Umemiya

A long-awaited weekend. How pleasant it becomes with the onset of spring. There is even a desire to go out on warm evenings, not to sit at home in a plaid.

And so, one of these evenings. You took your boyfriend out to hang out at a club with great music.

Umemiya stood leaning on the bar and watched with a smile as you enjoyed the music on the dance floor.

Those two jerks were also standing there.

《 Hey, look at the girlie in a black dress on the dance floor there. She has pretty legs... I bet I'm going to give her a good slap 》

The guy rushed towards you, but a step before the unsuspecting you, someone grabbed him tightly by the scruff of the neck. And then he noticed how several pairs of eyes were staring at him rapaciously, and Hajime towered behind him. It seemed that he was about to crush the boy with his menacing gaze full of contempt.

The poor guys did not suspect that if you hang out in a club, then you are surrounded by your boyfriend and at least two Heavenly Kings of Bofurin.

After 10 minutes, this idiot and his friend were already kneeling outside the clubhouse in front of Umemiya and Hiragi, and swore that they would never even look at girls askance again in their lives. While you, without suspecting anything, continued to dance in the club with Tsubakino.

After this incident, Umemiya increased patrols around such places.

Kaji

The other day, Kaji got 2 tickets to a rock concert by some aspiring band "Kessoku Band". This boy loved noisy places, and you didn't mind. So in the evening you went to the semi-basement concert hall together.

You had a great time enjoying the sound of rock music, and then there was a 10-minute break between songs, during which everyone bought drinks, talked, and so on. Kaji was buying 2 glasses of fruit juice for you when he heard a strange guy talking on the phone next to him.

《 Yes, I have already found the right chick. I'm going to give her alcohol to drink and have fun with her tonight. Huh, yeah, as usual, dude. All right, bye, I'm off 》

The vein on Kaji's forehead had already started to swell from hearing the disgusting idea, and when that asshole moved in your direction, Ren lost all control. The glasses of juice he bought for you crashed loudly on the floor.

You heard a loud noise from the crowd, but when you came up, the guy lying on the floor under Kaji already looked more like minced meat than a person. You had to pull your boyfriend away from that guy so Ren wouldn't kill him.

Is it worth saying that you are now banned from that concert hall? However, Kaji has never regretted what he did. He's ready to kill anyone who's going to hurt you.

Nirei

After the exams, the Furin members decided to celebrate at the club. You were relaxing with them, finishing off a sweet milkshake. After active brain work and a little stress, you wanted more sweets.

After making a request to the bartender, you were distracted by some noise from your group. It looks like Sakura and Sugishita started showing their fangs to each other again and you headed towards them before this catfight blew up the whole club.

At this time, the bartender placed your order on the countertop and your sweet drink, decorated with whipped cream and a cherry on top, was waiting for your return.

At this moment, Nirey, who was actively writing something down in his notebook, looked up and there was such a picture in front of him: two strange guys approach the steam counter and one of them quickly pours some powder into a glass, and then both retire from the crime scene.

Nirei immediately tensed up. For this young collector of information, bandit tricks were known, which are popular for industry in places such as clubs and bars. The yellow-haired boy was already heading towards the bar to inform the bartender about what had happened, but when he saw you coming up and taking the drink in your hands, his hair stood on end and he rushed towards you with all speed.

Akihiko literally put his hand between your lips and the glass at the last moment.

He was noticeably nervous at that moment. You had to calm him down, and then Nirey told you and the guys from Furin what happened.

Of course, the guys quickly found these scum and handed them over to the guards, not forgetting to leave them a couple of bruises for prevention.

For the rest of the evening, Nirey did not leave your side and brought you drinks himself, carefully watching how they were prepared.

Kiryu

Kiryu invited you to a street fair. There were various counters and stands with geek themes: from games to anime and manga. Different lanterns and garlands, illuminating the evening street with warm light, created a sweet atmosphere. You both enjoyed spending time buying different stuff like key chains with paired characters, stickers, etc.

At some point, Mitsuki went to the bathroom, leaving you at the stand with "Love Is Hard For Otaku"

Standing at the sink, he heard some guys talking from the far corner.

《 Did you see that girl in the blue and white striped skirt? She's pretty. Let's buy her a drink and offer her a ride on a bike. Maybe we'll get something tonight 》

They were definitely talking about the very skirt that Kiryu helped you choose this morning. When these guys came out of the bathroom, he finished washing his hands and followed right behind them.

Making his way through the crowd, Mitsuki saw you with some kind of glass of juice in your hands, talking to those idiots. It seemed like you were trying to politely refuse, but they kept pressing hard.

Suddenly, someone's warm arms wrapped around your waist from behind and Kiryu leaned over your shoulder, drinking from the glass in your hand through a straw.

《 I'm back, love 》

Then he looked up at the annoying guys from under his brows. Mitsuki had the same relaxed expression when viewed at first glance. But your boyfriend wasn't smiling at those two idiots. It was a silent warning.

A cold light flashed in his green eyes.

The two guys hesitated slightly, muttered something, and left dejectedly. You still didn't understand what it was, but after that, you calmly continued your date, enjoying the rest of the evening.

Haruka Sakura

•Girls that fight back.

He's not so much of a romantic person so many of his turn ons do not have any correlation to anything that falls deeper into the aspects of romance.

But he does get off to the sight whenever you talk back to someone you refuse to let disrespect you. Even if you fight back with him, as much as he may seem he's annoyed, he's actually intrigued in the way you snap back making him grin at your remarks.

Some say he's sadistic for that (Suo).

Hajime Umemiya

•When you smell good.

He doesn't find it weird to openly go up to you and take a wiff of your scent. It was a complete accident the first time he smelt your aroma. You and him met up outside of school for the first time alone and because of that, he was able to smell your perfume.

He doesn't know why it gets him riled up, it's even come to a point when you two finally started dating, he wouldn't remove his head away from your neck whenever you were laying on his bed with him.

•Eye contact.

He absolutely digs the way whenever you two stare at each other. Something about the way your eyelashes bat at him as he falls into a deep gaze into yours makes him lose all sanity. He may seem like he's doing fine on the outside but on the inside, his itching to shove you to a wall and ask what you're doing to him.

Toma Hiragi

•When you're submissive.

This isn't put in a way to come off as sexual, it's whenever you simply comply to anything he says. It may sound toxic but he enjoys it when you listen to his orders, regardless if it stops you from doing something you really wanted to do, making you put on a jacket because it was too cold, ensuring you'll text him as soon as you get home, or when he tells you to help him with something.

Taiga Tsugeura

•Wearing his clothes

His wardrobe is quite boring to say the least; plain colours, bland shirts, and mostly shorts. But even so, he enjoys it whenever he walks by you and notices you're wearing one of his shirts.

He'll know right away that it's his due to the sheer size of it and the way it drapes on your body. It makes him go all giddy and smiley when he sees you. He has to look away or else you'll notice the blush dusting on his cheeks.

Mitsuki Kiryu

•When you're embarrassed.

There's a difference between being shy and embarrassed. If you so happen to get shy, he knows he shouldn't be finding interest in that because that's when you are genuinely nervous.

However, if you do get embarrassed, stuttering all over the place, blush creeping up on your face, eyes darting everywhere but his, a little alter ego of himself takes over in his head watching you melt into a puddle of ice cream.

He finds it so entertaining at the way you can't look him in the eye. He'll accuse you of going red and instigate your fumbling even further just for the fun of it.

Hayato Suo

•Accidental touches.

