#Kindergarten Teacher Cody

Here’s the second fill for my Alternative Professions @codywanbingo card! It’s a sequel to my first fill, so it’s a Modern AU with Kindergarten Teacher Cody but this time focusing on Obi-Wan’s alternative profession.
Or, Cody takes his class on a field trip.
Pairing: Obi-Wan Kenobi/Commander Cody Prompt: Biologist Words: ~800 Rating: T (for some innuendo)
Fic and card under the cut!
“I’m not sure where to take my class on our field day,” Cody admitted, poking at his dinner, “I have a few ideas but I need to decide soon.”
“Well,” Obi-Wan said, clearing his throat, “if you bring them to the aquarium I’ll try to be available as a guide.”
Cody shot him a look. “I thought you said you were a biologist?”
“Mm,” Obi-Wan hummed, the corners of his mouth curling upward, “I am. A marine biologist working at the local aquarium.” Cody blinked at him, and Obi-Wan continued, shrugging with one shoulder, “Granted, I usually do more work with high school students but I have done guided tours for grade school students, too. Kindergarteners will be a new challenge, though.”
Cody stared at him, stunned. “You work at the aquarium.”
“Mhm.”
He watched a smile spread across Cody’s face and knew fairly certain where his boyfriend (he still wasn’t quite used to thinking of him in this way, things were still so new) was going to take his class.
“Just give them the goriest details and they’ll all love you forever,” Cody said, grinning at him. “You’d be surprised at how bloodthirsty five year olds are. And you,” he added, leaning over to kiss Obi-Wan, ”are a lifesaver.”
“Are you still hungry?” Obi-Wan asked when Cody pulled back slowly, heat stirring low in his gut.
Cody glanced down at his mostly empty plate. “I think I’m ready for dessert,” he replied, a sudden rasp to his voice, moving around the table and capturing Obi-Wan’s lips in another kiss.
#
Obi-Wan watched the children filter into the aquarium in pairs, pointing excitedly at some of the exhibits. A warm wave of fondness spread through him as Cody called his group to gather round. He glanced at his reflection in the glass of one of the fish tanks, ran his hand through his hair once, and stepped out to meet them, ignoring the quiet laughter of his colleagues.
Luke and Leia spotted him immediately, faces lighting up, ready to rush his way. He shook his head quickly. The twins deflated slightly but stayed put. Cody must have noticed their fidgeting because he turned around, eyes and smile so warm when he spotted Obi-Wan.
“Welcome to the local aquarium!” Obi-Wan said, tearing his gaze away from Cody and letting it sweep over the cluster of children instead. “My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi and I am your guide today. Now, have any of you kids ever been here before?”
There were calls of yes—the twins among the loudest—but also quite a few who shook their heads shyly.
“Those of you that have been here before, can you tell me your favorite animals here?”
He wasn’t especially surprised that sharks seemed to be the predominant answer but there were others as well, such as seals and otters and one kid that said lobsters.
He nodded along, “Those are all great choices! And what do you think, will we find favorite sea creatures for those of you that haven’t been here before?” Another chorus of yes calls met him. “Yeah, I think so, too. You know why?” They shook their heads, rapt with attention. He lowered his voice to a loud, conspiratorial whisper, “Because sea creatures are freaking cool, that’s why. But! Before we go, we have two big rules here, and they’re really important: Don’t Tap the Glass and Don’t Throw Things in the Enclosures. Now, are we ready?”
Obi-Wan met Cody’s gaze over the heads of the class. He set off as soon as Cody nodded his approval, motioning for the group to follow him to their first stop.
#
“Well, Mr. Fett,” Obi-Wan said quietly, sidling up to him after the end of the tour, “did you see your favorite marine animal, too?” He was pretty sure he’d won a few new admirers for his beloved cephalopods among the children.
Cody shook his head in mock disappointment, “No, I didn't see a single flying fish. But maybe you can make it up to me later on,” he added, a twinkle in his eyes.
“Mm, I’m sure I can manage that.” Obi-Wan murmured, looking over at where the second teacher and the young students stood waiting for Cody to join them. He leaned forward, brushing a kiss to the corner of his mouth, “Seven o’clock at mine, darling.”
Cody turned his head quickly for another kiss and said, voice low, “Yes, I’ll see you tonight,” before making his way over to his class. And Obi-Wan stood rooted in place, watching him corral his class onto the bus with a soft smile on his face. He knew he was in for a bit of teasing from his colleagues but he really didn’t care.
He simply looked forward to spending his evening with Cody.

“Don’t teachers leave school when it ends?” Emily asked, following the secretary through the elementary school hallways.
The secretary glanced behind her to make sure Spencer was still following, “Contract hours end at four in the afternoon, which is about twenty minutes after the last bell,” she responded. “Some teachers are in charge of after-school clubs or they’ll stay to grade or plan for the next day, but the rest head home at the end of the day,” she continued.
Emily nodded in understanding, “And when does Ms. Y/L/N usually leave for the day?”
For a moment, the secretary’s resigned expression faltered to one of concern, “Once all of her students leave for the day.”
“Is that usually at a different time every day?” Spencer asked, shoving his hands in his pockets as they turned another corner, the walls were coated in colorful flowers with the names of what he could only assume were the kindergarteners scrawled on them.
There was nothing but a sigh from the secretary as she considered her answers, “That might just be a better question for you to ask her.” She continued leading the way until she stopped in front of a door that was being held open by a doorstop, knocking on the door, she peeked her head in, “Y/N?”
From where he was standing, Spencer could see your head peek out from beneath a desk, but once you recognized that you had unexpected guests, you stood up straight, “Oh, hi,” you greeted, hastily walking around the clusters of tables as you made your way to the door.
“Y/N Y/L/N?” Emily asked, pulling her credentials out when you confirmed your name, Spencer followed suit, “We’re Agent Prentiss and Dr. Reid with the FBI’s behavioral analysis unit, do you have the time to answer a few questions about a case we’re working on?”
