Fansubs released for Geografens testamente (the Geographer's Testament), seasons 1 and 2!

Summary: Holger is just an ordinary factory worker who's never left his home town. One day he hears about the death of a famous geographer and is astonished to hear that she left him something: a riddle hinting at the location of something valuable. The local shop owner/eccentric engineer Mortensen manages to convince him that they should search for it together... But their pleasant treasure hunt soon turns into a matter of life and death - not just for our heroes, but for planet Earth itself.

(So yeah, it's an edutainment show that's been nominated twice for the national award "Kristallen" within the category of "Best Children's Show". It was still weirdly compelling to me as an adult, so here you go.)

This is one of those works with riddles, wordplay, and riddles involving wordplay... I've tried my best to force words into the right shapes, but was still forced to add translators' notes in some scenes where I genuinely couldn't think of a single replacement that made sense in context.

The Swedish subs also had several noticeable errors (especially in the first season, but other seasons misspell character names from time to time); hopefully all of these should be fixed in translation.

In terms of location names, I'll admit that my handling of these is inconsistent. For instance, I had decided not to refer to the provinces of Sweden by their Latin names, but when the second episode featured the adjective "skånska" (referring to things from Skåne/Scania) I couldn't figure out how to conjugate it in English with "Skåne" as a base and had to translate it to "Scanian" anyway.

Unlike my previous translations I decided not to use [brackets] whenever people are speaking in a language other than Swedish - it happens a lot later on.

... Unfortunately I'm already burned out on the project and would like to move on to other things, so no fansubs are planned for seasons 3 and 4. On the other hand the first episode of season 3 does have official subs in English, so let's hope they don't just leave it at that.

What awards do you think yr could be up for this year? Do you think they might have a shot at kristallen? 😍

They will probably be nominated but last year Netflix picked other candidates for best actor and supporting actor but I think all of the actors killed it this season so they all deserve a nomination.

I hope they will get nominated at the very least!

Aslo Elle Galan takes place 19 of April and I expect Omar to be ranked top five for best dressed man. I don't think anyone has back to back so I don't expect him to win again but he should definitely be high up there.

I hope they can both go!

When they won Kristallen from S1. That was so fun. And the bonus prize at the end no one understood what was happening. The most prestigious prize chosen among only the winners of the award show. So they beat all the other shows with that win.

Realistically? No.... I'm not even sure YR will be nominated tbh. Maybe as favorite program. I think if they wanna honor YR as a concept (as they should), they will do it next year when it's all over.

😭 I knew you’d bring up Kristallen last year, that was a sad event for E on so many levels. I’m sure they were broken up at that time and he felt like shit, he was off in Gåsmamman promo etc, and maybe as well sick with a fever or whatever.

And something was so off with Omar not answering questions about E with “he’s home with a cold”, instead making cheeky jokes about E. Omar, that sweet considerate guy that reassuringly said “that’s okey” in the Duo live, when E said his ADHD was kicking in. Weird.

I just wish people had the same enthusiasm to vote for Omar to get an award and appreciation as people have for YR nomination for Kristallen. I know many people vote for Omar and it was a great achievement getting him nominated. But he has done so much for so many and for YR and would be so beautiful if people gave back to him as him as well and not just YR. If you get my point. I know it’s different settings, one is for his music and one is the show YR and many people involved and some enjoy his music and others don’t. But still, just to give him a thank you and show him appreciation?

I don’t know. I understand people move on and also some don’t care for him or his music but he has just given us all so much. As a person and as an actor. And artist. What would YR be without his singing? I know many do support him but seeing the engagement for Netflix nomination voting just made me feel a tad sad people don’t want to show Omar that individual appreciation. I don’t think they should if they don’t want to and no one should feel obligated or feel bad for not voting. I just wish more people took the chance and that they wanted to give back to him. I know this is silly and I know he feels all the love from the ones who do support him.

Based on notifications a lot of people care about Omar’s Rockbjörnen nominations. Kristallen was one post and Omar had several.

Omar has a strong and fierce fan base on tumblr and let’s not forget notes are not everything. People reblog, don’t vote or vote one time, or people do not reblog and vote for Omar on four accounts.

First of all we do not know Bill so it's hard to say he seems like sth, cause that doesn't mean he's really like that! I PERSONALLY believe he loves fatherhood and he loves his kids! Even in his old interviews he said he wants to have his own family and his own kids. I believe that he loves fatherhood! I PERSONALLY believe that Oona was a surprise but the 2nd and the 3rd kid were planned ( Alida's age is a consideration if they wanna have more than 3 like Per or Stellan! )

But tbh, the fandom is sick too! When Bill talks about A some say he's lying, or A made him to do it so like when he thanked her and said "i love you" to her in a video from 2022 in kristallen awards. But when he doesn't say anything, people keep saying why he doesn't say anything about her! Why? U think why? It's his fandom, after all, he knows what's going on here. If i was Bill, I'd never like to talk about my personal life anymore cause of some sick weirdos and stalkers in this fandom. Yeah people are allowed to have their opinions but that doesn't make it the truth, this goes for both sides.

There's a bit of hypocrisy when it comes to her. If she doesn't do it it's suspicious or they get mad and then when she does it they still get mad LOL 🤷‍♀️

I actually like when he talks about his kids, it's nice to hear that side of him. But I can understand if he ever stopped doing that.

"It’s gonna be so much fun going to Kristallen tonight to celebrate the Swedish TV and series industry with my co-workers. Last year I found out a few days before that me and Rojda wouldn’t be allowed to get on stage to receive the award with our co-workers if we got it and it made me sad. Was on vacation with my family and had planned to get back home earlier to go [to Kristallen] but instead, we canceled. That might seem like I am spoiled and rude to think this is a big deal, be since Kristallen is the closest thing we have to the Emmy or BAFTA gala, there are no categories for script, direction, editing, score, sound, etc that highlight everybody working behind the camera to create these shows that puts Sweden the the map culturally - but only wide categories so it’s no wonder one reacts. I saw a few male directors who sat by the nominees and were not executive producers on “their” shows so there seems to be a double standard.

I also want to add that this is not about me thinking I or anyone else should be treated differently. And I understand there’s no easy solution for Kristallen, either we should have a show-gala similar to Guldbaggen (another Swedish award show, for films) where there are specific categories or you could be alternating between the years who gets to go up and receive the award. But the general rhetoric in Sweden that the audience doesn't care who works behind the camera sounds very much like the attitude around women’s football when I was a kid. If we don’t highlight that then of course no one will have a favourite scriptwriter or director like the audience in other countries does. It’s not so strange that we have such a low standard of cultural discussion around Swedish shows in Sweden."
