Finally the day came for Benjamin’s trip to Britechester. Henford’s train station was empty, save for the theatre group and the Gale family who was there to bid him farewell.
Alice kissed her son goodbye, making sure he knew how to get from the station to Arabella’s house. When he had repeated the address for the third time, she finally let go of his arm and he boarded the train.
Benjamin spent the two hour train ride looking out the window. They flew past the English countryside, the trees and moors becoming a blurred sea of green.
Night had already fallen when Benjamin finally arrived at Arabella’s home on Mossy Lane.
He had barely finished knocking on the door to the big townhouse before it was opened by an excited Arabella, “welcome dear boy! Come in, come in,” she said, ushering him inside, “help him with his bag, Antoine.”
“No need, thank you though,” Benjamin said, giving his hosts an appreciative smile.
After some catching up, Arabella showed him to the guest room, “well then, the wash basin is there, I’ve put out some towels and a soap for you as well. I’ll go fetch some bed sheets. It’s quite small, but I hope it’ll do.”
“Yes, how dare you offer me such a cupboard of a room,” Benjamin said and laughed when he saw Arabella’s horrified face, “I jest, Ms. Goodman- sorry, should I say Mrs. Bradshaw?”
“Don’t frighten me like that, child,” Arabella chuckled, “and Ms. Goodman will do just fine, at least when you’re here.”
After the two had said their goodnights, Benjamin quickly got ready for bed, giddy in anticipation for the morrow day.
Benjamin looked himself in the mirror. He’d been given a thick winter coat, much like the ones he’d seen the wealthy landowners wear around Henford during the colder months.
Outside of the dressing room he could hear the muffled voices slowly getting louder as more people arrived. Martin had told the group to expect about a hundred people in the audience, the thought made Benjamin queasy. His anxieties were dampened however by the otherwise cheery mood in the room.
Benjamin was soon brought out of his thoughts by Kirsten’s voice, “could you help me with my hair? The others are utterly useless in that regard.”
“Yes,” he nodded and grabbed the hairbrush Kirsten held out, “I have sisters, so I’ve had plenty of practice.”
He started brushing Kirsten’s hair, trying his best not to meet her piercing eyes staring at him in the mirror, “are you nervous?” she asked after a while.
He finally looked up, “yes, a bit.”
“I can tell,” Kirsten said softly, “but you’re very talented, Benjamin, you’ll do great.”
Benjamin blushed and said a small thank you, still carefully brushing the long, brown hair.
After what seemed like an eternity in the dressing room, Martin finally stood up, gathering the group around him, "it´s time!" he excalimed.
Benjamin couldn´t stop smiling, this was it.

omg! your typing of alicia vikander left me bamboozled. i thought she was FN. doesn't she have that squarish body shape that you mentioned models usually have? like, i agree that she looks more dainty than angelina but she still looks super athletic no 🤔
she does have a square torso but she looks tiny and small not athletic or model like. she is 168cms/5'6 inches but looks much smaller. she has relatively short limbs and a "petite frame" and very delicate features as well.
(L to R)
Marion Cotillard, Alicia Vikander, Olivia de Havilland, Laura Linney & Kirsten Dunst
All the above women (except Alicia ofc) are verified Soft Classics. You can tell how they all have delicate features and a harmonious yin-yang balance. No individual feature stands out but together everything looks harmonious.
she's not in the least athletic looking. which is why imo, she was horribly miscast as lara croft.
she looks like a ballerina (and she did study ballet for several years), very soft, very classic but has some yang to her although its not very pronounced.
also remember, having abs =/= to being athletic or being an FN
even when she's ripped, she still looks small and delicate tbh
there is no way in hell she could ever be FN
I also think her official height is an exaggeration and she's probably 5'4 irl

I haven’t posted too many of my movie watching thoughts recently, so here are some cool films I’ve seen.
Pom Poko
This is one of those Ghibli movies I’ve been meaning to see for a long time now. I’m glad I waited because teenage me wouldn’t have gotten this movie. And I think that’s the case with Isao Takahata’s work in general. His movies really benefit from multiple viewings, so I will definitely be revisiting this in the future.
Pom Poko is a wonderful movie, part satirical farce and part elegy for traditional Japanese culture in the face of modernization. It’s about a group of shapeshifting raccoons who try to fight back against humans for cutting down their forest home. They face a variety of issues: many of the raccoons are lazy, not everyone is good at shapeshifting, and there is disagreement over just how violent their rebellion should get. The humor is outrageous and even raunchy, and the visuals are super surreal. I think the second hour dragged a little bit, but it’s brilliant nonetheless.
The Handmaiden
Holy SHIT you guys. This movie was every bit as good as the hype, a true “Hitchcock without Hitchcock directing” style movie. I haven’t been so thrown by twist after twist in a long time, and to top it all off, the central love story is wonderful. This is one you should actually go into knowing as little about it as possible.
Sweet Smell of Success
Far be it from me to contest anything Quentin Tarantino says, but he’s wrong about 1950s movies, which he paints as safe and repressed. He completely ignores some nasty fare, mostly noir: Ace in the Hole. Kiss Me Deadly, Sunset Blvd, Anatomy of a Murder-- and then Sweet Smell of Success. What a cynical piece of work, starring Tony Curtis and Burt Lancaster as two truly loathsome characters. The dialogue is sharp too. I wish I could casually throw off quips like this.
The Cat’s Meow
Peter Bogdanovich is very hit or miss for me, and this was a hit. It’s a fun what-if regarding the still unsolved death of William Desmond Taylor, with Kirsten Dunst as Marion Davies and Eddie Izzard as Charlie Chaplin. After watching the anachronistic Babylon, it was refreshing to watch a movie set in the 1920s actually look like the frigging 1920s.