He tries to maintain being respectful but as soon as your hand brushes over his, his chest accidentally touching the back of your shoulder blade, the way youre faces get too close if he's helping you clean something off your cheek, it drives him nuts at the way you look at him.

He may seem calm and collected on the outside, but with how he's flickering his eyes to your lips and your eyes, you can tell if he wasn't holding himself back he probably would have smashed his lips onto yours by now.

Jo Togame

•When you make the first move.

He knows he's tacky for this but he can't help but to love the feeling of being chased by someone he likes.

He's all up for the way you two basically bicker with each other when he knows deep down you want him just as much as he does too.

He loves acting like he doesn't care till at the very last moment he'll say something so breathless that you'll be thinking about it for the next few days.

•Putting your hair up.

He also thinks he has a type for sporty girls due to the fact he just purely doesn't know what his exact type of women is.

If you're getting annoyed at the way your hair continues to fly in your face, need to focus, or simply just want to tie it, he loves watching the process of you tying it up for whatever reason.

Tomiyama Choji

•Fun to be with.

He has trouble being romantic and when he does, it's usually the worst thing you've ever experienced.

So if you two date, you have to expect most of your time with him to be more like fun play dates.

He likes the way you're able to make him laugh and want to do more menacing things with you, even if it ends up with one of you being in trouble.

•PDA.

You can argue this one to him but no matter what, he loves it when you publicly show others that your his.

If you hold his hand, take pictures with him in public, hold his arm, he thinks it's one of the best things you could do to show off your significant other.

It gives him the sense that you're possessive over him. As bad as that sounds, he loves it when you're willing to be aggressive to other people that try talking to him.

Umemiya

You guys were just together looking for some item you've seen online and you really wanted them.

Seeing you so happy Umemiya heart couldn't help but to felt his heart melt.

Without you noticed Umemiya went into the store.

After a few second an unknown men went to meet you. Starting to talk to you.

Even though you told the guy to leave you alone he started to scream at you and even took your arm.

At the exact moment Umemiya cameback.

He didnt have the time to make a move that your fist meet this guy face.

When He tried to replicate you felt a hand on your waist and an important presence behind you.

That was of course your boyfriend. He's coming to help you.

"What do you think you're doing? "

Seeing the firing uniform the man left quickly.

When you asked Umemiya were he was he looked at you with adorable eyes showing you the product he bought that you guys came originally for.

Sakura

You guys were outside you went with Sakura and his friend on a patrol. You weren't used to go with him but you had nothing to do and you really wanted to spend time with him.

Sakura and you were behind everyone talking and stuff. You even manage to take his hand in yours. His face was slightly red but not that much noticeable.

When a men approached you and talking to you in an appropriate way. Telling you stuff you really didn't like and after all you are here to spend time with your boyfriend and to see how a Furin patrol is.

Sakura couldn't even say a thing before you jump on that guy to rip him apart. No thought needed just action. Your body moved before you could think.

The fight started and well obviously you won. Women supremacy. The men left running his tails between his leg. Not very brave for a men who went talk to you and even tried to flirt with you in front of the furin.

When you turn back everyone was looking at you. Such a pretty lady fighting like that. Quite impressive. The mouth were open not really know how to react or even what to say. But what did they expect you are Sakura 's girlfriend.

But honestly even him didn't know you could do that. The guy didn't even touch you once. You were so cool.

Sakura looked so proud like have you seen that? That's my girlfriend look.

"You can fight? Fight me. "

Bro now want to fight with and against you.

Suo

Walking hand in hand with your boyfriend he was listening to you while you were talking about your last interest of the moment.

It was such a cute moment everyone could tell you were loving bird.

That nice moment were cut off by a bunch of men who came by you

Without a thought suo put you behind him to protect his significant other.

Unfortunately the guys wouldn't let you off so a fight start.

Suo was doing as always amazing but he didn't see one of the guy approaching you.

It was only when you sent him fly to another guy suo was fighting that he turn around to see you angry.

Seriously it was a nice afternoon, the weather was nice but no people pissed you off.

You went by Suo to be behind him again. Sure you know how to fight but you don't want to.

After that you guys went by an item from your interest of the moment to cool you off.

Kiryu

Can we take a moment to appreciate how cute he looks on this image?

You guys were on a date in the arcade laughing and having fun playing.

It was such precious date to you since you could enjoy a passion in common but also cause let's not lie you beat every record on the arcade born.

After beating another record Kiryu told you he will comeback in a few and to just wait for him.

So here you are now trying to escape a boring conversation with a men who clearly want to take you home.

You wish your boyfriend would comeback soon but unfortunately it seems that he will take some time.

When you nicely said the men you didn't wish to speak to him and you already have someone he began to be more aggressive.

He took your arm begining to drag you closer to him. You couldn't do much since he has your arm so you hit him with you head on the nose.

He startind to bleed when his lift his hand to slap you.

You raise you arm ready to block him. But before you could a hand stopped him.

Kiryu came back. Finally. You were clearly not a princess in danger but if you could avoid fighting even though you know how to its better.

Kiryu was clearly really pissed off by this men. His pressure on the guy hand was strong and he didn't want to let go. Who do this guy think to touch you?

The guy otherwise did not let go to. They started to fight before a manager came to the situation and make everyone leave.

Kiryu look at you before giving you a plush he won while he was not with you that's why he left. Finally you guys ended up at his house playing game with the plush between your arm.

Nirei

You guys were walking on the street heading to a meet up with the other.

It was a nice day you actually came cause the meeting was called kinda late and you really wanted to meet your boyfriend's friend.

So here you are walking listening to Nirei talking about how Sakura tried to again started a fight and how he tried to stopped it while Suo encouraged it by his sarcastic comment.

At some point a guy came by you stopping you on your walks.

Dude tried to poorly rizz you when Nirei told him you weren't interested and then HE was YOUR boyfriend.

But the guy didn't like that his fist up he tried to hit Nirei when you stopped him and hit his elbow with your knee. Bam you broke it.

The guy left crying how much it hurts. Nirei was so impressed by you he even asked you to teach him how to do that.

You looked at him laughing when you slowly realise his friend was behind him. With all the sound the fight did obviously furin came to see what happened. And they saw everything.

And that is how you met you boyfriend's friends.

note: im ngl, this unintentionally turned into a crackfic while i was writing the chaos that are these boys. the idea of a picnic was from when umemiya mentioned in ep 3 about having a bbq over the summer, so why not have that go full circle! also, hiragi is the unofficial mother of bofurin, someone change my mind

"You've got to be kidding me…"

Hiragi muttered from under his breath, pinching the bridge of his nose in very visible agitation. "You called us in here for this?!"

Everyone stood, slack-jawed at the sight before you all—a sprawling picnic spread out on the grass, complete with blankets, baskets of food, and even a few kites ready to be flown.

Suo laughed heartily. "I was wondering, too. Considering how y/n-san is also here with us."

Nirie nodded along. "Y-Yeah, since they're not even part of the gang."

"Awww, Nirei, are you saying you don't want me around?" you teased, making the poor boy's facial expression drop wide.

"N-NO, NO, OF COURSE NOT! I-I WOULD NEVER THINK THAT!" blasting both your and Sakura's eardrums.

"Tsk, tone it down a bit, will you?" Sakura grumbled. "We're not deaf. Yet."

Nirie looked thoroughly embarrassed, his cheeks flushed as he muttered an apology.

