also still waiting on the bazookoid to be sanded and painted, but here’s an update if anyone’s interested :D (with junkrat for size reference)

i’ve also made a bazookoid license to clip onto my pants (cause i need to show i’m legally carrying ykyk)

of course, when he was in the medi-bay with kochanski talking about rimmer and how much he misses him. but i always thought about how lister felt the need to add before mentioning rimmer 'your hologrammtic hunk'

was he talking about dave from kochanski's universe or his rimmer 🤨

SHES MY GIRL OKAY. She has the exact same issues as Lister, surrounding being the last human alive, but on top of that, she’s stuck in a dimension away from the love of her life, living with somebody with the exact same face, but so, so different. Plus, she had no actual friends growing up, since she was plugged into a virtual cyber school. I feel like this mimics Rimmer quite well, and I wish canon went into how much of a foil they are to eachother. THEY ARE MLM WLW SOLIDARITY TO ME OKAY? Bonus, we now have the beautiful Krisonne swap au by @a-literal-toaster-wtf so even more reason to vote!

This guy survived 3 million years in space and kept to its lifelong code of existence to make toasted goods. Incredible determination. Plus just an incredible gag. If I had to live with it, I’d flush it out an airlock and spouse it for bazookoid target practise. 10/10

Hello and welcome to this week's edition of: me clutching at straws, #5937

Cassandra lied about seeing Lister shoot Rimmer in the head for sleeping with Kochanski as an act of pre-revenge because she knows he's going to kill her and that would be his worst nightmare. But why Rimmer? Is it because she knows that Lister hates him and the idea of him copping off with his unrequited love would make him mad enough to kill him? Obviously that's the comedic answer, but: no.

It's because she's seen the future and she knows that Lister harbours some complicated feelings for Rimmer that his conscious mind can't quite compute yet. She knows that, someday in the future, those feelings will come to the surface. She also knows that if Lister were to kill Rimmer in a frenzy of rage, he would be plagued with these complicated feelings of guilt and loss for the rest of his life.

Spoilers for 'Red Dwarf: Last Human"

I have just finished last human for a second time and I am newly remembering how much the ending irritated me. Like, this man who just found out he is a father and saved all your lives, is dead and when you figure out that you have another luck virus serum you don't think that perhaps get that luck to save your friend. Instead they choose to use the luck to have children. Which sure, it is important but that doesn't change the fact that they took A SIP EACH! They didn't both need luck, Lister just needed the luck that he would still be able to have kids. They could have had another sip of luck and found perhaps a spare light bee OR even a way that they could fix the mauled light bee, because that would be incredibly lucky. But no, they use both the sips for kids.

I guess they could have done that afterwards in the story but they didn't tell us that so all we can do is theorise and not have it confirmed whether they did or did not save Rimmer.

I am very upset with how it ended, so know I'm going to reread 'Infinity welcomes careful drivers' for the third time.

This may have been incoherent jibberish but thank you for reading my rant. 😊

sorry for being pretty inactive, im about 7000 miles away from home, and i've been busy writing smegtober (i know it's over, but i really want to finish it)

i had a thought, kochanski and lister never kissed during the whole of red dwarf, but rimmer and lister did?? (if they did, what ep pls)

Not sure if anyone's made a post like this before but Red dwarf really is the show of all time

It's got a genderswap episode, its got a bodyswap episode, it's got multiple clone episodes, plenty of alternate universes and a simply iconic musical number despite the fact that its not a musical show by any means

theres a trans computer, two counts of mpreg, insane levels of homosexual behavior and a robot who goes through a midlife crisis

it's got the most repressed man in existence who also happens to be dead, literally the most optimistic last human alive (seriously, how is he so positive all the time) and a dude with frankly the best wardrobe ever who also happens to be literally a cat

Theres dodgy BBC budget practical effects (which I love), copious moments which are insane in and out of context, sets that are held together with blu tac and a cult following that could probably once destroy anything

It's got that season which not many people like to talk about (cough 8, cough), one of the creators left halfway through and they've all been doing It for over 35 years and are still going somehow

God I love it so much, it really is the show of all time

bbc iplayer isn't working in the country. im in right now, so i can't fact-check anything im saying right now, so if i've made any mistakes, please correct me

the original kochanski, in my opinion, is better as i feel like she's more lister's type, someone confident but also cheeky, and someone who loves to boogie on down. she is also shorter than lister (as lister wouldn't (in my opinion) date a girl taller than him as it would take away his manliness)

for me, having her as kochanski feels right. she was his type perfectly. you could imagine her being in love with him, the way he wanted her to. and in the stasis leak episode, they did marry in the future, original kochanski was intelligent, confident but still loved with all her heart, and would've given lister the support he needed to make him a better person by being convincing and loving and not bullying him into being better. the one person that didn't stand over him. they would've been equal.

this is nothing against the actor. it was just how they chose to write kochanski in later seasons.

in the episodes, she feels as if she didn't care about dave, no matter how short-lived their relationship was. lister was used as a rebound for her ex-boyfriend tim.

which wasn't the original plot. the original plot that lister was love-sick puppy too scared to say anything which is realistic for his character, all these words but no actions. he did try, though. he tried hopelessly.

he went out with her for around two weeks, and they broke up. she wanted to be his friend, and he did too in a way. he only went to titan to get over her, as to where he picked up frankenstein.

of course, the kochanski with the cat and kryten is from a different universe but overall the same person. but she is confident and doesn't let anything get in her way, which lister would've been attracted to. for me, it was just the attitude that she has against lister. of course, they're not the same kochanski, and she led a different life than the original, but she would've had more compassion than she does considering they're the same people that have just led different lives and had different aspirations?

for me, it feels like their relationship just wouldn't have been equal, and she would've just tried to change him into something he wasn't. i feel like it wouldn't have been very healthy.
