King Charles and Camilla attacked with eggs by man shouting 'UK built on blood of slaves'

On Wednesday 9 November this year,  police tackled a 23 year old man to the ground after he attempted to throw eggs at King Charles on a visit to York.

Accompanied by Queen Camilla, the monarch was speaking with some of the fans lined in the street ahead of his much-anticipated engagement at York Minster when a protester seemingly attempted to hit the sovereign and his wife by pelting them with four eggs - some of which landed within a foot of the King.

He was also heard shouting: "This country was built on the blood of slaves".

As the eggs landed, a suited protection officer positioned himself next to Charles and briefly held his shoulder.

Several police officers quickly restrained the man believed to have thrown the eggs and bundled him to the ground while onlookers and royal fans expressed their sympathy to Charles.

Some were heard screaming "shame on you" at the protester while others cheered on the sovereign by chanting "God save the King".

The man, who is a University of York student, has been banned from having eggs as a punishment. Commenting on the news of ban, royal commentator Omid Scobie said, "That will teach him.'

dear dead boy detective (especially paynland) enjoyers: have you yet heard of the biggest gift bestowed upon the fandom so far, aka jayden's charles playlist? the one he mentioned in interviews? well, he dropped it on twitter at 19th of may. and man, do i have stuff to say about it.

there's a lot of 80's bangers, for sure, great to get into the mood and character, but some of the choices...

i'm gonna focus on a few of my favourites, songs that made me go insane when i saw them. honorable mentions: - category 1 (so devoted the lines blur): ain't no mountain high enough by marvin gaye and tammi terrell, there is a light that never goes out by the smiths, inkpot gods by the amazing devil - category 2 (family life): family line and summer child by conan gray, seventeen going under by sam fender, matilda by harry styles, father by the front bottoms - category 3 (being queer in the 80s): smalltown boy by bronski beat, boys don't cry by the cure - category 4 (there's no heterosexual explanation for this one): good luck, babe! by chappel roan, yellow by coldplay, fight or flight by conan gray (is this about monty? the cat king? i need answers!), the prophecy by taylor swift, arms tonite by mother mother, sweet by cigarettes after sex, head over heels by tears for fears

this list is by no means complete or comprehensive!

and now, the songs that made me go the craziest: (they're predominantly in charles' pov as it's his playlist)

found heaven by conan gray

the only reason this song made it into the list and not the honorable mentions instead of smalltown boy is that it makes almost the same point, just so much more explicitly. i don't think i have to say much about it, it's a story of a young person griping with their queerness, being forced to leave home, a common theme of the playlist. "you're in love, you found heaven" when he chose edwin over his own afterlife, heavily implied to be heaven, and built his heaven with him on the mortal plane? ouch! (and we see this same notion repeated in another bop from the playlist, heaven is a place on earth by belinda carlisle).

2. like real people do by hozier

"i miss kissing" charles rowland, 202X romantic meaning aside, the verses show a sort of a common understanding the boys have around the manner of their deaths and their lives before it. we already know from the show they don't really talk about it, with edwin not knowing about the severity of the abuse charles suffered. it feels like one of them saying "let the past be past, we're together now, yeah?". but also, jayden: can there ever be a platonic explanation for this? ghosts can't touch, can't feel, so they wish they could just kiss like "real" (alive?) people do?

3. flaws by bastille

not the most romantic song, but i absolutely love how well it fits their dynamic. despite his edwardian brand of repression, edwin truly is the one that's more open about his feelings (recognising of course that in this case, the bar is so low it's in hell. haha, get it). edwin has worn his flaws upon his sleeve, and charles has held them buried - eg. bottling up all of his anger and resentment towards his family and his own death. the song presents a very sweet outlook, in which their flaws are brought up to the surface (for example, charles' outburst against the night nurse in episode 4), but they learn to accept them as they are, an extension of themselves.

