Reveal Your Bollywood Glow: Unveiling Celebrity-Inspired Skincare Secrets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This blog is going to be all about Indian & bollywood inspired products and skincare tips. If you also want a blog separately about Indian natural and authentic skincare or hair care I'll surely make it. 🫶
Know Your Skin Type : Identify your skin type - whether it's oily, dry, combination, or sensitive - to tailor your skincare routine effectively.
Cleanse Like a Star : Use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil or Neutrogena to remove dirt and makeup and a oil cleaner is a must if you wear makeup daily. Opt for micellar water for a quick and effective cleanse on busy days. (But I don't really recommend it).
Exfoliate for Radiance : Incorporate a mild exfoliator like St. Ives Apricot Scrub or The Body Shop's Vitamin C Glow-Revealing Liquid Peel to slough off dead skin cells and reveal glowing skin. And my personal favorite coffee scrub from The Bombay shaving company. Don't exfoliate more than twice a week.
Hydration Is Key : Use a hydrating toner such as Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray for an instant boost of hydration or toner + mist from pilgrim works like magic (my fav 😭).
Targeted Treatments : Include a serum with ingredients like hyaluronic acid (for hydration) or vitamin C (for hyperpigmentation) if you are under 17 or 18 like me don't use vitamin c or if you want to use in very less %, I use 2% kojic acid for my uneven skin tone from pilgrim, it's very begniner friendly. (Always consult a dermatologist for your skincare don't go around seeing videos on insta and YouTube believing them). I recommend Minimalist if you want chemical bases serums.
If you are above 23 or 25 Incorporate a retinol-based cream like RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream for anti-aging benefits. (Got this tip from mumma for y'all 😭✨️)
Sun Protection Essentials : Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, such as La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra Light Fluid, to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. More affordable and effective sunscreens from brands — dot and key, aqualogica, Dr. Seth and wish care.
Overnight Nourishment: Use a hydrating overnight mask like Laneige Water Sleeping Mask to replenish moisture while you sleep. Incorporate a facial oil like The Ordinary's Rose Hip Seed Oil for added nourishment and radiance.
DIY Treatments Inspired by Bollywood:
- Try a turmeric, gram flour and yogurt face mask inspired by Priyanka Chopra for glowing skin.
- Use aloe vera gel like Deepika Padukone for its soothing and hydrating properties. (MY fav bolly actress btw 😭❤️)
Lifestyle Tips for Healthy Skin : Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day people are not stupid that they are going around telling you to drink water, IT'S A MUST!. Incorporate antioxidant-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, and green tea into your diet for overall skin health.
Some of my fav brands (mostly available in india) : dot and key, Foxtale, pilgrim, minimalist, st. Botanica, organic harvest and aqualogica!
Fav brand released by a bollywood actress: Hyphen by Kriti Sanon, their lip balm can even beat Rhode's lip balm istg- and their sunscreen 🔛🔝.
Channel your inner Bollywood diva and achieve a radiant, flawless skin with these skincare tips and product recommendations. Let your skin glow like a star!

incoming rant: the robotification of women
teri baaton mein aisa uljha jiya (2024) is among the latest movies in the genre of science fiction romance. it reminded me of an old itv show bahu hamari rajnikant (2016) , while i wasn't an avid watcher of the latter, i knew of it's existence. why did it remind of that particular sitcom? well, mainly because of the comedy. but it also reminded me of similar themes in english movies like ex machina (2015), wifelike (2022), archive (2020) and her (2013), which is surely a bit far fetched considering that in her, the ai never had a body. only a voice.
here, i think it's impertinent to also acknowledge male robots in indian cinema, like chitti from robot/enthiran (2010) and g.one from ra.one (2011) even though he wasn't an actual robot? i don't know if he classifies as one. so let's say, non-human, programming-based male entity (nhpbme). similar to samantha in her, a non-human, programming-based female entity (nhpbfe).
so yes, while male robots and nhpbme do exist in the sci-fi romance genre, it's the comparatively larger robotification of women that feeds the male gaze, and the patriarchy by an extention— which is ultimately problematic.
