Has anyone else here on Milgramblr ever thought about how awkward the shipping culture on here would (and very possibly does) get for the prisoners - like, at least some of the voices must be talking about the really popular ones. To quote someone in our system: "It's like someone saying that you'd be a really cute couple and now everything's awkward".

#he's so floppy recently and I hope it's just the heat. I think wamr weather makes everyone floppy and loungy #a beauntifulle boye...#cats #STILL working on posting some drafts. finishing new poll adventure.. other things... It's just hard with the weather and other things going #on. I've had a few more doctors appointments and other things to do recently that have to be done in a time limit #so I hvae to use my extremely limited energy working on that instead of doing the things I'd really rather do. :T #Main focuses though are keeping up better with doing and posting costumes + sculptures as main creative things. at least finishing the #main poll adventure story. Reworking the game I kind of abandoned for a few years. keeping up with game videos and a few other side things.#Especially the game though. I've been in a really worldbuildy mood recently. I just wish that was easier to manifest into something. I've #now put the worldbuilding slideshow reading video on pause for a while because it's SOOO long to do #and I think I should prioritize making games and stuff instead. but still other things. IT's just kind of like.. I have a whole world and #everything very built and planned out but now.. what do I do with it? what's the best way to share that? factual slideshows just going over #the information like a dictionary? make it into a game? write short stories? do art attached to the world? etc. etc. ?? There are so many #potential avenues I end up kind of flip flopping between them a lot because none really seem more beneficial than the others and they all #seem equally enjoyable and also equally hard so. It's like?? I guess just do what the hell ever and hope I made the right choice in terms o #cost benefit and reward for my time lol. ANYWAY.. Also why I'm in my 'trying to make friends' era still because I think having other creat #ive friends can help you find direction like.. people will meet each other and then go 'hey lol just for fun lets start a project together!#and then like 5 years later it's genuinely become something. etc. having other people to help weed out ideas and start small creative teams #together and etc. I feel is a very beneficial part of networking or whatever but also I have the social capacity of a stale bread roll and #am also inherently unrelatable to seemingly a majority of people due to my hermit wizard swag (detachment from general society and hyper #focus on fantasy worlds in my head gjhghj) so trying to meet people as a grown adult with social issues is Very easy and fun (it is not)#even very basic things like my core communication style is so incompatible with a lot of people it's like.. hhhh... People in this modern #age have GOT to stop being afraid of phone calls and/or text that is longer than 6 paragraphs. Work with me here. What's your least favorite thing to draw/do when you make art?

I'm on my own art journey right now and kind of dread the transition from lineart to coloring.

Trying to study anatomy right now and ignore rendering but I'm curious what other artists feel is challenging or just like 'ugh, ok time for [x]'

OHHH in terms of what's challenging, for me it's definitely coloring, rendering, backgrounds, and composition HAHA (<- chronic flat colors user who only draws character art on a floating white background)

i love focusing on gesture and lines when i draw ^_^ i rely mostly on intuition for the other stuff but it really only takes u so far T_T i'll spend hours trying to fix something by trial and error when i probably couldve saved that time by putting in more conscious studying/practice lol

#the thing that keeps me from getting too down about it tho is that it just takes some dedicated time and practice!!!#one of my goals this year is to take a class on one of those things!! or read a book on it or smth lol #for me i like learning the theory behind those things. makes things click and saves me a lot of time and frustration down the road lol #just the other day i was working on smth and the colors took me FOREVERRRR to figure out T_T #it's like. i kinda knew why the colors didnt work together but i didn't know how to pick the right ones to fix it.#it's nice to have tools to fall back on when you get stuck/intuition fails you #BUT!! everyone is different #the important thing is to not get too hung up on the things you are weak in ^_^ it's only temporary as long as ur patient and practice!!#i think its hilarious how u put it tho 'ugh ok time for' BC IT RLY DO FEEL LIKE THAT SOMETIMES DKJFHASF #me when i finish my sketch/lines. ugh now time for everything else BAHAHA #ALSO SORRY I REPLIED SO LATE this has been sitting in drafts for a while and i forgot to finish writing my response omfg

officially 10K into this fic and having a realization about where I'm at on characterization so far, so i'm wondering:

#N posts stuff #i'm like. this first draft is really the writing equivalent of layout sketching: which characters are where / what's the scene About #with the expectation that the second draft will have the building blocks there to build up specific characterization further #but i'm realizing that i am in fact SO broad strokes on the characters so far that i'd need to do extensive studying #of the source material to really hammer in the characterization in a way that i would be satisfied with. a task that at this point #likely wouldn't be very fun. so i had a moment of 'oh idek if i'll be able to finish writing this fic :(' and got sad about it #which was where the 'oh. actually if i'm That loose on characterization right now I could just. shift the characters in #Whatever ways i want them to go and just make them OCs instead of fanfic...' which would actually be like. technically speaking #a Lot more fun bc this fic is so self-indulgent that i keep having moments where i'm pulling back on other elements i'd want to #incorporate into the fic bc 'if it's Too self-indulgent with numerous headcanons it won't be Good to fandom readers'#(ie the character who would Really vibe being a furry and the other begging to be a tgirl)#it Might wind up being something we do no matter what but i am still curious if there would be like. an actual audience for it #and not just something i'm doing all for myself lol; i used to make a LOT of ocs but haven't really done it in Years nd Years #i had a 'no way' moment but i Have had multiple people tell me they read my fics Regardless of whether they've seen source #material or not. so tentatively hopeful the answer is yes? but i'm curious :3