4. a pearl by mitski

you know it's gonna get intense if there's a mitski song in the mix.

the song is about a person who finds love in their partner, someone who treats them way better than they've ever been treated - and yet they cannot bring themselves to reciprocate the affection ("it's not that i don't want you, sorry i can't take your touch") despite reciprocating the feelings themselves because of the trauma. charles is known to bottle things up ("you're growing tired of me and all the things i don't talk about"). the person in the song recognises the love the other person holds for them ("you love me so hard and i still can't sleep"), which reminds me of charles' response to edwin's confession. not a "no", but a "maybe, as time passes".

5. fair by the amazing devil

this one made me genuinely gasp when i first delved into the lyrics. it's simply so sweet, such a genuine and domestic portrayal of love. at first i thought it was way too open about being a love song (normal text instead of the subtext i'd be used to) for jayden to choose it with edwin in mind, but... there's no one else it can really be about. it's far too domestic, too "established" to refer to crystal. refers to a relationship that's laster for a longer while.

the narrator in the first verse is a person deeply in love with the other person, someone who loves to make his lover laugh and simply drinks in their presence. the "he" in the song i believe is charles, while the "she" refers to edwin. edwin promises to fight off anyone - or any feelings pulling charles down (we can see this in the first episode: "you ever think... what if death did catch us? she'd force us to go to the afterlife and split up" "i will make sure this never happens."). charles feels left behind by the world (seeing as he clings to crystal at first, refering to her as "someone their age who's still alive") and believes edwin to be so much stronger than he's ever been. i'm not going to break down the song verse by verse, but if you read it yourself while subbing out "he" for charles and "she" for edwin you'll see just how sweet (and... strangely very in character?) the song is.

6. work song by hozier

if the previous song made me gasp when i saw the lyrics, this one made me go "NO WAY" out loud when i saw the title. the first one verse is just pure toothrotting sweetness, but the chorus is what i want to draw attention to:

when my time comes around lay me gently in the cold, dark earth no grave can hold my body down i'll crawl home to her

HELLO? charles, who keeps escaping death and afterlife to be able to stay with edwin? charles, as he literally takes his last breath with edwin right there, choosing to be by his side rather than move on? charles, who keeps choosing him despite night nurse's promises and threats? charles, who literally crawled through hell for him?

verse 2, to me, can be interpreted as referring to when charles died. edwin found him at his worst, and he "woke" up with his presence comforting him. he was shivering due to hypothermia and his injuries. edwin didn't ask him about what happened or pushed him, he simply listened. the lines "i didn't care much how long i lived, but I swear, i thought i dreamed her" are pretty self explanatory.

in verse 3 we still see the same attitude of "damn the afterlife, at least we have each other" as charles portrays througout the series. they're free, and heaven and hell are simply words to him.

7. orpheus by vincent lima

i literally have no words for this one. it fits too well. if you want commentary for this one, just... i don't know, rewatch the staircase scene.

8. francesca by hozier

(cracks knuckles) this is the big one. the album francesca is from, unreal unearth, is based on dante alighieri's divine comedy, a fourteenth century poem about a man venturing into hell, purgatory and eventually heaven. the eponymous francesca is one francesca di rimini, a woman who was politically married off to a man older than her, called giovanni malatesta. francesca didn't love him, and eventually fell deep in love with giovanni's younger brother, paolo. the two carried on with the affair for years, before being murdered by giovanni upon his finding out. francesca and paolo are mentioned in canto v of the first book, inferno, as two souls damned in the second circle of hell, lust. their punishment is to be permanently locked in a hurricane, swept away by the winds the moment they manage to get close enough to touch one another.

as opposed to their portrayal in the poem, the song is from the perspective of paolo, explaining that no matter the punishment, he wouldn't change anything about his life because he got to know, and love, francesca.

the first verse brings to mind the scenes in hell, especially on the staircase ("do you think I'd give up? that this might've shook the love from me? or that I was on the brink? how could you think, darlin', i'd scare so easily?" as an echo of charles' "sorry. no version of this where i didn't come get you"). "my life was a storm since i was born, how could i fear any hurricane?" could relate to charles' tumultuous family life, an assurance that nothing he has to deal with while by edwin's side will faze him given the things he's lived through. no, despite everything he's suffered through, charles wouldn't do anything differently - because his (admittedly shitty) life led him to edwin ("i'd tell them, put me back in"). we already know charles would choose him over heaven, willingly sacrificing his own afterlife to stay with a boy he's known for hours, someone kind enough to keep him company as he drew his final breath. all of it - his father's abuse, his schoolmates' bigotry, the pain of his own death, as well as everything he's gone through since - he'd do it all again, for edwin.