Umemiya pouted, crossing an arm over the other. "But they're Hiragi's lover! It's a must to bring them to an event like this! Don’t you all agree??”

Hiragi sighed, rubbing his temples. "Tsk, this guy is already a lost cause godamnit. There's no stopping when he sets his mind on something."

"Ahah…" you sheepishly chuckled at Hiragi's reaction. 

"But Hiragi-san! Wouldn't you say that being in Furin also means that you're 'one of us'?" Suo chimed in with his signature grin that could make anyone itch to punch Suo's pretty face and that horrid, infuriating grin of his.

"Ahem… Speaking of which, can someone tell me what he is doing up there?" Kiryu asked, pointing to the tree where Umemiya was now attempting to hang a banner that read "Happy Picnic Day!”

None of you were particularly impressed.

Umemiya looked down, waving cheerfully. "Just adding some festive touches to lighten the mood! It's not a picnic without decorations, right, Hiragi?"

Said Hiragi gave a scalding look, "More or less..." making you snicker.

Meanwhile, Umemiya was in the background, doing God knows what—now perched in a tree while still attempting to tie streamers to the branches, humming a cheerful tune, completely oblivious to the dead looks from below. 

Something told you that this was going to be a long, long day. And beyond the so-called circus surprise that was revealed before you all, the idea seemed innocent enough until the reality of managing the Bofurin students set in.

"No wonder Umemiya had asked me to help wrangle the circus together," you mused to yourself.

Everyone turned to look at you with sweat-dropped faces. 'What did you just say��?'

Umemiya was practically beaming with pride as the picnic setup was finally complete, "Now, let's enjoy this beautiful day together shall we?!"

"....."

"Oh, come on! Don't just give those solemn looks. Go and have fun!"

An order from the commander that not even Hiragi could ignore. And so, "fun" was in order. And as the sun dipped lower in the sky, a warm glow spread over the picnic area. Hiragi and you somehow found a rare moment of quiet away from the chaos that is the Furin gang. You both sat side by side on a small but peaceful hill overlooking the Furin members, weary expressions mirrored on your faces.

"I swear, every time I think they can't surprise me anymore, they prove me wrong," Hiragi muttered with exasperation, running a hand through his hair. You honestly believed that he was going to pop another pill in his mouth for all the graying stress that happened just today alone.

You laughed softly, nudging him with your shoulder. "You know better than to expect anything less from them. I should have seen it coming. 

"Ugh… But I thought maybe, just maybe, they'd behave for once." And taking just a singular peek back at the group, Hiragi sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose at the sight. "Sugishita, can you please help us set up the tent properly? We need to make sure it's secure."

Sugishita looked over, mid-stare fest with Sakura, and gave a noncommittal grunt. Not exactly convincing everyone that he would comply.

"Yeah, we don't want it chomping on Matsumoto's head like what happened last time," you mused. 

"Sugishita, Umemiya really wants it done right now," Hiragi added, trying one last time. And instantly, like clockwork, the boy perked up, releasing Sakura and marching over to the flattened tent, and immediately getting to work. 

You and Hiragi exchanged an amused glance. When in doubt, "pulling the Umemiya card always works," you whispered with a quiet snicker.

Hiragi scoffed. "Every damn time."

As everyone split off into their cliques, soon too would chaos unfold in a rather predictable fashion in your and Hiragi's eyes. And as if on cue, Sakura clicked his tongue and split off from the rest, leaving Nirei to scurry alongside, followed by Suo. Minutes later, you would hear their voices rising in volume with each passing second, the first years bickering over the best way to arrange the picnic blanket.

"S-Sakura-san, it should go here! The sun is better this way!" Nirei insisted, trying to tug at one corner of the blanket.

"Are you fucking blind? The shade is perfect over there!" Sakura countered, pulling in the opposite direction, making Nirei nearly trip.

"Hmmm, well, I think you're both wrong," Suo chimed in with a rather unnecessary comment about his wrong. "Don't you think it would be better if we put it in the middle?" Only to receive a deadpanned look from the two. 

You exchanged a knowing glance with Hiragi. 'And so it begins.'

You glanced over your shoulder at the group, watching Suo and Nirei squabble over the picnic blanket while Sugishita and Sakura inevitably clashed once again, their bickering escalating into a full-blown wrestling match—which, admittedly, was not a surprise to anyone there. It was quite entertaining to watch for a lot of them. No longer was it the serene "picnic," as Umemiya had initially envisioned, but rapidly devolving into a spectacle of their usual antics.

Tsugeura, ever the fitness enthusiast bordering on obsession, had, much to everyone's bewilderment, brought his training gear and proceeded to do push-ups and squats between bites of food, much to everyone's amusement. That is, until he started spitting his so-called advice about his "virtue" and what it meant to be truly fit. Safe to say, everyone made an effort to stay the hell away from him as far as possible.

Kiryu, meanwhile, was glued to his cell phone, tapping away, utterly oblivious to the mayhem around him. Not like he particularly cared. And nor did Kaji, who had both his feet propped up on the picnic basket of all things while listening to music to his heart's content. All the while, Kusumi and Entomoto attempted for Kaji to, for once, pull his head out of his ass and to actually be actively engaging with everyone from Furin when they were together. An attempt was made—an attempt that did not end in success.

To the surprise of everyone, yet no one, Sugishita was at the grill, utterly determined to cook the perfect batch of meats for this lord and saviour, Umemiya Hajime. He prodded the sizzling cuts with intense concentration and budging eyes—as if they were going to pop out of their eye sockets at any moment—though the occasional flare-up of flames and his singed eyebrows suggested it wasn't going entirely to plan. 

"Uh, Sugishita, you might want to turn the heat down a bit…" Hiragi advised with a cautious cough, watching the grill spit sparks like a miniature firework display that was on the verge of blowing up.

Sugishita let out a short grunt, just as a particularly aggressive flame shot up, singeing the edge of his shirt, making Hiragi sigh, exchanging a knowing glance with you. 

"And here I thought this would be a relaxing day…"

You could tell that Hiragi was embarrassed to have you see this side of him, but you didn't mind it. "There's no such thing as relaxing with them, really," you laughed. 

Then, a loud crash interrupted the peace, followed by Suo's laughter, Sakura's indignant shouting, and Nirei's desperate pleas.

"S-Sakura-san! Y-You can't start fighting Sugishita-san right here!"

"WHO THE FUCK CARES?! HE JUST THREW A SAUSAGE AT ME FOR NO REASON!!"

"At least it was fresh off the grill, Sakura-kun," Suo smiled.

"YOU—"

"....There they go again."

Safe to say, it was a long day for you both.

Hi penny! Saw that you finished playing infinite wealth (hooray!) and i’m interested to know what you think of kiryu from this game? Considering iirc you haven’t played the kiryu saga. And obviously you can’t say too much because of spoilers but i’m curious anyway 🫣

oh he is so,, so fucking GOOD!!!!!!!! i love how diametrically opposed him and ichi are in terms of vibes, like they come from two completely different sides of the same coin which makes it all the more satisfying seeing them work off of each other more closely. it was so incredibly interesting having come in off of Y7 almost exclusively and just feeling the years upon years of history dripping off of kiryu, and i always intended to do so but now i have basically no choice but to spend the time in between this game and the inevitable 9th one catching up with kiryu's side of things. i skimmed through a lot of the more heavily referential side content in order to keep myself SOMEWHAT fresh for that, which ended up working out nicely as i managed to get just enough context to enjoy the story of 8 while still having no real idea of the depths of nuance and individual events that go down prior to 7. either way, it's so funny looking back at my initial reaction to the announcement of infinite wealth at RGG summit and how i was so confused as to why they would do a dual protag thing after already passing the torch, cause i basically feel the exact opposite now LOL. i see why they did things this way for infinite wealth specifically, though i do hope to see a continued focus on building ichi into just as deep and human a character as kiryu over time. i love ichiban to death and i love how much his character basically spits in the face of all cynicism almost to a fault, i wouldn't change that for the world it's such a key part of his character and it's necessary i think in order for him to be a protagonist that is unique enough to stand alone the more he hopefully takes the spotlight, but the idea of seeing him continue to be tested and prodded in the ways that kiryu seems to have been really excites me, so i think having the juxtaposition of the two characters in full display was really valuable in that regard.

