Well, seeing this message actually tipped me off about it. Thank you, anon!

So indeed, Vrains has changed directors as of episode 14. Our new director is now Asano Katsuya.

Unlike Hosoda—who has a wealth of experience—Asano is the new kid on the block. Though he’s done some work as an animation director, he’s never worked as the director before. 

This can be good or bad. The director is mostly responsible for the aesthetics of the show, and as YGO Organization notes, the designs for episode 14 were more diverse than what we saw episodes 1-13. We got a lot of new shots today.

But to be fair, these are shots that we may have gotten regardless. What’s most notable are the changes in Link Vrains. The digital city is now has a green overcast, instead of the gray we’ve been getting. The setting practically glows. 

But the craziest of them all? We finally got NEW LINK SUMMONING ANIMATION:

These are all very promising signs for Director Asano. So I’m not too worried ^^

Do you have a list of all of your main building OCs from your fics like Do Continuous and Kunigigaoka Knows?

Hi! Great question - I did make a list! It gets a little long:

OCs in Past, Continuous

- Gakushuu (the original, but his personality is displaced from canon he might as well classify as an OC. He’s the only one of them that remembers Gakuhou before he had a 180 personality switch. Of the four, he is the most empathetic and the most social. He’s the dominant personality and he usually fronts)

- Yukio (The second alter. He was developed to help Gakushuu cope with isolation and rejection (from his father). Of the four, he’s the most calm and independent. He is also, however, the most oblivious, and his thoughts like to wander and drift until someone reminds him what time it is.)

- Nanako (The third alter. She first emerged when Gakushuu was dealing with conflicting attachments with Gakuhou, and when Gakushuu was handling physical abuse. She would be considered the most hot-headed of the four, as well as the most passionate. She likes being at the top of her game.)

- Katsuya (The fourth alter. Out of the four, she thinks, acts and behaves the most like Gakuhou Asano. She is cold, cunning and ambitious - a reflection of Gakuhou’s attempt in instilling his values. She is, however, fiercely protective of her alters.)

- Tsubara (friends with G4, has knowledge about Gakushuu's condition)

- Anaya (Her name was briefly mentioned in one of the chapters)

Blue Period Anime Premieres This October, Main Cast Revealed

  A new trailer is here for the Blue Period anime, which adapts the coming-of-age manga by Tsubasa Yamaguchi. Blue Period, nuovo trailer per l’anime tratto dal premiato manga di Tsubasa Yamaguchi

La serie arriverà in streaming su Netflix a partire dal 9 ottobre.

Diffuso un secondo trailer di “Blue Period”, la serie animata tratta dall’omonimo manga di Tsubasa Yamaguchi, attualmente in lavorazione presso lo studio SEVEN ARCS (Arte, TONIKAWA: Over the Moon For You), che sbarcherà sulle tv giapponesi dal 1° ottobre e verrà distribuita settimanalmente al di fuori del Giappone in streaming su Netflix, a partire dal 9 ottobre.

Il video anticipa brevemente la sigla di testa dell’anime, intitolata “EVERBLUE” ed eseguita dalla band Omoinotake (Twittering Birds Never Fly: The Clouds Gather).

L’adattamento è sotto la supervisione di Koji Masunari (Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Welcome to the Space Show, Kamichu!) e alla regia troviamo Katsuya Asano (Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS). La sceneggiatura sta venendo curata da Reiko Yoshida (La Forma della Voce, Bakuman, Non Non Biyori), mentre il character design è in mano a Tomoyuki Shitaya (Bakuman, Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, OshiBudo).

Il manga viene serializzato sulle pagine della rivista Afternoon dal giugno del 2017 e attualmente è giunto all’11° volume.

L’opera è edita in Italia da J-POP Manga e ha vinto i Manga Taisho Awards del 2020, oltre ad essere è stata anche premiata come Miglior Manga nella categoria Generale dei Kodansha Manga Awards in 2020.

Aves is the older twin of the River siblings. Being the one who got always the support of his parents because he was the heir of the family business. However, he never was interested in anything about it. Being bad in school, not helping the parents and flirting with people until he could push them in a corner. It was a bad habit of his and often... People always thought about the negative parts and not his good sides. However, his brother always seemed to be nice to him and often helped him with school things.

At some point, Aves just dropped out of some cool because he couldn't handle anything. School was shit, people annoyed him and in the end he was not finding it important. He could calculate some things and could read and write. That was enough. However, he didn't stop to try to bring people home. Female and on the end male ones in secret. He never had a relationship. His own brother made him fall and filmed that he was bringing strangers home but also knowing that their parents weren't tolerating homosexuality, they were embarrassed, angry and sad that they couldn't prevent that something like this didn't happen. With their parents throwing out Aves, he didn't know exactly why or what he should do.

Since then River and his brother kept in touch with each other. Trevor, his brother, feeling bad and supporting him to get food, a motel room and several other things. Things were peacuful for River until the day he was about to fuck up his life. Blood everyhwere and a half dead and during a rush an unknown man came inside his room, thinking there was another person hiding but no. It was River. After River’s victim was fleeing and River wanting to sprint after it. It got shot by the man that seemed to enjoy the way 18 year old River was behaving even when he was more than passive agressive.

It seemed like as if River was hitting the jackpot. He got taken in by the other after some forth and back. Surely RIver wanted to burn down the motel to vanish and never see prison but in the end RIver got taken in by a someone who wasn’t only owning a strip club but... drug selling, prostitution and human trafficking was the business of said man. Blake, how he was revealling his name, wanted to take River in his little family but it didn’t turn out how was liking it. River was twisting and turning everything how he wanted it. Blake being one of his playthings and getting some parts of his business before vanishing with River’s son who wasn’t panned. Leaving Blake alone and fucked up. To Rover’s enjoyement.

Day after day, River was starting to have a little... home for himself. His son was trouble and he didn’t know how to take care of him. Being more or less not able to handle some of his pets and throwing them away and just his son... being oh so naughty and what could he do? Nothing really. So it was no woder when River saw how his son grew up. All fucked up in his head but still loving. WIth a pet on the side of his son, it would be no surprise that everything will go well. WHen there wouldn’t be his brother who was critizising him and after a little incident with Trevor’s son... they never talked again. Never saw each other again. Screams weren’t unusual when it happened shortly before he was leaving the place of Blake.

Now, River is spending ost of his time in his bed. Being sick but still getting out for some enjoyments. Getting on a car and getting too see his son who took over the little pet shop he was building up. Surely, River’s methods were rough and had no structure but he was happy. Hapy to see his son being a as mad as himself and liked to do it, right?

16 episodes into VRAINS and we’ve already gotten the best written female characters in a 20 year old franchise

so here appears to be the key to the formula:

keep a small cast of important characters with important duels and not like 30 side characters who only have minor duels

Masahiro Hosoda and Asano Katsuya as the directors (although as of episode 14+ Katsuya appears to be the better director honestly)