"for all that was said of where we'd end up at the end of it" could be taken as an allusion to the fate the boys would meet at "at the end of it", when they're finally caught by death and separated, or as more of a general "if you sin, you will go to hell when you die" (up to you to decide what the sin itself would be - an interpretation that would work with other songs on the playlist is that one such sin would be same sex attraction). then their hearts ceased, they never knew "peace", nor did they want to find it in death. their deaths were too soon, them being ripped away from life, but even though it would break his heart: charles would ask to do it all again.

the outro, i think, beautifully pulls it all together: heaven is not fit to house a love like theirs.

Question: Are Meghan and Harry actively trying to kill The King?

As I was shuffling the cards for this reading, two cards flew out. I was going to draw one card for Meghan, one for Harry, and one for them as a couple, plus the underlying energy, but those two cards told me everything I needed to know.

This is a two card reading

Warning: This reading contains some of the ugliest energy I have ever encountered in all my years of tarot reading. Please prepare yourself before you read it and do not read it if you are feeling at all upset/despondent/shaky/insecure etc. You need to be protected by God/Jesus/the angels/the universe/whomever you call upon to protect you before you read this reading.

Answer: Yes

Card One: The Three of Swords

This is the card that flew out of my deck as I was shuffling. One look and I had my answer.

The Three of Swords is a card of grief, heartbreak, despair. It shows King Agamemnon being killed in his bath by his wife Clytemnestra and her lover.

Clytemnestra brooded over past injuries done to her by the King until she decided to kill him. In this card she represents Harry, with his belief that the BRF has ''victimised' him (e.g. by taking away his military honours).

Her lover, Aegisthus, believed his family has been betrayed by the father of Agamemnon and had been conceived to take revenge on the family. He represents Meghan, with her belief that the BRF has hurt her (eg no one asked me if I was Ok, no one cared about my mental health, they are racist and all her other lies) and her desire for vengeance on them.

The picture shows the death of the rightful King by Clytemnestra and her lover. I am taking this as the death of The King at the hands of Harry and Meghan, in answer to my question. Harry and Meghan want to kill The King. They want to inflict the grief and heartbreak and despair of his death on the BRF.

Card Two: The Eight of Swords in reverse

The energy of this card is of stress. The reverse position has intensified the upright energy (as it sometimes does) instead of reversing the meaning of it. It also adds a delayed time element to the energy.

Harry and Meghan want to use stress to kill The King. They wants him to feel trapped, hemmed in, unable to move or escape, especially mentally. This card can represent someone who is trapped/paralysed by their thoughts and who feels helpless, and that is the energy of the card - what Meghan and Harry want to invoke in The King.

There is a very strong relentless energy to this card - Meghan and Harry will not give up until The King either a) abdicates in their favour (yes, I know that is not possible, but we are dealing with two delusional people here) or b) drops dead from stress - stroke, heart attack, cancer, they do not care.

There is a vicious energy to this card that lashes out repeatedly until the desired object is achieved - an energy I can only describe as stabbing, over and over again, until the person is dead. There is a chant going through my mind of 'stab stab stab kill kill kill' as I type this. The 'stabs' are emotional and stress wounds.

These two cards tell me that Meghan and Harry have planned to kill The King and they will not stop until it is accomplished - and then they will turn their attention to Prince William.

This is truly ugly energy - vicious, self-centred, and laser focused on their desires with no thought of anyone else.

Because it is so ugly I asked for a third card as confirmation, just to make sure I am on the right track about this, as it is a horrible thing to say about anyone.

Confirmation Card: King of Cups in reverse

The King of Cups is the card for Scorpio, and as such it represents King Charles, who is a sun sign Scorpio. In the reverse, it shows King Charles in decline, weakened, not strong and happy (that would be the card upright). The card represents King Charles in his role as a person, father/husband/uncle etc, and not in his role as King. To have it in reverse as a confirmation card is a definite yes. Harry and Meghan want The King to die and they are actively trying to bring this about.