The bright smile that had initially been on your face quickly fell as you eyed the FBI credentials in front of you, “Oh, Cody,” you murmured. Stepping to the side, you gave the two federal agents space to enter your classroom.
Prentiss thanked the secretary before stepping into your space, “Oh, it’s colorful in here,” she said.
“It’s a kindergarten classroom,” Spencer responded quickly, “Studies show that there’s a link between bright colors and brain development, so these colors are probably conducive to a productive learning environment.”
He went over to the side of your classroom, watching you as you nervously wrapped your arms around yourself, “Thank you?” You said quizzically, not sure if you should take what he was saying as a compliment, “You are here about Cody, right? Cody Jenkins?”
Spencer nodded, “We are, you knew immediately, though.”
You moved your hand to cover your heart as if it was racing, “I was worried when he wasn’t here yesterday, but I knew when I didn’t see him today that something was wrong.” Your eyes flickered between Emily and himself, waiting for either one of them to say something, “Oh my god, is he okay?”
“Why were you so worried when Cody didn’t come to school for two days?” Emily asked, tilting her head to the side, raven black hair catching in the fluorescent school lighting.
Sitting down at your desk, you sighed, “Cody loves school. He’d never miss a day unless it was absolutely necessary – I’m the one who brought the first concern to the administration that there might be problems at home, but…”
Raising her dark eyebrows in curiosity, Emily shared a look with Spencer, “But what?”
Watching you, Spencer noticed the way you nervously fiddled with a beaded bracelet on your wrist, although he couldn’t quite make out what the lettered beads spelled, he was able to deduce that the bracelet was important to you. “What’s on your bracelet?” He asked, leaning forward and placing his elbows on his knees, he craned his head to try and read it on his own.
“Oh,” you said, looking down at the bracelet as if you needed reassurance that it was still there, “A student made it for me a long time ago. When I was still a student teacher,” you looked at the beaded creation fondly, “The mascot was the dolphins, so it just says ‘dolphin’. Spelled with an F, of course, because she was four.”
Once he knew what the bracelet said, he was able to make out the words, even noting the dolphin charm at the end of the word, “You care a lot about your students,” he said, stating the obvious, but the words seemed to put you at ease. “What do you know about Cody’s home life?”
Your eyes widened as you looked back up at Spencer and he tried to make himself seem as friendly as possible. “I know his parents have had some trouble – his dad has a bad history, as I’m sure you know, but his mom is a good person,” you said, reaching your hand up and scratching the back of your neck.
“But she never left Cody’s father,” Emily said questioningly, seeking confirmation more than anything else.
Crossing your arms in front of your stomach, you shrugged, “I’ve never been in that situation before, I don’t get to speak on the difficulty of leaving, but I can tell you that she’s a good person – she loves her son.”
“You care a lot about your students,” Spencer noted aloud, he looked around at the clusters of tables – each table was stocked with the same supplies. You even had a snack station at the back of your classroom.
Quickly, you nodded, “I don’t believe in kids getting a lesser education just because they don’t have the money or the support system at home. I do what I can,” you admitted. “Do you… do you think Cody’s dad did something to him?”
Sadly, Emily affirmed your question, “He’s a person of interest in the case.”
Pressing your lips in a thin, white line, you slouched back into your office chair, “Sometimes I wonder if there’s more to do. The state requires me to teach these kids about stranger danger, but last year a majority of AMBER Alerts that went out were for family abduction.”
“I’m sorry that you know that, Ms. Y/L/N,” Spencer told you.
You brushed off his apology, “For eight hours a day, five days a week, it’s my job to keep these kids safe – even if that means knowing things that I don’t like.”
Both Spencer and Emily accepted this, and they continued to ask you a few questions about what you knew about Cody. From your point of view, he was just a kid trapped in a bad situation, and he couldn’t help but wonder if it ever hurt you to send him home at the end of the day.
As the two of them left the elementary school, he shook his head in disbelief, “She made three reports on the father, and none of them were taken seriously by the school.”
“I know, Reid,” Emily commiserated, “So, the teacher?”
Her question came when the two of them piled into the SUV, giving her a bewildered look, Spencer furrowed his brows, “What about her?”
Emily scoffed, “’You care so much about your students,’” She said in a mocking voice, taking one hand off the wheel and placing it on her chest, “’Oh, I’m so sorry that you have to know that information’. What was that about the colors in her classroom?”
Rolling his eyes, Spencer sat back in the passenger seat, “Okay, first of all, I do not sound like that. Second of all, I was building rapport – you should try it sometime.”
She chuckled from the driver’s seat, tossing a piece of paper in his general direction before placing her hands near the bottom of the steering wheel, “Here, this is for you.”
“What is it?” He asked as he took the paper and unfolded it.
Humming, Emily didn’t even look as she responded, “I wrote down her room number for you, so you can go ask her out once this case is over.”
Tumblr media
Your door was closed when he got there and he wasn’t quite sure if he should knock or just give up. It wasn’t a far drive to get to your school from Quantico, and if he could ever work up the courage to make the drive again, he could always try then.
Lifting his hand to knock, he hesitated again, opening his palm and letting his hand drop to his side. “This is ridiculous,” he mumbled to himself, taking the sticky note that Emily had ‘gifted’ him and triple-checking the room number as if his memory and your name on the door weren’t enough confirmation.
Giving up, he turned around, stuffing the paper in his pocket as he did so, and almost running into you in the process, “Oh!” You said, stumbling back and taking a moment to reorient yourself before meeting his eyes. “Oh,” you repeated, softer this time, “Dr. Reid, it’s nice to see you again.”
“Spencer,” he corrected and immediately cringed. “I mean, I’m not here in any professional capacity, so… you can just call me Spencer.”
Flashing him a bright smile, you grinned in response, “It’s nice to see you again, Spencer.” You proceeded to tell him he could call you by your first name before inviting him into your classroom.
Looking around the room, the colors of the space once again made him feel welcome, “You’re here late,” he observed, looking up at the clock and noticing that it had passed your contract hours while he stood outside your door.
