There was a theory going around that the islands Sonic's friends were stuck on had specific titans and the ancients that piloted each of these titans reflected the personality of him and his friends.

The one who sounded feminine, they were full of fire and determination and passion and the one who reached forth and leapt to avenge their friend with a battle cry, the pilot of Giganto, the Titan of Kronos Island: Amy

The silent warrior with a deeper voice, the one who respected the hero and voiced about their courage, the pilot of Wyvern, the Titan of Ares Island: Knuckles

The pilot who sounded younger than the others just from the voice, the one who had fallen silent for the longest at their friend's sacrifice, the one who rose up with determination and rallied the others, the one who reminded them of their friends plan and drove them to follow it through, the one who was willing to see it to end what the other started, the pilot of Knight, the Titan of Chaos Island: Tails

And the one who absorbed the corruption, the one who sacrificed, the hero who gave away their life to protect their world and companions, the pilot of the final titan: Sonic

That was one interesting and honestly really good theory. And while I was listening to the songs with that theory in mind I realized something. Each of the boss battle songs reflects them just like the ancients which piloted the titans did!

I mean, listen to the lyrics of each island's boss and it parallels the character stuck on that island!

Amy was stuck on Kronos Island and the boss battle song during the fight against Giganto is Undefeatable. The lyrics kinda reflect her character arc!

And Knuckles was on Ares Island and the boss battle song of Wyvern is Break Through It All. The lyrics are literally like they are written for Knuckles' character.

And Find Your Flame?! The boss theme of Knight, the Titan of the island Tails was stuck on-! It literally screams Tails character arc and growth in Frontiers. The chorus fit him so well! And all the other verses too.

And the theme of the final titan, the same titan whose pilot trapped the corruption inside Supreme and sacrificed themself self, is I'm Here and that's Sonic in the whole game! The song perfectly reflects Sonic's thought process about helping his friends and the journey and his tendency to encourage and stand by them.

Bonus: The theme of the final boss, the purple colored moon sized celestial being termed "The End" sounded soft and melancholic but still pretty awesome and it gives off Sage feels.

A peek in the Tammi-verse

While I usually get requests to make other variants of Tammi, this is the first time I've been asked to make Tammi's from the TADC AUs people have created! So I thought I'd not only share them here but also give slight insight as to what I had in mind for how my little tamagotchi dumbass fits into both universes. (That being said I'd like to apologize in advance if I get anything inaccurate. I know a lot of time and effort goes into making these AUs and I am a dummy that can get things wrong and is kinda new to the TADC AU rabbit hole.)

I figured since she has no performance skills whatsoever this was her way of compensating when she arrived. After probably being berated and called a failure. Besides who doesn't like winning prizes? The Amazing Digital Fightclub AU by @burrotello

This gal is loosely based off spiders hence the four arms. I just knew I wanted her to have them. I think making her outfit was my favorite part of this! I wanted to keep her skirt but also didn't know how well that would fit into a boxing outfit until it hit me. Make it transparent! That always looks more athletic....right? I can also imagine her keeping her "Anime video-game goofiness" as I like to call it as every time she lands a hard punch, little emoji faces pop up. Almost as if they're taunting her opponents for getting hit.

I was originally only gonna do the one drawing but then my brain said "NO WE'RE MAKIN' STATS!"

Finally decided to do a TVD rewatch now that the 'verse is complete. Since I know how everything ends I thought it would be interesting to see how I react with that knowledge. Curious if my feelings might change about characters, ships, storylines etc. (obviously I am fully aware there's going some bias).

Adding my thoughts after I complete the half-way mark of each season (there is simply too many episodes to do a recap of each one). I am talking to the void mostly here but feel free to leave comments, thoughts on my posts for those who still follow me or just find this post. S1 Episodes 1-11

I am loving the dark atmosphere of the first season, feeling so much nostalgia! Nice to go back in time to when vampires were scary on this show. That's not really criticism because every supernatural show goes through this. The big bad must always be upped as it goes on but it was nice when the stakes were lower and the mythos was being developed.

Damon makes me feel so uncomfortable so far... I know he was the 'villian' for most of the beginning of the season but his treatment of Vicki and Caroline is just so predatory and gross. Which brings me to...

WHY HAS NO ONE GIVEN CAROLINE A GOD DAMN VERVAIN NECKLACE ALREADY!!! Stefan and Elena both know Damon was using her (and they know damn well he hasn't stopped). Her Mom has the vervain to give her and just has not for no reason!! GET AWAY FROM HER ALREADY! I got so mad when Damon was compelling her AGAIN in the 10th episode. I'm so glad she outlives them all, justice for my baby!

I'm sorry but Stefan is so creepy and self-righteous in the beginning, I remembered this but did not remember how bad it was. Also he did not need to kill Vicki, that pissed me off. I don't think it did as much when I first watch this (mind you that was literally 14+ years ago) but just knowing how freely everyone neck-snaps around here it was bullshit. His one cool moment remains when he told Logan he can't walk in the sun. The manipulative way he used Elena’s adoption to get her to forgive him had me rolling my eyes (then of course she used it against Jenna to get out of trouble lol).

I can't remember who the other vampire is who turned Logan, I'm thinking its Pearl's henchman but yeah I don't remember that part. I also didn't remember the crystal so I like that some of this is like a 'mystery' again.

I did remember that I thought Tyler was such a dick in the first season and yeah confirmed. Though now I remembered his Dad was an abusive piece of shit. Still, fuck Tyler for now.

Alaric looks so different I don't hate him (yet).

The progression of Bonnie realizing her powers has been well done, again nice to just see the simple magic again. (Stefan totally wanted to bang Sheila back in the day... maybe they did)

Jeremy just met Anna and I still love them, I wish they got more time. They were the only 'ship I like in this season when it first aired.

The Bonnie, Elena and Caroline friendship is nice but I am annoyed they haven't done more to protect Caro from Damon. Especially when she doesn't know what's going on and they do (though Bonnie only just got all the deets). This might be magnified by my love of Caroline I admit but I hate the prop-y way she's being used so far.

I kinda rolled my eyes at the whole Katherine/Damon/Stefan stuff before Elena knew they were vamps because OMG Stefan is 17(!!!) Does no one thinks it's weird he's like "it was a long time ago" A LONG TIME AGO LIKE WHEN YOU WERE 12?! They should have made him at least 20, just bothers me.

I liked that not every vampire had a daylight ring and it was more of a novelty. That is something that could have stuck more in the later seasons.

Lines that made me laugh:

Caroline: Yeah, Elena wasn't so lucky today. It's only because you missed summer camp. God, I don't know how you're ever going to learn the routines. (Bonnie offers to help her) I guess we can put her in the back. (all right in front of Elena lmao oh Caroline never change)

Caroline: So, Elena...how long do you think this fight with Stefan's gonna last? Is it...like a permanent thing? (eyes on the prize baby! lol)

Stefan: (imitating Damon) Now that the secret society of vampire haters is off our back, I can go back to my routine of how can I destroy Stefan’s life this week. (never gets old!)

Into the spider-verse: Xiomara’s intro

Sum: this is my intro to my au fanfic. Puerto Rico’s Araña-Mujer & it takes place on Earth 906. This starts in Xi’s POV‼️

A/n: The other characters come in later. The story really starts after her intro so this of this rlly as an intro/pt.1 ‼️ In this story Xiomara does end up with Miles G. Morales. HOWEVER, this is being posted as a test to see ‘how good’..this fic is. This is basically a ‘rough draft’ I’ve honestly barely edited this. Okay let’s get this started , Hi I’m Xiomara Marina Aguillar . Puerto Rico’s one and only Spider girl. I got bitten by a radio active spider on a school field trip to Oscorp Labs for a career day. My spider bite gave me special venom powers through nails that can temporarily paralyze my victim. As well as camouflage effect that allows me to blend into any surroundings, also my body temperature drops leaving me undetectable to heat vision. I’m 15 years old and attend Visions, the center of advanced studies..It’s..It’s really just a highschool, but I like to remind myself of what my papa said to me. “Mija, you earned your place at that school! I’ll be damned to see stuck up children run you away from a proper education!!” Something my father didn’t have growing up. I tested very highly my whole life and always got good grades, school and education came so naturally to me..friends..not so much.

It was my papa’s dream for me to go to this school , so who was my mother to deny a man on his deathbed his dream for his eldest daughter right?…he..hehe. Yeahhh uh…My pa, he’s gone…He passed away when I was 13 from Cancer, but I don't like to remember him as a Cancer patient! I like to remember him for just being my papa. The one cracking jokes, cooking good food and saving lives as a firefighter…

I always wished he never got sick because then I just know..My life wouldn’t be the way it is now..

