Boys and girls in America have such a sad time together; sophistication demands that they submit to sex immediately without proper preliminary talk. Not courting talk — real straight talk about souls, for life is holy and every moment is precious.

FÖTUS - FUTURE IS BRIGHT!
via Kerouac Magazine (circa 1997 - 2002)
Japanese cyberpunk brand FÖTUS (フェトウス) found its genesis in the 90’s rave scene. Immediately adored by DJ’s and musicians such as Miyavi, Pierrot, and DJ SiSeN, and their fans were quick to follow suit.
The brainchild of self-taught fashion designer Masahiro Saito in 1997, FÖTUS was less of a business venture than an artistic statement. Unsatisfied with the monotony of Japanese fashion trends, Saito strived to create something that stood out, and made people ask questions. “Not to get rich. I only wanted to make something special,” he claimed in an interview in 2003.
Saito made use of polyester, latex, colourful plastic and avant-garde accessories, often centred around neon colours and futuristic concepts. Utilizing unconventional designs and shapes, he transformed neo-futurism and cyberpunk elements into a new look, transmuting the wearer into something almost extra-terrestrial. The name “FÖTUS” is derived from the German word for fetus. As the name suggests, the brand celebrates the birth of something new; the emergence of expectations and hope for the future.
The brand stopped releasing and closed down sometimes after 2005, however, various pieces from the FÖTUS collection still exist. Due to the ephemerality of the brand, it is rare to find a piece in mint condition, and asking prices are extremely high.

having a crush on a vaguely communist girl while writing a paper on the beat poets is so cute for me like let’s run away and have a Kerouac-esque road trip! Let’s be bums babe!

The silence is so intense that you can hear your own blood roar in your ears but louder than that by far is the mysterious roar which I always identify with the roaring of the diamond wisdom, the mysterious roar of silence itself, which is a great Shhhh reminding you of something you've seemed to have forgotten in the stress of your days since birth.

“The ghosts of those I love haunt me in the sorrowful stillness, not leering, capricious ghosts, but loving ghosts who touch my lonely brow with tender care.”
