have scars from Karzhani
unlike all other matoran the Av-Matoran do share somatic traits: long noses, arched upper lips, thin eyes with flat lower eyelids, and very curly hair. they also all have a strand of hair braided
all of these traits are based on Takua/Takanuva's design here

A Bionicle Advent Calendar: December 7th (Day 7)
The Prompt: Write a story in which one of your characters is some sort of monster.
Kyrehx met the warlord, Carapar, once, in her first village, Olaha, when her home in the Southern Isles was conquered by the Barraki’s armies and added to his empire. Death was all about: Rahi and Matoran—anything that moved—and flames licking at the ruins of their homes.
Carapar was a sight to see, then: taller than a Toa, proportionate and strong, his armour glossy and polished. He wore no Mask, though he could, but his face was like that of a Great Being, with the elegant features and appearance a Matoran might expect of the Kanohi, not the Rahi-adjacent appearance of beings like the Vortixx or Steltians. There was a ruthless beauty in the destruction he wrought: an unstoppable force like a storm cresting the land.
He did not see Kyrehx, but she remembered. She lay, broken, like her home, in the wake of his departure.
~*~*~*~
She was among the last to be sent to Karzahni, and among the last to be changed there and sent to Voya Nui, and there she lived for long years, never forgetting her home in the Southern Isles. It was rare for the rebuilt Matoran to leave their village, ashamed as they were of their misshapen appearances, but it was not forbidden. After many long years, never forgetting who had broken her and made her journey to Karzahni necessary, Kyrehx went on a long journey, coming indeed to the Pit, where the Barraki were held in endless imprisonment.
It was a journey of many years, requiring all Kyrehx’s courage and fortitude, and when she came at last to the final dome, the Maxilos robots would have turned her away, but her persistence won her the sympathetic ear of Hydraxon, the chief jailer of the Pit, who above all desires justice, and he permitted that she might see Carapar.
The Barraki was still a creature of physical beauty, though his armour was dulled a little, but he was no longer ruthless and unstoppable. Kyrehx thought he looked not unlike some of her fellow Voya Nuians: hopeless, perhaps even wild. But the Barraki in the cell next to him was in full command of himself, and seemed to be entertained by their visitor: Takadox, and he was beautiful, who had always been the most beautiful of the Barraki: a melodious voice and entrancing eyes, and Kyrehx had to steel herself not to listen to any of his words, for he would have charmed her into attacking Hydraxon and giving him the jailer’s keys.
“My friend, Carapar, is so sad in this forgotten prison,” said Takadox. “It is so good of you to come and cheer him.”
“I am not here to cheer him,” said Kyrehx. “I’m here to make sure he suffers.”
Takadox cocked his head to the side a moment, then leaned toward the bars, his eyes staring into her soul.
“I promise you: he does.”
Kyrehx did not stay long.
~*~*~*~
It was a longer journey back than it had been away, but Kyrehx came eventually back to Voya Nui. She had found her home in the Southern Isles, but it bore no resemblance to her memories, and though new Matoran had found their way to settle it, it was not her community. She told them nothing of herself, but continued on, and eventually returned to the only home she had: the home of the broken in Voya Nui.
She might have been more fortunate to have lingered a few more years, for she arrived in time to be present when Voya Nui was broken away from the Southern Continent, and thrust away to become a new land of loneliness and toil, and in dogged hope she joined the settlers on Mahri Nui, glad to live amidst the sea, but this too turned to disaster, when Mahri Nui was broken from the Voyan bay and sunk deep into the ocean. Here she changed again, stronger than she had been, but part of a community with little hope, eking out an isolated life on the edge of an ocean of horrors.
With the other Matoran, she would eventually return through the Cord to Voya Nui at the guidance of the Toa Mahri, but not long after she had reached the top, as the Matoran reckon such things, she was spirited away in an instant and found herself in the presence of Hydraxon.
“Sir?” she asked tentatively, surprised and worried.
“Kyrehx of Olaha,” he addressed her, and she was surprised to hear the name of her home spoken again after so many years.
“Yes, sir?” she asked.
“I have been instructed by the Order of Mata Nui to release the Barraki Takadox and Carapar, breaking their endless imprisonment.” Though spoken in a level, near-monotonous voice, it seemed plain that Hydraxon did not approve.
“Why?”
“The Order of Mata Nui desires their services to save the universe,” said Hydraxon.
“And why are you telling me, sir?”
“Justice is not being served,” said Hydraxon. “I remember you: you came, at great cost, to see them, to see justice.”
“Am I the only one you’re asking?” asked Kyrehx.
“You’re the only one who came to the Pit,” said Hydraxon. That, somewhere in his mind was still a shadow of Dekar, who knew Kyrehx as Hydraxon knew none of the Matoran, Hydraxon did not say, nor could he had tried.
“Come,” he did say, “come and see them, and tell me if they are fit to be released.”
So, timid, Kyrehx took the air bubble he offered, and followed him through the waters to the cell where Takadox and Carapar waited, in a shadowy, distorted reflection of her last visit to them in prison. Takadox grinned at her, no longer lithe and beautiful, but angular and creepy, his once luminously-beautiful eyes turned to eerie lamps, yet he recognised her and spoke to her, and she could see that he was still in possession of his mind.
But of Carapar, she could say no such thing. If his mind was already broken when she had seen him in the Pit, now it was completely unfixable: he was a dim-witted brute who snarled at her and snuffed, and could barely string a cogent sentence together. There was no shred of the magnificent warrior who stood astride the ruins of Olaha.
“What do you think?” asked Hydraxon. “Shall I do as the Order commands and release them from the bonds of justice?”
“He’s already broken,” said Kyrehx. “Hideous.”
“They are quite the monsters,” agreed Hydraxon.
“No,” said Kyrehx, “they were always monsters. Let them out: prison preserves them. Maybe they can help save the Universe. At least they can suffer—or die—trying.”
“So be it,” said Hydraxon, and she was returned to Voya Nui, secure in the certainty that she had survived its destruction and that its destroyer had not.

