Whumptober day 10
Alternative prompt 1- losing control
Ciel stared in horror at the huge, shattered bell in pieces on the ground. Anduin had been underneath the bell before it shattered. She couldn't see him anymore.
She hadn't been able to do anything. Nobody even knew she was there. Ciel hated being dead.
"Sweetie, we should go." Kelyth said behind her.
The young ghost clenched her fists and set her jaw. "No."
Kelyth put a hand on her shoulder. "It won't do either of us any good to stay here. There's nothing we can do, and you're only going to get hurt more if you keep watching."
The Kyrian tried so hard to keep her daughter safe while her body healed, but Ciel's insistence on following Anduin everywhere often caused emotional distress. Kelyth didn't think of herself as very smart, but she knew that wasn't always a good idea.
Ciel looked at Cherwine. "You set up a soul-bond between Cherwine and I, right? We're connected now?"
Kelyth nodded. "Yes, that's how you're healing. Why?"
Ciel stomped over to Cherwine, and stared up at her. The night elf didn't respond. But then again, she didn't respond to the living either, in her current state.
Ciel grabbed Cherwine's hands and yanked herself into Cherwine's body.
"Ciel no, wait!" Kelyth wasn't fast enough to stop Ciel from possessing her soul-bond's body.
Cherwine's face moved for the first time in years. It was contorted with rage as she screamed, "You killed him! You killed Andy!!!"
Everyone else whipped around to stare at her. Cherwine/Ciel shrieked and flung fire at the Mogu that had shattered the bell.
"What in the world is that?!?!?" One person yelled.
"It's not Cherwine!" Varian yelled back.
Ciel kept throwing fire all over the place, not aiming at all as she screamed.
"YOU KILLED ANDY! I'LL KILL YOU ALL!!!"
Black tendrils with pale glowing spots started climbing up her long legs. Ciel didn't notice, so absorbed in her rage.
The Sha climbed all the way up her, engulfing Cherwine's body, making her spout huge claws and a giant monstrous mask covering her head.
"YOU WILL ALL DIE IN FLAMES!!!" She roared in an unnatural, three-tone voice. Varian could hear Cherwine's voice, despite not hearing it for years. The Sha voice was obvious enough. And then he finally recognized the voice that had been coming out of Cherwine this whole time.
The voice of a young girl that had died years ago. The voice of Ciel, Anduin's childhood best friend.
"Contain the Sha! Stop it!" A Pandaren voice called.
Several adventurers lept into action, restraining the night elf with human eyes. A Shado-pan Pandaren stepped forward, and with a few swift movements, drove the Sha out.
The night elf woman was kneeling in the circle, bound and sobbing.
"They killed him... they killed Anduin...."
Varian stepped forward. "Ciel?" He asked cautiously.
She raised her head, green human eyes staring at him rather than golden elven ones. "They killed him. I had to do something."
Varian kneeled down in front of the circle. "He's not dead, Ciel. He's going to be okay." He kept an eye at the healers that had dragged Anduin out from under the bell, and were working quickly to make sure he did live.
Ciel sniffed. Cherwine's hands were bound, she couldn't wipe at her borrowed face. "He is?"
Varian nodded.
"I'm sorry." Ciel said quietly.
She could see out of the corner of her eye, Kelyth walking towards her and holding out a hand. Ciel reached back with her own, ghostly hand and left Cherwine's body.
She stood in front of her mother, head down and hands together in shame.
"Do you see now why I wanted us to leave?" Kelyth asked. Ciel nodded in return.
Varian sighed as Cherwine's face went flat and emotionless again, still messy. He undid the restraints, and the rogue stood. An empty shell again. Waiting for orders.

Escigos tilted her head to the side, she was unable to tell if Kelyth was being serious or not. Mortals were strange like that.

