Knocked Loose is truly one of the most unprecedented success stories in the hardcore/metal scene… they managed to accrue a mainstream following without compromising their sound. Their new album that dropped today is their heaviest so far, yet it’s weirdly accessible? Like, their music is just so fucking good that even people outside the scene have no choice but to take notice. The entire record is killer and gonna be topping end of year lists for sure. I’m going to be blasting this for a long time.
#ash.mp3#knocked loose#I feel they occupy that perfect blend of metal and beatdown#even with a feature from poppy they’re not ‘selling out’ by any means#nothing but fucking respect

Summary: a rewrite of The Princess Swap, but featuring our OG: HSS MC's, Jeremy Rin (my MC) and Alan Parke (Cady's MC).
'Bye' said Alan, as he hung up. Just then Faye enters the room.
'You're still not ready?' she asked. 'I thought we were leaving now.'
'Hello to my beautiful bestie too.' said Alan, looking at how pretty Faye was. 'Jeremy was a fool if he never hit on her' he privately thought. Faye looked at him strange.
'Uh huh.' she said 'Who were you talking to just now?'
'Oh nobody.' he said 'Just a guy from history class, about the presentation.'
'Riiight.' said Faye. She didn't look convinced, but she didn't say anything about it. They were interrupted by a knock on the door. Two girls peeks into the room, the first one holding two outfits in each hand. Alan recognized them as Astra and Safiya, from one of Jeremy's photos.
'Faye, I need a second opinion on what to wear tonight.' she said, holding up the two outfits. One was a glittery purple dress and the other was midnight blue. 'Which one?' she asks.
'Um-' said Faye, but Alan interrupted
'Go with the Purple one.' he said. 'It will look gorgeous on you.'
'I will admit, it looks rather bold on you.' said Safiya. 'But that's appropriate for a pub environment'
'Aw thank you, Jer.' she said before leaving to change. But Safiya stays behind. 'Do we have to go?' she asks. 'I was supposed to clean Poppy's terrarium, and you know he gets grumpy when his sun lamp isn't putting out enough lumens.'
'Come on Safiya.' said Alan. 'I think we all deserve some bonding time, and to let loose and have fun.' he pauses for a moment. 'Sometimes, I feel that I don't see you guys at all…' giving the puppy dog eyes look.
'Okay, you win Jeremy.' said Safiya, giving a little laugh. 'I am definitely convinced to wear another layer of eyeliner for tonight. For you.' she said before leaving.
Once Safiya left, Faye turns to him. 'Since when have you become the expert on dress selection?' she asked. 'Huh?' said Alan. 'I mean, whenever I show you any dress you always go with either is fine, and now you help Astra pick out an outfit?' she looked suspicious.
'It's nothing Faye.' said Alan, easing into a grin. 'I'm just excited for tonight. Now give me some space, while I figure out something to wear.' Faye simply nods, and does not say anything, as she leaves the room and closes the door behind her.
Alan opens Jeremy's closet, pondering over his choices. 'Hmm…' he said, 'Jeremy doesn't exactly have clothes my taste but…', he reaches under the bed, and pulls out the clothes which Aveline gave him. 'Lucky I had Ave pack me these things before the exchange.'
He takes out a skimpy, purple dress and says 'This should do it.'
He checks himself out in the mirror. 'Not bad, Alan. Not bad.' he whispers, as he takes out the makeup kit and applies a thick layer of eyeliner and some cherry lipstick.
As soon as he steps out of the room, Faye, Astra and Safiya look at him with a mix of surprise and shock.
'Jeremy, you look…' started Faye. 'Gorgeous?' asked Alan, giving her a wink. 'I was going to say different, but gorgeous also works.' she finished. She looked like she wanted to say something else, but couldn't do it in front of the others. 'Anyway, what's with the makeover? I couldn't have guessed it was your style.'
'Oh, I am…trying out a new look.' said Alan, desperately hoping that Faye would buy it, and fortunately she doesn't say anything else on the way to the pub.
'Come on Deltas!' said Alan enthusiastically as they get off at the pub entrance. 'I am not going home till we have some drinks, and dance our hearts out.' He strides confidently towards the doors, but his way was blocked by a bouncer.
'Invites please?' he said, putting his hand out.