Months after my papa’s death my mother went downhill even almost lost her nursing license. She picked up drinking and smoking cigarettes heavily, also picking up extreme hours at the hospital to try to keep us afloat. She liked to claim all the hours were for keeping us afloat..a part of me believed that. That she was still the mami who used to give pep talks and smother you in kisses every morning, but really I knew it was also to feed her addiction..Apart of my mom still wanted to be a mother but sometimes couldn't bare to look at us and so I tried really hard to shelter my siblings from this part of her, but as they got older they became coherent to their surroundings . It was hard for us emotionally and financially, we were even still paying off his medical bills and that alone was a struggle to do.. Don’t get me wrong, my parents both made good money. I wouldn’t say we are DIRT poor as of right now, just struggling.. Those bills were just always a harsh reminder to us that he was gone..

We even lived in a beautiful house when he was alive but the hospital bills, caring for us, our wants and needs no matter what, bills..It swallowed them as his hours at work decreased more and more due to his cancer getting worse. Eventually putting him on disability we slowly got back afloat, but when he passed and we no longer got his disability income we lost our home and my mom lost her sanity. My parents worked so hard their whole lives to get us outta the hood for us to end up right back there . As I stated my mami kinda went..loco, She wasn’t herself any more, gave us no attention and became very cold and mean as the alcohol addiction increased so I picked up the care of my younger siblings and our apartment we moved into after the loss of the house. It was just my moms job to give me her paycheck to get it ALL done..Eventually we would argue about the money and costs of her habits so I had to pick up a job to pick up her slack..But that's enough of my life story let’s just get into it…

Re: my last comments about wanting to reread Lavender.

Have you ever thought about any differing OG Lavender-verse where Joel does get over his shit a little quicker? I’m still mad at him for *spoilers* being mad at her for not telling him about the thing. Like it’s so reasonable that she was going to but *things* got in the way. And what she went through to TRY to keep everybody safe… ugh. It’s telling how traumatized he is that he couldn’t get it together but I think sometimes he was too hardheaded.

Also, I never thought about it but as you say in the AU he’s her everything. That’s me & my now husband. He was older (6 years, not crazy) and my first and only. Now 16 years later and married and still very happy, maybe I appreciate that story element bc I relate ❤️

Spoilers for Lavender below the cut!

So there were a few points where things could have diverged in the OG Lavender-verse. The big one being, Doc doesn't lose the baby. He would still be traumatized as fuck and their relationship would be rocky but they may never fully break up (or, if they did, it wouldn't be for as long because Evie would force them to see each other and they couldn't keep their hands each other if they had to be around each other often.) Their relationship would have been ROCKY though and I'm not sure it would have lasted as Evie grew closer to adulthood.

There were some other points where things could have been different, too. The first time Doc leaves the QZ and it's just her and Joel and they run into raiders on the way back? By that point, Joel was kind of at this tipping point. He was so shaken by the near loss of her - and they'd just slept together the night before and had been in such close proximity for more than a day by that point - that he was very nearly ready to try to get her to give him another shot. Her freak out about the raiders - and her snapping and telling him that Sarah's death was NOT on her - pushed him the other way. Now if they'd gotten back together here, I'm not sure it would have stuck for long? She may have latched on tighter and not let him pull away when he started to devolve again but otherwise, he'd still be coping with a lot of the same trauma brain shit he was otherwise and it would have taken its toll.

Another time was after McCarthy comes to the QZ, when he finally knows everything that happened during the outbreak and feels so guilt ridden about it all. If they'd had sex that night, they'd have been together again at least for a while. But trauma brain Joel would have come along to ruin the party again.

The big thing is, the QZ was an inherently retraumatizing place to be, especially for Joel (the militarized power, being surrounded by death, etc.) and his brain going "HEY CARING ABOUT SOMEONE IN A PLACE LIKE THIS WILL LEAD TO YOUR DEATH" would, at the very least, make their relationship's survival a constant fucking struggle. The reason it sticks later is a combination of things. 1) He's at this unique point of "she's leaving and you will never see her again, you are losing her, this is the end" that forces him to admit just how much he cares about her in spite of trying to push her away for so many years. It also forces him to realize just how desperate he is to keep from losing her. He can't live without her, proximity (or lack there of) won't change that for him. 2) They're forced to stay together and work together to get Ellie to where she needs to go, so things that might normally force distance can't. She can't run to Andrew, he can't run to Tess, they can only turn to each other and they do. 3) They end up in Jackson, which is a far more healthy environment than the QZ, and - outside of shit like KC and stuff with the fireflies and a few blips along the way - the trek west is relatively peaceful compared to QZ life. Yes they're under threat and cautious and it's a struggle to survive BUT you're not being held at gunpoint by agents of the state and burning the bodies of dead children on the regular, a vast improvement over QZ life (and obviously major triggers for Joel.) This gives Joel some emotional space to come to terms with his trauma and start to heal and recover, pulling him out of this cycle of constant retraumatization. It's like with Maslow's hierarchy of needs. QZ Joel could never make it past that first level, when he constantly felt like his life was at risk he can't do the bigger work of healing and self actualizing. All his emotional energy is spent on survival. Once he has the space to do it, he can start to heal and be a partner to Doc.

ANYWAY I know I basically wrote a super long novel here lol! I hope it makes sense (and know that my interpretation is NOT the only valid one!!! It's definitely OK to be like "nah I think if they'd done x differently it would have worked.") I definitely get sad about all their lost years from time to time but I'm so glad they found their way back to each other in the end.

Hello there! So as all you drdt fans may know, the creator of drdt dropped a characters playlist where each song correlates with another character. Well, of course, as a natural fangan fan, me and a few buddies on discord have been analyzing the shit out of these songs and I want to present our findings here.

There are a few tracks I won’t be covering (2,13,15&16) because I have no idea who they belong to, and a track (5) I’m not 100% sure on that’s the person they go to, but I’ll give a little context behind my guess. Feel free to debate any of this in the comments. I also got English translations for the songs that are not in English so I’ll be basing my theories off those English translations and if anyone wants them, dm me.

Without further ado, here we go!

(Yes there are going to be DRDT spoilers)

Track 1 (Jotaro’s theme) - Xander

I feel like this has literally been universally agreed on by the fandom, as it just generally describes his fiery personality and the fact he “broke down” when he attempted to kill Teruko. Right after, there are lyrics that say “what’s going on here” and I feel like this could refer to right after Xander stabbed her and he was wondering why he would do that in the first place. I’m not totally convinced on this one but I know most are so I think I’ll stick with the popular opinion :)

Track 3 (RUNAWAY) - Charles

This song definitely symbolizes Charles’s character development that he’s been going through. In the first verse it’s talking about his life beforehand and that he met someone who kind of freed him from his existence (who would be Whit). Then it kinda talks about seeing yourself and changing around bits and pieces of himself. What stood out to me is “redirecting my perfection somewhere else.” In the beginning he acted like he was perfect and above everyone, but as the series progresses he’s using his perfection complex to go and help the group. Last but not least, I think the chorus is kind of talking about his trauma and restrictions and that he needs to let them go, and Whit was like that divine intervention to help him face forward and push through his problems rather than just be stuck in fear. I know a lot of people will disagree and say his track is track 5, but since I don’t see any ships with him canonically confirmed (or any ships at all confirmed) I feel a lot of doubt toward putting anyone on track 5 just because we don’t know about who likes who or anything yet.

Track 4 (Cartoons) - Rose

I honestly think that everyone is onboard with the fact that this is Rose. I mean it talks a lot a about art, and the fact she expresses a lot of what she feels through art. Her art is connected to her visions and emotions, as seen through the seen with her and Teruko where she painted Teruko’s death since she couldn’t stop seeing it. Rose is also bad at communication, and the song talks a lot about communicating through art, and she does that as many others do. This one was probably one of the more self explanatory ones but I wanted to write about it anyway!

Track 6 (A Mistaken Belief of Love) - Eden

Again I feel this is a bit of a stretch, but I’ll try to explain my reasoning as best as I can. Throughout the series we’ve seen a pattern with Eden, as she goes and tries her we best to befriend someone and they end up disliking her. This song is about a sweet person who realizes someone doesn’t love them anymore, but keeps persisting for love from them. This is what Eden has been doing throughout the series, an example would be Teruko. Eden has bent over backwards to try and be nice to her and gain her trust, and despite Teruko telling her to leave and treating Eden like absolute dog shit, Eden stays even though her heart is broken and keeps trying. I love Eden :(

Track 7 (Spring Storm) - David

I just want to clarify before I start this one that I used an unofficial English translation of the song, since it was the only English translation I could find. The same applies to tracks 11 & 13.

This song is clearly about someone who is angry with the world and acts like an asshole because of that anger. That’s essentially what David is doing since ep11 of ch2, is he’s putting on an act and suddenly calling out people for hypocrisy and purposefully hurting their feelings. It’s implied this isn’t the true David Chiem either, and in the song it hints at this person just wants to be accepted and loved, but they can’t reach that because everything is always letting them down. That’s coincidentally my take on David’s backstory (for now) and it would make a lot of sense if this is his song-

Track 8 (YES MAN) - Teruko

It was very easy to find a translation of this song, and once you even see the first line of these lyrics it SCREAMS Teruko. The song is about doubting everyone around you, and mocking the world because of it which is literally ch2 Teruko in a nutshell. The “Undead!” chorus likely references the fact that Teruko can’t die and didn’t die after Xander’s murder attempt. The only part that’s making me doubt that this is Teruko’s song is that “Your heart is all I ever need”, which could allude to the fact she really liked Xander but I’m not super sure.

