I think you can tell Aoi's connection to Miyu wasn't planned from the start because "I became a public figure in the vain hope a person I was separated from would recognise me and we'd meet again" is such a story staple. Maybe if I get famous enough and duel enough I'll meet that person again. Classic.

Could have had the two dueling as kids. Aoi didn't have any cards because Akira was more focused on getting them food and shelter so Miyu brought her a deck so they could play together. And part of why Aoi kept dueling is because of the happy memories she made with Miyu.

And she'd have a "oh he just like me for real" moment when Yusaku talks about ~aitsu~ during the duel with Akira, remembering Miyu. Playing into her uncertainty for what she's dueling for that she talks about in that scene. And she remembers that before proving herself to her brother it was about reuniting with Miyu.

oh yeah, here's a very short-lived half baked idea i scribbled some stuff for and nearly forgot about, ~circa mid-whenever VR was airing...Vrains concept where there's a Secret Special Seventh Ignis who's the master of the other six and who fuses bodily/mentally with Takeru

i didn't end up going much of anywhere with this but i did recycle some of the visuals i came up with here into some original work, and i'm still kinda chuffed with this design in general