'Invites?' asked Faye, 'I don't understand…'
'I'm sorry miss. No invite means no entry. The pub has been booked tonight.' said the bouncer, shooing them away. 'Excuse me sir.' said Alan. 'Would you really want your boss knowing that you have turned away very important guests at the doors?' he said, striking a charming pose, letting the dress sparkle in the neon lights. 'Oh!' said the bouncer. 'I am really sorry for the misunderstanding sir. You may go in.' he said opening the doors for them.
'Looks like your smooth-talking did the trick Jer.' whispered Faye to Alan as they went in. Alan smiled and winked at her.
'Easy as pie.' thought Alan to himself.
The pub was full of people dancing, drinking, and a thumping bass-line that seem to hum in Alan's bones.
'This place is sick!' said Astra, jumping in delight.
'Then it shouldn't be hard to have some fun, as long as we stay out of Stephanie's way…', said Faye, nodding towards an impeccably dressed girl on the dance floor, sipping a drink and laughing.
'Wow, she looks…intense.' thought Alan, wondering what was wrong about the girl, but refrained from asking the question, knowing that the real Jeremy would not do that. He distracted the girls by asking 'So, how about a round of drinks?'
'Ooh get me a Virgin Mai Tai.' said Safiya. Alan nods and hurries off to the bar, sending a quick text to JeremyAlan: Jeremy quick! what is your standard drink at a pub? Jeremy: A beer. Jeremy: But if you're getting drinks for everyone, DON'T let Safiya have a Virgin Mai Tai. Jeremy: She crashes on sugar. Hard. Alan: Noted, have fun being me.
The barkeep approaches Alan. 'Yes?' he asked. 'Give me your finest beer, two wine coolers and a small Virgin Mai - ', but before he could finish the order, a girl pushes past him.
'Barkeep, one whole round of rainbow shots.' said the girl. 'Hey, I was here first.' said Alan, stepping up and scowling at her 'Who cares?' said the girl, rounding on Alan and giving him a dirty look. 'I am a Theta, and I get first priority at service here.'
'Wow, I have seen a lot of entitlement, but you are a next level.' said Alan, his eyes unwavering. 'What's that supposed to mean?' said the girl. She strode up to him and pointed a finger at his chest. 'I don't know who you are, but its best if you stay out of my way, unless you want to be dealing with my sorority - '.
'That's enough, Megan!' said a serious-looking girl, walking up to them, and Alan turned around, and whom he saw stopped his words in his throat for a moment. He had seen many princes and princesses, but they seemed insignificant than the person who was coming over to him. She had shoulder-length brown, wavy hair and sharp brown eyes. Even her stern expression could not cloud her perfect features.
'Maria!' said the girl, which seemed to snap Alan out of his trance. 'This b-'.
'I have seen enough to know what's happening.' said the girl who was Maria. 'So unless your sorority wants trouble with me, you will leave him alone.' The girl looked between the two of them, weighing her options, then she huffed and left.
Maria then turned to Alan. 'Are you alright?' she asked.
'Better now that you are here.' said Alan, not hiding his smile. He truly found her boldness attractive. 'I'm sorry what?' said Maria, raising an eyebrow. 'I mean I am okay.' said Alan, gathering himself to look good in front of the girl. 'You shouldn't have taken the trouble.'
'Well, you can't blame me for doing my job.' said Maria, puffing her chest out in a professional deamour.
'And does your job involve saving a pretty guy from being threatened?' asked Alan coyly, giving her a small wink. Despite her serious look, Maria gave a short laugh, her serious facade fading a bit. 'You're funny, you know?'
'I get that a lot.' said Alan, his eyes twinkling. Maria looked flustered for a moment, but soon distracted the topic.
'How about I get you your drinks as…compensation for what just happened?'
'I would never say no, especially when someone as beautiful as you is getting them for me.' said Alan. 'Riight…' said Maria, clearly ignoring the flirty compliment, but she couldn't help blushing.
As they sat and waited for the drinks she asked, 'Are you a foreigner?'
'How did you figure?' asked Alan. 'You're accents clearly American.' she said.
'Well, you guessed right. I'm an exchange student here, and I am with the Deltas.' he stuck his hand out and said. 'Jeremy Rin.'