Track 9 - Min

This song is so Min. It’s literally about school and the pressure it puts on you, and Min is the ultimate student. Through the years it wears you down, and Min barely even smiled throughout the series unless she wasn’t focusing on studying. There was mentions about marks (grades) and habitual things, like Min’s huge focus on her grades and the fact she studies constantly. The lyrics are just so Min. It is literally Min. This is one of the one I’m most confident on. I love Min!

Track 10 (Drawing Pins) - Nico

I thought about this a bit, but I saw another theory on tumblr that agreed that this is Nico’s song and explained it more wonderfully than I did. This person is @huesofvioletandpurple and I recommend checking their theories out!

In a nutshell the person in this song feels like they don’t belong and they don’t know what they did to hurt someone’s feelings. This alludes to the fact Nico is a theyboss (nonbinary) person and was ridiculed for their identity, and the second part to when they pissed of Ace and Ace kept antagonizing them.

Track 11 - Hu

(TW: SUICIDAL IDEATION)

I got English lyrics for this! It took a while but pls dm me if you’d like them! To sum the song up, it’s about a person who is suicidal but is still trying to persist and be as good of a person as they can possibly be. With most of the secrets out, I’m on the side that the three attempts secret is Hu’s since I can’t see any of the other ones being hers. When the secrets come out, it will be likely that this song correlates to the person who has the three attempts secret. This is really just a very unsure theory, but with the way it describes the person just wants to help and be good in the song I can really only think that this is Hu’s song.

Track 12 (Tip Toes) - Arturo

The song is about thinking about leaving their bad past behind to accomplish their dreams. This song screams Arturo especially after his secret came out. He had to leave and he didn’t know his sister would do that. He’s probably fighting an internal war against himself with logic (that it isn’t his fault) and emotion (that it was his fault) and that is a huge point shown later in the song. I feel once we get more of his backstory or more Arturo screen time this will further prove that this is his song. This is the song and character pairing that I’m most confident in.

Track 14 (Spitfire) - Ace

Last but not least, we’ve got Ace Markey for Spitfire. This might be the most self explanatory one. The lyrics are basically “I spit fire” and “if I was in WW2 they’d call me spitfire” which probably alludes to Ace’s anger problems and the fact he can’t stop running his mouth and yelling at people when he’s angry. That’s it, that’s the theory.

Chapter 8: Just Checking in

Yo! I'm on fire... I wasn't expecting to write this one so quickly (given the crazy ammount of work I have right now) and yet here we are. Hope you like it!!

Summary: Shepard and Kaidan finally meet for the first time since she abandoned his room the previous night, but first, they’ll both have to endure a few more conversations with Garrus and Javik about their relationship.

“We'll be entering Quarian space in less than an hour.” EDI says through the ship’s comms, alerting the crew to get ready.

Kaidan switches on his omni-tool and takes note of it, as he always does, making sure every bit of the day is planned in his schedule.

“Okay, I got fifteen minutes, give  or take…” He says half joking, trying to ease the mood of the room a little. “But if this is really important I can bargain a few more with our boss… I’m on good terms with her.”

Garrus laughs and relaxes a bit, joining Kaidan on the couch and sitting by his side.

“That’s kinda why I’m here…” His friend looks at him with confusion for a second, until he’s able to clarify his statement. “I think… You get Shepard in a way no one is remotely close to achieving…”

“God, I hope so.” He says in between giggles, winning him a push on the shoulder from his friend.

“You know that’s not what I was talking about…”

“Yeah, sorry… I couldn’t help it.” He replies leaning backwards a bit, getting comfortable on the sofa, before asking directly about his problem. “So what’s eating you up Garrus? Had any problems with Mio?”

“Ehrmm…” Garrus’ sentence gets stuck for a moment, still not used to link that name to his best friend. “Ah, no… Not per se. It’s just that…”

Kaidan looks at him for a second, observing how he struggles to find the words to name what’s really bothering him, wondering what may have happened to them, before his own mind offers him an answer faster than his friend.

“Did she shut you off?” He asks with the more casual tone in the galaxy, like it’s not a surprise at all for him, which it isn’t. 

“Yeah…How..?”

He doesn’t need to finish that sentence either.

“Well, I know how you’re wired… And, as you said before: I do know her quite well.” Kaidan replies right away. “But so do you… So, what’s new?”

“Ha…” Garrus finds at least some encouragement in Kaidan's powers of deduction. “Of course, you see that too.”

“You’ve been her friend for what, more than four years? You know how it works, as well as I do.” Kaidan explains slowly, taking his time to find the right words. “So I imagine you said something you shouldn’t.”

“Yeah… Guess I overstepped a line I should not have…”

“But…”

Garrus smiles again, still amazed at the accuracy of Kaidan’s words.

“But, for the first time, I have no idea where the error lies… And is freaking the hell out of me.”

“Mmm…” He just hums, taking a small pause before continuing. “And you want to run it by me. See if I’ll be able to notice something you didn’t.”

“Kinda, yeah… If you’re okay with it… Are you okay with it?”

Kaidan laughs a little and takes another look at his omnitool.

“Yeah sure…” He agrees. “But you have only ten minutes left.”

He doesn’t even need half of them. 

Garrus starts talking right away, happy to find someone to share this with, and replays out loud his last conversation with Shepard, chapter and verse, in less than five minutes.

“The thing is, she actually talked to me about stuff she’s never had the nerve to even mention before… Everything was fine, the conversation was over, and then… Puff. She disconnected. Found, in an instant, an excuse to run away and vanished from the room before I knew what was happening.”

“That is weird…” He admits, amazed that Shepard made it through the tough part of the conversation just to run away in the middle of a joke. “But if you sensed something off… There has to be. I trust you gut.”

“Yeah? Because I’m starting to question it…”

“You said you were joking about knowing her better than anyone else?”

“Yeah… Something on the line of: do you know the amount of buzz and effort it’s taken me to get to know you?”

“And nothing else?” Kaidan asks a bit lost, not understanding where there could be a problem.

“No… Said that and I finished the whole thing joking, saying that I deserved it, for having a human as my best friend.”

Kaidan’s expression changes in the blink of an eye, losing entirely the smile he was wearing just a second ago.

“Oh well… Shit.” He murmurs, quickly catching the attention of the turian, who stares at him as he stands up and takes a few steps while facing the window.

“You know what the problem is…” He affirms more than asks.

“Yeah.” Kaidan admits while staring at the void of the galaxy.

“But you cannot tell me.”

Now he is the one surprised by the accuracy of his friend’s deduction, dedicating it a soft smile before turning to look at him.

“Yeah.” He admits one more time. “Sorry…”

“Nah, it’s okay… I get it.” He replies, standing up, taking a few steps to stop at his side. “I’m just glad I’m not crazy.”

“No, you’re not.” He waits a second, while a rogue smirk appears on his face “At least about this.”

The smile turns into a laugh right away, winning him a sigh from his friend before this one joins in on the fun.

“Ha, serves me right.” Garrus says while laughing. 

“Sorry again… Couldn’t help it either”

“I think Shepard is really becoming a bad influence on you, Alenko.”

“You know, you’re not the first to tell me that today.” He admits, smiling from ear to ear. “Am I really that bad?”

Garrus laughs a little and shakes his head a couple times.

“Course not… It’s a pleasure to see you like this, Kaidan.” 

He gives a soft pat on his shoulder and smiles at him, knowing that both their conversation and time left are over, ready to say goodbye to his friend. 

“Thanks for the talk.”

He starts talking towards the door but stops after hearing Kaidan calling for him.

“Garrus…” He turns to face him. “About Shepard…”

“Yeah?”

“You did nothing wrong… But she had a great deal of a reason to freak out.”

“I see…”

“Just… Give her time. She’ll tell you herself. Trust me”

Kaidan smiles and Garrus replies with the same coin, giving his friend a subtle nod right after.

“Thanks, Kaidan. I… Thank you.” He says, summing up his feelings, aware that they have no time to say something else. “Means a lot.”

Kaidan nods back at him, completely understanding his feelings.

“Anytime.”

Shepard hears the announcement almost as if it was an echo, that slowly disappears as the door on port cargo shuts close behind her.

“Looks familiar”

She says as she gets closer to the screen, staring at the displayed plans of her old ship, taking in the view as flashes of what happened in Alchera come back to her mind.

“I’ve been studying this ship, its crew. There was a Normandy before this one, you died in an attack.”

“Something like that.”

She smiles a little, eyes still glued to the pictures of her past, acknowledging how absurd the whole story seems when you hear it out loud.

