Chung Choon Kitchen, 928 S Western Ave, Ste 132, Los Angeles (Koreatown), CA 90006
Tumblr media
Chung Choon Kitchen has a stall in the Koreatown food court. They serve pizza (including Korean pizzas like bulgogi, butter garlic potato), pasta (including kimchi & rose pasta), sides, soft serve ice cream, and drinks.
They had two soft serve machines but one wasn’t on. A cup is $4 with a choice of two flavors, original milk and strawberry. I also spotted some toppings: cornflakes, waffle cone tips, marshmallows, Oreos, sprinkles, etc.
Strawberry ice cream ($4) with matcha powder: It was firm, smooth, and icy, but with enough dairy in it that I could tell that it was dairy-based. The strawberry flavor was pleasant but the iciness made it seem more like ice milk than high quality soft serve ice cream.
3 out of 5 stars.

Koreatown Plaza, 928 S Western Ave, Los Angeles (Koreatown), 90006
Tumblr media
Koreatown Plaza is an indoor mall in Ktown. There are three levels and most of the spaces are occupied by Korean businesses. Even the bank is Korean. Tenants include H Mart, spas, vitamin store, photography studio, luggage store, jewelry store, furniture stores, 15 clothing retailers, toy stores, and kiosks too. I’ve never heard of any of the clothing retailers (they’re targeting Koreans) but the clothing is mostly for women.
The best parts are the large International Food Court (mostly Korean food but they do have a pho and sushi place) and H Mart. There are also 4 bakeries, a Chinese Korean restaurant, and a coffeehouse.
The mall looks its age (it was built in 1988). They added plants and trees but the place still looks dated. It has its own parking (free parking for three hours with validation) and multiple security guards. The air conditioning doesn’t seem to reach to top levels.
The food court looks old too, but it’s popular and every stall is occupied. They recently added a Pinkberry vending machine!

Chim with Jees tea parties would be like those people who get SUPER into murder mysteries and create those dinner things that turn everybody against each other lol. Also let my man into Koreatown I would die for Jee to be able to explore things like Korean/Korean American culture and LA has one of the biggest Ktowns!
Chimney setting up an elaborate tea party for his daughter, complete with teddy bear murder mystery subplot would absolutely fix me. You KNOW he and Maddie would go all out with painted nails, pinkies out, hors d'oeuvres, the works.
And GOD what I wouldn't give for Chim to mention anything about Korea outside of whenever his dad shows up to be a dickwad. I feel like there is definitely a possibility Chim and his mother lived/had friends who lived in Koreatown in LA, and I hope we get to see him speak Korean (OR TEACH JEE SOME KOREAN!!) at some point in the show.

FebruarOC - Quin
My other brand new character, along with Horatio, created with the express purpose of having some pining fae prince + bodyguard content. However I know even less about Quin than I do about Horatio. The problem with creating characters 1) out of spite 2) just to play around with in a sandbox is that it makes it real hard to force yourself to sit down and figure something out. At least for me -- there's less of a motivation since it's not for anything except my own amusement.
SO! Let's uh, make some stuff up I guess!
The most important thing to make up is: HOW DID THEY MEET and WHY IS THEY LIKE THIS?
Easiest answer is that like, Quin's family is just one of the vassals of the seelie king, and Quin got the lucky job of being assigned as bodyguard to the prince. (What does being a vassal of the seelie king based out of LA mean? are you in charge of like, San Fernando Valley? Do the dukes of Fashion District, Flower District, and Jewelry district all duke (🥁) it out because their neighborhoods are so close together and bleed into one another??? Are Chinatown, Little Tokyo, KTown, Historic Filipinotown etc etc run by delegates of their own respective countries? Or is it done based on lines of governmental districts?? oh bOY) SO MAYBE NOT A VASSAL, that's too loaded a question for me to figure out.
Quin's parents working as part of the king's court. Okay, easy.
So what is it that makes Quin get picked? There's the possibility that there was like, a contest and he won? Or it was used as a punishment for his parents? It could even have been a punishment for Quin, if I want to rip the bodyguard plot from my SignetEcho fic LMAO He was caught doing A Crime and was given the opportunity to do fae jail time or serve as the prince's bodyguard? Either of those two brings in tension -- though I think that his parents being punished is the better option because it can bring on the difficulties of Quin having been lied to about the reason is there and blaming Horatio -- even if Horatio was unaware. We'll go with that!
Quin, under the impression that he was chosen for idk like good grades and and performance at school or whatever the fuck the other kids in his generation were doing, was assigned to be the prince's bodyguard in secret punishment to his parents by sending away their eldest son for something they did. I'll figure that out later, it's not important right now.
I think generally, he does enjoy working with Horatio, even if sometimes the prince (and the political scene in general) can be exasperating.
His drabble is also part of OC Kiss Week, so you'll find that in a separate post!
PS: full disclosure, when i'm plotting his relationship with Horatio, I may or may not be rotating this post in my head at WARP SPEED.