You nodded, “It’s the first of the month tomorrow, so I need to switch over my calendars and everything.” You went to pick up a dry-erase marker from the whiteboard, “Um, have you… did you find Cody?”
“Yes,” he responded immediately, remembering the excuse he had given the team when he told them he was going back to visit you. Morgan and Emily weren’t likely to let him forget. “He’s safe, and it looks like he’ll be able to stay with his mom,” he informed you, relishing the way his words put you at ease.
Any remaining stiffness in your stature faded, and the weight of your missing student was officially off of your shoulders. “Thank you – and thank you for coming back to let me know,” you said, putting your hands behind your back, the two of you seemingly at an impasse.
Taking a deep breath Spencer braced himself, “I actually didn’t come back for that. No, I mean, I did. I wanted to let you know that Cody was safe because you were worried and he’s a kid so obviously that was something that I thought you deserved to know since-“
“Spencer?” You said quizzically, smiling at him as he rambled on about your previously missing student, “What else was there?”
His eyes widened as you smiled at him, “Would you want to go out? With me?”
Your smile dropped from your face, and he began to emotionally prepare himself to lay face down on his couch tonight, but what you said next surprised him, “Yeah, I’d like that.”

"Does she know where we're sitting?" Eddie asks as they shuffle down the rows of plastic seats, his bulky digital camera hanging around his neck by the strap.
(Eddie wanted to bring their tour photographer, Cody, but Steve had to gently remind him that the school already had one hired. Eddie only sulked for an hour.)
Steve levels him a look. "If she doesn't see us, then she'll spot one of these goons and follow the line." He points over his shoulder to their accompanying party.
Wayne is directly behind him, followed by Robin and Chrissy. Jeff, Gareth, Freak, and the kids shuffle in behind them. As much as Eddie doesn’t like flaunting his celebrity status around, he had to call ahead the week before to request an entire row to be reserved just to fit all of them.
His baby is graduating kindergarten, he'll be damned if he doesn't pull out all the stops. They’re even having a little graduation party for her at the house afterwards—a backyard BBQ with everyone and the rest of the tour crew and family who couldn't make it to the ceremony.
Not long after everyone is seated, Pomp and Circumstance crackles out of the loudspeakers and the kids start to walk down the aisle in pairs. It's definitely not perfect, some kids take too-eager steps and some stop to hug their parents, but the teachers do their best to guide them.
Steve starts recording with his phone the second they spot Emma, the digital chime of Eddie's camera shutter clicking away beside him. Her curls are barely tamed in the side pony she asked Eddie to put it in, but it matches the whole 'rocker' vibe she's got going on.
Amongst the sea of summer dresses and pressed toddler slacks, their little girl is wearing her black denim battle vest over a light purple Hannah Montana shirt Steve had gotten at a yard sale, with a pale blue frilly tutu and a pair of silver glitter leggings and her black boots.
She looks nervous, though. Tense. Her shoulders are drawn up and her hands are clasped in front of her. Brown eyes dart this way and that around the room trying to spot a familiar face in the crowd and it breaks Steve's heart to watch his kid be so anxious. Her teacher said she did great at practice yesterday, but that was without the fifty pairs of eyes on her.
Mike is sitting on the end and she finds him easily, her eyes lighting up in recognition, but there's still a worried crease between her eyebrows that doesn't smooth out until she's locking eyes with her dads. She gives them a tiny wave as she walks by.
They both give her encouraging thumbs up and Eddie wishes he could just snatch her up and run out of the building with her.
They eventually get all the kids filed in and the principal stands behind the podium on the stage to welcome everyone. She goes through the awards first (Emma receives one for reading above her grade level, something that Eddie is very proud of) before the kids line back up to receive their little diplomas.
Halfway through the list, Eddie suddenly elbows Steve. "Shit, I didn't hear her name, did we miss her?"
His phone is still recording. "Dude, her last name is M, we're still in the J's."
"Oh, right."
Emma's class is only about 50 or so kids so it doesn't really take that long to get to her name, but Steve and Eddie are still vibrating with the anticipation.
"Emma Munson."
Immediately, their entire entourage is up on their feet and cheering and yelling. It's way too loud for the cafeteria setting they're in, and it echos, and you can definitely tell which of them are in the famous metal band.
Emma's little cheeks turn the same color as her glasses but her grin is big and wide as she holds her certificate in front of her for the picture. Both Steve and Eddie are rapid fire pressing the shutter buttons on their cameras.
Once she's off the stage, the principal clears her throat. "A reminder to please hold all applause until the end of the ceremony, thank you." She gives them a not-so-subtle glare over the rims of her own glasses.
Sheepishly, their group sits back down and is quiet once more.
"We're gonna be worse during her eighth grade graduation, right?" Steve whispers to Eddie.
"Oh, absolutely. She'll want to kill us afterwards."

my darling<3<3 i have very much enjoyed everything you've told me about the coffee/pastry shop au so feel free to feed me more (pun intended) but i am also very intrigued by this ballerina au 👀👀
hi babe!!! sorry this took so long, but i got my ass in gear and made a snippet.
(psst, @brokenphoenix99 @violentcheese @forloveofcodywan @halfwaytoknowhere this one is for y'all too)
here, obi-wan is a professional ballerina and cody is an ex-marine who decided to be a sports medicine physical therapist at a clinic owned by kix. waxer is a kindergarten teacher, which isn't important to the plot but i thought you'd like that info <3
this would be another long-ish fic where obi-wan starts out as cody's patient and ends up pursuing him. cody is very confused because he's trying to stay professional, but obi-wan is so handsome and nice and funny and goddammit he's making cody fall in love with him, ethics be damned.
hilarity and shenanigans ensue.
here's a snippet for their first meeting (obi-wan gets to be a little slutty, as a treat)
Cody is a professional, you see.
He’s never had an issue separating work from his personal life, which really hasn’t been difficult, seeing as most of his patients have been teenaged athletes or huge burly football players that speak a grand total of five words to Cody and prefer to communicate through grunts and pointing at where it hurts.
And then there’s Obi-Wan.