“But then you were resurrected… To fight the reapers.”

“Maybe you and I have a thing or two in common.”

She closes her eyes for a second, focusing on her breathing, casting away her usual demons in order to keep present in their conversation.

“But you have something else: the reasons you fight are still alive. The friendships of the people around you.” Javik makes a small pause, building the anticipation for what he’s about to say. “And more.”

Shepard turns slowly to look at him, surprised to see where their conversation is heading.

“You and the human soldier are… Joined?” He affirms, more than he asks, more hesitant about the correct use of the terminology than about the facts he’s stating.

“You could say that.”

“I’m not. Your pheromones are.” 

This type of comments would've bothered her a few weeks ago but, after everything she’s endured in the past few days, plus the whole sexual itercorse thing that he said in front of Liara and Tali, she’s more than used to this type of statements coming from Javik.

Instead of replying, she just shrugs her shoulders, not knowing what else to add to that statement, and turns back once again to stare at the images shown on the screen.

“Is this why you wish to continue living? For their affection?”

Despite his usual way of phrasing his thoughts, this takes Shepard quite by surprise. Javik is often direct and ignores any of the harm that his words tend to inflict, but something in his tone of voice is different this time around. 

She finds something in that last sentence that she's not willing to let pass like it's nothing.

“Yes.” She admits right away, with a firmness in her speech that she hasn’t used with the prothean until now. “Is that a problem?”

“A surprise.” He replies without a second thought, still unaware of the effect of his words on the commander. “War is the only thing worth occupying your mind right now. That kind of feeling, that ‘affection’... Should be beneath you.”

“Without that ‘affection’, all I have in my life is death.” She says with the calmest tone of voice she’s able to summon. “And that’s not enough.”

Javik, who already had another comment prepared, stops himself from talking once he hears the beginning of what she has to say, suddenly shocked by the impactful reality of finding someone in this foreign universe who may be able to make him realize that he’s mistaken about something.

“Without feelings, without pain… I’d be just a machine.”

He looks at her, quite surprised by her statement, not expecting her to have such firm ideals and neither to be defending them with this level of conviction.

“And believe me, I’m not fighting and suffering just so that I end up turning into my enemy.”

The prothean stares at her for a couple seconds, still not knowing what to do with all that information.

“That’s a nice sentiment, I must admit.” He agrees but, after some hesitation, he goes back to his original line of thought. “Nevertheless, it is one that’s only allowed in fiction… And that, is the main difference between us.”

Shepard looks at him with a severe expression, but doesn’t interrupt him. Instead, she lets him talk, allowing him to expose what he truly thinks.

“I’ve done my research.” Javik adds, pointing at the screen. “You have fallen… You have risen. But you haven’t lost… Or at least, not yet.” 

She keeps listening in silence as he talks, knowing quite well where this is heading, but still not knowing how to react to it.

“Once you have seen every single person on this ship die, massacred in front of your eyes one by one… Once you have no other option than to sacrifice every single one of them… Along with what’s left of you. Sacrifice all that you are… Only then will you clearly understand that behaving like a human is not always an option.” 

Shepard stays submerged in her silence for a bit longer, investing her pause to breathe in, with a very long inhale, taking all the time in the world before formulating her reply.

“Ahhh…” She exhales. “You need to get better at researching…”

He is not only surprised by her answer, but also by the expression that follows it.

Shepard smiles a little at her own comment, but there’s a residual sadness in her demeanor that doesn’t pass by the prothean.

“Meaning?” He asks, not truly knowing how to interpret her reaction to his words.

“Everything you said, all you just described… That’s already happened.” 

She stops facing him, casting one last stoic glare into his eyes, and walks towards the door, stopping at the threshold after taking a few steps. 

“Akuse.” She states as an explanation, but not without fighting with herself just to be able to say it. “Start there next time.”

“Care to elaborate?”

“I do care, actually.” She turns, still at the door’s threshold, so that she can look directly at him once again. “As I told you before… We have more in common than you think.”

“I see…”

Things start to click for Javik, who right now, would start to feel sorry about his previous comment if he was able to recognize such feelings. 

Instead, starts to grow inside of him a new wave of respect for the woman that now stands on the entrance of his room.

“I’ll give it to you, though… You were somewhat right.” She admits, after thinking about it. “Didn’t feel human for the longest time, but… But…”

Her words choke on her throat before they’re able to come out. Nevertheless, they aren’t needed at the end, for Javik already knows and understands them, to the point that he’s able to step forward and put an end to her struggles.

“But..”

“But that wasn’t enough.” He finishes the sentence for her, mirroring the answer she gave him only a few seconds ago.

“Exactly.”

“You’re an interesting subject… Commander Shepard.”

Javik gifts her with the faintest smile she has ever witnessed but, given his record, is more than good enough for her to recognize the change of lane in the prothean’s opinion.

“Glad to know.” She smiles back as she replies.

“Very… Unique.” Despite his choice of words, there’s no hint of mockery in his tone of voice, to Shepard’s surprise, who is waiting patiently to see where this is heading. “No wonder your people choose you to lead them.”

“Thanks…” She replies, with hesitation, knowing there’s a second part to that statement that she isn’t gonna like as much.

“You would not have lasted more than a day in the Empire, though.”

Shepard starts laughing right away, with Javik’s comment caughting her completely by surprise, not expecting something of sorts to come out of the protheans’s mouth.

“Seems probable…” She admits in between giggles, given the whole hypothetical a second though. “Would’ve taken a lot with me in the process, though.”

“Seems probable too.” 

His smile expands just a millimeter, but that is enough to make her feel satisfied about the effect of her comeback. So, after a few seconds of smiling back at him, while mentally celebrating her victory, she nods her head as a goodbye gesture and states it out loud.

“See you around, Javik.”

“Commander.”

Shepard takes the elevator to the crew deck and, as she steps out of it, she sees Garrus, who is leaving Kaidan’s room.

She freezes for a second before her instincts kick in, which desperately tell her to turn around and run away, but that brief moment of hesitation is more than enough for his friend to acknowledge her presence.

“Shep!” He calls her as he hastens his step to reach her as fast as possible. “Have a second?”

“No… You see…”

He doesn’t let her finish.

Before she’s able to refuse his talking invitation, he grabs her by the arm and starts walking towards the poker room.

“It will only be a moment.”

The whole thing happens so fast that Shepard isn’t even able to complain before they get into the lounge and, by the time they’re already there, she is too shocked to know what to say, giving him the chance to break the ice, which he isn’t willing to waste.

“When are you gonna get tired of avoiding me?” He states right away, quoting the same words she said to him a few weeks ago.

There’s a moment of silence, but it’s quickly followed by a laugh.

“Nice one.” She replies, relaxing a little. 

Shepard looks around for a few seconds, taking the opportunity to calm herself, and lets out a big sigh before sitting on the coach completely defeated by the situation.

“Very clever, Vakarian… Using my own argument against me.”

Garrus smiles, or does whatever it is that turians do when they’re happy, and sits in front of her, taking a second before talking again.

“Just… Forget it, Shep. Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen.”

“What about?”

“Wish I knew…” He starts laughing, still replaying their last conversation in his mind. “But I obviously said something that triggered you.”

Shepard starts to scour the room, unable to look directly at his friend.

“...”

“So we can just act like I never did.”

To say she is shocked by his words doesn’t come close to describing Shepard’s feelings but, after putting aside her initial hesitation, she finally musters the courage to start taking an active role in their current conversation. 

“Really?” 

“Yup.”

She laughs a little in disbelief, surprised by Garrus’ approach to this whole situation.

“You don’t wanna know?”

“I sure do… But not if you don't wanna tell me.” She’s about to correct his words, afraid she’s giving the wrong impression about the true reason behind her silence, but he steps ahead, once again, and does it for her. “Or if you aren’t ready.”

“I…”

“And… If you ever change your mind, well… You know where to find me.”

She stares at him for a few seconds, dedicating him a faint smile, before finally being able to reply to his answer.

“...Thanks.” She states, with said smile deepening even more on her face, grateful to see that her friend is willing to give her all the time she needs before she opens up to him. “Means a lot.”

“No problem.” Garrus leans forward and gives her a couple pats on the leg on his way to standing up, stretching a little before heading to the bar. “Want something to drink?”

“Unfortunately… No. We’ll be deployed in less than thirty minutes.”

“Oh.. Sorry for you, then.” He says this as he opens himself a bottle and starts drinking. “Gratefully, I know you won’t pick me to go on this one.”

She looks at him, completely silent, quite surprised by his statement.

“Am I wrong?” He asks, with a big grin on his face.

“No… No you’re not.” She laughs a little and smiles back at him, in awe by the accuracy of his deduction. “How you knew that?”

Garrus goes back to the sofa area, but this time around he sits next to her.

“Come on… You have to go with Tali, it’s her people.”

“There’s another spot on the crew.”