coming to the movie that i actually want to discuss, kriti sanon's sifra, in tbmauj, is the perfect lover, perfect bahu. why? she knows everything aaru (shahid kapoor) likes and wants. she has no chik-chik or tantrums like other girls. she can make cuisines from all around the world, can access everything on the internet quickly. she has perfect skin, perfect hair. probably doesn't age too. she is the dream girl of a typical man. she doesn't have her own opinions or problems, she serves him and him alone. no family of hers to care about, she can care about his family and their needs. the female gendering here acts like objectification.
the worst part of this movie was that it didn't do anything? since it was a comedy, it didn't delve deeper into the nuances of increasing technological reliance that humans have. i think it was probably meant as a warning— when sifra malfunctions and starts executing tasks that were deleted. but even at that, it fails because urmila's (dimple kapadia) company (so intelligently named) e-robots/robotex (something stupid like that), ends up launching her along with few other robots. only adds a dialogue which meant that you need to handle these robots responsibly. then, what was the point of all the testing they tried to do? placing her in different environments like india, when they don't really end up rethinking the whole idea or putting in more safety features? of course, there's no deeper meaning here. indian comedies don't really have subtext.
but it's perpetuates the same old concept of subservient women. rule-followers and caregivers. an image etched in stone. why do women ask– what do men want? men want this, an ideal version. have always wanted. fuelled by the unrealistic p*rn depictions. do they ever think what women want? aaru so casually tells off his friend who has a wife to look at how pathetic his own life is. he defends sifra's un-emotional response to a situation by attacking his friend's relationship asking if human women are any better?
it reminded me of wifelike (2022) where female robots are curated according to a person's need, a replication of their dead spouse. to love them, to serve them, to help them come out of grief. it's so funny to me how in tbmauj, sifra is shown to retain her feelings, getting jealous when aaru interacts with another woman despite getting reprogrammed; compared to how in wifelike, the robotic version of the human it was based on, always ended up leaving the husband because the human version never loved him.
isn't it interesting how female robots instantly get sexualised, and are depicted doing things that one would never ask their girlfriend or wife to do? these robots happily perform roles that are stereotypically feminine, wife-like. they're invented to put aside their feelings (if they have them) to take care of their human partners'. sifra cooks perfect food, emphasized by how many time aaru fired his maid for not cooking things the way he likes it. she probably doesn't have mood swings from periods because she's a robot. she doesn't eat, doesn't get out of shape. and most importantly, she doesn't age (cue: i'll get old but your lovers stay my age). as if the expectations from women aren't enough, that they're required to age gracefully, or best option— not age at all.
if you still don't get it, let me remind you how siri and alexa also end up on the same side of gender spectrum— female.
so the message is, guys, don't give up on your dream girl! you'll surely find a robot that satisfies all your needs! 🙄
men want perfect women, but women can't be robots. let's stop perpetuating the same image and setting unrealistic standards. real humans have real problems, deal with them.

Crew: Kareena Kapoor & Tabu's Refreshing Take on Ageism in Bollywood
In the world of Indian cinema, where age often seems to be a taboo topic, “Crew” emerges as a breath of fresh air. Starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Tabu, this film challenges the norms and stereotypes associated with aging in Bollywood.
Tumblr media
One of the standout scenes in “Crew” mirrors a moment from last year’s blockbuster “Pathaan”, where Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan discuss mortality and age. But here, it’s Kareena and Tabu who steal the show, owning their age and laughing about ageism. It’s a scene that resonates deeply, questioning how long actors can sustain their stardom as they approach 60.
But it’s not just about wrinkles and crow’s feet. “Crew” delves deeper, addressing the challenges faced by actresses in an industry where looks often overshadow talent. Kareena and Tabu’s characters, air hostesses navigating life’s turbulence, break free from the constraints of conventional beauty standards. Kareena’s response to Tabu’s quip about makeup being no time machine is a refreshing moment of self-awareness.
What sets “Crew” apart is its refusal to adhere to the typical “message” formula of women-centric films. Instead of being burdened with delivering a moral lesson, the characters are free to just be themselves. Kareena’s Jasmine is unapologetically ambitious, willing to bend the rules to achieve her goals. And the audience cheers her on, embracing her flaws and vulnerabilities.
In a genre dominated by men, “Crew” gives actresses the space to shine. Kareena, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon walk the fine line between ambition and greed, portraying women who are real and flawed, yet unafraid to take control of their own destinies.
“Crew” may have its flaws, but its portrayal of women breaking free from societal expectations is a welcome change in Bollywood. It’s a reminder that age is just a number, and true empowerment comes from embracing who you are, wrinkles and all.