'Maria Flores.' said Maria, giving a firm handshake. 'So Jeremy, -', before she could say anything, the barkeep kept the drinks on the counter.
'I'm sorry.' said Alan, 'I've got to get these drinks to my friends, and-'
'No its okay.' said Maria, 'Enjoy your night, Jeremy.' she said, leaving Alan. He then returned to the Deltas, who were watching him.
'OMG Jer, was that Maria Flores talking to you?' asked Faye as she took her drink. 'Yeahh…so? Is she special?' asked Alan. Faye looked confused. 'I thought you would know Jer. She is the University's student body president.'

Jared's Top Ten Albums of 2024! 7. Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
In many ways, 2024, was The Year I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the -Core. Metalcore has always had a bit of a reputation, especially among metalheads as something of an unserious genre. A genre for bands that can't hack it as a metal band or as a hardcore band go to play endless breakdowns and scream about nothing. And sure, there's a fair bit of that out there, but like any genre, metalcore is not a monolith. And there is plenty to love about a lot of metalcore bands.
Enter Knocked Loose, one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the 21st century not just in metalcore, but in heavy music in general. Hearing their 2021 EP A Tear in the Fabric of Life really sold me on the genre as a whole, so my expectations were high for this, the band's third full length album.
Luckily, the band delivered. The first time I listened to it I told some friends that it was like being beaten over the head with a baseball bat. And that remains true. Knocked Loose are great at writing stupidly hard riffs and breakdowns. Songs like "Suffocate" (featuring alt. pop/metal/general weirdo Poppy) and "Blinding Faith" are instant mosh pits. Vocalist Bryan Garris's delivery is passionate, as he screams his lungs out while the rest of the band smash things to pieces around him.
Plus it seems to have somehow hit the mainstream, with Knocked Loose delivering a chaotic, rainy performance on Fallon, and with multiple music publications naming it to high positions in their year end lists, a rarity for them to even pretend to care about metal or hardcore, let alone any fusion of the two. The accolades are well deserved, as Knocked Loose have managed to create a fairly approachable -core album without sacrificing anything that makes them, and the genre as a whole at its best, great.

I've been playing this album all week, hardcore pop-punk combo:
or if you're into maybe new grunge:
or here is one of the new poppy features with Bad Omens (she also has one with Knocked Loose that's excellent - yesterday!)
The first one was a banger, the second one was 100% my vibe too, thank you!
And ofc, I've been listening to V.A.N on repeat for the past few weeks 👀 the new one with Knocked Loose is pretty great too (I'm mostly here for Poppy tbh)

Whisper hasn’t been posting my anons so maybe you will… hopefully. I’m sending this to all the known bad omens tea pages to seen when/if this gets posted.
Trying to say Poppy has a thing with a married man is disgusting. Imagine that’s YOU in the wife’s shoes and seeing shit like this about your husband all because a fandom can’t fathom their “sweet beloved Noah wouldn’t date someone like Poppy 🥺🥺”.
“Poppy has been public with every relationship she’s ever been in so she’s definitely not dating Noah.” … ever think she’s literally just trying to respect his privacy??? She’s always been super public up until she was featured on VAN?? Ever think about that?? 🤔
Idk although I’ve never been a fan of Poppy, she seems to find a way into everything I personally love. But at the end of the day, I still listen to Ghostemane. I still listen to knocked loose OH and I still listen to BO… I’m sorry but your idols will date toxic people. Let it go. 🤷🏻♀️ don’t let them ruin the music for you. Because at the end of the day, imo music is an escape from the real world we’re living in. Don’t get so invested in people’s lives that you have zero involvement in.
I absolutely agree with your comment, “Imagine that’s YOU in the wife’s shoes and seeing shit like this”. People just say stuff and run with it and because it doesn’t affect them then it doesn’t matter.