The moonlight shone on you made you look melancholic, Kiryu then asked himself if this was really the right thing but such thoughts were immediately lost when he looked. The moon shone upon two lovers in bed, both in a state of relaxation, one of her hands lay atop the man on her chest, and the other lay on his waist, her lips on his forehead, as the man's eyebrows only creased not because of discomfort but because of the comfort ness his beloved is giving him. He closed his eyes as he enjoyed the feeling she gave him; she was his heaven, his salvation, his everything. His soulmate.

She pulled back from their embrace and kissed each cheek with affection before moving down to his nose and finally kissing his lips as a sweet melody filled the air. The woman then raised the hand that was in his waist to his back, to slowly trace the tattoo that shows his life, his struggles, and the person he is.

The Dragon of Dojima, a ruthless man who can take on a whole clan to himself, a respectable man who will always put a strong face, but when it comes to you, he just can't keep his composure, Kiryu Kazuma can't.

She looks up at him once again, smiling adoringly, and whispers “You're the love of my life, Kazuma.” She leans down to kiss his forehead once more.

He feels so blessed to be loved by such a beautiful soul like hers. As they embraced their love for each other as his head was in her chest, he only had one thing in mind. . .

"Are you really sure you want to stay with me (Y/N)?" Kiryu said in a low voice. He looked at her through his eyelashes, and his face seemed to show the slightest hint of sadness. He could hear the heart in the position he was in maybe it was your heart that comforted him to say such a thing, maybe he was scared that one day he wouldn't be able to hear each drum of your hand but only your cold hands.

"Why ask Kazuma?" you replied as you closed your eyes and then started stroking his hair. A gesture you knew very well that calms Kazuma.

"Well, I'm just. . . scared. . .that one day you're going to be put in the mess because of the life I choose."

Scared.

He never said such words even to those who are closest to him, Kiryu is a protector he is the one willing to tank all wounds just for the one close to him and that also implied to you too, and of course, you understand, the dragon in his back significance his way, the path he courageously took. Kiryu Kauzma is scared. Scared that one day he'll never feel your fingers around his hand or your lips anywhere on his face, while you mumble the sweetest things to him, or maybe he won't have more memories of you cooking for Haruka or being there for the both of them.

"Oh, Kazuma. I knew what I was getting myself into when I first laid my eyes on you, but when the day I kissed you, the day I told you that I'm willing to be yours forever, I truly mean that." You said softly, Kazuma knew this but whatever power you hold, whenever you told him that you love him with all your heart he just can't help but doubt.

"Before you say anything, I know that you're doubting me not because of my love but my commitment to you. " Kiryu looked up to you and let you continue, "And so of that, please don't be afraid to be mine and trust in my commitment."

"You know Kazuma. . . I've always wondered what I will look like in a white dress, while you wear a whole black yukata." Such a comment had a chokehold on Kazuma.

"W-What do you mean by that?. . ." Kiryu said as he jolted and looked into your eyes. He was trying to find any kind of lies, but only he saw was real compassion and honesty of what you just said.

"Well, I'm trying to say is, if you really feel that way, then let's get married Kazuma, will the ring on my finger convince you?" You said straight to his eyes, implying that you were serious.

"Then if you want we can have children of our own. To show my love for you." You then move closer to him hugging his bare chest.

He looks down, blushing deeply. It would be easy enough to agree to a marriage, after all, he doesn't think he'd ever refuse you anything anyway, even his life, but why would you want children of your own? You guys already have Haruka, but why does the image of you holding both Haruka and her younger sibling warm his heart?

Will they have your eyes? Your hair? Maybe they're going to have your smile? Maybe they're going to inherit his eyes or maybe both of your eyes? But he knew that the enemies of his past would always hunt him no matter what, but it's your wish, your dream, and he'll do anything for you including protecting your dream. After a pregnant pause, you finally spoke up.

"Of course Kazuma we don't have to get married if you like-"

"I'll do it."

You open your mouth to let out a quiet gasp. The softness of his reply showed how vulnerable he is to you, showing just how much you mean to him. You couldn't stop smiling softly even if you tried. Your love is like the sun, radiating light everywhere he goes and everyone he encounters.

"I am willing to marry you (Y/N) if that's what you want to. . ." he said as he now grasped your knuckles and brought it to his lips. The contrast of his rough hands to your soft ones.

The moon shone on you and made you look ethereal, a true goddess in his eyes, your beauty is truly something to behold, but Kazuma falls for your sweet personality only getting stern when needed too. He loves the way your eyes glimmer with care whenever you're around Haruka, your voice whenever you talk passionately about something, and most of all, you understand him. You are what he needs in his gloomy life a light that contrasts him, you are like an angel sent upon the higher one, maybe you guys are just meant for each other. He will not let anyone get in the way of both of your love.

"I'll protect your dream (Y/N), your dream is mine too, I'll give you everything you asked for, I will keep protecting you and Haruka till my last breath, that is my promise to you. . . as your future husband." His expression became softer, his eyes shining in the night and you found yourself leaning your head against his shoulder to feel him to you, and he knew that he would marry the right woman, who would stay with him till his remaining breath. He will say it countless times, he will protect you and Haruka no matter what, even if it means having blood on his knuckles, anything for his wife and his future children . . .

SO KAZUMI

I don't particularly see her as genderfluid like I do Goromi but!! I do see her as a drag identity, just not as bold as the former.

Kazumi in a sense is very much how I interpret Goromi - that being she's pretty much the same dude but now in a wig but with a few changes.

she'd for sure have a Kiryu-esque seriousness to dressing up as in treating it like some kind of mission than a more casual thing. she'd have to be reminded like yo this ain't a substory, you can put your lipstick on without the concentration of someone fighting for their life.

in a way being Kazumi is a sort of break for Kiryu. he HAS to chill out and it's rough at first but eventually he's like okay, this is okay, I can just be

she's even more quiet and reserved than Kiryu already is, preferring to be left alone. it's a mix of not exactly knowing how to feel in drag and general internalized embarrassment so she's not up to being social about it. there's certainly an uncharacteristic lack of confidence on her part and needs a bit of encouragement to really feel like she isn't looking ridiculous.

Kiryu seems like, a by the book type of guy, due to his upbringing and general way he carries himself, so putting on drag is very alien to him. like, he can certainly see other people doing it. but himself? wild. that said, he's bold and fairly immune to what people think of him but something about being Kazumi, for a good chunk of time, is very intimate, especially if he's around people he knows.

when she's with people she trusts, that's when she starts having a good time, maybe even being a lil bombastic then immediately covering her mouth when she laughs too loud. but if her present company comforts her, she'll be happy to let slip a more excitable version of herself. it helps knowing that, for the time, she's just someone else and that someone else can do whatever the fuck they want. it's even better that few people would recognize her, let alone even think a guy like Kiryu is Kazumi at first glance.

