Shtopor knows how to survive in harsh conditions. How to make not-that-bad-edible food out of canned food. Just google navy-styled macaroni! Shtopor one of those dudes who is a coldfucker. He is actually low-temperatures-proof. (small preface) shtop is an eastern orthodox. AND ANOTHER ONE russkaya zabava. When the baptism of jesus comes we have a tradition to cut out the ICE HOLE in the river AND JUMP INTO IT 👍 or another similar thing when ur hot after the banya you fall into a snowdrift. Another notable mention i think shtop is actually dgaf what to whatch on tv but he likes to talk with it. That sofa commentators type of ppl u know em. After a really looong day he would mix vodka and beer, sat down in front of tv and gave his VERY IMPORTANT COMMENTS ON LITERALLY EVERY THEME IN THE WORLD in until he fell asleep.

Russian curse words is veeery various, it can contain a lot of definition for one word, but be different on vibes and occasions to use it. U can say an entire sentence without a single cultural word in it. And therefore shtop complains about the lack of swear words in english and often swears in Russian. "--da blyaaaaat' kak zhe zae- -- OH gimme this gun. you started speaking russian which means things are bad." ill brb later with more things but now im kinda tired rn so here u go.

Gotta be honest, when I first saw Pavel, I was very suspicious about him. But things have changed to opposite after a couple of seconds of intro cutscene, and after finishing first Cayo heist I completely fell in love with this cute and adorable Klukva man.

What is Klukva? Its a cranberry in Russian. And also it is a complex of different stereotypes about Russians that have nothing to do with reality: we have bears as pets, we drink vodka saying “Na zdorovye”, there is always one season in Russia - winter -, and we are cold resistant, we commute to work on tanks, and go fishing using nuclear submarine, women are ballerinas, men are spies from KGB, totalitarianism, etc.

Klukva can be good and bad. I love good Klukva where Russians are tough and cool guys with iron will. I like Ivan Danko (“Red Heat”), Boris “the Blade”(“Snatch”), and Lev Andropov (“Armageddon”). Bonus points to Lev because he was played by Peter Stormare (he is awesome).

But nowadays Klukva is mostly bad, and Russians are shown either as always drinking odd untidy dudes, or cruel shitheads: CoD: Modern warfare, Stranger Things S3, Chernobyl, Tenet, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Black Widow. Stop mixing game and movie industry with politics, that’s not cool, no.

So, after I first saw Pavel, I wasn’t really waiting for anything good. I thought: “Great, another stereotypical Russian with heavy accent, what will be next? Endless talks about vodka and Russian government? World conquering?”. Nothing like this. Very quickly I was charmed by his charisma, laidback optimistic attitude, and smile. His funny stories are a true gem. He is a cunning criminal mastermind, but at the same time, he shows that he cares about protagonist and their team (while doing heist, if someone will reach escape point sooner than others, Pavel will say “we’ll wait, we left no one behind”), he supports us, respects us and treats as a friend. And its impossible to not fall in love with this character or don’t like him.

And this man smokes sitting relaxed on a torpedo. In torpedo bay. Thats both crazy and hot goddamn sexy.

Many of Russian comments I read were saying that he is anything but Russian. “His accent doesn’t sound like Russian and he doesn’t even speak language like Victor”. Yes, his accent is not Russian, and he really doesn’t speaks language, but as I remember only a couple of non-English speaking characters in GTA were voiced by native speakers. And this husky sexy voice of Pavel, especially when he gradually starts talking slower in deep and rough voice�� my goodness…. Honestly, I don’t care that voicing actor is not Russian speaking. “We don’t have phrases that he says (“as we say in Russia…”)”. Yes, we don’t, but phrases are funny and cool, and now I use them in real life (“you can be accurate, or you can shit in your pants, not both” - thats hilarious), so at least one Russian speaks it.

One video says that he is Klukva, he has nothing to do with real Russians. Well, yes, he is, but you know what, Los Santos and San Fierro are not real either with Sprunk, LifeInvader, and IFruit. Its a game full of parodies, and Pavel is a parody on Russians. But actually a good one.

Pavel is one of my favorite types of Klukva: cool middle-aged man, criminal mastermind, hardworking (he maintains solo an old Soviet nuclear submarine); he is living on a diet of red caviar and navy wine (thank god its not vodka), smoking on torpedo, telling crazy unfinished stories, and laughing like an old pirate. He is a good man, charming, funny, loyal. And seeing how much he is loved in at least English speaking GTA community, it really warms my Russian heart. Among ugly evil modern Klukva, Pavel is a ray of sunshine, a projectile of light. And I’m really grateful to Rockstar for it.

Sharp angles, babeeeey

I love how simple yet on the nose successions costume designer, Michelle Matland, was about Shiv (s clothes). In season 1 she looks "correct" but sloppy, in a way. The formula is there, blouse + pants + jacket but less #girlboss and more college students first real job.

That's not a mil/bill-whatever-naire. She also looks like an eco/alternative office mum who drinks almond milk. For girlbossing it is beneath her.

In s2 there are only angles. The siluette is sharp, you can cut yourself on any surface; starting with hair. It's also failproof. Because no matter how "sloppy" your clothes are that sharp haircut gives an edge. Also love how obviously there was more care to tailor Shivs clothing to further tighten the picture.

In fact everything is so tight Shiv can afford to "break" the formula and wear a shirt instead of a blouse. Even in neutral baby colors they kept the lines.

Love how this article points out the Roys are "anti Kardashians" because they already arrived and have been at the top of the food chain, there is no need for flashiness and bling. Many people were complaining about the pastels and it is always funny to see "who knows".

This is a European backdrop for them, more old European money rather than new American money, and there's a difference.

In the U.S., when we portray money, it's often through the Cartier jewels, the dangling diamonds, the fur, the handbags that scream money. They don't do that, and it's by choice, because they were brought up with code. The Roys are anti-bling. They don't need to present themselves that way. They choose what is luxurious to them—the labels don't count. Of course, they're going to be buying expensive accessories and clothes, but they don't need to posture. It may be a $2,000 pullover sweater but it doesn't need to have a logo on it to represent where they're coming from. They know who they are. They're already established.

Hey, even though I've had a damn hard day I couldn't help but finish the sudden idea of a Klukva.

Yes, she came out extremely dissatisfied with the art, perhaps I should stop using so many dots and work on the face.

I'm planning a couple more ideas with Klukva, and then I'll start drawing a mini-comic.