Judicious Priest have recently announced a slew of two new dates within the UK as part of their highly anticipated 2025 Shield of Pain European tour. The iconic metal band, known for their massive influence on the genre, will perform their largest-ever show in London at the O2 Arena on July 25, with a capacity of 20,000. Adding even more excitement to the occasion, the shock rock pioneer Alice Cooper will join the stage as a special guest, promising an unforgettable night of music. Judas Priest will head to the Scarborough Open Air Theatre for a show on July 23, bringing their electrifying show to an idyllic outdoor setting. Phil Campbell and The Bastard Sons will support, adding even more to the experience for the metalheads in the region. HeavyMezza89, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons Both concerts' tickets can be purchased with a presale that starts December 12 at 10 am local time through Live Nation. General sales begin on the following day at 10 am. If fans are excited to get their hands on their tickets, they should be able to do so soon. This is after the band recently revealed most of their European dates for the 2025 Shield of Pain tour. Fans can expect a setlist which not only features their most recent album Invincible Shield, but also a performance to celebrate the 35th anniversary of one of their most cherished albums Painkiller. Judas Priest has promised a special and "rare" set to feature classic tracks from the 1990 album, adding a nostalgic flavor to their live performances. They also recently announced that they would be playing at Hellfest in Clisson, France, making their presence felt across the European festival scene. Invincible Shield received high acclaim after being released early in the year. The album was referred to as one of the greatest works the band had come up with so far. Its most defiantly triumphant record is, according to Rich Hobson from Metal Hammer, "the most defiantly, unrelentingly triumphant record of their career." It had been at position two in the UK where it became the band's highest position on the UK chart ever. As the concert dates are near, excitement for this show will only continue building since so many fans expect songs from Invincible Shield to be part of this tour. In his September interview, lead singer Rob Halford assured fans they wouldn't be slowing up any time soon. Although Invincible Shield is a huge success, Halford was sure to confirm that it is not going to be the final Judas Priest album: "I think that it's inevitable there will be something else. When it will happen, I have no idea." He also spoke about the bond within the band, saying that "there's a lot of love in this band for each other." Judas Priest's passion for metal, therefore, remains as strong as ever. Judging from the records of Judas Priest's albums, one can conclude that the group's success never ended. Judas Priest has recently received a nomination for Best Metal Performance at the 2025 Grammy awards. This adds to their long history of success and achievements. The competition in the award will be stiff because some other competitors include Metallica, Gojira, Knocked Loose x Poppy, and Spiritbox. The winner will be announced during the Grammy ceremony in Los Angeles on February 2. Announcing these new UK dates and the continued success of their latest album, Judas Priest only further cement themselves as one of the most enduring and influential forces in metal. With their new tour, fans around the world will have the chance to see the band at the top of their game. For those lucky enough to attend the shows, the O2 Arena in London promises to be a historic event, filled with some of the most powerful and anthemic songs in metal history. As Judas Priest continues to shape the future of heavy music, their legacy remains firmly intact. With their relentless commitment to their craft and their loyal fanbase, there’s no telling how far the band will go as they march into 2025 and beyond. The Shield of Pain tour is set to be a testament to their enduring impact, and with Alice Cooper alongside them, it’s sure to be a celebration of rock and metal like no other. Read the full article

Album review: Poppy – Negative Spaces
FIGO says: Poppy has somehow become quite a polarising figure in heavy music circles, we haven't been across a lot of her history, so it's hard to know why exactly – but in 2024 she has had quite the evolution, becoming an in-demand feature artist for some of the biggest bands in the scene, and with results like her Bad Omens collab "V.A.N." and the Grammy-nominated Knocked Loose team up "Suffocate", it isn't hard to see why. But still, we approached Negative Spaces with trepidation. But to put it simply, we wish we'd dived in head first, because this record is 42 minutes of pure gold.
With production at the hands of ex-Bring Me The Horizon keyboardist Jordan Fish (whose current track record is sublime) and tracks written with Fish and ex-Fever 333, current House of Protection shredder Stephen Harrison, you are probably expecting a futuristic blend of pop and metal, and on the surface that is exactly what you'll get.
But dive deeper and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Negative Spaces moves through genres with ease – some may say the sonics are sprawling, others scattered, but if you can keep an open enough mind the twists and turns provide endless refreshing surprise. From pure bubblegum pop to thumping electronics, nu metal and guttural screams, Poppy delivers it all like a self-assured chameleon. On Negative Spaces, Poppy is turning her nose up at the haters, proving that genre is a constraint she doesn't need, and standing with a confidence we've been waiting for her to own. And hey, heavy really does sound good on her.