Kazumi is a bit of a tease, a bit more sensual. not flagrantly obvious but it's there, with the way she sways her hips and looks at you with those beautiful eyes™ that say everything and anything you wanna hear. Kiryu's a very reactive type of guy, doing this and that because of something else. Kazumi however takes the initiative in little ways as a measure of testing her own waters, as to do something Kiryu probably wouldn't unless provoked. Kazumi has no goals, she lives in the moment and wants to enjoy it on her own terms.

dresses in colors very much like her usual suit (red, gray, white). will be super self conscious about her ass hanging out in short dresses and if you come at her with the 'but you don't mind if you're wearing a fundoshi?' and you can literally see the gears turning in her head.

not super great at fighting in heels (compared to Goromi) so she's not pulling crazy moves or running around. she prefers beast mode and the graceful art of blunt force trauma to play keep-away

KAZUMAJI TIME I'm unwell

so the way Kiryu interacts with Goromi is SO important to me and it's equally just as important for my thoughts on Kazumi so you'll see a lot of parallels here.

Majima is MAD horny for Kazumi it's unreal. impressively brainrotted even by goblin standards. partly because it's very exciting to see Kiryu prettied up and partly because he can just see the ✨ gender ✨ radiating off of Kazumi even if it's not as much of a gender thing for her as it is for Majima. he gets that chest tight sort of happy seeing Kiryu try something so important to him.

definitely shows his love via gift giving and physical affection. Kazumi's not big on gifts in general because it's embarrassing so she has to often convince him to just take her out for a good time and that's fine enough. for her, the affection is more important than anything and she'll admit, she likes to be wooed

I have to include Haruka cuz how can I not 🥺 she definitely helps out with makeup and hair. it's not perfect but she's the only person Kazumi will not squirm around for. Kazumi will sit still a little for Majima/Goromi to help out but she's gonna complain about it the whole time.

every minute Majima's not hanging onto Kazumi like she's his trophy wife is another minute he dies inside. he makes it an event to let everyone know he's got the hottest girl in town and it makes Kazumi feel pretty damn good.

Kiryu knows he's hot as hell so that extends to Kazumi as well—small crowds preferably though. despite enjoying a bit of attention, she still prefers plenty of alone time. there is significant anxiety for her to be the center of attention either because someone might recognize her or because things going to shit is just how Kiryu's life tends to go.

she lovesss getting a rise out of Majima, especially if they're in a place he has to behave. since he's her biggest fan, she does like a good bit of ordering him around, often to the point he's actually irritated but that's just part of the game for them, being smug heathens @ each other. I'm a goblin for possessiveness and jealously so throw in a bit of that for flavor 😏

I have a Kazumi x Majima fic where she's very dommy mommy and he's a meek lil worm and I think that's a sign of nature healing.

BIG fluffy Goromi interactions, they're very affectionate together and Goromi's just so giddy to have Kazumi go out with her. she will however bite people's fingers if they so much as wave in Kazumi's direction. the excitement from Goromi does help stave off Kazumi's own insecurities.

being with Goromi does give Kazumi a bit of perspective she otherwise wouldn't really understand as Kiryu. I can see her having one of her typical "wow, people sure do live differently than I do and I've gained more respect for such things" sorta deal lol. basic stuff but significant to those around her.

Did start Yakuza 5 yesterday! I played for 6 hours, had a BLAST. Finished chapter 1 and got a good amount of time put into chapter 2. I enjoyed going around town, grinding and doing side content. Had to gather my thoughts so posts had to come later. Yes, this is a two-parter.

Some thoughts below! I made NOTES for myself on characters and such this time around. This post is gonna be more plot and character speculation-focused; the next post will be more about gameplay mechanics, side content, general thoughts etc.!

SO! We're in 2012. Two years, huh. Seems like everything has kinda gone the opposite way from my wishes after the end of Y4, especially in regards to Kiryu.. or should I say, Suzuki's character. I really wanna know what happened in these past years to make him run away like this. He seems MISERABLE!! I feel bad for him😭

Daigo infodumping to Kiryu about Tojo business while Kiryu was just trying to get his paycheck was kind of funny to me, not gonna lie. But also kind of sad. Kiryu seems to be trying even harder to cut off anything Tojo from his life, even as Daigo was trying to reach out. I'm so curious about this time skip era!! Give me the tea!!

Okay. I was kinda assuming Morning Glory was gonna be left behind or kind of in the background (based on Kiryu's outfit), but... Haruka as well, huh. That's. Yeah. And he (debatably) hasn't straight up just abandoned them 100%, he's putting SIGNIFICANT and harsh distance between himself and the people he cares for. Ouch. Feels eerily similar to what he did in Y0 with Nishiki, Kazama, Reina and Kashiwagi.

This is all very... drastic. Changing his name, moving away and leaving EVERYONE behind? Including Haruka? This is exactly the opposite of what Kiryu was vowing to himself, to Daigo and even to Saejima in a way back in Y4. Either the writers changed their minds about his arc or something is off. I'm dreading finding out which one it is. Currently I feel like he's either actively in major danger right now, and hence decided to resort to such measures, OR something happened that he blames himself for.

I love Nakajima. He's so good! In general as a person (at least it seems that way) AND to Kiryu. Which probably means he's gonna die. RIP in advance, King🫡🫡

This dynamic is either gonna be absolutely insufferable, or maybe kind of okay. I have no predictions on how this will turn out, I was completely wrong about Kiryu's possible character arc in this game so... idk. Kiryu has blindsided me. But for now I don't think this will become a romance.

What I find interesting is the tidbit Nakajima gave about the situation where Kiryu saved her, where Nakajima also met him for the first time - Kiryu was getting DESTROYED in a fight. Kiryu, destroyer of whole clans, the one-man army, getting his shit kicked in by random local yakuza? Was he trying to refrain from using any sort of violence (even in self-defence??), or... was he recovering from significant injuries he got before the fight?

Now, I'm just assuming, based on Mayumi's character profile section and Nakajima's description of the woman Kiryu saved (she was very pretty) that Mayumi IS the woman Kiryu was defending when Nakajima first met him. I'm quite sure it was her.

What I wouldn't give to hear his thoughts in this scene... I was very conflicted the whole time; on one hand I wanted to SHAKE Kiryu and side with the Tojo guys. Why abandon Daigo? I understand it's probably just so he doesn't get stuck in another Tojo mess, but... it's Daigo!! Come on!! But I can also see that Kiryu feels... guilty?? Conflicted?? There was a storm of EMOTIONS brewing in his eyes. What a mess. He clearly doesn't like the situation but he also really wants NOTHING to do with it.

Kinda off topic, but massive props to those two for taking Kiryu on so boldly despite knowing who he is (was? I have no idea). They are Tojo men, they've heard the stories. Yet, they still tried. The balls on these guys!!

As for the man of the hour... Daigo. MIA - conveniently right before this alliance (opposed by some important people) gets to fully come to fruition, as the current leader of the Kansai group is dying soon🤔

I feel as though Daigo knew something would happen. He sought Kiryu out and was quite insistent to talk to him. At the beginning of the game I found the lore dump he dropped on Kiryu's unwilling mind weird and almost amusing, but looking back on it now... it almost feels like he was giving Kiryu information he'd need to solve the case if he happened to go missing. He even named possible suspects.

