Bail or Jail - Open RP starter

((or, Klaus calls for bail. Could be one of his siblings, or could be a wrong number call! Open to anyone 21+))

“You're receiving a call from [T H E C I T Y] Police Department,” a robotic voice announced to the answering machine. After a moment, a beep followed, and the somewhat manic voice of Klaus Hargreeves took over.

“Heeeey, my best sibling! It's me, your favorite brother—! Listen, you know, uh—remember the old dive bar, down the street from Griddy’s? Well, the owner's an asshole, first of all. You can take that to the bank and smoke it. Apparently I was ‘disturbing the peace’ or something—” Klaus seemed to barely pause to breath, in between the lightly slurred rambling. “Swear to God—that little bitch—I was just enjoying my night when the cops showed up! I'm being—I'm being unjustly detained,” he added, raising his voice enough for said cop to hear.

In the distance, another voice could be heard. “Wrap it up, Hargreeves!”

“Listen, you gotta get me outta here. The other guy in here smells like eggs, and you know I'm a shy pooper!” Klaus quickly tried to reason. There was a pause, as the police officer said something in the background. “Alrighty, that's my cue — hey, you're gonna come get me though, right? You wouldn't leave me here, right? I'll love you forever, okay byyyye—!”

The recording cut off with a sharp click! For not the first, and definitely not the last time, Klaus was begging to be bailed out of trouble. All he could hope now was that he'd dialed the right number.

Spirits and Spirits - Open RP Starter

"Come on, you beautiful bastard, show yourself!"

Cross legged in a circle of candles, Klaus Hargreeves held court with the dead. Or, he was trying to. Beer cans and liquor bottles littered the attic floor around his circle, flickering in the candlelight. Another handle of vodka, half empty, sat beside him, the source of his ghostly dysfunction. But Klaus hadn't planned on summoning a ghost tonight--rarely ever, in fact.

After far too many drinks, Klaus has decided it was time to practice his powers. Five and Luther always got on him about training, since they were kids. Emotionally stunted by sixteen, Klaus had rarely taken the time to purposefully use his powers. The ghost-vision was always on, until he drowned it out with drugs and booze, but who knew what he could do when he was trying.

Unfortunately, what had fueled this motivation was also his power's undoing. The only spector to show up clearly was Ben. His dead brother watched skeptically, leaned against the windowsill nearby.

"This isn't going to work," Ben pointed out, decidedly unhelpful.

"Yeah, I heard you the first five times, Benny," Klaus shot back, glaring back at him. "Are you gonna make yourself useful, or are you too comfortable in the Peanut Gallery?"

"Oh, warm and cozy." But the sarcastic smile quickly dropped, eyebrows raising at something behind Klaus. "You've got a visitor."

The siblings all sit around the fireplace, cradling dishes from Luther’s favorite chinese takeout restaurant in their laps. They eat in a companionable silence.

Five settles into his spot in the sofa, once again foolishly believing that he’ll be able to enjoy the peace and quiet. Suddenly, the box spins again. “Goddamn it.”

He reluctantly reaches for the box, huffing as he unclasps it and pulls out another note. He reads it out loud and looks around the room.

“I wouldn’t trade mine,” Klaus says quietly. Ben looks up at him from across the room, smiling subtly. “I like being immortal. The ghosts aren’t my favorite, but I’d manage for Benerino.”

Viktor nods. “I’d keep mine, too. I finally understand how to control it.”

“I think I’d swap mine.” Allison wipes her mouth with a napkin. “I love my power, don’t get me wrong, but it’s such a dangerous game to play. It’s not as exciting as it seems to bend free will.”

“What would you swap it for?” Diego asks.

She shrugs. “I don’t know. You guys fit your powers. I think Sloane’s is pretty badass.”

Luther nods. “Oh, trust me, she-”

“That’s enough of that. I wouldn’t trade mine. No one would use it as intelligently as I do.” Five interrupts him. “Blinking is my thing.”

“And mine.” Lila appears with a flash in front of the fireplace, causing everyone to jump.

Five shakes his head. “I thought it couldn’t get any worse.”

“I like mine. It’s fun to give your abilities a little test run. And also use them better than all of you.” She addresses the group in its entirety.

Diego shakes his head as he pulls her into his lap. “I’d keep mine too.”

Luther nods. “Yeah. I think we’ve all grown into them too much to lose them.”

Allison looks down at her noodles with a sad expression. “Hey,” Luther looks at her, “rumoring is scary. It’s the threat of temptation. It’s understandable that you wouldn’t want-”

“Actually,” she cuts him off, “I like rumoring. I’ve learned to control the tempting nature of it, I think.”

“You sure have, sister,” Klaus points at her with a smile. “Go you.”

She gives him a small smile in return and takes another bite of her food. “Thanks, Klaus.”

They continue eating in silence again.

“Ben says he’d keep his too. But he’d like to be able to, y’know. Actually use it.” Klaus stares into the fire with an unreadable expression.

“Asshole Ben would probably trade it for something stupid, like…” Diego trails off.

“Turning invisible in the bloody dark.” Lila finishes.

Viktor chuckles, “No, he’d totally pick flying. And then we’d have to pick him up from the hospital because he crashed into a skyscraper.”

“I think he’d try talking to animals, except none would want to talk to him because he’s a dickhead,” Five chimes in.

They all laugh in agreement just as Ben stumbles in, still wiping sleep out of his eyes.

“What the hell are you guys doing? Chinese at,” He glances at his watch, “10:58 a.m.?”

Luther snaps his fingers. “There he is.”