Melanie Griffith and James Cromwell as Marion Davies and William Randolph Hearst in RKO 281 (1999). This is Mel's second honorable mention, after Buffalo Girls.
In The Cats Meow (2001, an entry among my best 1001), Marion was played by Kirsten Dunst, and William was played by Edward Herrmann. Jennifer Tilly played professional Hollywood gossip Louella Parsons.

Benjamin had started attending the little theatre group that Mathew had introduced him to. He loved standing on the make shift stage and preforming whatever new scene they were doing that week.
The cramped, dark room above the bar where the group would practice was an escape from his otherwise dull and monotonous life back at the farm. There, he could be anyone, do anything. With each different character, he lived a new life, away from sleepy Henford.
One day, Martin, the director as he liked to call himself, walked up on stage like he always did before they started, “today we’ll continue with Anna Karenina. Has everyone been practicing their lines? I’m looking at you, Kirsten.”
“Yes, papa, I know my lines,” Kirsten, who played Anna, said, rolling her eyes at her father.
“Brilliant,” Martin said, clapping his hands together, “well then, let’s get started!”
Kirsten and Finn went up on stage.
“We’ll start where we left off, Aleksej just found out Anna has been unfaithful,” Martin said, “Kirsten, do really try to convey Anna’s anger and hurt. In fact, why don’t you push Finn down when he confronts you?”
“Are you sure? That´s not in the script.”
“Well, I believe we’re allowed some creative liberties,” Martin insisted, giving his daughter a playful wink.
As always, Benjamin was absolutely spellbound, especially by Kirsten. The way she moved so effortlessly on stage, how elementary she made it all look.
“Let’s do a scene with Vronskij. Benjamin get up there lad,” Martin said when Kirsten and Finn had finished. Benjamin nodded nervously. He knew his lines by heart, but standing up there with Kirsten made his heart beat like he had just ran all the way from town home to the farm.
When practice was over and Benjamin was about to leave, Martin called him over, “lad, just a moment,” he said, pulling him aside, “well done today, you’ve become quite the actor! Now to the matter at hand, we’ve been invited to preform in Britechester.”
“Really? Blimey, what an honour!”
Martin nodded, “indeed. So you’ll come along?”
“Definitely!” Benjamin exclaimed. An opportunity like this he could not miss.
Benjamin hurried home to tell his parents the good news. But as he approached the farm and saw his mother and father, the realisation that perhaps they wouldn’t be as thrilled came crashing down.
Excitedly, he told them the news, trying his best to get them to understand how important this trip was, the doors it could potentially open for him. His fears were confirmed however when he saw his parents’ dismayed faces.
“I don’t know Ben,” Alice said, “it sounds quite expensive. Your father and I need to think about this.”
That night, Eugene braced himself for a scolding. Alice wasn´t all that happy about Benjamin´s love for the performing arts, and he knew that she blamed him for allowing Mathew to introduce their son to the theatre group.
"What are we to do?" she sighed, having finally managed to put Adriana to sleep, " I mean, this infatuation of his... He´s constantly in his own world, he neglects his chores, and now this? If we allow him to go it will only worsen his obsession."
Eugene let his wife ramble on for a while before voicing his own opinion, "I know you´re worried, dear, but perhaps we should let him go. He´s sixteen, he has his whole life ahead of him to do chores."
Alice opened and closed her mouth a couple of times, not sure what to think, "very well," she finally said, "on the condition that this is the last time we indulge this pipe dream of his. We have to prepare him for the real world, he´s not a child anymore."

The Man's World
The Man’s World
The Cat’s Meow (2001) by Peter Bogdanovich This movie is based on true events that happened on William Randolph Hearst’s yacht in November of 1924. How accurate these occurences were portrayed in the movie isn’t the concern of my review, however, ’cause, honestly, who can tell, it’s been almost a hundred years. In details the movie can’t be accurate, though the main events may have occured…