Why not go to a trusted clan member? They'd probably throw a hissy fit and wanna call everything off, maybe even start a new, very bloody conflict. All just because Daigo suspected something might happen to himself. This whole situation stinks.

Current theory: one, or all three, of the Kansai leader hopefuls are in cahoots with the uhhh *checks notes* Yahata(?) dude. The Yamagasa family captain. Why? To stop the alliance because they all hate the Tojo clan. They probably have Daigo locked up. Or maybe Daigo is dead already.

One final thing: was NOT thrilled to see "Part 1: Kiryu Kazuma" 😬 I was kinda hoping for a single-protag game, tbh 👉🏻👈🏻

Okay, hear me out! IF the other protag(s) is/are the Yakuza 4 lads, I'll be okay! But if there's a new guy (or, god forbid, 2 of them), I don't know if I'm gonna like that. I liked Y4 a lot, but it was also a lot to keep track of, and it felt like everyone got very little time in the spotlight - especially Kiryu and Saejima.

I'm almost suffering from... new protagonist fatigue after 4. I'm okay seeing many new side characters, but new playable characters with their own fighting styles that I have to learn, human relationships, backstories and motivations... Getting to know and to "bond with" another batch of new playable people seems like a very tiring task to get through at this point.

If we have 2+ protagonists, I want them to be from Y4 or earlier, because I already know them in a way and I'm not opposed to seeing more of them because it doesn't seem as overwhelming. I wanna see more of Saejima at least, if we HAVE to have alternating protagonists.

Lots of Christmas shopping for the kids at Morning Glory. Getting hot drinks and walking around together during a snowfall. He wouldn't expect you to do this with him but he likes to volunteer at events, like soup kitchens for the homeless, during this time of year.

Majima Goro

Him want go see the big fancy holiday lights with you. That's it. He just wanna go see some neat decorations and ooo and aaa. Also just wants to drink hot drinks and eat hot food with you.

Saejima Taiga

Doesn't care for public holiday events so much but he WILL be making a giant cauldron of homemade soup for you both. You don't have to help out but he would love it if you did!

Akiyama Shun

Not much a festive guy, typically spends holidays just sleeping a lot. Would go out for a particularly fancy dinner with you though. Does tag along for Christmas shopping if only to take notes on what you seem to like so he can buy it for you later.

Tanimura Masayoshi

He's pretty new at dating so he doesn't know what couples do for holidays but his personal tradition is making tons of handmade dumplings at Homeland and handing them out to all the families in the international district. He'd love it if you tagged along to help, maybe even tying some cute bows on the baskets before delivering them together.

Ryuji Goda

Big of heart and dumb of ass man Ryuji's favorite holiday thing to do is to make literally everyone in the Omi Alliance decorate the HQ. That includes you. Of course, since you are his literal favorite person, you get first and last say of what goes. It's really fun for the both of you, running around and throwing up decorations, telling grunts to put that there and not over there and what the hell were they thinking putting those lights with that color ribbon.

Nishikiyama Akira

He wants to visit all the cutest cafes and try their seasonal items. Nothing like a cutesy dessert for two... or two desserts. Or three. Also likes to wear matching scarves or matching gloves.

Daigo Dojima

He's also fairly unfamiliar with what couples do during the holidays but he's trying his best. Will take you out for a nice dinner for sure. He tends to prefer attending winter festivals instead of events for more modern holidays so if you're willing to try that, he'd love to go with you! His personal favorite holiday tradition is just enjoying hot tea while watching snow fall.

Mine Yoshitaka

He's pretty inward most of the time so holiday chaos just makes him want to stay home. Usually just decorates inside of his own home, he's not really religious but he likes the appearance of a Christmas tree so he typically goes with that. Would love to shop for some ornaments for you to hang up specifically.

Tatsuo Shinada

Literally all he wants to do is wear a Santa hat. That and probably go bar hopping on Christmas Eve. He's all about just relaxing and having a fun time, so long as he's with you. Would go caroling with you, although be warned he sings a little off key.

Ichiban Kasuga

He's probably one of the few out of all the boys that genuinely isn't picky about doing much during the holidays. As long as he gets to spend time with his loved ones, he's content. If it snows, he's definitely starting a snowball fight though. Would love to check out a holiday market with you though!

Tianyou Zhao

This silly head is making truck loads of homemade steamed buns and drinking a lot of tea and nothing can stop him from accomplishing his tasty holiday mission. He'd love to teach you how to make the buns. Likes watching you proudly place them in the steamer after he's filled them up.

Joon-Gi Han

His ass don't know nothin' about holidays! No, seriously, he's so confused. "Why's there a man in a red suit at the mall today?" Mostly just curious and kind of enamoured by all the activity spiking up all around the city. He's never really had a Christmas or much of any kind of holiday so you'll probably have to show him the ropes. Hot cocoa ends up being his favorite thing.

Souma: From what I could see, he has been talking to the higher-ups with a rather terse expression.

Kuro: Maybe they’re sayin’ somethin’ like “Actually, we changed our minds, we don't wanna give you youngsters this job”.

Kuro: I’m worried about him, cause if somethin’ like that is happenin’, he’s gonna be all stubborn and pushy about it. It’d be better if we didn’t piss off the higher-ups and have them turn on us.

Kuro: I know Hasumi always has a lot on his mind, but I’d personally prefer he just drop it instead of gettin’ in trouble with the agency.

Souma: Fufu. It seems as though Kiryu-dono is truly determined not to study.

Kuro: I just don't understand people that actually like studyin’. You seem to enjoy it a bunch though, Kanzaki.

Souma: I believe that the accumulation of knowledge is similar to training one's muscles or mastery of an art.

Souma: The difference simply lies in the fact that what is being exercised is the brain, rather than the body.

Kuro: The thought of trainin’ my brain never crossed my mind, cause I never really needed it.

Kuro: But well, just like trainin’ your body, it's not really useful in today's peaceful world. Bein’ good at beatin’ people up doesn't matter in this day and age.

Souma: Umu. Neither knowledge, nor martial arts, are strictly necessary to live in the modern world.

Souma: However, that is largely the reason that grants it significance.

Souma: Which makes one wonder, would it really be ‘correct’ to simply forgo it?

Souma: Humans are the only animals on this planet with a ‘culture’. We do not subsist solely on food.

Souma: Isn't the very fact that we have lived while partaking in such unnecessary behaviors what makes humanity valuable?

Keito: If we are to take on the job of hosting ‘Rumbling Heaven and Earth’, we have to fulfill a set of conditions presented to us—

Souma: What…? Were they not the ones that approached us in the first place? It does leave an acrid taste in one's mouth to have it be revealed to one that the job they are on the cusp of undertaking covertly has strings attached.

Kuro: I'd appreciate if ya spoke in plain Japanese for once, Kanzaki. Well, I've known ya long enough that I can pretty much understand what you're sayin’ through vibes.

Kuro: So basically, the agency is bein’ an unreasonable pain again, right?

Keito: I wouldn't necessarily call this particular case unreasonable. Since ‘Rumbling Heaven and Earth’ is such a long-running show, there are more involved parties than in other shows.

Souma: By involved parties, you mean to say?

Keito: If I were to specify, it's that ‘Rumbling Heaven and Earth’ is a program produced with the support and opinion of actual historians.

Keito: Which sounds about right. Since it's an educational history show, it goes without saying that they would create it with the support of major authorities in the field.

