10 november 2022 I BALENCIAGA - meesterlijk zwart
Zwart in kant, borduurwerk, fluweel, gedrapeerde zijde, franjes of schitterende pailletten – elk couturestuk is magnifiek uitgevoerd.’
Met een special ‘covid-proof’ cocktailjurkje (1e en 2e foto).

I went to the Gemeentemuseum (now known as Kunstmuseum) today, and I saw A. R. Penck! Love this man, absolutely fantastic. I LOVE how he was trying to create a type of painted language and was using said language to mildly mock the powers that were in his time (DDR, Soviet Union). The work is highly political, which means it’s perfect for me! I tried a little Penck myself, trying to imitate what I think is his technique (lots of paint on a dry pig bristled brush), which is pretty damn hard! I drew Miss Corona here, but it could be any subject. It’s really not easy to draw this way, and I should practice by perhaps doing some self portraits a la Penck. #arpenck #gemeentemuseum #kunstmuseumdenhaag #misscorona #styleexercise #conceptart #sketch #sketchbook #acrylicpainting #drybrush #drawing https://www.instagram.com/p/CByEJyzlYc8/?igshid=185fgf0f0dabt

'Life within the Five Walls. A Handbook to Deir el-Medina', from Benedict Davies."
"For the greater part of the Egyptian New Kingdom, the settlement of Deir el-Medina was home to the families of the royal artisans who were tasked with the excavation and decoration of royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. Making full use of the extensive material remains and the thousands of documentary texts that have been preserved both at the village and the royal work sites, this Handbook explores the methods used by the workmen in the design and creation of exquisitely-crafted tombs for their royal masters, as well as revealing the minutiae of everyday working life in the royal necropoleis of the Ramesside period. It also draws on this remarkable treasure trove of documentation in order to delve deeply into the colourful world of life within an ancient Egyptian community. It presents a society in microcosm, founded upon a highly developed system of personal piety and spirituality, an incredibly intricate and thriving network of personal business dealings, and a local legal system designed to dispense justice when the moral code was deemed to have been violated. Also featuring in this book are many well-known personalities whose actions — both good and bad — are indelibly etched on the history of the village. Comprising essays on over one hundred and twenty topics — each furnished with explanatory notes and a handy bibliography — this Handbook is intended to serve as an essential research and educational tool. It will appeal to a wide spectrum of users — including Deir   el-Medina specialists, scholars of the social and economic history of ancient Egypt, and students alike."

AUTHOR: Brady Wagoner, Aalborg University, Denmark DATE PUBLISHED: January 2019 AVAILABILITY: Available FORMAT: Paperback ISBN: 9781108729697
The Constructive Mind is an integrative study of the psychologist Frederic Bartlett's (1886–1969) life, work and legacy. Bartlett is most famous for the idea that remembering is constructive and for the concept of schema; for him, 'constructive' meant that human beings are future-oriented and flexibly adaptive to new circumstances. This book shows how his notion of construction is also central to understanding social psychology and cultural dynamics, as well as other psychological processes such as perceiving, imagining and thinking. Wagoner contextualises the development of Bartlett's key ideas in relation to his predecessors and contemporaries. Furthermore, he applies Bartlett's constructive analysis of cultural transmission in order to chart how his ideas were appropriated and transformed by others that followed. As such this book can also be read as a case study in the continuous reconstruction of ideas in science.
The first integrative account of Bartlett's work and legacy, situating his celebrated 'reconstructive' theory of remembering within a broader framework Provides a powerful theory of cultural transmission and transformation, as well as a methodology to study it Offers a fascinating account of psychology (and to some extent anthropology) at the University of Cambridge from the late-nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century

28 maart 2022 I Paula Rego - Kunstmuseum Den Haag
Paula Rego (1935).