When Cody heard he was being referred to a new client, a professional ballerina, Cody expected something like a tiny, rail-thin person to walk through his door with shitty ankles and a shittier attitude. Not that Cody has anything against ballerinas, specifically, but his only experience has been movies and TV shows and sue him for never meeting one in person.
And then…
There’s Obi-Wan.
Cody is not expecting the man that does walk through the door of the clinic with bright blue eyes, a kind smile, and soft auburn hair that falls just above his shoulders. Where Cody expected all ballerinas to be sharp edges, this man just looks so… soft.
And then he speaks.
“Hi, my name is Obi-Wan. I’m here to see…” Obi-Wan trails off and checks his phone, “Dr. Cody Fett?”
Cody springs into action from where he was more or less creepily lurking in the clinic, watching from a spot that gives him a view of the front desk. It’s his favorite spot to throw things at Jesse, their receptionist, when he’s not looking.
Cody strides into the lobby, attempting to act casual and if he wasn’t just gawking over the man that walked in. The man’s (Obi-Wan, Cody reminds himself) eyes dart to him and Cody tries to keep a straight face, but it feels like he’s burning under the gaze for some reason.
“Hi, that’s me,” Cody curves around the desk and stands a few feet in front of Obi-Wan, extending a hand.
Obi-Wan offers him another smile; a flash of white teeth and a small dimple on his chin. Cody watches his eyes assess Cody and dip down his body, but Cody brushes it off. It’s not the first time a patient has checked him out, though usually they’re more subtle.
He quickly sets the water bottle he’s carrying (it’s covered in stickers, and Cody registers a pride flag sticker, but decides to shove that information away) onto the desk to shake Cody’s hand.
“Pleasure to meet you. Thank you for getting me into your schedule so quickly. I have a recital coming up in a few weeks and I really need to get this bum knee figured out,” Obi-Wan says, taking his hand away and gesturing to his right knee, which is covered in a brace that fits underneath the hem of his biker shorts.
Cody returns his hand to his side, sliding it into the pocket of his black scrub joggers and politely laughs. He has the urge to ask where Obi-Wan’s (wonderfully smooth) accent is from, but that’s got nothing to do with his care and Cody internally chastises himself.
Focus.
“It’s no problem. Why don’t you go ahead and come back with me and we can figure out what’s going on? You can put your stuff on that table at the back” Cody says, gesturing to some cubbies they got for free when Waxer emptied out his old classroom.
Obi-Wan shoots him a grateful smile and begins walking into the clinic just ahead of Cody. After a step, though, Obi-Wan drops his phone, which would be fine, except he abruptly bends at the waist to pick it up. His back arches probably a little more than necessary, and the biker shorts don’t leave a lot of his body to the imagination.
Cody, thanking every possible deity that he still has quick reflexes from his Marine days, stops and flies a hand out to grip the desk to prevent himself from tripping and promptly running his pelvis into what is, unfortunately, a fantastic ass.
Obi-Wan grabs his phone and stands back up fluidly, turning over his shoulder to shoot Cody a smile that, well… It's been a while since Cody’s gotten around, but he could swear it’s flirtatious.
“Sorry. Can’t bend at the knees,” Obi-Wan explains, but he doesn’t sound sorry at all.
In fact, he quickly drags his eyes down Cody’s body and Cody could swear he bites his lip before turning on his heel and walking to the cubbies.
Cody doesn’t respond and he feels his face has heated up, so he turns to Jesse to make sure that all of that actually just happened. Jesse turns from where he was watching Obi-Wan and looks to Cody with slightly raised brows before he gets a look at Cody’s blush and bites his lip to hide a smile.
“Did you se-” Cody begins to whisper.
“I saw it,” Jesse nods and snickers.
Cody blinks dumbly at Jesse, his systems still a little offline as he tries to process that a patient (a beautiful one, but that’s entirely besides the point) just openly flirted with him and tried to get him to look at his ass (it worked, but that’s entirely besides the point).
Jesse looks over at Obi-Wan again and breaks out into an amused grin, his hand coming up to rub at his mouth. He turns to look at Cody again and Cody is a little scared of what he just saw.
Jesse jerks his head over to Obi-Wan and Cody gulps before looking over there. Obi-Wan is working on re-tying his shoes, which is innocent enough, but…
That motherfucker is bending at the knee.

For a second round of my crack his: What about Hayley x Graham?
I don't have much info for them outside the fact that both are bookworms, love to teach others things they know, and love nature (Boulder and Hayley platonic shared time in the garden?)
This could also set a good character arc for Kade who not only has to deal with a broken heart but also sees his little brother be with his ex... I don't think that he would hate Graham or Star drama, just that Kade will start to realize that maybe his ego is too big.
Also, love that a shy nerd (Graham) gets loved by a confident nerd (Hayley)!
hi
Honestly, when I first saw the show and realized Hayley was a sweet kindergarten teacher, I did have a moment where I was confused why she’s with Kade and not Graham. Like, this relationship makes sense!
I do think Kade and Hayley would have to be broken up for a while before Graham would even consider it though, Graham like Cody is rather empathetic. I think Kade and Hayley would have to have been solidly broken up for many months if not a whole year before this relationship would happen.
Graham x Hayley Headcanons
🌿Perfect example of ‘we get to take turns rambling about the subjects we each like’. Even if they don’t know much about what the other is talking about, they listen intently and wait their turn.
🌿Hayley would definitely be the sweet girlfriend to bring Graham his lunch (to the construction cite) if he forgot it, or make him one herself.
🌿Graham on the other hand wouldn’t go to her job at all really, but he would bring supplies of hers in if she asked. Kids will be kids and have tons of questions for Graham and Hayley, ranging from ‘who is he?’ To ‘is that your boyfriend?’, especially if Hayley has no shame and kisses him on the cheek in greeting. Poor Graham would get flustered and try to leave as soon as possible.
🌿Hayley would get Graham to garden with her and of course Boulder would third wheel, but they don’t really mind. Honestly it’s a wholesome activity for the three of them to do altogether and bond.
