Hey chooms, not new to Cyberpunk 2077 or tumblr but I *am* new to joining part of a community for the game. Decided to do another playthrough and I'm afraid I'm in deep. OTP: Caught In Your Orbit - Brief Explanation on our Alternate Universe

I realize from the way the comic panels start off, and from what fans know of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, that there will be some questions on things you don't see. For example why is there no cyberspace Johnny in all of this? So this post is to clarify a few key details about this Universe along with wanting to give fans of the OTP a bit of character backstory.

To start things off:

Johnny is 100% dead. He did not survive the bombing of Arasaka Tower and his mind was never copied onto a shard. Reason for this is so our V isn't on borrowed time and we didn't have to try and RP his malware ass

Even though there is no Relic to steal, Jackie still unfortunately perishes during a high-paying gig around the same time the original gig would have happened.

Kerry meets V through Rogue's recommendation rather than V paying a visit to Kerry on Johnny's request.

This world does include other OC appearances but overall all OC's, including Nick and Virgil, have their own sperate timelines/worlds. What happens in this one doesn't need to accurately match the original world they come from, including NPC's like Kerry, Rogue and Dino.

I might be missing a few others but more will be explained as the story progresses.

Character Backstories! (or at least what you need to know for now)

Kerry Eurodyne

Most of Kerry’s story is the same as in-game. Kerry’s career path still goes from being a Samurai band member to a Rock Star Soloist. He gets married, divorced, and has that issue with UsCracks and his manager. In our world, we have expanded his character to be more of a family man where he would fret over you skipping meals or not sleeping properly. His biggest regrets in life are losing Johnny when he should have held on, and choosing his career over his kids when Louise blackmailed him. Kerry misses both dearly and he hates himself for not being strong enough when it mattered most.

Virgil Avara

Our official “V” in the story and @sammysilverdyne OC. Corpo-born, Virgil grew up in a tough environment that pushed him to succeed, where only the strong would survive and the weak would perish. Luckily though, Virgil never lost touch with the compassion and mercy within his heart and with the help of his best friend Jackie, left the Corpo life behind. From there the story plays out the same, minus how Jackie dies, and after Jackie’s death Virgil goes into a long period of mourning. It's not until the rent comes due that Virgil finally starts working again but strictly as a solo player, never taking on a partner even if it would make the job that much easier.

Nicolas B

Nicky first appeared in Kerry’s life back when Samurai was just a back-street band. He was their on-call roadie, taking care of their equipment and handling other day-to-day tasks before they signed on with Universal. They didn't meet back up again until Nancy's trial. During their time apart, Nick had become a hired mercenary, specializing in infiltration along while hustling his own custom tech for extra cash. He was the one who introduced Rogue to Johnny, and it was him Johnny first went to when the Rockerboy wanted to launch an attack on Arasaka. After the Arasaka Tower bombing, Nicolas disappeared without a trace and was presumed dead by those who knew him… that is until 50 years later when Virgil catches him skulking around Kerry’s villa. It is not revealed yet where he was during that time nor why he appeared now, but it is revealed that he goes by a new identity. B, a notorious arms dealer in Night City's underground market.

PT 2 PT 1

Unfortunately, life did get worse.

All of it was ripped from him in a matter of seconds.

The windshield of his old car vanished, and instead warped into the towering window panels that overlooked Night City.

Kerry shot up on his leather couch, diverting his gaze all over the open space to catch a glimpse of anybody- but it hit him. It was just a dream, a fond memory. He was alone again in his villa, sitting in haunting silence. The emptiness of it all hit him intensely. The hole he tried to fill, to distract, was torn open again, causing his heart to ache, and his stomach to turn. Thoughts of that old raven haired Rockerboy flooded his brain again.

What an empty void, to have so much you’d want to say to a person, so much you’d like to scream at them, cry to them, speak to them- knowing you never could ever again. What frustration to have unsolved emotions, unanswered questions, a twisting knot within that’ll never be loosened- yet they’ll never know. Life, and it’s cruel ways, remind you that you’ll never be able to share your new experiences with this person.

This was Kerry’s racing, rambling mind every day this past week. He had highs and lows, some months where he thought he was for sure moving on, only for it to all crash down on his soul again.

He rubbed his tired eyes and leaned forward in his seat, resting his arms on his thighs. It was coming, and the old Rockerboy knew it. The wave of emotions. It hit him like a tornado- whisking him up, and throwing him about. He was furious at Johnny, the way he mistreated him, The words he spoke to him, the way he filled him with fear numerous times. And yet, their good times almost outweighed the bad. It was all Eurodyne focused on. He didn’t care if he was being shoved, shouted at, or even ignored. He longed to be in the mans presence again, to smell that horrid mix of cologne and cigarettes that seemed to leak from Johnnys skin.

But perhaps it wasn’t just Silverhand. Perhaps, it was the past in general. The laughs, the banter, the gigs. At the time, sleeping on the floor of a dingy motel surrounded by empty bottles and blood stained walls was a nightmare. But now, it felt like home- hauntingly filling his mind and body with a gut wrenching feeling of homesickness.

Though Kerry walked down his wide spread hallways, surrounded by an almost similar mess, it wasn’t the same comfort. Weights, a surfboard, art, even an old drum kit, he was reminded of all the hobbies he had given up on- a feeble attempt to fill the hole within his soul.

How could he, so famed and spoken of, bombarded with fanmail and phone calls, still feel so alone? Lounging in venues filled wall to wall with people, and yet, he still felt an empty room.

New friends were shallow, old friends lost. He longed for the connection he had with Samurai. He craved the feeling of youth, the thrill of tours, late night parties and stepping over broken glass back stage.

I could have that. I could do that all over again, if I just wrote a god damn.. good song.

He was crippled with self doubt.

Data shards reminded him of his failures, his struggle to climb out of the rut he was in. The inability to move out of Johnny’s shadow. Kerry was running in circle, after circle. And with every loop, he felt more shattered inside.

He would find himself taking a heavy seat at the piano set in the center of his living space, adorned with silken blankets, magazines and empty bottles of alcohol. A faint light shone down on him, revealing the particles drifting in the air.

Kerry’s eyes scanned the keys for a moment, his shoulders tensed, before he dropped his hands down on the cold black and whites- causing a single, eerie tune to echo through the quiet home. He needed to fill the void of empty silence that overwhelmed him. Though, he longed for the sound of bass bumping against the backstage wall. The muffled voices of Samurai bantering about late night snacks and who was sharing beds.

Nothing. Not even all the eddies in Night City could occupy this hole. He was fading away, and a glance over at his dust-caked old guitars proved it to him.