“Yeaaaaah… Right.”

Shepard sighs and slaps him on the arm before pushing him a little in a playful manner.

“Shut up.” She orders.

Unfortunately for her, it’s already too late to stop his words.

“Like you’re not gonna pick Kaidan to go along with you.”

They both start laughing at the same time, and keep doing it for a few seconds, before she stands up, casting an amused look at her friend as she starts talking.

“There’s been missions where I haven’t picked Kaidan to go along with me…” She tries to defend herself from his statement.

“Yeah, I know… But only when it’s back to back to another one and you have to give him time to rest.”

“Hmm…” She complains, mad at herself for not knowing what else to say.

“Am I wrong?” He asks again, with the same big grin back on his face.

“No, you’re not.” She smiles, amused by his comeback. “...Of course you know that too.”

“Well, I’ve been in his place… Back with Cerberus. I couldn’t catch a break unless we had no time to rest in between missions, ironically.” Garrus brings his talon to his head while faking to be affected by the change in her preferences when it comes to choosing a squad member. “I thought you loved, Shepard.”

She laughs, extremely amused by his words..

“God, you’re an idiot…”

“You’re probably right, but you have to stop saying things like that, Shep.” He reprimands her, with a hint of his joking tone still engraved in his words. “You’re becoming quite a bad influence on poor Kaidan.”

“Why? Is he no longer suffering in silence while you and Vega aim at him every stupid comment that you’re able to come up with?”

“Even better… He’s the one making them now.” He states, both proud of him and happy to see Kaidan in his element. “Fearsome thing to behold, to be honest.” He says, tuning back to his half joking tone of voice.

“Good for him…” She takes a moment to think before taking a few steps towards the door. “Speaking of whom, I should go give Kaidan the specs for the next mission… We’re almost there.”

“Yeah, right…”

“What!?” She asks, almost like she doesn’t already know the answer.

“Come on Shep, it’s me… You don’t have to fake it. I know why you’re really going to see Kaidan.”

Shepard just stares at him with an annoyed look, unable to deny his friend’s statement.

“Or now you’re gonna tell me there’s no ulterior motives behind your visit?”

“Well, hell yeah. Of course I have ulterior motives!” She admits right away, almost laughing. “But that doesn’t mean I was lying, though. I intend to give him a report for the mission too.”

“I see.” He smiles back, amused by the honesty in her answer.

Shepard returns his smile and nods, considering this small gesture more than enough to signal her goodbye, and starts walking towards the door.

“Hey, Shep.” He says on her way there, making her stop after a few steps. “This whole Kaidan thing…”

“Yes?” She turns to face him, not knowing at all where this is heading.

“You sure about it?”

She casts him a confused look.

“I thought you weren’t gonna give me the Kaidan talk, Garrus.”

“No, of course I’m not… It was more in the line of a Shepard talk, if you know what I mean.”

Shepard’s jaw drops a little, surprised to see where his friend’s worries lie.

“You are worried about him.”

“Yes.” Garrus admits right away.

“You think I’ll hurt him.”

“I know you’ll hurt him… But I still don’t know how.” He states without hesitation before sighing and looking directly at her. “It’s plain math. When you love someone that much, there’s countless different possibilities to get hurt. I’m just trying to avoid one of them.”

Shepard considers his comment for a second, finally understanding what he’s really trying to imply.

“Soooo… You’re scared that I’m treating this like a port in the storm kind of thing.”

“Here we go again with the idioms…”

Shepard laughs a little, still amused after many years of friendship by any occasion where she needs to explain human argot to her best friend.

“Don’t tell me Vega hasn’t covered that one yet.” She says while smiling. “What a pity.”

“Well, I think I get it based on context.” He replies, after thinking about its meaning for a second. “Never too late to learn something new.”

“Good to know.”

She nods and proceeds to leave the room.

Walks out of it and stands in silence in the hallway, staring at the door of the room situated on the opposite side of the corridor.

“Ahhhh…” She sighs, before turning on her feet and heading once again inside of the lounge.

Garrus, surprised by her sudden reappearance, doesn’t say anything. Instead, he just stares at her while she states what she really needs to get out of her system.

“He’s not.”

She tells him, taking her a few seconds to realize she may need to say share more information for him to understand her.

“A safe port in the storm.”

“Meaning?”

“Meaning…” She takes a second to breathe. “You don’t have to worry about Kaidan.”

“I see.” He replies, now with a sense of relief, happy for both of his friends.

“You can leave that to me.”

They both laugh at her comment and, once again, she nods at him and leaves, although this time around she doesn’t stay frozen outside of the port observation.

With hurried steps, she quickly reaches the opposite side of the hallway and enters, without hesitation, in the room she was staring at only a few minutes ago.

Shepard isn’t surprised to see what she finds once she gets into it.

She’s quite used by now to the vision of Kaidan, sitting in his favorite chair, reading and writing reports of their previous missions, completing with grace and calmness all those tasks that she detests so much to do.

"Hey there." He says as a greeting, taking his eyes from his datapad to cast a loving look at her.

"Hey, Kaidan--Just checking in..."

Reality hits Shepard, and she suddenly feels like it’s been a lifetime since she last saw him, even though it’s been only a few hours since she sneaked out of his room.

"I'm glad.” His smile deepens as she gets closer to him, leaving completely forgotten all the work he was doing just a second ago. “Say, you left without waking me."

She smiles back at him, taking a moment to think, trying to find the appropriate words to express why she did so.

After a few seconds of self reflection, she finally finds her answer.

"Didn't have the heart."

There’s a mixture of both endless worry and deep affection that melts together in between her words, giving her sentence a double meaning that not even she is aware of.

"Aw, thanks, but next time--wake me.” 

Shepard’s body acts on its own, as her hand instinctively reaches for Kaidan’s, searching for the contact that she’s been missing since she abandoned it the previous night in complete silence.

“Fine…” She complies with an almost ethereal tinge in her voice, feeling the pressure of her heart smothering her words as it keeps pounding with the strength of mass relay against her chest.

Kaidan uses his free hand to bring her closer and sits in a more useful position so that he can wrap her arms around her.

“Missed you..” He whispers, completely glued to her, tightening the embrace even more.

Shepard rests her head on top of his, bringing her right hand to his hair so that she can play with it. 

She messes it up a little, combing it different directions for a few seconds before forming a reply to his comment.

“Me too.” She shifts a little and kisses the top of his head before returning to her previous position. “Unfortunately…”

She doesn’t need to say anything else. The mention of that last word is enough to let him know what comes next. 

Kaidan sighs, coming back to their reality, leaning back a few inches so that he can move his head to be able to look at her.

“We need to get ready?”

“Yeah, we’ll be entering quarian space in no time.” 

“What a shame…”

One of his hands starts to move up her body, but she stops it before it’s able to travel too far, taking a step backwards to avoid starting something they do not have the time to finish.

“Kaidan…” She says, half breathless once again, both reprimanding his behavior and begging him to stop for their own sake.

“Sorry.” He stands up and takes a step to close the distance between them, adding to his apology a repentant look. “I couldn’t help it.”

Shepard’s body leans forward a little, pulled once again by the gravity that Kaidan always seems to hold against her.

“I…” She manages to stop herself just in time, placing her hand on top of his chest to ensure she won’t get even closer, despite how much all her soul is asking her to do so. “We…”

After taking a moment to breathe, followed by a sigh, Shepard finally manages to regain some control over the situation and, summoning all the strength she’s able to find, and clearing her throat to speak again, she is somehow able to look up at him and hold his glare.

“We…” She insists, now with a more decisive tone in her voice. “... should be getting ready.”

There’s a moment of silence filling the room after Shepard says this. She looks away, with a cheeky smile forming on her face that immediately catches his attention, making him enjoy the moment way more than he should.

“But I really don’t want to…” She finally adds in between laughs, smiling from ear to ear as she focuses her eyes back at him.

Kaidan starts laughing just a moment after, instinctively surrounding her with his arms and lifting her up from the ground, doing a couple spins while at it.

“Kaidan!” It’s all she’s able to say, or half scream, in complete surprise, before she starts laughing again, holding tight around his body and hiding her face against his neck.

This lasts for a few seconds, in which the tired couple are able to completely forget momentarily that there’s an actual war spreading through the galaxy, or better said: two, thanks to the narrow-mindedness of the top hierarchy of the quarian conclave.

Nevertheless, nothing can last forever and, after their idyllic scene is finally over, they both sight and smile at each other, aware that they need to go back to work no matter how much they don’t want to.

“So… Gear first.” Kaidan says, after coming back to reality, finally focusing on the task at hand. “My weapons are already prepped, so I think I should go change clothes now.”

“Need an extra hand for it?”

“Hmm…” 

Kaidan laughs and coughs at the same time, looking away for a moment while smiling uncontrollably, taking a few seconds to calm a little before rewarding Shepard’s comment with a soft kiss on her forehead.

“Maybe later.” He adds, winning him a deep laugh from Shepard.

