Audible Narrators

I absolutely adore Michael Kramer and Kate Reading. They are phenomenal audiobook narrators who did amazing work with Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series and with Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere. They are definitely my favorite Audible narrators. But...

I do think maybe Edgedancer could have been narrated by Suzy Jackson, who did the Skyward series. She would have been perfect for Lift. I guess I understand it's more consistent to use Kate Reading since she does Lift in the main books, and she does a wonderful job, but I just think Suzy Jackson would have been cool in that role.

gang i need to write a young brad fic from zack’s perspective as an older sibling in an abusive household

#do you see my vision???#idk it’s mostly bc people catastrophically mischaracterize zack as an evil psychopath #i just think sibling relationships are more complicated than what people see on a surface level #espiecially with brad and zack considering they were clearly both vying for their father’s approval when they were younger #which would obviously carry over in a less literal sense in their self-perception and belief system #like i think the way both zack and brad remember/choose to frame the killing of kate as a case of unreliable narration for a few reasons #1. zack is trying to ‘gut’ the company and make jo see brad as weak which obviously leads him to exaggerate his ‘strength’/power #2. brad sees it as a moment of weakness that he is always trying to make up for which means he will remember the executor (zack) as #someone with power that is seemingly larger than life which is supported by the actions brad takes and his extreme paranoia surrounding zac #in breaking brad #this all leads to an inflated power imbalance imagined by both zack and brad but that i don’t think zack truly believes as a child who was #also raised in an abusive home #i think that every action he takes in the show (which are albeit very few) are vessels to reassert control for himself very much mirroring #how brad operates #anyyyways #the fic would be about how brad couldn’t kill kate and zack was begging him to do that their father wouldn’t get mad and eventually zack ha #to kill her for him #but because they’re children and siblings and scared zack switches gears and tells brad that he wasn’t strong enough to kill her and this i #what shapes their views and yadda yadda #brad bakshi #zack bakshi #mq #mythic quest

#my stance up to now has been that i don't really care about tim/ber but now that i have read this. dude...#it sucks that they gave a canon queer tim narrative to someone who uses homophobia as shock value and virtue signaling points #and who actively tears down characters who don't like her special little uwu flawless oc (kate im so fucking sorry)#there's no substance to this relationship i don't see why they even like each other #bc she keeps just stating oh they're perfect they make each other so happy but she doesn't like. show that at all #and i HATE the shock value homophobia like i cannot overstate how much i hate it #oh these random cops are homophobic (that's how you know they're BAD!)#oh bernard's parents are homophobic (that's how you know THEY'RE bad too!)#it's so hamfisted and it reads like such. cheap storytelling #especially bc tim as narrator doesn't even get to have ANY thoughts on his own queerness or seeing this homophobia in the world around him #and then she can't go more than two pages without being like BTW BERNARD IS THE BEST EVER AND TIM CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT HIM #while against this ugly backdrop of shock value homophobia #there's no substance to this relationship. why do they even like each other. it just falls apart if you examine it at all #because she just is fundamentally incapable of writing either of them as people with character flaws #for fucks sake she can't even be consistent with tim's BASIC character tenets. saw someone (not on here) comment on the pronunciation of Moghedien based on the audiobooks and here's the thing about that

Kate Reading changes the pronunciation of Moghedien at least three times

so you can't actually go off of the audiobooks on that

because the audiobooks aren't consistent and literally changes based on what book you're listening to

but the way its pronounced in the show it is how the glossary has it. when in doubt, consult the glossary not the audiobooks because this isn't a Moghedien exclusive issue
