Reading Dead Silence by Kimberly Derting
And that girl needs a tracker on her. Apple tag that child please!
I want to see the future her where they’ve stopped trying to get her to call them and just give her a tracker she can activate when she’s on the track of a killer. Or each person has given her some sort of gift that has a lil tracker in it.
Jay’s would be in the wedding ring
Rafe’s would be an anatomically correct heart bracelet or earrings
Hell Chelsea would probably sneak one in a jacket or shoes
It’d be great. And she’d be trained to shoot a gun but uses a stun gun or tranq bullets so she doesn’t accidentally get another imprint cuz Rafe can’t ALWAYS pull out hearts no matter how much they’ve bonded.

This is really funny actually, I had a book that I HATED SO MUCH, I quit reading it. To this day, it’s the only book I’ve ever rage quit. It was “the Taking” by Kimberly Derting, and 13 year old me hated it so much, I left a very angry review for it on goodreads in the middle of 8th grade English class. I actually really want to reread it now that I’m older. I wanna see if it was really as terrible as I remember it, and maybe laugh a little. So this post reminded me to pick up a copy from the library lmao
Nobody understands the bond between a girl and the mediocre book she read when she was 13 years old.

@myhiraeth said 📖 for a one liner from a book on my shelf for mbege
against her best efforts, she's already allowed him to get on her nerves today. she's blaming that on the stress of finals looming on the horizon. finals that she needs to focus on passing. that and it might have something to do with the fact that her mom called again to see if she was coming home over break and she'd had to invent some pathetic excuse to avoid it. willing her tone to remain cool, unaffected, she shrugs as she looks away from the note. " joke about whatever you want, it's not your fault you're not funny. " it comes out harsher than she meant it, but she doesn't bother apologizing, just goes back to writing her draft with a renewed vigor.

Viví Loves Science by Kimberly Derting is the latest in a series that includes the picture books Libby Loves Science, Cece Loves Science, and several early reader books. I adore these books for how they normalize and celebrate girls and POC in STEM, and their genuine excitement as they explore science in hands-on experiments and experiences. In this title, Vivi is overjoyed to go to the aquarium with her class. When she wonders how fish can float when they swim, the guide introduces her class to a marine biologist, who explains and shows, using a balloon, how a fish's swim bladder works to increase and decrease their density so they can float and sink. The book, like the others in its series, provides instructions on the back for how kids can do the experiment themselves! Love the inquiry, collaboration, and fascination with science in this book! #earlyreaderbooks #earlyreaders #icanread #weneeddiversebooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensbiographies #girlsinsteam #girlsinstem #librariansofinstagram #schoollibrarian #teacherlibrarian #teachersofinstagram #primaryschool #primaryteacher #diversebooksmatter #childrensbooks #steambooks #marinebiologist #marinebiology https://www.instagram.com/p/CnQX8m5MqKl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

** = I owned two copies of Enders, one with the dust cover and one without. I’m donating the one without a dust cover
^ - I don’t own a physical copy of Dracula, but if I did, I would’ve opted to keep it.
^^ - I don’t own a physical copy of these three, and if I did, I would’ve only kept them so that I could have the entire series with me, not because I actually enjoyed them very much.

Reading The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting
And for some odd reason I can only see Jay as a dorky round glasses boy so all his actions are contrasted and I actually really love it.
Dude is smooth
Also me at the end