“Definitely later.”

And just like that, they go back to their programmed schedule.

The couple walk together to the elevator and get to the shuttle bay in record time, heading directly to the lockers where they store their gear and doing their best to pretend they aren’t aware that Vega is staring at them from afar with a stupid smile on his face.

They help each other, without talking too much, way too used by now to both their respective bodies and armors to be in need of speaking out loud for the other to understand what they need to do.

The ride to the bridge of the ship is also a silent one, especially the few seconds they spend alone in the elevator, almost as if they feared that taking would lead them to tangle around each other once again.

The silence only ends once the door opens after they make it to the combat center, shattering the calm and beautiful atmosphere they shared through all the way before they got there.

Shepard is immediately stopped by one of the lower ranked officers as Kaidan excuses himself and keeps waking forward, dedicating Samantha a smile and a pat on the arm when he goes past her post.

He gets to the other side of the room in record time, allowing him to spend a few seconds to greet Joker and EDI from the threshold of the pilot’s cabin before heading to the door on his left, standing alone in the small room for almost a minute before Shepard joins him.

“Something important?”

“Nah… Bureaucratic stuff, I’ll do it later.” She replies while sitting on the ground, resting her back against the exit door of the Normandy. “Called Tali too, she’s on her way.”

Kaidan smiles, taking a few seconds while his eyes roam through the small empty room before he surrenders, sighs, and sits next to her, instinctively reaching to grab her hand.

“Penny for your thoughts.” He says, entangling his fingers between hers.

“Oh… Believe me.” She replies, raising her head to stare at the ceiling as she takes a deep breath. “You don’t wanna know.”

“I’m not so sure about that.”

Shepard giggles and nudges his arm, shaking her head a couple of times before turning it and shifting her body a little to look better at him

“At least right now…” She smiles at him, unable to keep her feelings to herself. “We need to focus on the mission.”

Kaidan gifts her with a gentle laugh, completely defeated by the way she looks at him, needing a second or two before being able to react to her comment.

“Well then…” His free hand travels to cup her face and, with a slowed and unhurried pace, he leans forward and plants a soft kiss on her lips, keeping the nonexistent distance between them even after said kiss is over. “And later?”

“Hum… ”She agrees right away, not even having to give a second thought to her answer. “Definitely later.”

tyler holt for the character list! if that's alright!

I don't see why you'd come to me for this, since you're clearly more versed in Holt language than me, but of course it's more than alright! Admittedly, I've been re-blogging this sort of thing and waiting for someone to ask me, and at last here it is! So yeah, I'm a bit thrilled.

Anyway:

My favourite thing about them You know, I've always loved this guy, but I never stopped to think about why I really like him. I guess if I had to say, it would be his relationships with his brothers, especially Dale. I've always been a sucker for familial relationships enduring through hard times, but Tyler's relationship with each member of his family is unique. And everything is made even more tragic because these relationships do not persevere throughout the hardship they all go through. No matter what, Dale dies, his body eternally lost in the destroyed motel as it goes up in flames. No matter what, Jay is scarred as a teen, only until Zoe pays him a visit, if she chooses to forgive him. But even after that, he's still alone for the rest of his life. Sharon and Tyler are together at first, but Sharon decides it's best to leave. She's either left alone, or is stuck in a life with a man who loves her, but whom she doesn't love. Tyler is now alone in jail or in a hard life where he must now work for himself, or he's dead. His relationships are all shattered. Tyler's story doesn't end well, and even though it doesn't exactly end with a big, terrible bang, it's really not a good ending. And to make things worse, he's alone. So that's a really interesting part of his character

Least favourite thing about them Tyler doesn't panic all too often, but when he does, he loses his temper easily. He gets mad and exaggerates what he really means, and gets really mean. It's annoying sometimes and sometimes tiring, but everyone has flaws and everyone has to endure their own and others' flaws.

Favourite line "This will all be over when we win. Remember that, and do your part." This can be used in so many situations, namely war. Not that war has anything to do with ADF.

brOTP Vince and Tyler. They're both so similar within their own lives, and their roles within the whole Desert Dream Motel Mistake-Massacre. They may not be bros as in friends or bros at all, but they are parallels of each other.

OTP I don't think I really have an OTP, but I don't really mind the Vince/Tyler ship.

nOTP I don't know. There's not really many ships in this small fandom. But I guess I would never ship something like Joyce/Tyler. That's a recipe for disaster.

Random headcanon I headcanon that Tyler is a very neat and organised guy.

We don't know any friends who show up or anything remotely similar). And there was a text underneath which said, "Give me some time to think and I'll probably come up with something that sounds coherent." Or something like that. oughooogh okay so it's based on a poem by adam oehlenschläger (1779–1850) - or rather, it's the last third of that poem put to music.

the poem's about thor and loke (and thor's two servants, the human children tjalfe and his sister røskva) getting lost and accidentally wandering into hel's domain on their way to jotunheim

and i love this poem so much, because it takes the super interesting lore and figures from norse mythology and imbues it with the drama and emotion of the romance period oehlenschläger wrote it in!

like, loke is the father of hel, and once they all realize they're on course to meet her, he kinda freaks out and wants to leave. but thor gives him this great rousing speech about how he has nothing to be ashamed of wrt her, because she serves and important role and she does it well; she punishes cowards in death, which thor thinks is very noble despite the grimness of her duty.

so they go in, and obviously her spooky domain is described in great detail, and they meet her - this is the point of the poem where the song starts, at all the gnarly descriptions of hel and her punished dead.

and thor is being clever, right, and wants to get on her good side, so he quickly starts yelling at the dead "this is what happens to every woman too afraid to follow me! this is what you get for being cowards in life, for being too afraid to go to battle! wow hel you punish these people so justly, well done"

(my favourite line is, literally, "you were created to tremble, so tremble for all eternity". very stern, i love this romance interpretation of viking-age virtues!)

so they basically ask hel for directions, and she tells them where to go and tells thor to fuck off, since "it blinds [her] to gaze upon the rosy glow of [his] health"

and the poem ends with a small verse about how the walk past hel is so heavy for loke that he has to close his eyes, but she looks at him and sighs heavily.

with all the implications that they're both kinda heartbroken that she's stuck in this nasty hellish place punishing the dead and that both of them kinda lament the familial relationship they don't have.

anyway the poem is super beautiful, and the song is too, even if i wish she'd included more verses - i think something's a bit lost without thor's rousing speech to loke. however! myrkur has such a beautiful voice, and it's really fun to hear all the eerie descriptions of hel and her ghoulish halls sung so prettily :)

There was supposed to be a verse of the song, but instead we heard people screaming and parts of buildings falling. Pavitr quickly took my hand and ran into the alley. He quickly started taking off his clothes, underneath which was a Spiderman costume, while I was looking at what it was from the corner.

-It's some green monster. And it's big. - I said and he was already in the costume.

-I promise you that we will spend the next holiday better.- he said and kissed me on the cheek. He shot his web and swung towards the monster.

People started pushing and pushing each other to disappear from the mutant's sight. In the crowd I saw a girl who was trying to save her mother, whose leg was stuck, from the rubble.

I ran there and tried to help her lift the boulder a little, which I managed to do after severely straining my wrist.

I kinda feel like I've been asked 10 different versions of this question and my answer remains basically the same, she was never bringing SE back if it would damage Caroline and I can't see how it wouldn't. I've seen that quote about the mind invasion thing and straight up I have no idea WTF she is talking about, is she really saying that sleeping beauty spell was something she WANTED??? IT wasn't just the only thing they could do because they refused to kill off Elena or have her leave for good because they wanted her for the series finale? That shit was TERRIBLE, they even mocked it in the musical episode of Legacies TWICE! I also don't think there's as much SE baiting after 5x18 as some people do, like I think people think bait is when Stefan just says Elena's name sometimes or vice versa when the reality is there's maybe five moments that people could read into over 3 seasons that go nowhere.

In general people pay too much attention to interviews, cons, tweets etc. for every quote I see of her blaming Nina there's one of her saying she planned SC since S2. In fact there's a tweet from 2011 where she talks about her plans for SC:

She was giddy in the S4 Podcast wrap she did with EW in 2021 talking about how her plans for Stefan and Caroline could finally come to fruition which is why the romantic hints started that season. The reality is Elena started losing her power to Caroline in S4 because Elena's power came from having both Salvatores obsessed with her but in S4 Stefan started being removed from her and joining Caroline's orbit. That happened because of KC and it made the writers want to give Caroline more attention and more high-cachet men (that is just how this verse works). I do definitely think it's possible that if Klaus wasn't introduced and didn't become such a huge force in the verse that SC could have been very prop-y and that could have been her initial plan. People are always saying how Caroline is Julie's self-insert and what I'm saying here is they're kinda right lol but they don't want to admit Caroline became more important in the verse than Elena.

