CROWN IN EXILE: A NOVEL OF RICHARD AND EDWARD IN BURGUNDY
A part of Richard III’s life often overlooked in fiction is the brief time he spent in exile with his brother, Edward IV, from October 1470 to March 1471. Usually, this event is a mere footnote in most novels, no doubt because it might be seen as ‘slowing down the action’ and also because the documentary sources are quite jumbled and difficult to tease out. For instance, at one time it was…

King Frankie (15): "Dare Thy Fateful Terror's Grasp".
One Mann's Movies Film Review of "King Frankie". A well acted but a tad predictable Irish drama. 3/5.
A One Mann’s Movies review of “King Frankie” (2024) (From the 2024 Irish Film Festival, London). The final film I’ve seen at this year’s Irish Film Festival, “King Frankie”, is a decent little drama, but I found it a little predictable in its storytelling. Bob the Movie Man Rating: “King Frankie” Plot Summary: Past traumatic events come back to haunt a Dublin taxi driver grieving the loss of…

A man who was wanted for stealing things was found under insulation in King’s Lynn. The police suspected the man of committing six thefts in two areas. They have been looking for him for a long time. The Weekly Gravy #40
The Weekly Gravy #40
Another light week, I fear, as I was again caught up in work and other writing projects – but then, I’ve done too little of the latter recently, and I think the time was just as well spent on them. But I did see three films, and a rather motley crew they are… All the King’s Men (1949) – ***½ This has always seemed to me to be one of the more overlooked Best Picture winners – the kind of film…

Re-visiting Norfolk
Thursday 13 July It is at least 10 years since we visited the North Norfolk coast having been there regularly from 1985 to 2008 whilst Sally’s parents were still alive. Early ferry from home, calm crossing and no trouble getting out of Liverpool. Boudecia cruise ship Fred Olsen’s cruise ship, Boudecia, in the cruise terminal. Stop at IKEA Leeds for lunch and of course you have to buy things –…

This Saturday afternoon myself and my girlfriend went to visit Maggie and the Dragon, which is a lovely cafe that is located in the courtyard of Hanse House in King’s Lynn, Norfolk.
My first impression of the place was that it was bigger than what I originally thought it would be. The interior had a variety of vibrant decor and different items dotted around the three part building.
The environment was quite atmospheric and ambient which was such a comfortable place to enjoy food and drink in. We enjoyed some falafel, chicken, chocolate cake, ginger beer and a cup of hot chocolate too which was all quite enjoyable.
The cafe’s core underling values are about the community, creative arts and wellbeing. I would definitely recommend going to this cafe if you are within the area of King’s Lynn. It is quite a good little cafe like no other that I have ever been to.
You can find the rest of my photos on my Facebook page.

Happy New Year
Tumblr media
New years resolutions don’t usually feature in my life, but I have decided to put more effort into blogging after the dismal efforts last year, so I guess this can be classed as a resolution.
I hope you all had a great holiday and that you gave and received a few good pressies too. I did. Oh boy.
I was gifted a wonderful vintage DYMO label maker by my good friend Michelle (who always gives great…

Book Review: Rise of the Fallen
Book Review: Rise of the Fallen #bookreview #bookbloggers
Rise of the Fallen by Donya Lynne
My rating: 3 out of 5 stars
This was a pleasant read, plot wise. I downloaded it to read because it was supposed to be a romance/paranormal novel, but I think it should have been an erotica novel. The sex scenes were very explicit, and were not really my cup of tea, so to speak.
But there was a decent story here. We have Micah, who is a centuries old vampire,…

Pull quotes:
We got Kings Lynn in the First Round Proper, a game in which I nearly cost us. In the last minute at 0-0, they had a corner and I lost my man - Fred Potter made a fantastic one-handed save to keep us in the cup
- Player-manager Colin Addison
Tony Gough said: 'We're going to get at least 30,000 people there and win, lose or draw we want a bigger bonus.' The chairman agreed to £100 a man
- Match winner Ricky George
We had our jobs – I was a carpenter – and so the postponements didn’t bother us
- Ronnie Radford
I was doing a bit of TV on a trial basis to see if I was up to it. So I got sent to Edgar Street as an afterthought for what the chiefs presumed would be a routine away win
- John Motson
My dad, the chief of police, offered to turn a blind eye saying: 'You haven’t heard me say it but go ahead and print some more tickets'
- Fan and future chairman David Keyte
Both myself and Ronnie were going for it. He can see me and he says something along the lines of 'Leave it t’me lad, get out tway'
- Colin Addison
I was policing at the side of the pitch. Now, I was a massive fan too and when it flew in I was off onto the pitch, leading the pitch invasion!
- PC Grenville Smith
It was a very sombre drive home. Joe [Harvey], bless him, had to stop the bus to be sick
- Malcolm Macdonald
Myself, Billy Meadows and Motty drove back to north London and took fish and chips to Billy’s place. There we sat, cross-legged on the carpet, watching Match of the Day
- Ricky George