watching a tv-show that’s done in my country and fuck it’s got me sobbing. Forgot how much more things hit when it’s like in your culture & language; every american tv-show has that distance bc can relate like maybe 50%. So idk, if you’re in need of a good cry; watch something sad that’s from your country, it hits where it hurts so much better !!

nosy anon again making a return because i think what my brain did was read that i helped find some kind of writing and then did not fully process what the writing was?? but upon rereading i am very intrigued if you ever get the urge to share i will be all eyes/ears/senses required to enjoy things!!

I GET TO DO WIP WEDNESDAYYYYYY!!! the writing exists mostly in the form of a tag (fantastic! 'verse) and also a thirty-two page doc of snippets and planning, so the sense you will be using most is imagination:

don't think i have ever actually formally written out anything about fantastic! 'verse but! the tl;dr of it is that it's a semi-college au: joel is still a hockey player for the lv phantoms, but morgan is a college student-athlete. it's incredibly relevant to the plot that joel falls in love with morgan in the check-out line of a wegman's, lies a little bit, and ends up going back to get his degree.

most of it is just good fun about college kids growing up, but i think there's a lot of parallels between making your way through a development system where traditional "success" isn't always guaranteed (ahl -> nhl, completion of higher education -> pursuit of a career) because that development system isn't always designed for you to "succeed" or have opportunities. heavy quotation marks around success because part of that struggle is learning what you want in life and how you define success. are your dreams achievable? are they still the same dreams you always used to have? it's infinite branching universes of would you still love me if i was a worm (ahl player forever) (a college dropout) (a college graduate) (older) (realizing the fallibility of your body) (uncertain of the future) (human).

I'm so happy you're excited!! I'm really glad you've been enjoying the story so far 💖 Unfortunately... I have some bad news/good news/bad news.

The first piece of bad news is that I am more than a little bit behind on my editing. The good news is I literally just finished up the second draft! But the second piece of bad news is... there are still drafts three & four to go before I can post.

So... I'm really not sure if it's going to be ready today, I'm so sorry 😭 & with the planned AO3 outage tomorrow, I'll probably need to wait until Wednesday at the earliest before I can share. But it is coming, I can promise you that!

when i was in my second year of high school i sat next to this guy in history whom i didn’t rlly get along w/until i saw him writing love letters to his girlfriend and offered to fold them into hearts for him. i wonder what he’s up to.

#and now i am thinking abt how the differences in latinx n asian cultural values were probs what led us to not interact #(by 'us' i mean just like the general latinx n asian social halves at school)#like they probs thought i was looking down on them at first (strong asian value of academic achievement)#(also that chinese habit of never speaking your thoughts n feelings aloud bc i will keep all my feelings right here n then someday i'll die)#but like... i guess once i made it clear i was willing to help them (n not just leave them n their grades for dead) the dynamic changed too #i remember my hispanic classmates were often so much more *earnest* and open w/their feelings n affection #like i feel like high fives n dramatic gestures of greeting in the halls btwn classes are kind of obnoxious. you feel?#but once there was that understanding that i wasn't looking down on them i'd get those 'EYYYYYY *HIGH FIVE*' in the halls from them #n like looking back i think it's just a cultural thing bc there was like one asian student who did that but we all were like #'oh yeah. she's Like That(tm). it's not a... *bad*... thing..... hmm... i dont want to lock myself in to super long chapters but the need to swap around the chapter breaks to up the drama is so strong

#i've been breaking chapters up approximately every ten pages of drafting so far #which usually word count geeeenerally doubles when i translate from outline to actual writing #so i'm looking at like probably a 6k average wordcount per chapter right now #which i think is nice and manageable #BUUUUUUUUT..... i do prefer to break chapters in terms of plot rather than in terms of length #BUTx2!!!!!!!!! i don't want to lock myself in to really long chapters cus they're kind of tiring.#but x 3 i don't want to slap breaks in for the sole purpose of 'yeah this is long enough cut it here' cus #like i said i prefer my breaks to depend on plot rather than length #idk. either way i'm going to adjust the chapter breaks once i actually finish outlining cus i'll have a better idea of the bigger picture #i'm just kind of publicly musing i guess #i probably will end up committing to longer chapters if that's what it takes to keep the plot broken up in a neater manner #throwback to 2019 when my strategy was 'i'll post a chapter every 2.5k'#can you fucking imagine #the negligible self would have been like 30 something chapters LOL #i did not know what the hell i was doing back then #hence why i imploded and deleted everything lol but we r back and we r thriving baby