Just in case there is any doubt, the card after this was The Seven of Swords.

The Seven of Swords - deceit, trickery, lies, scheming - with the pictures showing Orestes creeping into the city/palace to kill his mother for murdering his father. The card showing a son in the act of murdering a parent and the meaning of the card - thief, lies, deceit, scheming - confirm the message above and add to it - Harry and Meghan are trying to kill The King so they can steal what is his for themselves.

Notice that all the suit cards I am pulling are Swords - the suit of thoughts, plans, and strategies. Another confirmation. There is no emotion involved here (that would be Cups) - just a cold and merciless desire to remove someone who stands in the way of their plans.

This is revolting energy and I am going to stop now.

A note of hope - just because Harry and Meghan are actively trying to do this, there is no guarantee that they will succeed, especially if we pray for The King and for Prince William and his family and/or we send them protective energy. St Michael the Archangel is a good angel to ask to protect them if anyone is so inclined.

how to make readers think you're an expert on 19th century france

or quick and dirty tricks for writing canon era, because sometimes you just need a convincing historical backdrop for your angsty one shot.

Be specific about your time period! It may seem counterintuitive, but picking a specific year for your fic to take place in actually makes the research part easier. Even if the year isn't relevant at all to the plot and won't be mentioned. Let's say I need to add a political debate to my fic for plot purposes, but I've got no clue what to make them argue about. I'll pick 1828 as my year. I can just pull up the Wikipedia page for "1828 in France" and under "Events" it tells me that there was a new prime minister that year. Wikipedia says he was a more moderate royalist that replaced an ultra-royalist...a perfect topic for debate!

In fact, want to sound really knowledgeable? Sure, you could always have your characters complain about the king, but consider having them talk about the prime minister instead. (eg. Down with Polignac!) The ministers and their governments were powerful but not usually long-lasting or especially popular during this time period. Presumably, Enjolras hated all of them.

...and if you do mention the king, be specific! Louis XVIII, Charles X, or Louis-Philippe? Again, this is easily done by simply knowing what year it is.

Just talking about "The Cause" or "Revolution" (generic) makes it sound like you don't quite know exactly what you're talking about. Luckily, even if that's true, there's an easy fix. Use "the Republic" instead. (That's what "The Cause" is, and what the "Revolution" is for.) Also, unless they're actively revolutioning, it's generally better to refer to Les Amis as "republicans" instead of "revolutionaries," as republicanism is their actual political ideology.

The July Revolution of 1830 is a thing that happened. This is a useful event to reference. Use it to your advantage.

Just namedrop! Look up some operas or books that came out that year. Find some French Romantic authors Prouvaire could be reading. I'll admit it, I'm easily impressed when a fic references Lamartine or Hernani or whatever.

Don't use the word "homosexual." Didn't exist yet. Also, sodomy was decriminalized during the French Revolution...it's a whole complicated thing, but it is not illegal in our time period.

Make them do activities other than writing pamphlets? Writing pamphlets is a time-honored staple of canon era fic. Still, that doesn’t mean we can’t occasionally branch out. Some suggestions: recruitment, mutual aid, posting bail, gathering arms and ammunition, also Les Amis are outwardly a society for “the education of children”!

This is obviously not an exhaustive guide to writing canon era. You might notice that much of this advice boils down to “be more specific,” which is really the trick to seeming knowledgeable. The more specific you can be, the better it’s going to sound. If you do want to do more in-depth research, check out my resource collection!

Re: Charles Royal family order. Via the royal rota, BP has revealed that the order will be handed out almost immediately to all the royal ladies depending on how fast each one can be made. Apparently it takes awhile to make each one. 

The way this was reported, you got the distinct impression that only one was being made at a time which is ridiculous of it's to be handed to all royal ladies at once or within a short period of time.

