Kintsugi is the art of decorating your scars with pieces of Agni.

In the Fire Nation, the amount of golden marks are a sign of status. Only the Royal Family can afford to seal every single wound with Kintsugi. Such is the weight of this tradition that, among the ones with Agni's blood, it is the highest mark of dishonor to have a natural scar, for it proves you aren't worthy of the privilege.

After the Agni Kai, Ozai forbid Zuko's scar to be sealed with Kintsugi. The boy wasn't worth his title, his traditions or his pride. Zuko would be broken, but he wouldn't be beautiful. Not anymore.

(And sometimes it's easier to pretend he never was)

He smiled small, until the rising sun began to burn behind his eyes. He grunted gruffly as the light forced him to squint before he even cracked his eyes open.

Is this really necessary?

Aang wriggled his way lazily toward the wall trying to get into the windowpane’s shadow, his eyes relaxing in sweet relief once there was darkness again. His body laid still as he released a small sigh. Slowly, his eyes fluttered open and the image of what saved them made him softly grin.

Zuko laid on his side, eyes closed with the sun escaping in bright shards over his body. Not the shadow Aang was trying to fall under, but it was a nice improvement...

touch of midas for the WIP game!

"Touch of Midas" is basically a character study of Hoder! I'd probably group it into the Kintsugi AU (hence the title), but it's technically canon-compliant. The idea is that it'd follow her from childhood up until her death, showing snippets of her life, her relationship with her brother, and how Scala's ideologies may have shaped her. I only got a short way into it, but it's a WIP that I'm really hoping to complete eventually!

            “Hoder.”  Tiny hands tugged on her dress.  “Hoder, we’re gonna get in trouble.”             “But I want to know what’s going on.”             She caught snippets of sentences—“think about schooling” and “best to start early” and “consider your standing”—but it was nothing that made much sense to her, and so she went back to staring at them, cheeks puffed in annoyance.             “Dad said we’re not s’posed to be here.”             “You don’t have to be here.”             “I don’t wanna be alone, though.”

Looked it up and found out that the name of the plate repair thingy is called Kintsugi ! It’s a Japanese method of pottery repair and It’s really pretty ,,

🪞 Fallen angel... who do you see staring back from the Mirror? 🪞

(ID: Kirby series fanart of Galacta Knight and my personal interpretation of his Mirror World counterpart. GK hovers above facing slightly to our left, his feathery wings spread wide, shaded in lilac and tipped with gilded wing talons, a swallow-like tail visible. He holds his shield forward in his left hand (our right) and his lance to the side in his right (our left), a single magenta eye leering at the viewer through the visor of his mask. A halo of heart spears floats and shines angelically behind his horns. Below him, M!GK hovers in the same pose but flipped horizontally and without the halo. Visually, M!GK has mostly the same features as GK, with his color palette being darker and less saturated (dusty purple body, dark gray armor, gray mask, maroon lance, rose-gold horns and weapons accents). Hey, so... what if... I went a little insane for a minute? What if I just... concepted a character... for the sequel... to an AU... I've told no one about... and haven't even finished writing yet? What if I then... pulled the salt shaker labeled "ANGST" out of the pantry and just... unscrewed the cap all over this poor lad? Oh, and Galacta Knight's here, too, I guess.

AU info since I’ve never talked about it on here lolz(and it’s one of my biggest Sonic projects)

This will be spoilers for the AU if anyone even cares. This scene is a conversation between Shadow and Mica in his dream. Mica isn’t a real character, rather he is a manifestation of a part of Shadow’s subconscious. He represents guilt and forgiveness bc Sonic kinda DIES in this AU lmao. The main point of writing it is to serve as a character study of Shadow, or at least my interpretation of him. So yeah, that’s enough info for now, I hope to be making more artwork for this so I can yap more :3

Gosh these additions have me swooning and crying at the same time, they are so very beautiful. The duality of the the Adar /silverscars / TROP fandom.

Celebrimbor caring for Adar's body in life and death, covering it in precious metals and also putting it to rest in a place it won't be disturbed while he's around to care for the tomb is just so- precious.

I love the thought of him doing that- and then go further thinking how he will arrive in Valinor, where Adar is waiting at the shores for him so they two can be together once more. And even though there should be no reason for it, Adar still has Celebrimbor's metal work as part of his skin, even though he has received his 'healing' in the halls of Mandos.

Turns out Celebrimbor's love and care for him has become a part of Adar - literally and metaphorically.

(...also the idea of Sauron trying to emulate Celebrimbor's labor of love and coming up one short is GOLDEN ngl.)

So after reading this lovely Celebrimbor/Adar arranged political marriage AU post, I have not been able to stop thinking about the potential of this ship.

In my initial reblog I added the tags:

#imagining adar being like: celebrimbor loves and makes things of beauty#clearly me and my children must be an affort to his eyes#and celebrimbor being eternally curious and so instead he's sort of fascinated#because they were forged really#just as much as any ring

And then I went to go capslock at @hunter-gatherer-stuff (who is the best and encourages all my brain's wild rabbit holes) about how Celebrimbor (being the huge nerd that he is) would be driven to understand how the Uruks were designed and function. He not be able to help the urge to study Adar.

And they, insightful as always, really struck on the idea that Celebrimbor finds beauty everywhere, that he can't help finding something to love in everyone he encounters. He is almost doomed to fall hard and fast over and over again and used to being valued as a tool to a certain extent but not really cherished the same way he cherishes. (We see Sauron exploit the hell out of that. )

But what is truly making me UNWELL was the next idea that I had:

What if Celebrimbor used Kintsugi on Adar? What if, instead of like Nenya seeking to undo what Morgoth did and return the person he was before he was Adar, which Adar rejected . . . Celebrimbor bound back together Adar's fractured form and face with precious metal : accentuating the places where he's been shattered in a way that honors those cracks instead of erasing them, making him whole without trying to undo what was done but instead of building. Making and finding beauty, art, and strength out of of where and how he was broken, building something more rather than seeing it as an obstacle to ignore or overcome.