🌿Graham would share blueprints of building projects with Hayley and she would suggest specific flora for the area, taking into consideration what would thrive the best.
🌿Their date ideas consist of restaurant dates, library dates, picnics, nature walks, and going to the arcade.
🌿Hayley might have a little too much fun making girl-shy Graham blush, since before him she had overconfident Kade.
🌿Hayley loves children and Graham likes kids too, but Hayley definitely wants a handful of kids whereas that thought scares Graham. He’s super anxious about it and doesn’t think he’d make a good dad. He avoids the topic which I think would be the main thing they would fight about in their relationship should things get serious.

- the jedi all go to the same temple, in this au the jedi religion is no different then being Jewish, Muslim, Christian, ect.
- Caleb and Cal are neighbors, they've been besties since kindergarten (I refuse to separate these two, they are now a pair)
- Caleb's nickname is Kanan
- masters= parents (adopted or bio, a few exception cases like Ahsoka and Ani, Obi wan and Ani, ect.)
- obi wan is qui gon's bio kid, Anakin was adopted
-Ahsoka is adopted by plo koon
- while I would love to include all clones, last time I tried that I fried my modern AU, so here's a more edited list with my faves
- Jango had Boba and Omega
- Rex and Cody are brothers, they're boba and omega's cousins
- the bad batch(quintuplets) + domino twins are brothers and are boba and omega's first cousin once removed (so Jango's aunt/uncle's kids)
- pretty much everyone in the fett family joins the military to some degree
-Bd-1 is Cal's small dog, C3P0 is a golden retriever (or possibly a service dog for Ani due to childhood trauma) and R2 is a cat (maybe a tuxedo), Chewwie is one of those big super fluffy dogs, Chopper is a ginger cat, and Jar Jar is Padme's overly excitable yippy dog (couldn't decide on a breed)
- Hera and Kanan eventually adopt a wolf dog they name Dume, Chopper hates sharing attention
- Kanan adopts Ezra
- Sabine is related to Bo-Katan and Satine (somehow, I know she's the same clan so extended family!)
- After meeting clan Wren (I am writing this as I watch Rebels) I have decided Ursa was Satine and Bo-Katan's adpoted first cousin once removed
- Hera is totally Airforce, like I feel like that's the closest to her role in rebels, her and Kanan met in highschool
- their song, which later became their first dance at their wedding, is "Ain't no mountain high enough"
- Zeb is another friend of theirs from highschool, he was a year or two younger
- Zeb is a security guard, Ezra is an animal conservationist (see him and Loth wolves), his parents had a radio show where they talked about endangered species
- Kanan is a firefighter (because irony) and Cal is an elementary school teacher who is in charge of his school's fencing club
- in this au Kanan's injury comes from a job, once he's blinded he joins Ezra in his work
- Cere is a highschool music teacher, Merin is a history teacher who also has an elective cultures course, and Greez is a freelance pilot who's business is definitely totally 100% legal(/s aka he takes some shady jobs)
- Cere and Greez are neighbors, Merin works at the same school as Cere, and she meets Cal through her
- Din obviously adopts Grogu at some point, and Luke volunteers at the temple's Sunday school which is where he meets them(???)
- I feel like Luke would own a martial arts school, Leia becomes a politician like her mum, Anakin would be a robotics engineer
- Satine is prime Minister of Mandalore, Bo- Katan is either military or lawyer (she strikes me as the lawyer type), Sabine was going to join the military but ended up pursuing an artistic career, Korki wants to go into politics like his aunt
- Mandalore works like the u.s where it's a bunch of small countries a trench coat, except they're more functional... mostly
- Obi wan is either a social worker (helping other kids like Anakin) or some kind of diplomat, he only became a diplomat cause he took a few classes to spend more time with a cute international student *cough* Satine *cough* and found he was good at diplomacy
- Plo Koon and Ahsoka are body guards/ security, Plo has his own company, Ahsoka started as being in charge of marketing (I consulted my mom for Ahsoka's job and she suggested marketing because she's so bubbly)

you and matt as parents
"Parents"
When our son is born, you are immensely proud. You won't stop gushing over him; you tell everyone about how cute he is, and how amazing everything he does is. Of course, since he's only a newborn, he doesn't do much, but you still brag about him.
When he is a year old, you talk to him as if he's already an adult. You show him the things that interest you, hoping that some of them will rub off on him, and later you will get to enjoy these things together. You teach him words, and I teach him the signs for them in American Sign Language. He is not deaf, but it is useful to know, anyway.
When he is a toddler, he is difficult to keep up with. I often hear you scolding him. "Cody, don't touch that. Cody, you can't be there. No, Cody." I giggle whenever I think about how you once found him in your laundry basket, pretending that it was a boat.
When Cody is four years old, he loves playing with his cousin, Grayson. They play rough together, which makes me panic sometimes, but you are always there to reassure me that you and your brothers were the same at that age, and that it's normal behavior for boys. So I try not to worry about it too much.
When Cody is in kindergarten, neither of us are surprised at his creative talents. He paints and draws rather well, to the admiration of his peers. He asks for art supplies for his birthday and Christmas, and both of us encourage him to pursue his dreams of becoming an art teacher.
Cody loves both of us, and of course we love him with all of our hearts. We are so proud of him, and would give him anything in the world, if we could.
One day, he comes into our bedroom while we're talking. "Mom? Dad?" he asks us.
"What is it, baby?" I ask him.
He pauses. "Grayson has a baby sister," he tells us, as if we didn't know.
"Mhm," you nod at him.
"I think… I think I want a baby sister, too," he says.
You and I look at each other. "What do you think?" I ask you.
"Yeah, okay," you nod again. "But only if you're ready," you chuckle at me.
I raise my eyebrows at you. Then I look back at Cody. I love his precious little face, and how much like you he is. I do kind of miss having a tiny baby in my arms… "Okay," I agree. "You got it."
Cody runs up to me and hugs me. "Thank you, mom," he smiles. Then he goes over to you and hugs you, too. "Thank you, dad." Then he skips happily out of our room.