Wildly fierce, and impossibly audacious Naila has always been a contrarian, while she never strayed from her literary, language and culture studies she never had much love or affinity for the arts. From a young age she had an innate fascination with the physical pursuits her brothers were encouraged to. Cemented especially by an incident in the women’s palace when she was very young where a small group of radicals invaded in the dead of night. The panic and terror she felt and saw reflected in the older women around her that deemed themselves completely helpless to do anything for their own protection in that moment solidified in her mind that it was simply ludicrous that she be excluded from the physical pursuits her brother and other young noble men were trained for, as she never wanted to be in that position again, where she was solely reliant on another for her protection.
She was ten years old when she started to train with swords, and has since honed her skills with not just her favored talwars but other knifes and weapons as well. Given that most instructors would constantly turn her away on account for her gender and position, Naila had always sought out the lower ranking members of court along with some commoners even, and as she grew older this allowed her to have a keen sense for the needs and struggles of the lower class. Always having been more mathematical inclined she began to take interest in the economics and commerce within Delhi fighting for several policy changes that impact the daily life’s of the citizens of their empire.
The death of her younger sister hit Naila just as hard as it did the rest of her family, her sister was everything that she wasn’t but a constant reminder of what she should aspire too, to soften her edges, be kinder with her words, and dampen her temper. Having been fiercely protective of her youngest sister Naila feels a sense of overwhelming guilt, and anger over not being able to save her sister. The mystery surrounding her death had encompassed her entire being, and she was not in favor of traveling to France to escape their grief, she much rather have stayed home to investigate the incident further. However, sending the rest of her family off into the lions den alone was also not an option, so she begrudgingly made the trip to France.

kashvi saxena is a london native, and pearce callahan's ex-wife who is in town seeking another divorce from the man seeing as the first never was filed. she's currently 35 years old and has only been here for about two weeks or so. she is a pr consultant who is looking to acquire two businesses on her own in town, wanting to put her skill and knowledge into making money for herself. she has a very prominent accent and has travelled across europe quite extensively. she's an independent woman who is looked to close off one chapter of her life, looking forward to newer and better things.
BIOGRAPHY:
Kashvi Saxena was born to a perfectly upperclass family in Hampstead in London. She was the third and last child born after two older brothers who not only doted on their only sister but also pestered her to no extent. She was a studious young girl, finding freedom in books and allowing them to sweep her into the vast knowledge they provided. Her brothers had down the correct route of choosing their careers, one choosing to become a doctor and the other an engineer which left the third profession in the accepted trifecta to fall to her—becoming a lawyer.
Kashvi was not good at arguing or confrontation since a very young age. A part of that was due to having others speak for her. She was content always to hide in the shadows of her siblings and allow them to speak and choose for her.
It was only when she decided to choose a career that she first stood up to her parents for the first time. She would not be lawyer, nor would she choose the medical field or engineering like her parents wanted. Instead Kashvi opted to get her degree in the arts, a field that did not surprise her parents or herself. But she thrived, she enjoyed being able to write and read to her heart’s desire. She was so determined that this was the career path for her.
But while her academic future was looking bright, her personal life was doing even better. Because she met the love of her life, Pearce Callahan during this time. Pearce was older to her by five years, but all that seemed to fade away when they were together. She had been supportive of his move from the world of writing to psychology, not missing the joy it brought to him when he spoke about how much he wanted to help people. He truly swept her off her feet and as her first real relationship—it was everything Kashvi had ever dreamed of or read of in her books.
Pearce had been the perfect husband, allowing her to continue her courses the best she could but given how quickly they’d had their nuptials, much to the disapproval of her family—she felt like she needed to take a step back and try earning some money for their family instead.
It was during this time that she discovered her love of marketing. Kashvi had started small, helping local mom and pop shops put their name out there and drive in more business but slowly she began getting recognition for it and thus began her official career as a freelance marketing consultant.
Kashvi would help whoever she could in assisting them to have a bigger reach with their shops and brands and it was during this time that she met Ali Sharif again. Ali had been someone she’d known since she was a child. Apparently Ali’s grandparents and hers had been friends since they were young, living side by side and thus—their fathers too became friends and ultimately so did the kids. Of course Ali was closer to her brothers and while Kashvi had always admired him she’d never really thought much of it.