Kuro: Oh so It's like if ya wanted to open a food stall, how that territory's established yakuza gang would say “ya gotta pay a protection fee to open up shop!”

Souma: Kiryu-dono, being Kiryu-dono, often speaks in a manner difficult for me to comprehend.

Keito: I was told that in order to become the hosts of this show, we had to gain the recognition of the show's advisors.

Keito: Even if we, and the agency, feel like we're up to the task, the show won't succeed unless the advisors approve of it.

Keito: They said that without their approval, the show would be unfit to air.

Keito: So that's why, we have to travel around to seek the approval of those advisors— A group of historians known as the ‘Three Sages’.

Keito: We must have these ‘Three Sages’ endorse us as suitable hosts for ‘Rumbling Heaven and Earth’.

Kuro: They're called the ‘Three Sages’ huh… Doesn't it sound like somethin’ from a video game or manga?

There's nothing wrong in the A ward, the grounds and the garden terrace.

It seems that the garbage is piling up a little, so we should ask the cleaning staff to clean it up.

Souma: There's nothing wrong in the B ward, the reception and the vicinity of the school, either.

As expected, it's heavy work to walk and guard around the borders of the school. I needlessly trained my legs.

Kuro: We don't have enough people, it can't be helped. Don't complain, Kanzaki. …There's nothing wrong in the C or D ward either.

Keito: Thanks for the hard work.

I'm sorry, Kanzaki, Kiryu and Isara too. For having you help me out with my student council duties.

This time almost all students… Which almost means almost all official student council members, are participating in this DreamFes with their units.

We have less people who can perform the routine tasks than we have with a normal DreamFes.

The teachers are also being made to help out, however, under the pretext of having to maintain fairness, they are involved with things such as the tallying of the votes.

It's incorrigible, but we have to do things like patrolling.

However, it's quite difficult. Imagining there will be voting each hour makes me restless.

Constructing a large amount of outdoor stages and having a great number of units perform at the same time… It's the first time we tried something like this.

There is also a large audience. The students who usually quietly watch S1s and such in their classrooms are now walking around as they please as well.

It's all as Eichi commanded, so I can't complain.

I can't respond properly at all. It's hard for a normal person to understand what Eichi is thinking. I wish he'd also consider how it feels to be in my shoes, how it feels to be swung around by him.

The DDD… It'd be nice if everything would come to an end in a harmonious manner, without anything happening.

Kuro: Well, half of the units will have to retire each hour after all.

Can't you just pick reliable guys from there and leave some of the work to them?

It'll get better as time goes on.

Souma: Hmm. If we had decided to participate in the DDD, I would try to enjoy myself as an audience member after losing.

To be honest, I wouldn't even feel like working.

The DDD is a great battle never seen before in the long history of Yumenosaki Academy, it makes my blood boil…☆

Keito: Don't swing your sword around, Kanzaki.

Well, we shouldn't expect much from other people. We will support the DDD and, while also preparing for emergencies, we will solve all problems that arise.

We are going to set the stage so that Eichi and the others can shine to their limits.

We of AKATSUKI will be the unsung heroes of the DDD.

Kuro: Don't get too worked up, Hasumi.

The high and mighty student council president has come back, isn't it fine to make him responsible and just assume an easygoing stance?

Keito: Allies whose thoughts are impossible to understand are even more incorrigible than your worst enemy. Eichi is such an ally. He makes my head ache.

He also started this whole DDD thing without telling me anything about it.

Souma: So even Hasumi-dono doesn't understand the president's true intentions.

I'm sure that is the same for everyone who's participating in the DDD too… Most of them must also not really know anything and are just being led around by the merry atmosphere.

Keito: Eichi's true intentions… Even though it may not look like it, Eichi and I are childhood friends, so I do vaguely have an idea.​

That's exactly why I will stand in the background this time. I do not want to stand in his way. That's the only thing I can do for him.

According to the rules of the DDD, if AKATSUKI where to keep winning, there's a chance we have to compete against Eichi's fine.

We won't accomplish anything if we clash with our allies. That's something I do not wish for.

If there's anything else I can do for Eichi, then that's taking care of the routine work in order for the DDD to proceed smoothly.

Souma: Right. No matter what, the fight has already begun. Even if I were to say something like 'I want to participate in the DDD', it's already no longer possible to enter.

We won't stand on the battlefield this time. We should devote ourselves to our own duties.

If it were possible I wished we of AKATSUKI could also show off our spectacular military prowess on this battlefield as a yunitto.

However, if Hasumi-dono chooses to prioritize work, then there is nothing to be done.

Hasumi-dono is our AKATSUKI's leader. We will follow Hasumi-dono whether it's alive or in death.

Luckily, AKATSUKI has members familiar with armed struggle, so patrolling the venue is one of our strong points.

Keito: …I wouldn't have minded if you had participated in the DDD without me.

Choosing not to enter us in this DreamFes and choosing to prioritize my student council duties is my selfishness. You guys shouldn't feel obligated to follow me in that.

Kuro: Don't be so distant, aren't we comrades? Comrades are people whose mistakes you wouldn't mind getting caught up in.

Isn't our AKATSUKI a unit like that?

Not much time has passed after that S1, we should let our muscles rest. It's not like we're so young that we can put out our full power each and every time.

Life isn't only about winning DreamFes.

Souma: Though, if possible I wanted to retrieve the honor we lost in that S1.

Torikkustaa is on the verge of breaking right now, it's on the verge of death. If we were to defeat them as they are now, I would not feel relieved at all.

Defeating an enemy that isn't at their best won't be anything to write home about.

Although the president seems to feel differently about that. Like 'It's fine as long as we win'… I just can't sympathize with that.

Creating a fissure in Torikkustaa and making them unable to do anything before the battle has even started is a filthy way to do things.

Dorifessu is a war between aidorus, although that most likely is just lip service.

Torikkustaa has been made much too miserable. I can't bear looking at them, it's disgraceful.

…Oh. That isn't something I should have said while you are with us, Isara-dono.

Zero

It had started out simple, offering to let him take shelter under your umbrella on the way back home. It was a day when Ichiru was at home sick, and since you lived closeby you wanted to be kind to him and Ensure that not both brothers were sick at home. There was something so peaceful and cosy about walking next to him that you honestly felt disappointed when he left your side. Soon, you began to hang out with him often but you wouldn't allow yourself to get too emotionally attached, refused to let his handsome face creep in your dreams. Your parents had arranged a marriage for you when you were a young child, after all. There was already someone you were supposed to be with. Which is why you pushed your hands against his chest as he hovered over you, leaning in for a kiss that the both of you had been craving for some time now. Zero looked at you, wounded as you distanced yourself. "Zero, you know I have my fianceé," you said weakly, your heart breaking with every word. He shook his head in denial, "If you can look into my eyes and tell me that you honestly feel nothing between us. Then I'll stop and leave you alone." He said, his hands snaking on your waist once more. And you couldn't, you honestly couldn't tell him. Because you were a bad liar and anything else would be nothing but a lie, which Zero knew as well as you did. His lips crashed onto yours, and you couldn't help but kissing him back with as much passion as his hot lips burnt onto yours. Your hands found themselves to er hair, any promise to your parents forgotten the moment you tasted Zero.