"You're gonna have to close the door behind you if you want that sister, though," you call after him.
"Matthew!" I say, hitting you with a pillow as you laugh.

Brain Curd #72
Brain Curds are lightly edited flash fiction - practically first drafts - posted daily and sometimes written with the express intention of being terrible… but, you know, in an endearing way. The following is a continuation of yesterday's Brain Curd - read that first!
Postal Fred raised his hand. “Can I go first?”
Cody gave an affirmative hand gesture.
“I’ve been doing good lately, mostly, but I had a setback. You remember that guy who kept putting the wrong amount of postage on everything? A couple days ago, he came in, and I tried to stay calm, but it was too much to take. The label said it was for a three pound box with dimensions of twelve by twelve by twelve, but it was a four-and-a-half pound box with dimensions of twelve by ten by thirteen!”
“What happened?” Cody asked, with all the patience and grace of a kindergarten teacher.
“I did what I believe any self-respecting postal worker would do. I followed protocol and told him this was insufficient postage and that he could either pay for a new label here or go back home and print one with accurate numbers.”
The group snapped in applause.
“That doesn’t sound so bad, Fred.”
“Exactly. That’s when it got bad. He started arguing with me, saying no one was going to notice ‘one pound’ and that the size was ‘close enough’ and that the price difference was ‘nothing’. I told him, hey man, we can’t bend the rules to save you a dollar, we’ll go broke, and he started throwing coins at me, saying, ‘Fine! Fine! Let me buy a stamp to make up the difference! I don’t have time for this, I’m a busy man!’.”
Fred started crying, and put his face in his hands.
“That’s not how it works!”
Roberta put her hand on his back to comfort him. “I’m sorry you had to go through that.”
He hugged her tightly, burying his face into her abdomen. Government Man thought it looked very uncomfortable, since Roberta had very defined and firm abdominal muscles.
Cody waited a moment to see if Fred had anything more to say. “Thank you for sharing,” he said, before moving on to someone else. Pablo raised his hand and Cody gave him a thumbs-up.
“My bakery has been attacked once again by the Yeastie Boys. They smashed the back window and unlocked the door, then came in and took all my honey and left several gallons of homebrew mead. I think what gets to me the most is all the questions: like, if they didn’t have honey, how did they make the mead? And why do they leave things behind like that? It doesn’t make any sense.”
Richard half-raised his hand. “Was the mead any good?”
“I don’t know, I don’t drink.”
“Do you… do you have any left?”
“The police took it as evidence.”
“Dammit.” Richard crossed his arms. “They’re just gonna drink it themselves.”
Pablo continued. “Last time they left behind the best croissants I have ever tasted. I’d think about hiring these crooks if I knew who they were. I just want them to stop stealing my ingredients! I couldn’t fulfill a large order for cornbread because I had no honey. I’m in danger of bankruptcy.” He sighed. “Anyway, that’s all that’s going on with me.
Cody looked around and set his eyes on the theater usher. “Deborah, do you have anything to share?”
“Not really… Honestly, once I stopped trying to stop Charlie from sneaking into the theater, things went back to normal. I’ve just been living my life again. It’s nice.”
The group snapped in applause. They sure liked doing that.
Cody turned his gaze. “Richard?”
“Nothing new to report this week. The plumbing business has been reasonably stable.”
All eyes were on Government Man, now. He didn’t like it.
“Government Man,” Cody said, “How much can you share about your adversary?”
He swallowed. “My adversary is… classified. But I will tell you this: He is always one step ahead of me. I have never seen him and yet he knows exactly how to manipulate me. He has impersonated my coworker. He has escaped my grasp. He has infiltrated my dreams. I have not slept a full night since our first encounter. All I want is for things to be how they once were. For things to go back to normal. Everything used to be so easy then - go here, go there, shoot that, cuff him, follow that car… I’m trapped now. Trapped in this diabolical plot.”
Government Man leaned back in his chair and sighed. “I don’t feel like myself anymore.”
Cody put his hands together and leaned forward. He spoke softly. “Things can be okay again. You just have to let him go.”
“I cannot do that. I cannot let him get away.”
“You don’t have to. But you need to stop thinking about him at every moment, or else he wins. Because if you don’t get the rest you need, Government Man, you won’t be able to stop him.”
Government Man’s weary eyes met Cody’s.
“Find any sort of healthy distraction you can. Maybe get a new plant for your garden.”
Government Man took a deep breath and let it out.

Modern AU Drabble #2
Note: I've been getting more and more attached to this AU, and it snowed. So like, *presents drabble* Enjoy!
~~~
Cody was leaning against a tree, his arms crossed as he watched the Ghosts and Torrents making the most of the snow day.
His siblings had dragged him along on their conquest of the nearby park, and now they were having the time of their lives, pelting each other with snowballs and making sculptures.
Wooley bounded up to him. "Cody, can you show me how to make better snowballs? Tup and Dogma are massacring us."
Cody suppressed a chuckle and knelt down, scooping up a handful of snow. "The trick is to pack the snow tightly without making it crumble." He explained, carefully pressing the snow together. "Make sure not to grab any ice."
Wooley stared up at him for a moment before nodding. They grabbed some snow as well and bunched it together. Some of it crumbled, but the rest stayed.
Wooley beamed up at him. "Thank you!" They cheered and ran off.
Cody straightened back up and grinned as he watched Wooley tackle Tup into the snow. Ghost group 1, Torrent group 0.
"Cody!" A familiar voice called out to him. He glanced over and spotted Obi-Wan. Ahsoka was already sprinting towards Fives and Echo. Whether she wanted to hug them or shove them into the snow, he did not know.
"Hello, Obi-Wan." He greeted with a smile.
"You're a kindergarten teacher!" Obi-Wan announced.
Cody smirked. "No, those are all my siblings." He grandly motioned at the twenty-something kids who had taken over the park.
Obi-Wan stared. "Your parents must have been busy." He eventually managed, and Cody wheezed.