But upon his return to her life, a widower who was just staring his own coffee shop, Kashvi had felt those familiar flutters she’d recalled having when she was a mere teenager. Ali to his part had always been respectful with her and Kashvi had made it known from their initial meeting that she was married and living a good life with her husband despite his sometimes long hours. But she didn’t fault Pearce for that—how could she when he was doing all this for their future?
However Kashvi’s heart didn't listen to her head at all and she began developing real feelings for Ali through the course of all their professional interactions. Business meetings, turned into dinners. Events turned into private moments where they spoke for hours and hours.
Kashvi Callahan may not have crossed any physical lines with the man but given all the time she was spending with him—it was almost written in the stars that Pearce would begin to grow suspicious. But Kashvi fully defended herself, proclaiming to him over and over that nothing ever happen but after a few such incidents—clandestine moments that Kashvi should’ve stopped from happening…Pearce refused to believe her anymore.
He decided to officially hand her a divorce and given how futile she knew it was to fight with him once his mind was made up, she’d signed the papers and sent them off to his lawyer, not even bothering to retain a lawyer for herself.
This would prove to be her biggest mistake. She’d believed that the divorce would be appropriately handled on his end and never thought about checking the paperwork herself ever again.
Kashvi continued on in life, building up a good name for herself. Promoting different companies and brands through the years allowed her the chance to travel through Europe frequently as well and she was living what she’d call a charmed life.
But the charm came to a stop when she decided to use these skills she possessed and open her own businesses in London. She had found a beautiful bookshop and had been applying for the loan when all of a sudden the banker she was dealing with gave her the shocking news. ‘Upon pulling your credit Ms. Saxena, it looks like you’re still married. We could not find a divorce agreement in the database.’
Needless to say that she was absolutely shocked. It had been over ten years but in the UK there was no law that stated after a certain period of separation that a pair was legally divorced which was what had her finally seek him out. She’d tried reaching out to the lawyer he’d used when he’d sent her the papers but the individual had been no help.
And so that is what brings her to Wilmington, to find her ‘husband’ and officially get the divorce she thought she had gotten ten years ago.

"Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya" is a captivating Bollywood movie that presents an unconventional love story set against the backdrop of futuristic technology. The movie follows the journey of Aarav, played by Shahid Kapoor, a young man whose life takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with Naina, a humanoid robot portrayed by Kriti Sanon. As Aarav and Naina's relationship develops, the movie explores the complexities of human emotions, the essence of love, and the boundaries between man and machine. BLURB
you have always seen through the darkness with eyes bright and discerning, right to the core of the values of the world and the people in it and their elements speak volumes at times on who they are and you listen. you listen and you record and in the end you will sit there with the knowledge of not only exactly who YOU are but who everyone else is as well.

CONNECTIONS
hesperus ↪ up life is more than just this you two are family. blood drawn and blood given between the two of you through your lives. siblings of some repute who have a reputation for working well together but you have the slight edge over hesperus in the eyes of most. where they are clumsy you are grace, but you never let anyone say an unkind word about them and dare anyone to say it in front of you.
boreas ↪ up in the air you don’t go out of your way for anyone, really. it’s just not safe to put yourself out there like that, especially with the fact that you have an uncanny knack to see to the heart of people. with boreas though, there’s a kinship. you feel something for them that isn’t necessarily good or bad but deeper than that, on a spiritual level. you have never given this feeling voice because it isn’t necessary but they still draw your eye.
calliope ↪ i see you you see through them, but that doesn’t mean they’re bad. they are a ray of sunshine, no doubt, and you recognize that in your bones, but you also see the power in them that they hide. the two of you have wound up together on multiple occasions and through shared smiles and furtive glances you feel like perhaps they can see you as well.
cassiopeia ↪ little white lie a member of the covenant who has a magnetic attraction to you — and trouble — and you see them for who they are. the charlatan who is not always attempting to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes but does so anyway. they think it’s easier to be hated than judged so they hide everything good about them beneath the bravado but you see them. you see them completely.
caeneus ↪ stars in his eyes you've known them all your life, seen what they've grown into and envied them to some degree. you wanted what they had, a mixture of hardness and softness and honestly it is the first time you'd ever felt envy; you didn't like it. instead of letting it fester, or in an attempt to sway it, you struck up conversations that led to a friendship that you cherish but... is it for the right reasons?