As far as a S7 with Elena IDK, I think it kind of proves my point that she wanted to put Elena in a coma anyway if Nina wasn't leaving that she didn't care much about her story at that point. I think the S/E/D triangle is only important to TVD so if Nina stayed S7 would have been the last and I kinda think she would have stuck with DE and I think she would have wanted to move Stefan and Caroline to TO, because the S/C/K triangle is the TVDU one not just TVD. If you watch all three shows that's the one that had significant mentions throughout all the shows, that's the one that lingers.

Canon-verse AU where Ene can manifest in the real world (since I'm taking creative liberties here for the sake of my ship) and even becomes intimate with Kuroha. Very angst heavy.

Takes place in an AU setting close to canon, except the only difference is that Ene can manifest in the real world (unlike in canon where she can only interact with the digital world in devices)

Especially with all the time loop resets, you could see this as an AU where Kuroha/Saeru finally manages to figure out how to make Ene able to manifest in the real world as well.

It was kinda inspired by the Copybots of MMBN/EXE (Battle Network: 6) where Iris, a NetNavi (Network Navigator, companion digital AI), interacts with Netto in a Copybot (Android body) in the real world.

KuroEne AU Set-up

KuroEne (Kuroha/Saeru x Ene) is using the HaruTaka (Haruka x Takane) and KonoEne (Konoha x Ene) ships (which are interconnected) as a basis for it.

I imagined that, Kuroha, who keeps memories of previous routes, at some point, started to play around in the routes. He eventually gets to know and bond and spend time with Ene, due to the vast knowledge he carries of previous routes.

Though eventually, Kuroha proceeds with the "Plan" on August 15th to kill everyone in the Mekakushi Dan and make Marry into the new Medusa so she can rewind the world, causing an infinite time loop in which he will be able to live forever.

I imagine Kuroha eventually found a way for Ene to be able to transfer into an android body so she'd no longer have to be stuck in electronic devices like in canon… He even gets intimate with her. Ene hate fucks Kuroha/Saeru (when she finds out about his real identity)

Kuroha has been intimate with Ene before and keeps memories of previous routes. He knows about the context of the Mekakushi Dan, therefore, knows about Ene's past as Takane (and her relationships with Haruka and Konoha)

I think KuroEne has a very unique context that makes their relationship dynamic sooo interesting to think about. It has the most conflict and tension out of all of Takane/Ene's ships due to it being with the series' big bad villain/antagonist who's the main source of conflict and tension in KagePro.

Takane/Ene was in love with her classmate Haruka from 2 years ago. Kuroha is also possessing the body of Konoha (the remade body of Haruka who doesn't share Haruka's memories), and so, has the same face, voice, and body as them.

Ene hates him, but a part of her feels inexplicably drawn to him.

Context

Ok I'm just gonna explain the context of these characters and the setting (just in case it's needed)

Kuroha (Saeru)

Kuroha (クロハ), officially known as The Snake of Clearing Eyes (目が冴える蛇, Me ga Saeru Hebi) or Black Konoha (黒コノハ, Kuro Konoha) when possessing Konoha’s body, is the main antagonist of KagePro who causes the “Tragedy” of the Mekakushi Dan (Blindfold Gang) members.

Kuroha (fandom nickname), or Saeru (true name), is an Eye Ability snake created by the medusa, Azami, due to her wish of wanting to know who she was. He was created even before the world was created, before human civilization even existed.

He tricked Azami into creating the Kagerou (Heat Haze) Daze, a never ending world that swallows up people who die on August 15th. The people with strong desires, who are compatible with Eye Ability Snakes (according to their wishes) return to life to the real world with an Eye Ability.

He is an evil snake that possesses humans' vessels. In every route, he eventually finds ways to possess Konoha's body to kill everyone in the Mekakushi Dan (Blindfold Gang), the main cast, forcing Marry (the granddaughter of Azami, the original Medusa), to turn into her Medusa form and use her powers to rewind the world, because she can't bear to live without her friends.

He retains memories of previous routes (past timelines).

In the context of a KuroEne AU, he knows about Ene's love for her former classmate, Kokonose Haruka, whom she was in love with, and the conflicted feelings she has for Konoha.

Ene (Enomoto Takane)

Ene is a cyber girl and Mekakushi Dan member no. 6. Her true identity is Enomoto Takane.

2 years ago, she was put into a special needs class with her classmate Kokonose Haruka, who she eventually fell in love with and befriended. She was a chronically ill special needs student that had an illness that'd cause her to fall asleep and faint even if she got.

She never manages to tell Haruka how she feels about him before her death. She eventually dies and enters the Kagerou Daze and comes out with an Eye Ability, becoming a pseudo immortal cyber girl.

The people who die and enter the Kagerou Daze (Heat Haze Daze) and get an Eye Ability, gets one that responds to their greatest wish back when they were alive.

It would cause her to fall asleep in random places no matter how much sleep she got. Her human self was more aloof, stand~offish, distanced from others, easily irritable.

Takane wanted a "body that'd never get tired" in response to her chronic illness, so she ended up being reborn as a pseudo-immortal cyber girl, Ene. She lost her human body and got one that never requires sleep.

Kokonose Haruka

Haruka was Takane's classmate and friend, caring and soft-spoken with a cheerful personality. It was heavily implied he also had feelings for her, but had a serious illness that'd cause him to die at a young age.

He truly mourned being unable to spend more time with his friends and innerly resented his situation and wanted to be able to live longer to be with them (and Takane).

Haruka was an artist and created the designs for "Konoha" and "Ene" as their video game personas.

When Haruka died from his illness, he entered the Kagerou (Heat Haze) Daze. The Snake of Awakening Eyes recreated his body to fulfill his wish to have "a strong body to be friends with," it took the form of Konoha, Haruka's video game character.

But Haruka rejected it, realizing that Konoha's body was not the one he truly wished for, so the Snake of Awakening Eyes returned to the real world as Konoha, while Haruka's mind/consciousness stayed trapped inside the Kagerou Daze.

Konoha

Konoha is the Snake of Awakening Eyes in Haruka's remade body, but he doesn't have Haruka's soul (or memories).

He is Mekakushi Dan member No. 9. Gentle and aloof.

Ene remembers Konoha as the game character Haruka made. She recognizes him, thinking of him as Haruka at first, and expresses her feelings and memories of 2 years to him. But he tells her that he doesn't know her, causing her to be distraught.

Ene refuses to think of him as the same as Haruka and calls him an impostor instead.

She thinks of him as an acquaintance/friend but can't help but care for him, even though she thinks of him as different than Haruka…

So this is how this AU started

This is gonna sound crazy guys but I kinda wanna draw a R-17 (sexually implicit) KuroEne AU comic in canon-verse (but unlike in canon, Ene can manifest in the real world cuz I'm taking some creative liberties) where KuroEne hate fuck but it's Ene on top

In canon, Ene can only interact with the cyber world in electronic devices. But a lot of Ene fanarts (including from official artists) and KonoEne, KuroEne, and Ene ship fanarts in general draw Ene being able to manifest in the real world and interact with others for the sake of ship art

Ik that in most of KuroEne's ship arts it's Kuroha on top (Understandable Ig since Ene seems very… bottom ngl), but come on guys… This mf should get pegged too. Come see what it's like, bitch ass snake

Well if I draw it, nothing's gonna be showing, it's just gonna be clothed intimacy cuz it just looks sexier to me imo

Oh yeah, I want to talk more about my KuroEne ideas since I've been having lots of thoughts. So I can ramble about my ideas (and what I forgot to post before), re: Ene tops Kuroha and he lets her out of curiosity.

Also I think I'm just gonna type Kuroha in my JP notes cuz I swear if I have to type 黒コノハ（クロハ） -> Kuro Konoha (Kuroha) every single time…

Kuroha: Take a good look… at the face of your precious Haruka, whom you love so much… (*) Kuroha: Yoku miro… Omae ga aishite yamanai, taisetsu na Haruka no kao wo…)

In the literal sense, this could be translated as "The face of your precious Haruka, who you'll always/forever love…" But I chose the cleaner TL ofc

I added the JPN underneath to practice (and cuz I have mutuals who are learning JP so it'd be helpful!) Also I feel like reading the JP next to it honestly adds? English is so fucking boring as a language to me, and reading the JP gives you a much better sense of the characters' different speech styles and variety.