The only thing I love about this is that KC3 has thrown out EIIR's policy of making the married in ladies earn their orders. With the exception of Diana who got her order within months of her wedding, all the other royal ladies had to wait for years eg Camilla got hers 2yrs ( 2007) after her wedding, Sophie got hers after 5yrs ( 2004) while Kate got hers after 7yrs ( 2017), and Fergie never got one.

I also hope that Sophie wearing the Lotus tiara was a sign that the jewels in the vault will be shared out more amongst the ladies though I'm aware of the symbolism of wearing the Lotus tiara to a Japan state dinner ( Japan = Lotus)  - I have a theory that the years long preparation for the state dinner included a thought that no 2 lady - Kate, would wear the Lotus tiara at that dinner, but when the dinner came round, Kate was out, and Sophie became the no 2 lady and a decision was made to give her the tiara to wear to continue the original plans to honour Japan.

Charles hasn’t thrown out Elizabeth’s policy re the family orders. He’s doing the same thing that she did, which is everyone who had the George VI family order automatically received the Elizabeth II family order and now everyone who has the Elizabeth II family order is automatically getting the Charles III family order as they become available (rather than all at once).

The unknown is if Charles will make newly married-in royal ladies work for their award for some time as The Queen did. I suspect The Queen started making the ladies work for their awards after the Waleses’ marriage imploded and it became clear that Diana probably wasn’t going to be in/of service to the monarch in perpetuity as The Queen may have preferred her recipients to do.

And unfortunately, we won’t actually know if Charles is following The Queen’s policy until there’s a new married-in — likely to be George’s wife in about 20 years or so, and given The King’s age, I’m not sure Charles will be King long enough to see that happen. It’ll be William who determines if The Queen’s policy of working is appropriate or too “us and them.”

(FWIW, I like the “work for it” approach. It ensures that only those truly dedicated to service to the monarchy/monarch get it. It strengthens the meaning of the honor and protects it from going towards someone who’s only interested in herself.)

Spread among 13 occupied and historic royal residences in the United Kingdom, the collection is owned by King Charles III and overseen by the Royal Collection Trust. The British monarch owns some of the collection in right of the Crown and some as a private individual. It is made up of over one million objects, including 7,000 paintings, over 150,000 works on paper, this including 30,000 watercolours and drawings, and about 450,000 photographs, as well as around 700,000 works of art, including tapestries, furniture, ceramics, textiles, carriages, weapons, armour, jewellery, clocks, musical instruments, tableware, plants, manuscripts, books, and sculptures.

Some of the buildings which house the collection, such as Hampton Court Palace, are open to the public and not lived in by the Royal Family, whilst others, such as Windsor Castle, Kensington Palace and the most remarkable of them, Buckingham Palace are both residences and open to the public.

About 3,000 objects are on loan to museums throughout the world, and many others are lent on a temporary basis to exhibitions.

Do any of the gang members find out that they have any disorders/mental illnesses/etc. once they get timewarped and if so what are their reactions? Ranging from “oh, I though that was normal” to “NUH UH!”

timewarp was founded on the gang realising they have ptsd and kieran's autism being more obvious and worse in timewarp. but in detail

kieran is autistic

sean might have adhd but he doesn't actually have hyperactivity as a symptom. plot twist he just has that erratic trauma avoiding energy. it is a lot more masking severe c-ptsd and imposter syndrome that is his behind his exaggerated happy personality. see reform school lore

arthur is one of the few diagnosed he definitely had an acquired brain injury which while a physical injury manifests with mostly neurological symptoms. sometimes he gets confused or irritated for seemingly no reason, and this has been a thing since long before timewarp. the gang move on from joking about how dumb he is he does have an intellectual disability as part of his ABI. his response was very "oh I thought that was normal" and "bah i ain't need help".

the gang have subconsciously been aware of this long before they had the medical knowledge to understand it and are all pretty used to quickly explaining things or reminding arthur of stuff he forgets. lowkey consider this canon ever notice how the gang talk to arthur sometimes not entirely condescending but explaining things on his level eg sean being the one to point out the grays will definitely recognise him and he should hide in the wagon, grimshaw almost playfully reminding a grown man to wash because he straight up forgets, gentle reminders of what they're doing through heists even beyond game mechanics a lot of heist cut scenes are super repetitive like charles very much breaking down we're blowing a hole in the bank. take the spool and connect it to the detonator. the detonator is over there. it just feels like they know arthur isn't always entirely there and are v supportive. arthur is so curious and asks so many questions and the gang just roll with it and answer most of the time it feels so kind and positive.