The thrilling(?) sequel to Canon Appearanceless Mahritoran; Canon Nameless Mahritoran! This time, split into alive and dead because there's so many (there are more than all the named Mahri Nui Matoran characters).
No, I don't know why so many of them are Po-Matoran.
Descriptions taken from Biosector01:
"A Po-Matoran who was the leader of the Mahri Nui Council about a year before the Toa Mahri arrived, who Defilak made a submarine for."
"One of Kyrehx's former teachers; he had a hobby of carving stone replicas of Kanohi." (made him a Po-matoran because yes)
"A Po-Matoran who tried to drive the Toa Mahri away from Mahri Nui."
"A Po-Matoran who reported the disappearance of two of his friends."
A Ta-Matoran who volunteered to fight for Mahri Nui.
"A Le-Matoran who was killed by a Tarakava while testing his invention, the Air Launcher."
"Two Matoran herders killed by the Barraki's armies within six hours of each other around the time the Toa Mahri arrived." (made them Bo- and Vo-Matoran)
Three other Matoran who went missing within two weeks prior to the Toa Mahri arriving in Mahri Nui. (made them Ga-, Le- and Ba-Matoran)

The Perilous Catch
A canon-compliant, supplemental story to the Dark Times Saga, taking place in the Myths and Legacy project.
The story features the Matoran of Voya Nui paying tribute to their fallen brethren by casting off what few possessions they can spare into the Cape of No Hope. Unbeknownst to them, however, this ritual sustains the citizens of Mahri Nui, who cling yet to life in the depths of The Pit.