Codywanbingo Fill 1
So, it’s been months since I got my alternative professions bingo card for the @codywanbingo but I finally got hit with inspiration (thank you, @glimmerglanger!) for the first prompt fill today. Enjoy this Modern AU with Obi-Wan meeting his niblings’ kindergarten teacher for the first time!
Pairing: Obi-Wan Kenobi/Commander Cody Prompt: Teacher Words: ~750 Rating: G
Ficlet and card under the cut!
Obi-Wan pulled into the school parking lot and cast a quick glance at his watch. He had made it just in time to pick up his brother’s kids.
Letting out a slow breath, he pulled the key out of the ignition and got out of the car, making his way over to the side entrance leading to the kindergarten after checking his trunk to make sure he had car seats along for the twins. He did, luckily. He wasn’t sure what he would have done otherwise.
As soon as he opened the door to the building a cacophony of noise crashed over him.
He passed through the din of high-pitched kids’ voices excitedly showing their parents or grandparents or other legal guardians their creations of the day and the sound of rubber boots thudding down the hallway to a classroom further down. Padmé had been so kind to tell him both the name of the twins’ teacher and the room they were in.
The door was open.
“Oh no!” a voice with an Aussie or Kiwi accent, Obi-Wan wasn’t quite sure which, called out theatrically from the inside, “I have been overwhelmed! The minions of evil are too powerful!” Squeals and delighted laughter followed as the man groaned and fell silent.
Obi-Wan peered inside, intrigued. Some children stood in a circle around a lump of bodies in their midst. The teacher, Obi-Wan presumed, at the bottom and five children, his niece and nephew among them, trying to pin him to the ground.
“Mister Fett! Mister Fett! You can beat them!” a black girl called, bouncing on the balls of her feet. “You’re stronger than them! You just gotta get up!”
“You think so?” came a muffled voice from the floor.
“YES!” shouted the kids in the circle.
Smiling, Obi-Wan watched transfixed as the conglomerate rose off the floor until finally the man stood, three children clinging to his arms, and one to each leg. His smile froze as his eyes took in the orange henley pulled taut by broad shoulders and let his gaze trail slowly downward. He swallowed.
The man—Mr. Fett—turned, the children still holding on for dear life, and looked over at the door and then up. Obi-Wan swallowed again, mouth helplessly dry, because this was the handsomest man he had seen in a while.
“Okay kids, looks like time’s up for today. Everybody double check their seat to make sure everything is cleaned up!”
Other adults pushed past Obi-Wan, greeting the teacher as they went in to gather their children. The man greeted back, excusing himself from one parent, and made his way toward Obi-Wan.
“Can I help you, sir?” Mr. Fett asked, coming to a stop in front of Obi-Wan, a serious look on his face.
“Ah,” Obi-Wan said, eloquently, while his brain tried to kickstart, “yes, pardon me. I’m here to pick up Luke and Leia.”
The teacher lifted an eyebrow. Clearly that was not enough information
“My name is on their pick-up list. Obi-Wan Kenobi,” he went on. “I probably should have said that first.”
A smile broke out on Mr. Fett’s face and by the gods, Obi-Wan clearly needed to get laid if he had so much trouble thinking around an admittedly extremely handsome person. “No worries. Had to check, though, just to be safe.”
“Yes, of course,” he replied, smiling back. “I’ll be picking them up every Tuesday for the next few weeks and possibly on some days in between as well.”
“Uncle Obi!” Leia called, barreling into him, Luke following immediately behind her. They had their bags slung over their backs, ready to go.
“Well,” Mr. Fett said, warmth suffusing his voice and a smile tugging at the scar curled around his left eye, “I guess we’ll be seeing more of each other then.”
“Yes, certainly, I look forward to it,” Obi-Wan blurted, cursing himself internally as soon as the words left his mouth. “I’m sorry, we need to get going. Until then, Mr. Fett,it’s been a pleasure meeting you,” he said, making a hasty retreat before he could make more of a fool of himself.
“Pleasure’s all mine,” came the reply, “and the name’s Cody.”
Their eyes met one more time before Cody turned away to talk to the woman from before and Obi-wan ushered the twins toward the exit.
Perhaps, he thought, watching the twins buckle themselves up, he could pick them up more often. And perhaps, just perhaps, he could get to know Cody a little better.
cody.
When I was in kindergarten I was friends with a boy named Cody. We sat at the same table. I was the only girl invited to his birthday party at the bowling alley that same year. I remember him being funny, and I was always laughing at his jokes and probably gooding off right alongside him. We once had to be separated and moved to different tables bc we wouldn't shut up and be quiet. Somehow, though, we would find ourselves back at the same table. He had every sports team jersey. He had older siblings, but he was the baby. He had blue eyes. I remember on valentines day i remember that i sent him a secret valentine card in his little baggie and he didn't know it was me. I didn't like sign it, being anonymous. Idk if he ever found out, but we were kids, so it wouldn't really matter anyway. I don’t really remember what it said. Probably was corny.
Years later, we ended up graduating together. In fact, he sat pretty close by at the ceremony (a row behind) and all, even though we lost touch as kids bc we were in different classes through the rest of elementary, middle, and high school. He hid a beach ball under his seat at graduation, and we were bouncing it around our section during the speeches. He was a goofball, always was. The beachball was later confiscated by a teacher or aide less than five minutes later. I haven't seen him since then, but I hope he's doing well. I remember him fondly. 😊
San Diego Unified Is Projecting Big Budget Deficits
San Diego Unified is projecting eye-popping budget deficits in the near future.
The budget for the San Diego Unified’s 2022 – 2023 school year was unanimously approved by the board at its June 27 meeting. But during that meeting, officials projected a looming $128.9 million deficit in the 2024 – 2025 year. It also projected the deficit would continue to expand the year after that, ballooning to $182 million.
The projected deficit comes from a confluence of factors: One-time Covid money is running out, school funding from the state decreased this year and enrollment and average daily attendance continue to decline. But another factor is rising costs, including increased staff pay.