arthur also definitely has adhd. hyper-fixates on new interesting thing for a month and then completely forgets everything he ever learned about it

almost the entire gang acknowledge they have ptsd/c-ptsd and varying levels of trauma as a response their lives/childhoods/relationships with parents/being a VDL. acknowledging it doesn't mean they do anything to move towards recovery because they are still mostly men raised with 19th century values who hang shit on each other for flinching at loud noises or being 'is someone shooting at us' alert

lenny and isaac as the most aware begging their friends/family to take their mental health seriously and are constantly met with 'lmao no' 'that's?? normal?? what do you mean' and 'NUH'. lenny cries 'please this is re-traumatising you are actively upsetting yourselves' while the gang go 'boo grow a pair' despite experiencing varying levels of anxiety attack in response to triggers.

john will only bring up 'hey stop making wolf jokes about me it is Actually a Trigger' to stop the gang bullying him. very genuine trigger and phobia of wolves and wolf-like dogs but still doesn't take it seriously himself

bill has recognized anger management issues and is in therapy. alcoholism is a definite concern. he's also just got a lot of internalised homophobia and complex feelings about the gang and his own childhood to unpack and learn how to articulate and express his feelings in a healthier way. only one of the adult gang who is actively trying to improve his mental health through therapy go king

the d in dsm-5 stands for dutch and he is thriving in in-patient care. not even the doctors know entirely what to diagnose him because he seems to have symptoms of everything but is responding best to medications traditionally used to support bi-polar

i just wanna reiterate the show was very clear that the cat king doesn't Actually care about edwin

under a readmore because i realize i'm being silly about this

the cat king understands that keeping edwin in town is dangerous for him and could get him sent to hell, but refuses to remove the bracelet until 1. he successfully pressures a minor into sex or 2. edwin completes a task that requires a great deal of time in an unsafe location

and when edwin IS sent to hell, the cat king does not risk anything trying to help him get back out. pointedly, he says he will wait.

he sends cats to spy on edwin, but the cats are not there for protection. notably the cat king never appears when they could actually use him (eg the devlin house, esther's house in the finale), despite the cats watching

the one time he is of assistance, it also conveniently throws a romantic rival out of the running when he reveals monty is tricking them. he is aware of the risks here with esther and the mushrooms, but he doesn't follow to help out. in fact, he wanted edwin to stay and entertain him, despite knowing edwin's dearest friends were at risk. edit: i can see it as him wanting to keep edwin away from the danger, if you want it to be that

yes he told the girls esther's backstory, but they had to seek him out for it. he tells them upfront he'll allow edwin to be tortured if it means he, the cat king, is safe. by all means, let me know if i'm missing some genius machinations by him off the top of my head, but i don't believe so.

is he lonely? sure. does he like edwin? sure. but he doesn't CARE about edwin, he's not looking out for edwin's wellbeing at any point. as soon as edwin became more inconvenient than fascinating, the cat king would certainly move on

his purpose in the narrative is, in part, to provide a foil to charles as a romantic interest. where the cat king fails, charles comes through. where the cat king is selfish, charles is selfless. where the cat king is romantically available, charles isn't.

he also serves as a metaphor for edwin's distraction about his own desires and sexuality. which, like the cat king, was unsettling and only somewhat wanted, and got in the way of solving cases, but was also engaging and ultimately harmless.

my point being he was never intended as a valid love interest, nor would he be a good one.

Why do you think the BRF also sends their number 3 or 4 for foreign royal occasions? I would get it if W&K were of a different generation but they never seem to travel compared to the other royal household number 1’s.

