Love Next Door
Tumblr media
I loved this shot - giving thriller vibes
Tumblr media
Finally we got to see how their relationship came to an end. I liked how they showed it, it felt true to the story, something we could see happening in real life and no matter how much its hurts, its still the truth.
Tumblr media
I felt soo bad for him. But the dialogue where he says, no matter how much i like you, you don't get to tell me how i feel for you.
It hits different, ngl It hits hard.
Tumblr media
Kill Me Now, Ahhhhhhhh I can'ttt
Cryinggggggg
I can only imagine how hurt both of them must have been, and for her to go through all of that just unbelievable.

The 8 Show
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
The 8 Show (2024, South Korea)
Director & Writer: Han Jae Rim (based on the webtoons by Bae Jin Soo)
Mini-review:
Well, that was a ride. It wasn't perfect by any means, with its main problem being an incredibly uneven pacing, but I just couldn't stop watching. The cast is amazing enough to keep you hooked. In particular, Chun Woo Hee seemed like she was having the time of her life playing her role. But one thing's for sure: this show is not for the squeamish. I didn't expect it to take things so far, to showcase such cruel and mean types of violence. While I guess that was sort of the point, it's so unsubtle that the main themes of the story tend to get lost in the shuffle. Anyway, The 8 Show is fantastically acted and pretty entertaining, even if its lack of subtlety and violent sense of humor won't be for everyone.

I SHOULDN'T HAVE WATCHED WEDDING IMPOSSIBLE!!!
I SHOULDN'T HAVE WATCHED IT!
Now, I have to suffer again from the agony of waiting! 😢😢😢
Tumblr media
This new Krama really got me!
I first saw this on a Facebook Page where I read the synopsis and got interested. Plus, new faces means new Oppa! 🫰🏻
Tumblr media
So the story revolves around Na Ah Jung who is a struggling actress, she has a 15 years life long friend, Do Han who is secretly a third generation chaebol heir. I mean, can you really keep a secret that long to your "best friend"? Besides on being a chaebol heir, Do Han is a closet gay. So classic Kdrama comes in where the 할아버지 (harabeoji) wants Do Han to marry the other chaebol heir, Yoon Chae Won who is secretly in love with Do Han's 남동생 (namdongsaeng), ✨ Lee Ji Han ✨ He is our main oppa for this Kdrama. So Do Han being the dramatic he is wants none of this to happen. He offered Ah Jeong to be his fake wife just not to get the heir (like wth if that is irl, that is crazy). But Lee Ji Han has another plans for his 형 (hyung). He is the most supportive brother in the Kdrama history who comes from crazy rich family. We always see sibling rivalry from it, and yeah, classic Kdrama where the first and legit family bullies the illegitimate children (Do Han an Ji Han). And yes, guess what, of course, Ji Han's plan will back fire at him because he will fall for our main girl, Ah Jeong and I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE NEXT EPISODES!
Tumblr media
The casting is great. I could already feel the chemistry between Jeon Jong Seo (Ah Jeong) and Moon Sang Min (Ji Han). It is like Episode 4 as of March 8, 2024 and I cannot wait to watch the next episodes. This is one of the Kdramas I regret watching RIGHT AFTER IT WAS AIRED. I hate waiting on Kdramas because my head and heart won't stop thinking and feeling what will be the next episodes be like. 😂
Tumblr media
I'll be back after the series so I can make another blog post about it. But for now, let us all watch, enjoy and got crazy while waiting for WEDDING IMPOSSIBLE.

i wanted to include any warnings i noticed while watching these shows, as to reduce any harm to anyone taking my recommendations! these are still my favorite shows and have as many nuanced positives as nuanced negatives!
key: FL = female lead, ML = male lead, TW = trigger warning
message about south korean dramas: i think so many of us are drawn to kdramas for their depth and analysis of different forms of oppression and traumas. however, kdramas are lacking so much in so many ways thus the TWs. i recently found out that studio dragon, the largest production company in south korea is a monopoly company (bought out all smaller independent businesses and now has total control over most production in south korea). studio dragon alone has produced vincenzo, hometown cha cha cha, happiness, twenty-five twenty-one, yumis cells, my roommate is a gumiho, doom at your service, true beauty, start-up, tale of the nine tailed, flower of evil, it’s okay to not be okay, hi bye mama, my holo love, love alarm, hotel del luna, because this is my first life and way way more. plus they just signed with Netflix in the last year or two, and will only be continuing to expand. if you regularly watch kdramas there’s not much we can do, expect support the dramas that have become more inclusive. knowledge is power and having perspectives on why studio dragon is not perfect is more beneficial than living in the dark.

'Love Next Door’ Mid-Season (episodes 1-8) Review
Childhood friends and neighbors Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryoo re-unite after Seok-ryoo quits her job in the U.S and moves back to Korea in 'Love Next Door'. Can the friends finally turn into lovers?
Sneha Jaiswal (Twitter | Instagram) Korean drama ‘Love Next Door’ (it’s on Netflix) starts off with four ajummas (aunties) talking about their kids, plastic surgeries, while one of them constantly farts away to glory. It’s an adequately fun start for a romantic-comedy series spanning sixteen episodes about a Tom-and-Jerry like couple. But come episode eight, and the entire tone of the series…

Queen of Tears
Tumblr media
Okay so... I am really happy and sad altogether. I am sad to see this series end cause it was truly a great one to watch. so heartwarming and breaking at the same time.
Tumblr media
But honestly I have to commend the writers on this one. The story had a good balance through out. All actors did really well. they gave a performance of their life. The only actress i did not really like was Hae-in's step grandmother. ( she had no emotions the entire time, it was frustrating to watch)
Tumblr media
Germany has become a heaven for them, I will always have to associate the show with Germany now. Especially these stairs.
Tumblr media
just gorgeous landscape.
Tumblr media
The story ending this way seems okay, I am not mad about it. After all that has happened in this show. The ending is least of its problems.
Tumblr media
This show's Director, Cinematographer and Sound design they need to get an award for this. I mean at all aspects, just beautiful. I would want to work like this. create content that moves people, entertains them while also looking beautiful as hell.
I would recommend this show without a doubt or hesitation.

Lovely Runner
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
Lovely Runner (2024, South Korea)
Directors: Yoon Jong Ho & Kim Tae Yeop
Writer: Lee Shi Eun (based on the novel by Kim Bbang)
Mini-review:
This is one of those rare dramas where I could tell I was in for something truly special from the very first episode. And it delivered on that initial promise until the very end. Somehow, it got better with every episode. You can just tell everyone involved was incredibly passionate about this project. The writing is both riotously funny and heartbreakingly sad; there are few dramas that have made me laugh and cry as much as this one. The directing and the cinematography also keep things dynamic and visually gorgeous. And the acting... Man, Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok give two of the best performances I've seen in a K-drama; their acting is so nuanced and detailed. Plus their chemistry is crazy, seriously off the charts. Lovely Runner has helped me get through these last couple of months, and I will miss it so so much. Do yourself a favor and go watch it, if you haven't already!