The district recently inked a three-year deal with the teachers union that included a 5 percent pay increase for employees beginning next year and a retroactive 10 percent pay increase that goes back to July 2022. All told, the deal will cost the district around $517 million. The cost of the retroactive pay increase alone amounts to around $130 million, Maureen Magee, the district’s communications director wrote in an email.
Granting a pay increase while also projecting a deficit may seem incongruous to some, board member Cody Petterson acknowledged at a recent board meeting.
“When you see these outyear projections it’s a little scary for us as a board and leadership team, and then you see the negotiations we’ve had with our labor partners,” Petterson said. But to attract and retain staff, he said, the district needed to offer raises.
“There’s no way we can have high quality staff without doing that,” he said.
While the projected deficit is daunting, board member Richard Barrera said the district is used to deficits like this.
“This is my fifteenth year on the board, and every year when we look out over the following couple of years, we project a budget deficit,” Barrera said. “It’s the reality of running public schools in California, which has chronically underfunded public education.”
The History: Back in the 2017 – 2018 school year, the district had to plug a $124 million budgetary hole. Its path to doing so included the layoffs of nearly 200 employees, though the exact number was hard to come by. But Barrera and fellow board member Shana Hazan are confident the district will be able to balance the budget, and that it won’t have to resort to layoffs this time around.
“If we need to reduce staff to maintain sort of the same ratios as enrollment and [average daily attendance] decline the district is very, very skilled at figuring out how to do that without laying people off,” Barrera said. Taking advantage of retirements and staff attrition is one way to get there, he said.
District leaders have floated a hiring and spending freeze and reductions in central office staff to plug the budget hole. They’ve also floated attempting to increase average daily attendance in the new post-Covid era of skyrocketing chronic absenteeism. Officials hope leaning into universal transitional kindergarten and the hiring of 14 family services assistants that work to support students can help them make headway on that goal.
Another potential strategy is to cut back on some as-of-yet unnamed programs. Barrera said that prospect would be unfortunate.
“Our students and our families are facing more stress than they ever have, so the needs are greater than they’ve ever been,” Barrera said. “The federal Covid fund temporarily provided the level of funding that our schools have always needed, but that money is going away.”
Much is still unknown about what’s to come. California could increase funding for schools, as it has done in some past years. But with public school enrollment projected to continue falling, the current outlook is gloomy.
“This is a roadmap for sweating. We’re going to have to sweat a bit,” Petterson said. *Reposted article from the VOSD by Jakob McWhinney on July 5, 2023
5 Must See Movies You Might Have Missed
So I’m realizing that in 2018 I didn’t see many movies so I am catching up on them now! Recently I’ve been taking in A LOT of content so here are the movies of 2018 you may have watched but need to find the nearest screen and watch now.
1. Upgrade (2018)
Tumblr media
This movie set in the future where technology runs almost everything is about a man (Logan Marshall-Green) who hates technology gets help from it to avenge his murdered wife. I’m not gonna lie the sci fi genre is the last genre I go to when I watch movies. My friend Kelsey was ranting and raving about this when it was out but I just recently discovered that Cinemax has it for free. I watched it and oh my fucking god I’m so glad I did. Run don’t walk to watch this mind blowing film.
Where to watch: Cinemax, rent on itunes and amazon.
2. Assassination Nation (2018)
Tumblr media
What would happen if your entire town’s internet history got leaked? Well Assassainaton Nation plays out that scenario in the most extreme way. What I love about this film is that it calls out so much of the bullshit of what happens in our society and it’s kick ass. The beginning has a trigger warning which I liked cause it could be harmful to some viewers. These four girlfriends stay together while trying to fight off their crazy web obsessed town. I’ve been dying to see this cause I’m a Bella Thorne fan, she’s not in the movie much but she def leaves a mark like she usually does.
Where to watch: streaming on Hulu, rent it on itunes, amazon, or on demand.
3. The Kindergarten Teacher (2018)
Tumblr media
The Kindergarten teacher tells the tale of an Educator who thinks her six year old student is a poet prodigy. This film is a powerful slow burn. It’s one of those movies that had you frozen and shocked while the credits run. Also this is one of Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s best performances and that’s saying something cause she has A LOT.
Where to watch: streaming on Netflix.
4. Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018)
Tumblr media
I’ve already listed this as one of my favorite movies of 2018 but that’s because it’s not only a good film but an amazing EXPERIENCE. You literally get to choose what the main character does. I will warn you, none of the endings are that satisfying but the journey to get to them sure are fun. This groundbreaking movie is also a Netflix original so you have no excuse not to watch it right now!
Where to watch: streaming on Netflix.
5. Nappily Ever After (2018)
Tumblr media
This Netflix Original about a black woman named Violet (played by the fabulous Sanaa Lathan who shaved her head for the role) learns to losen up really resonated in me. She grows up, like most black women do, putting to much identity and worrying about her hair. She shaves her head after a few mishaps and a mental breakdown and learns that the confidence she needed is in her. Growing up with a critical mother like hers made me cheer for her cause at the end of the day, hair is just fucking hair.
Where to watch: streaming on Netflix.
#TH1RTE3N  is  a  group  verse  based  around  original  slasher  lore.  if  you  want  to  know  more  or  you’re  interested  in  joining,  please  read  the  CARRD.
the plot follows a slasher in two different timelines, targeting a group of friends who all went to school together. the first timeline takes place in the summer of 2009, following graduation leading up to the first six victims being killed. there was a thirteen year gap, where most of the survivors fled town and moved on with their lives. the second time line picks up in the summer of 2022 with kill #7, when first hale came back to hell and ended up being the first kill of the new timeline. the killer used the funeral and threatened family members and friends to lure the other six names on the list back to hell. the original six victims are available to be written in the 2009 timeline. to make this plot work best, we need other citizens of hell, ohio too. think of the characters in your favorite slasher films. cops, classmates, siblings and cousins, exes, anyone that could spice up the plot through dynamics. you are welcome to make another character affiliated with any other existing character in the plot, as long as you discuss it with the mun of the character you are affiliating with first (i will check, don't be weird.)