As said before, everyone in English just sounds the same, or like Shakespeare (using more poetic formal English), or a cowboy. I got to include nuances with the furigana too, since Takane/Ene refers to Haruka with the katakana version of his name ハルカ (Haruka)

The dialogue is honestly not very NSFW, like only a couple of the lines are sexually suggestive but I put a warning cuz of the context LOL. Irt to "I never got to see this side of you before" he means it when seeing the kind of determined expression she has when she tops him

Oh yeah the only reason why I don't space out my Notion docs is cuz it wastes space 😭 I can fit more lines in my screenshots if I don't do that. I was considering highlighting the romaji to differentiate things more

As said before, I skimmed some chapters in the manga and he uses Boku (僕) in Outer Science, and Ore (俺) in Manga Route 2 (at least the chapters that I checked). So I just went with Ore/Omae pronouns for him in this

I might fix for grammar adjustments of the JP lines later. I'm still learning so I'm always adjusting/adding to my ideas

Since Kuroha can use Awakening Eyes in Konoha's body to completely rebuild the body and change his appearance, he could definitely change to Haruka's exact appearance if he wanted to, something that would be absolutely devastating to Ene… who still holds onto her love and feelings for Haruka. I wasn't sure if I wanted to write a scene like that (so it's just Kuroha's usual appearance), but the idea came to me

Kuroha/Saeru remembers previous routes… And so he uses that knowledge to his advantage. In this kind of KuroEne AU setting, he would have intimate knowledge of her biggest deepest secrets, feelings, and insecurities/vulnerabilities.

In this case he points out her inability to be honest about her feelings, and how she often runs away from having to confront them. She gets frustrated when he points out (exposes) her tendency to be annoyed by and deny her feelings.

And that's why he gets so amused by the "There is nothing between us" line cuz she says to create distance between him and her. It obviously isn't true considering the situation of intimacy, but it shows how far her tendency to deny her feelings goes. So then he says, "Tell me who you're doing this with?"

So it's like "You [Ene] can no longer say 'I'm doing this because I have to,' because no, you don't have to be doing this right now"

I'm honestly tempted to add a few lines like this:

Ene: Why isn't this Konoha-- or Haruka right now…!?

Kuroha: (You're so foolish. You're the one who wants it. That's why you're doing this in the first place, no?)

And when Ene asks about his "In all the previous routes" comment, she asks if he's lying considering how he twists words, but he goes like, "Yes, we have been in this situation before"

"XX" is based off the fact that there's an unknown (XX) number of routes aside from the main ones (Music Route, Light Novel Route, Manga Route, Anime Route)

I forgot specifics of his speech pattern tbh but he switches to more polite forms in the last line, where he says he remembers their instances of intimacy in previous routes, "If you wish, I can tell you all about [those times]"

Since he is the being that "feeds on peoples' wishes" and works towards fulfilling its current Master's wish, but makes sure the wish is never completely fulfilled.

Debating whether or not I should write him listing them off…

But ngl I kinda want a scene where after they're finished, Ene is flustered like "WHAT DID I JUST DO???" but also acts standoffish tsun like "We are done here!!!"

"Leaving so soon? That's so cold, Ene~ Stick around. This game is far from over. I won't let the fun end that easily."

I was thinking about this for the past few weeks but imo what makes Kuroha ships in canon-verse harder to deal with compared to the rest of my faves, other than what I mentioned before (*) is that Kuroha/Saeru fundamentally has a power imbalance with any character he's paired with, due to his character setup and role.

(*) = How canon-verse Kuroha/Saeru almost completely lacks humanity and soft traits and primarily exists as the series' big bad and provide sources of tension and conflict by killing the Dan

Kuroha/Saeru inevitably has a power imbalance over every character he's paired with, so you have to tread carefully with his ships. It can definitely still be done tho. I do try to alleviate things as much as possible, though, like how he lets her (Ene) have a form of control in intimacy.

(Anyways the Kuroha and Azami LN cover by Sidu is so good??? Sidu has such a godly aesthetic sense)

The Snake of Clearing Eyes (Me ga Saeru Hebi) seems to hold power over "knowledge" itself. He was with Azami before the world was even created, as one of her Eye Ability snakes (one of Azami's snakes).

So. This guy has knowledge of everything from the birth of civilization. And he remembers previous "routes" (timelines) too. Therefore… For all of the Mekakushi Dan members, he knows their most vulnerable secrets, how they died, what their greatest wish was (what made them compatible with an Eye Ability in the first place), etc.

Even if he relinquishes control in intimacy (in AU settings, I imagine he does this mainly out of curiosity), he's still the main mastermind pulling the strings (in terms of the plot), so he still has a leg up/advantage over anyone he's paired with

Kuroha/Saeru inevitably has a power imbalance with every character that he could be paired with due to his role as the big bad villain that kills the Mekakushi Dan by overpowering and outsmarting them through his wide degree of knowledge and manipulation tactics.

He has an advantage over them in every single way (physically, in power, and in terms of knowledge). Saeru was created when the medusa Azami first wanted to know who she was (he was born from her first, original, strongest desire).

He was there even before Azami, the original Medusa and Marry's grandmother, first created the world with Combining Eyes (the queen Snake that Marry now possesses), so he's fucking ancient, and so, he carries the knowledge from the very beginning of civilization to the modern age. He also remembers previous routes.

So. This guy has knowledge of everything from the birth of civilization. And he remembers previous "routes" (timelines) too. My mutual @/kichelmi on Insta was talking about this with me, that it fits really well with them to make Ene more dominant and assertive in the ship, because it's not like he can't have it (control), but that with his knowledge of the time loops, he wants to see her confident self take the reigns and see what's similar and different from previous routes.

And yeah! The fact that he lets Ene have more control in intimacy and be more assertive/dominant seems like it would also play up to his ego, because they both know that he could turn the tables at any moment. He gets to watch and experience what it's like to have someone else take the lead and see how they'll act, and Ene can be so predictably unpredictable that it keeps things fun for him.

That's why I think making Ene more assertive and dominant in the ship does alleviate the power imbalance that Kuroha/Saeru inevitably has in his ships. It also does balance things out more.

I was hoping I could make this one longer, but I put a whole lot of thought into what I was able to add. I'm hoping to add more if I think of anything

since this one had a lot of specific (or vague) reasoning behind it that might not make sense on their own I thought I would give a little explanation for each (under the cut)

I felt like a lightbulb went off in my brain when i thought of "stay strange" for this playlist. it's such a cute and upbeat song that I just love for her. everything about it is perfect for sweet old anzu

evening out with your girlfriend by fall out boy fits her on an aesthetic level (the sound is young, fun, and energetic, along with the album having some of her color pallet) so I felt the world's not waiting for us and parker lewis can't lose would by nice additions. the world's not waiting kinda reminds me of her minisode ("this might just be a waste of time / there's no one I'd rather waste all my time with than all my best friends"), and parker lewis has a theme of misspeaking or having your ideas and suggestions misunderstood ("I've got a big mouth, maybe you could handle shutting it up" and "in the mean time, I'm just talking with my shoes / converse with my converse, atleast they hear a word I say")

she's a handsome woman by panic! at the disco, along with I took your picture and right words by cults fall into the category of "I can't give a reason this fits her personally, but it's a vibe she might enjoy"

secret shame as a band reminds me of anzu a lot in an artistic sense (their lead singer does very bright looks at their shows, with clown-esque makeup), and I decided crystal kind could somewhat fit her? I associated it to what the aftermath of ryuus sudden departure could've been like as it would probably have a major impact on her to lose her mentor so suddenly. I'm slightly more confident in the addition of accelerate, also by the same band. the verses recite a thought process that has a lot to do with the fear of being judged by others, which is one of the first things anzu expresses to us. seriously though, go check this band out! they're awesome

flowers grow out of my grave by dead mans bones also hits that category of little reasoning beyond I think she might like it. it's a cute little song that I think would make her happy

I felt like my typical artists were failing me on finding anzu approved songs, so I went to some indie artists I like. hush by attack dog stuck out, once again hitting the topic of anzu's thought process post ryuus departure ("too many melodies revolve within me / I just shut my eyes, wait for it to subside"). she seems to be the type to push suspicions or troubling thoughts out (mostly seen how she handles justifying the suspicions of ryuu already having a uniform that would be perfect for her)

by this point, I'm scratching the absolute bottom of the barrel. we're talking searching through my 2020 playlist. I found this one song I heard an artist play in a coffee shop like 4 years ago, "diamond girl" by courtlyn louise. I can slightly relate this to anzus fear of being judged as strange... maybe? maybe you can consider this to how she might view her friend for the minisode (who honestly seems a tad bit judgemental and I would not be shocked if this somewhat fuels her insecurity I've mentioned). like I said, we're getting a little desperate here.

cannot believe it took me this long, but I finally put it together to check some of the cures softer stuff. jumping on someone else's train made the playlist for the trend of non conformity and embracing doing things differently. also picked underneath the stars as a song she'd enjoy, and to fill a slot that often comes up in character playlists for a song that you can associate with your favorite ship of them.

and with that, thats about all I could think of. apologies that this one is shorter than the rest, it appears my music taste doesn't have much overlap with how I perceive anzu which was kinda expected. this was really fun though and it made me think of parts of anzus character I never really did before ^u^

note: any songs that I associate with ryuu that have lyrics that imply romanticism are not at all intended in that way, I do not ship them. I use songs that may have been written with some romantic intent but are not inherently love songs to fit platonic or otherwise non romantic dynamics in my own life and occasionally on character playlists just because it is near impossible to find songs that have absolute 0 hint of possible romance