Ichiru

Well, Kiryu numer two definitely had his way with words. The mental gymnastics he made you do when he roped you into playing his pretend girlfriend for this dinner certainly left you too confused to say anything but no. He was smoother with his words then Zero, that was what you internally grumbled as he introduced you to his parents. You already had met Zero a couple of times but not enough not to pass off the lie that you had began dating Ichiru as of recently. His parents seemed like nice people even though you knew they could make Ichiru feel insecure sometimes. You greeted them kindly and his mother started gushing about how happy she was that Ichiru finally had a girlfriend. As Ichiru had told you, she was very concerned about his future life and wether he would ever hold a job and marry like Zero would. Which was why you were here, pretending to be his girlfriend to mentally assure her he was going to be fine. So you ate her food and allowed yourself to enjoy the taste of her cooking, smiled as Ichiru cracked jokes at Zero and sometimes you couldn't help yourself from unladylik snorting as you laughed. You could not stop your heart either from skipping a beat when Ichiru began to feed you, a genuine blush rising to your cheeks as Zero rolled his eyes at you two 'lovebirds'. You thanked his parents for the meal when everything was over and allowed Ichiru to bring you home after everything. You couldn't speak along the ride, your heart thumping so loud you could feel it in your throat. When you exited the car, Ichiru walked you to our doorstep and surprising you massively, he held you in his arms and kissed you. You stared at him dunbfounded after he pulled away and he said, "I think I'd prefer being your real boyfriend and with the way you've been eyeying me during the car ride I think its mutual." "Shut up and kiss me again Kiryu," you said as you wrapped your arms around his neck. "Sure thing."

If Noctis put as much time and effort into every other aspect of his life, he'd be unstoppable. Unfortunately, his determination only extended to a select few things that he enjoyed – fishing and video games.

The local arcade seemed to be dominated by the name Maj. Noctis didn’t know for certain, but had a pretty good feeling he knew who it was. He knew Majima hung around there sometimes, so he decided he was going to beat all of his records one by one, leaving behind the letters NLC on the scoreboards like a calling card.

The last game he was called Sega Bass Fishing, and it was one of his favourites. He spent a good few hours on it, even after he beat the high score.

boredom had consumed majima once again as kiryu-chan was no where to be found, the dude being off to okinawa meant majima had no one to pester, & no one who would tolerate it somewhat. the next best thing majima could do was just hit up the arcades, picking the most popular choice that was club sega, it had the widest range of games, he'll probably play some virtua fighter, then look around at more of the games to see if he had to upkeep his high score anywhere.

he entered the bright red building that could be spotted from a whole ass mile away if such a thing was possible. there was a pile of different sounds going off all at once, one of the things he noticed was the mesuking machines were gone ... guess his ultra rare cards he had obtained from that were worthless now ; at least they were nice to look at.

every scoreboard he saw as looked at the machines seemed to be in order, MAJ was still the reigning champion in most of them, but on a fair few, it seemed someone NLC had taken over his spot ... who could that have been ? he never seen that name around this arcade before. luckily, whoever NLC was, he was shit at virtua fighter, majima wouldn't have wanted to have tried beating that score on that game if they had overtaken him there ... he had achieved a perfect in every round with each different character of the single play mode of that, that in itself was pretty hard to defeat given how cheap the cpu were coded for the arcade versions of these games.

outrun, & super hang-on however, NLC had overtaken him in those, so majima played a few games of them each until he beat the new high scores that were listed, proudly leaving behind MAJ again in their place.

the only game he hadn't checked now was that new fishing game they added, sega bass fishing ... weird concept for a video game considering anyone with a fishing rod could go out & do that in real life, but he guessed the same could be said about the others.

as he walked over to the new machine, he noticed it was occupied by someone ; someone he knew, fuck, that's who NLC was ... noctis caelum ? that was the dude he had mistaken for being part of the lucis caelum clan that was now causing issues for the tojo clan with their new leadership, he went to stand behind the other so to wait for the machine to be free, but the other didn't look like he had any intention of budging.

then he saw the score ... what the fuck was that score even ? the dude had somehow broken it ?

❝ yo, noctis, the fuck, dude ? whaddya doin' me like this fer ? do i run into yer turf n' ruin all yer high scores ? i've been the first on all the boards in here fer so long now ... ❞

to say majima looked upset was underexaggerating. he was devastated ! well, there was only one way to settle this now.

❝ ya mighta beat one o' my high scores, but how 'bout we take this outside, n' see who really is the champion ? ❞

Like a Dragon: Yakuza - Episode 3

I'm of two minds on this

The last episode of today's triple release leaves me in a weird spot. I want to divorce the show from the games and enjoy it on its own, but I'm constantly drawing parallels and comparisons in my head. And rightfully so, it is an adaptation after all, isn't it?!

Some of the changes I find genuinely cool. Some are choices I wouldn't have made myself, but I'm interested in how they play out. And some are just bad.

I'm not onboard the hate train that's rolling through the fandom at the moment. I am still looking forward to next week where the conclusion will take place. But I also mourn what could have been if the show had been placed in more loving hands.

Thoughts and spoilers below.

Oh my god heyyyy Haruka... Okay, byeeee Haruka...

God, I was yelling at my screen "Don't you dare just drop her off here". I was so pumped after Kiryu saved her at the end of episode 2. But she's not going to be important to the plot, is she? This just feels like a checked box. Aiko and Yumi both got some parental trauma, what with their mom going fishing for kulipaas in the lake, and it would make sense for Haruka to factor into the resolution of that. Now you are the self-destructive mother, Aiko. Are you really going to do Haruka dirty like your own mom did?

It was cute how Kiryu came to Haruka's defence when Yumi got a bit harsh on her, I loved those little moments. Sad we won't see any more of those.

Nishiki still likes Kiryu? Didn't see that coming. An interesting twist and a welcome one. In episode 2 there was a moment or two where Nishiki felt like a background character to Kiryu's story, which could be a catalyst for him going bad, like the game does it. "Oh man Kiryu went to jail? Shame, it should have been someone worthless like Nishiki". But Kiryu probably never gets to that level of recognition here, so it would be a weird aspect to keep. Although again, if Nishiki doesn't turn evil in those 10 years, what the fuck has he been doing with his time?

Although it is kind of a trope in the series that the more polite someone is from the get go, the more evil they get when shit hits the fan. Some of your best buddies start out as rude and even hostile. That's how you know they are great friend material. Perhaps Nishiki will reveal his true colours later.

Yumi: "You haven't changed. It's as if you were frozen in time." Nah, girl. He actually changed a lot. Like a lot a lot. It's one of the things i praised in my post for the last episode. Maybe in the jump from right before prison to now, he hasn't changed. But we the audience wouldn't be able to tell because we are not there yet in this bullshit double timeline. God, it annoys me to no end!

Oh my god heyyyy Taiga... Okay, byeeee Taiga...

My boys have been done dirty. I feel like this is a testament to the show's creators missing the point completely. Solid proof that they failed basic characterisation or worse, didn't care about it. The Majima from the games wears many masks, and it's easy to just think of him as a obsessive, knife-wielding maniac. But what he isn't underneath these masks is stupid. Majima is not stupid. He just doesn't care and weaponises his carefreeness against his enemies.

Likewise with Saejima. He is not stupid. But in the show they are prancing around like buffoons, opening fire in the middle of the street in broad daylight. And none of them seems to understand the gravity of a bullet wound in the torso? "If you die on me, I'll kill you" Woohoohoo, we're so kooky! Ah shit, he ded.

I do like Majima's actor's performance. And I like how in the opening of the fight he comes across as a more seasoned yakuza than baby Kaz and Nishiki. More of that Majima, please. But now I have zero confidence in the show handling post-downfall Majima with any cleverness or skill.