Because the BRF’s protocols under Queen Elizabeth, they used order of precedence rather than order of succession to determine who attended ceremonial events for foreign royalty. That meant children of the monarch ranked higher than grandchildren of the monarch, in which case it was far more appropriate and respectful for the UK to send Edward and Sophie to represent The Queen (her son) rather than William and Kate (her grandson).

For a super long time, Charles was the one who attended foreign royal occasions on The Queen’s behalf. He attended the events for either the sitting monarch or the direct heir/crown prince or princess. Edward and Sophie mostly attended the events for foreign royal families when they concerned everyone else - eg a non-direct heir. According to the BRF’s protocols, it wouldn’t have been appropriate for a higher-ranking foreign royal to attend a ceremony for a lower-ranking royal.

King Charles has mainly kept the QE2 protocols in tact so far but he’s also really handicapped by Harry and Meghan having quit the monarchy because they were too impatient to wait. Under the QE2 protocols of precedence that we know, William was meant to attend the ceremonies for sitting monarchs and direct heirs while Harry was meant to attend the ceremonies for the others.

But obviously Harry quit and Charles can’t send William to attend ceremonies for the spares. All Charles has is Anne and Edward, until George and Charlotte become working royals. So Anne or Edward it is.

Celta, great tarot idea: Who asked the Army to fabricate all the medals Harry never earned and ignore all the exams Harry failed at Sandhurst and lie that Harry was a pilot when he actually was a gunner? Was it Charles who asked the Army to do this or Queen Elizabeth II? The 8 part military tea I just sent you from "T n T UK" on YT shows how angry current/former servicemen and women are at Harry's preferential treatment. I don't blame them. It's stolen valor, IMO.

The medals that Harry wears are real medals, given out to military personnel for various reasons. Some of the ones Harry wears were given out to every member of the royal family just for being a member of the royal family, so they are worth no more or less than anything else that he gets by reason of his birth. Others, like his one for serving in Afghanistan, were given to every person who served and met the criteria for the medal, so for me the question is 'Did what Harry do count as serving?' and depending on the answer, he either deserves the medal or not.

According to wikipedia, Harry has the following medals:

Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal - wikipedia says this was awarded to active personnel in the British Armed Forces and Emergency Personnel who had completed 5 years of qualifying service, but it also went to members of the Royal Family just because they were members of the Royal Family. For example, Prince Andrew, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Philip were all awarded this medal, and none of them were on active service in the Armed Forces at the time the medal was awarded.

Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal - awarded for being a member of the BRF (see above)

Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal - awarded for being a member of the BRF (see above)

King Charles III Coronation Medal - awarded for being a member of the BRF (this one is listed in wikipedia but there was some debate over whether it was issued to Harry or not)

Operational Service Medal for Afghanistan - The one medal that Harry has that was awarded for his military service. Per wikipedia it was awarded by the Ministry of Defence 'for service by British Armed Forces personnel in support of the post-2001 Afghan War'. As I said above, it is up to the individual person to decide if Harry deserved this medal or not, which (once again) he probably got more because of being a member of the BRF than because of his actual service.

I think the lying about Harry being a gunner and not an actual pilot was part of the Her Harry PR at the time. It was cleverly done - the actual PR releases never said that Harry was a pilot, they simply left it to be inferred from what they did say (eg Harry is going for training in X country and no mention of whether he passed the training or not, so the assumption was that he passed, people ran with that and the palace did not correct them).

Harry passing through Sandhurst was definitely because he was the grandson of the monarch at the time. There are articles some where that talk about how the officers in training at Sandhurst did an IQ test? aptitude test? I think the average score that people got was around 5, Prince William scored a 7 and Harry came in at 3 or 4. So the people at Sandhurst knew he wasn't officer material.

I can understand the veterans of the Afghanistan Wars being angry that Harry was awarded that medal, as that is specifically for people who served in those wars, and it depends on whether you call what Harry did 'serving' or not.

I can ask who put pressure on Sandhurst to accept and pass Harry through officer training and who assisted with his promotion in the military, but I don't know if the actual person matters. It is the same as nepo-babies in any other industry - Harry got where he was through his connections, not through any ability or effort on his own part. Let me know if you want me to ask specifically who was involved and I can take a look at it.