So, you think you’re a Bionicle fan?
Okay, spell the names of all these characters without looking them up.
( Nokama’s stalker biggest fan)
2. (Mutant cephalopod warlord)
3. (Very Trustworthy Kohlii Ball Merchant)
4. ( “ They saidI could be anyone I wanted to be... so I became everyone”)
5. ( All his friends are dead ...or evil... or both)
6. (Crab Jockey)
7. (TSO’s bodyguard, bad case of Schroedinger’s cat syndrome)
8. (“ I can Fix Him” *chainsaw noises*)
9. (#8’s cooler brother)
10. (Tentacle plant, also available in sponge form)
Comment or tag your guesses, no cheating.
This post is brought to you by the letter H.
#Bionicle#I wanted to include Kyrehx for absolute worst place to put an H but she doesn’t have a canon image

Had the thought recently that since Dekar and Defilak use the mask pieces that Norik and Iruini had, it stands to reason that if Lego had released other Mahritoran, they would’ve also drawn masks from the Hagah.
So, here’s my version of Reysa, Gar, and Kyrehx.
#bionicle#stud io renders#are these characters too minor and obscure for people to give a shit?#won't stop me

from the notes...
…Parakrekks are known to follow in the aftermath of destruction left by Protocairns, "cleaning up" the remains after Protocairns have created new landmasses. The Parakrekks species was created by the Makuta in order to take advantage of the inadvertent terraforming properties of the Protocairn species. Parakrekks typically move in and "round off the edges" of a newly created island structure, devouring any remnants of older structures/foliage/debris and preparing the landscape for re-use.
It has been suggested that Makuta Chirox was responsible for the creation of Parakrekks as an early prototype of the Visorak, which he developed later in the Eastern Corridor. This interpretation finds some support in the etymology of the name Parakrekks itself, as discussed below:
The name parakrekks appears to originate from Isolate Matoran (=Western Matoran) due to commonalities with the name-forms kyrehx (early IsMt.) and reysa (late IsMt.). The primary etymology of parakrekks is divided into two portions: parak- and rekks or krekks, from earlier *(ky)rekx "ocean, silver sea" (cf. kyrehx "ocean", reys(a) "expanse"). Parak- may itself derive from a compound assigned by the Makuta, as was common with early Rahiforms. Under this analysis, parak- is to be analyzed as a Southern Matoran form originating from earlier ?barak, either an abbreviation of *ba-dax "creature of balance/order" (with intervocalic d > r, as in the element -rak of viso-rak) or simply as a reduction/simplification of bohrok with a sense of "cleaner". Hence, parak-rekks can be analyzed as "aquatic cleaner/creature of balance", with the element (k)rekks assigned by Matoran in reference to the amphibious nature of the Rahi.
Another etymological analysis has been proposed drawing up the relation between the Protocairn and Parakrekks species and dispensing with the idea of a Makuta-assigned name, as follows:
The name Parakrekks may itself be based upon a Southern Matoran dialectal version of the word protocaer(n) (the origin of the human-language anglicized form "Protocairn"), originally a borrowing into Old Matoran from Praetar. Under this analysis, proto-caer(n) takes the form para-crae(n) in early Southern Matoran (cf. also -par in the name Carapar, also from SMt.), with dax "creature, titan" appended, as was common in the designations of non-Matoran species, followed by intervocalic d > r: *paracraerax > *parakraex > parakrekks "Protocairn-creature".
This name assignment stems from a confusion amongst Matoran populations about the origin of Parakrekks: after the destruction caused by Protocairns, the Parakrekks would arrive to sift through the rubble, and this led Matoran to believe that the two were one and the same species; the latter simply a metamorphosis of the former. The fact that the Southern Matoran form of the name became predominant in records (instead of, for example, a postulated NMt. form like *protokardax or prikardax) is simply a result of the greater prevalence of Protocairns and Parakrekks in southern regions compared to northern regions...

As others have mentioned, Kyrehx being captured by Takadox is the most traditional kind but there’s a bunch of other mind control stuff that comes close, like the Vahki’s powers.
Have Matoran ever been hypnotized?

give kyrehx a rau, make her aquaman. for gar i'd suggest a garai but that would take some effort to make look good
man
why the heck didn’t we get a solid black garai? that would be waaay easier to moc with
but with how I just imagined Kyrehx, she would just be Nokama with a tail, which I guess works, lemme dig their torsos up and get started