Ciel character profile
Female human mage
Daughter of Medivh, Khadgar, and Kelyth (another oc)
She specializes in fire magic, but has picked up lots of little tricks from every other class.
Appearance: 5'2, curvy, hip-length brown hair, green eyes. She is intersex, and has a functioning penis but no testicles, and some more body hair than usual.
Personality: she is very expressive, and generally doesn't have a "middle ground". Most of the time she is very happy, bouncy, and giggly. But she does have quite the temper, and can get very angry very quickly. Ciel adores puns and wordplay, which she got from her father. She is a quick learner, and reads a lot of books, asking unusual questions.
I kind of have two backstories for her, the generic one that she would have if she was actually in the game, and the "canon" one I have that uses my other ocs.
The "generic" backstory:
At the end of Wrath of the Lich King, the player would get a quest to go to Dalaran and they would have a short quest chain that would lead them to getting an adventuring apprentice in the form of an 8 year old girl.
The player would be able to teach their apprentice various abilities depending on their class, spec, and professions, however most of her spells would be fire mage spells.
Ciel, the players apprentice, would say things depending on their area, the quests, and absolutely the dungeons and raids. She would be a near-constant companion to the player all throughout Cataclysm.
Once they got to a certain point, the player would end up seeing a cutscene where Ciel, now age 11, would get killed by a mob.
The player would then get a short quest chain where they bring her body back to her father Khadgar in Dalaran.
Fast forward to Warlords of Draenor. About halfway through the expansion, the player gets a pop-up quest of them getting an urgent feeling about Ciel. They go talk to Khadgar, he opens up a portal to Dalaran for them, they go to her grave and just start digging. They know to do this because they are psychic.
Turns out that Ciel was actually in a coma and not dead for those several years. She goes to Stormwind to have some R&R and catch up with everything that's happened on Azeroth while she was out of commission. She reunites with her childhood best friend Anduin, and a couple months later (with the encouragement of Genn Graymane, the meddler), they get married.
The "canon" backstory:
Most of it is the same, but with the player character being Cherwine, my main, a female night elf rogue. Cherwine and Ciel became very close over the years they traveled together, and they saw each other as sisters. Cherwine was devastated after Ciel died, and became very strange afterwards. She would still go adventuring, still follow orders and fight, but she would do it all robotically. She never spoke, never emoted. And during WoD, when the "pop-up quest" happened, she basically just jerked awake and ran to Khadgar, demanded to know where Ciel was, and dug up her grave with her bare hands and pulled her out, all whilst Khadgar was just standing there going "wtf."
Later Cherwine noticed that there was a brown streak of hair in the midst of her normal purple. And Ciel had a streak of purple in her long brown hair. As it turns out, along the way of Cherwine and Ciel becoming "sisters" they had actually soul-bonded, and it was the soul bond that was keeping Ciel alive and healing her through those years.
At the end of BFA, Ciel gives birth to a son that she and Anduin name Bolvar Varian Wrynn, and at some point she will have twin girls named Tiffin Jaina Wrynn and Kelyth Cher Wrynn, and then after than a boy named Medivh Khadgar Wrynn, and a afab child named Katherine Aerin Wrynn.
She is kidnapped and taken to the Maw/Torgast along with her husband, however she breaks free and basically just starts lurking about the tower like Tyrande, searching for Anduin. She sets her chains on fire and uses them as weapons.
Will update as more patches come out.
Post 9.1 update:
Ciel's anger has practically spiraled out of control, she is willing to do practically anything to get Anduin back. She finally leaves Torgast with the player at the same time as the Runecarver.

Favourite Relationships (Platonic or Romantic): Kelyth and Vex or Beau and Jester? Grog and Vex or Fjord and Jester? Kelyth and Tary or Beau and Molly? Grog and Tary or Fjord and Molly? Percy and Tary or Vax and Gilmore?
Kelyth and Vex or Beau and Jester?
Oh boy! I love them both so much? But I’m partial to Beau and Jester because two lonely girls who grew up isolated finding an unlikely friendship in each other is my jam
Grog and Vex or Fjord and Jester?
Fjord and Jester, obviously. Though Grog and Vex are super underappreciated.
Kelyth and Tary or Beau and Molly?
As much as I LOVE Beau and Molly’s rapport, I gotta go with Keyleth and Tary because he gave her all the reverence and respect she deserved and even if the rest of VM (Vax especially) were super supportive of her, it was awesome to see someone from outside come in and be so vocal about how cool and awesome she is.
Grog and Tary or Fjord and Molly?
Both awesome dynamics we didn’t get quite enough of but I’d go with Fjord and Molly because I love how they never quite got to trust each other? Like, they were both liars sleeping in the same room every night and bullshitting each other from the very first day to the last. Their banter (like Molly yelling for Fjord when he first used blink and then getting revenge shoving him into the water) was hilarious though surprisingly rash, and yet, in the end, Molly died trying to save Fjord and the others and Fjord has carried his memory in his sword as one of kindness and friendship... it’s fascinating.
Percy and Tary or Vax and Gilmore?
Oh god, both are wonderful and heartbreaking, I don’t think I can choose, though I am weak for the tinkering bros geeking out together and, in the end, it was less painful and more inspiring. Also, Percy would’ve totally BANGED that if his heart didn’t already belong to another.

Vax and Vex will always be the Godtier Sibling Relationship, Vex and Tary were just SO cute, I am in LOVE with Fjord and Caduceus’s Constant Side Eye Relationship, GOD IM SUCH A FOOL FOR BEAUYASHA, and Caduceus and Nott seem like they’re going to have a REALLY interesting dynamic (plus Small and Tall is always so fun)

Oh wow Kelyth is me channeling literally all my gifted kid trauma lol. Like. She could do a whole bunch of magic already, so her teachers assumed she knew how she was doing it, and how she was doing different things. So she never got a foundation to understand how more complicated things worked. And then her teachers assumed that any time she didn't know the answer to a question that she was mouthing off and would humiliate her in front of the class. So Kelyth started mouthing off on purpose so she wouldn't feel as embarrassed.
Came as a huge shock to her when Medivh actually wanted to know what her answer was to something and wouldn't take her snark.

