listening to the 1995 jekyll and hyde musical soundtrack at a crisp 04:46 in the morning and i gotta say. it's making me very normal about the gavins. like holy hell just listen to Confrontation. i dare you to look me in the eyes and tell me that's not a gavin brothers song like it has EVERYTHING IN IT. a shadow of evil clouding the good you had meant? questioning whether or not you are a good person? the fear that your peers will mistake you for a monster?? "you cannot choose but to lose control"??? the whole fucking satan at his side shit????? "TAKE ALL YOUR EVIL DEEDS AND ROT IN HELL"???????? god how i fucking wish i could animate id be cooking some good shit rn

messy headcanon time but: I think Klavier is an amazing baker and Apollo is an amazing cook and they both suck respectively at the other thing. I think Klavier grew up in an environment where precision & perfection was so important that the idea of following a boxed recipe would make sense, or following traditional recipes— trying to experiment would leave bad pastries that were a waste of flour and he didn’t think of rebelling in that way any further. meanwhile apollo grew up with rebels, where communal time over food may have been important, where you take whatever shit you can scavenge and throw it together to make something good. this idea of trying to think creatively and be resourceful leading apollo to cook via instinct (+ yk his sensory processing stuff might aid his intuition somewhat. or hinder it who knows)

i think this comes as a shock because it kind of isn’t what you would expect initially when broken down but! yeah. klavier buys boxed chocolate cake for his birthdays and apollo’s apartment smells faintly of spices, always. together, they make do; apollo starts to pick up on what makes a meal the best it can be and klavier deviates from his boxed recipes. yeah :)

I have some nrmt headcanons for you to celebrate the occasion

Phoenix does most of the cooking at home. Miles is notoriously a very bad cook, but whenever he does make an attempt, Phoenix "Iron Stomach" Wright eats it anyway and tells him he loves it.

Conversely, Miles is a very good baker. His favorite part is laying out all the ingredients before he starts in a bunch of little ramekins

Whenever Miles is having a bad day at work, the first thing he does when he gets home is take off his shoes and his coat. Then, he silently bumbles around the house until he finds Phoenix, and then he lays down on top of him

Once, Phoenix borrowed a DVD using Miles' library card and lost it before he got home. It's been five months and he's looked for it every single day, and he's terrified to tell Miles it's missing + find out about the late fee

Miles found the DVD the day after Phoenix lost it. He turned it in on the day it was due and is waiting to see how long Phoenix will take to confess. He's wondering if it would be funny or cruel to stage his own arrest for excess library fees.

Apollo has a crush on Miles and, conversely, Klavier has a crush on Phoenix. None of them have any idea.

Despite the fact that Phoenix is good with children of any age, Miles is actually the better of the two at handling babies. This is primarily because most of Phoenix's kids get to him as Standing and Walking children

As most of Miles' nightmares faded after AA3, Phoenix actually started getting some of his own after the bridge and "the big reveal." Miles likes to comfort him by holding his head to his chest, running his fingers through his hair, and humming to him. It's very soothing for both of them

I have this headcanon that will not leave my brain that the only food Klavier’s bothered to learn to cook is German cuisine. Outside of that he can make toast and dubiously edible eggs and bacon. This means that if the Gavinners were on tour and didn't have access to fast food, Klavier would make some kind of German dish for them, which Daryan very quickly got irritated with.

I've had this headcanon for weeks and it won't leave me alone, someone help

What I think the lawyers depression meals are in Ace Attorney

Phoenix: Plain pasta. 10 minutes. One pot. Cheap.

Miles: A nap.

Apollo: Chef Boyardee Ravioli. Nostalgic even if it tastes bad. Cheap. Only needs to be microwaved.

Klavier: A jar of keto cookie dough from Whole Foods. Too rich to have cheap depression meals but still puts 0 effort into preparing anything.

Franziska: Avocado salad kit eaten straight from the bag.

Bonus Gregory Edgeworth: Literally whatever is leftover from Miles' dinner. Forkful of mac and cheese. A few bites of meat. Too tired to cook two full meals, but he has to feed his baby.
