Monarchies are only fun in fiction. But overthrowing a monarchy in real life could be very fun

Legendary kings of Scotland by James de Witt.
69: Kennethus II (Kenneth MacAlpin)
Kenneth MacAlpin (810-858) or Kenneth I was King of Dál Riada (841–850), King of the Picts (843–858), and the first King of Alba (843–858) of likely Gaelic origin. He inherited the throne of Dál Riada from his father Alpín mac Echdach, founder of the Alpínid dynasty. Kenneth I conquered the kingdom of the Picts in 843–850 and began a campaign to seize all of Scotland and assimilate the Picts, for which he was posthumously nicknamed An Ferbasach ("The Conqueror"). Kenneth I is traditionally considered the founder of Scotland, which was then known as Alba, although like his immediate successors, he bore the title of King of the Picts. One chronicle calls Kenneth the first Scottish lawgiver but there is no information about the laws he passed.

Algy extracted the presents from his Christmas stocking in amazement, and with great delight, for Father Christmas had not only brought him a nice warm scarf to keep his fluffy neck warm in the wild west Highland winter, and a tiny puppet to play with, but also a wonderful painting set of his very own, complete with watercolour paints, paint brushes and a very smart little sketchbook – and, in accordance with tradition, a wee apple, clementine and walnut nestled into the toe of the stocking.
As Algy gazed at all his presents, he hoped very much that all his friends around the world who celebrated Christmas had also received lovely gifts, but he knew that sadly there would be many people who would be cold and hungry and lonely today, and he thought of an old Christmas carol, hoping very much that some kind friend would help those folk in need:
Good King Wenceslas look’d out, On the Feast of Stephen; When the snow lay round about, Deep, and crisp, and even: Brightly shone the moon that night, Though the frost was cruel, When a poor man came in sight, Gath’ring winter fuel. “Hither page and stand by me, If thou know’st it, telling, Yonder peasant, who is he? Where and what his dwelling?” “Sire, he lives a good league hence. Underneath the mountain; Right against the forest fence, By Saint Agnes’ fountain.” “Bring me flesh, and bring me wine, Bring me pine-logs hither: Thou and I will see him dine, When we bear them thither.” Page and monarch forth they went, Forth they went together; Through the rude wind’s wild lament, And the bitter weather. “Sire, the night is darker now, And the wind blows stronger; Fails my heart, I know now how, I can go no longer.” “Mark my footsteps, good my page; Tread thou in them boldly; Thou shalt find the winter’s rage Freeze thy blood less coldly.” In his master’s steps he trod, Where the snow lay dinted; Heat was in the very sod Which the Saint had printed. Therefore, Christian men, be sure, Wealth or rank possessing, Ye who now will bless the poor, Shall yourselves find blessing.
[Algy is singing Good King Wenceslas by the 19th century English writer and priest John Mason Neale.]

I know that depictions of Scottish people in media are hardly the most egregious or damaging in the grand scheme of things of “let’s fuck up understanding of a culture for funzies”, but I will never be over Kingsman 3’s utterly bizarre decision to have the grand reveal of their villain be that he’s Scottish and upset about the Highland Clearances.
He even wears tartan trousers for fuck’s sake, something I could not take in anyway seriously because those are what my headteacher wore to school events.
What’s your specific examples?