Anduin sighed, rubbing his forehead. "We might have to keep everyone in the Keep for the time being. Ciel, where are Kelyth and Tiffin?"
(Open starter! Feel free to respond!)
"Your majesty! Look out!"
Anduin whipped his head around just in time to see a bolt of arcane light rushing toward him, moving so quickly that he barely had enough time to blink before it hit him. A dozen, if not more, shots of counterspell ricocheted through the air, though none hit its target before he was sent flying back into a nearby pillar.
Screams filled the marketplace, commoners, merchants, and nobles alike all running for cover. The captain of the guard ordered his men to fan out and find the source as Anduin coughed the dust from his lungs.
Peering down at his hands, far more wrinkled with age than they were just moments ago, fear gripped his heart. "What in the world...?"

This baby didn't cry when they came into the world. Oh they waved their little fists, looked around urgently, and made a couple little noises but they didn't scream.
There was a sigh of relief from their mother as she sat against a tree, both from the quiet and from finally getting the baby out.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" Kelyth asked.
Khadgar paused, looking at the baby in confusion. "Um.... let's go with girl."
"What?"
He showed her the baby.
"Ah. Right, girl it is then, I guess." Kelyth reaches out and holds her newborn daughter close to her chest.
"Hello, Ciel. Welcome to the world."
Khadgar looked around at the sound of rustling in the undergrowth around them, and faint shouts in Orcish. He stood from where he had been kneeling in front of his wife, and grabbed his staff.
"I think we have orcs coming. We have to move." He said. The young/old mage moved as fast as he could to pack their things back onto the horse, wincing as his bones creaked.
Kelyth's smile fell as she looked around too. She held Ciel a little closer.
"Khadgar. I'm not going to make it." She said, tone serious and face determined.
"What? No no no no no no." He knelt down in front of her again, examining her. "You're not bleeding a lot, your color is fine, you aren't showing any signs of dying in childbirth, you're fine you're going to live, let's go!"
Kelyth put a hand on Khadgar's shoulder. "Khad, listen to me." She spared a glance towards where the sounds of approaching orcs were getting louder. "I can't ride the horse. I don't know if I can walk, but I sure as hell can't run right now. And we don't have time to wait until I can. Take the baby and run. I can grab their attention and at least slow them down until you get to a town."
Khadgar shook his head. "No! No Kelyth, we- we'll think of something! Don't you dare make me lose you too!"
Her hand went from his shoulder to his chin, making him look her in the eye. "This isn't one of Medivh's debates! We are not making this a discussion, take Ciel and go!"
She took a deep breath, and kissed her baby's head. Then pushed her into Khadgar's arms. "Make sure she can swim, love. Go!"
Khadgar shook his head. She shoved him towards the horse. He held their baby close as he climbed onto the horse. He tried to say something to Kelyth, but his throat was too closed up for him to speak.
So he ran. He got on that horse and held Ciel close and ran as fast as the horse could go. The last thing he heard her yell was "COME AT ME YOU ORCISH FUCKERS, I'LL BURN YOU A NEW HOLE!"
Kelyth held a ball of fire in her hand as the large green orcs came into view. There were three of them, two men and a woman, all armed to the teeth. One man started running in the direction her husband and child had gone, and she flung the fire at him.
She grinned in savage satisfaction at his howls of pain, and the sound of sizzling flesh.
The orc woman knelt next to her, and Kelyth saw all the scars and bone piercings throughout her skin. Kelyth stared into her red eyes.
"Where is your whelp?" She asked.
"Safe." Kelyth replied.
The orc woman looked her over. "You keep fighting while weak."
"I'll show you how weak I am!" Kelyth snarled. She brought flame to her palm again, but it felt hollow. No real substance. Khadgar was always so much better at bluffing than she was.
The other woman's face didn't change at all. "You have earned an honorable death." She drew a sharp, jagged dagger from by her thigh.
Kelyth glared at the dagger. "You think I will just lay down and die?"
"I am recognizing your honor. Would this not be better than dying alone in fear?"
"You would use this to chase after my loves. No, I will fight to the end."
The orc woman nodded. She barked an order to the other orc, and he grabbed the dead body and dragged it away into the woods then.
"Burn me then, shaman. Make it count."
Kelyth drew every drop of fire from her depths, and aimed it at the orc's crotch.
The satisfaction from knowing it hit and that it hurt was dampened by the dagger in her heart.
"There. Honorable death."
"If I find out you hurt them.... I will haunt you." She gasped.
The orc grinned. "Good. I'd expect nothing less from a shaman like you."
The last thing Kelyth Proudmoor, daughter of Daelin Proudmoor and Katherine Proudmoor saw, was the rich red blood pouring down her dress to mix with the blood on the grass between her legs. She had the idle thought that it was a beautiful shade of red.
