things i noted on my 2nd watch of Twisters (2024)

where each song from the soundtrack plays (idk how many times i listened to it but y’all there was hell or high water playing at the diner when Javi was talking to Riggs and i felt like my third eye opened lmaooooo)

Dexter nerding out over everything (noticed this before but like 🥰🤧 this old man has my heart y’all 🥺 do you see how excited he gets mapping out the terrain and remembering which tornado effect is which???? yeah sure he probably never went to university or finished high school but you can see his love for learning and education and i bet he read every book in every library he visits)

white shirt OT3 o7 (Kate begins the white shirt effect and then it switches to Tyler and switches back to Kate then switches to Javi which switches to Tyler at the end. now, you could argue that Javi begins the white shirt effect bc Storm Par includes white shirts in their uniforms but NO! because they’re polos AND Javi wears the blue and black uniform. so truly the real argument would be Scott wore it but he’s separate from the OT3 and is meant to draw Javi away unlike Kate and Tyler and in this essay—)

Boone not answering Tyler calls (like, last time i did see when Tyler was asking Boone for forgiveness when he chased a tornado with Kate instead of Boone but the fact that Tyler only called Lily because Boone wasn’t answering just adds to that lmao)

Tyler being all shy and sweet with Kate (yeah i saw it before last time but like 🥺 he’s such a sweetie with his little crush and little smile and trying to act all cool asking for her opinion about where the twister is like 🤧🤧 adorable)

Lily teasing and being a great wingman (calling out his red face and handing Kate the food. and ok, yeah, sure, it’s a lot more likely that she didn’t see Kate and Tyler have a mini argument where Kate assumes the worst of them, but i like to think she saw how it ended and decided to clear the air her own way)

Benjamin Shopshire III (100% laughed when i read that name, i’m so sorry Ben lmao)

Mrs Carter’s narrative similarities to Aunt Meg (bbq & steak and eggs; team loving protag’s relative; not taking protag’s bs)

dead bf’s name is Jeb not Jeff (pretty sure that’s short for something but i have never heard of a Jeb before)

Tyler complimenting Javi’s radar (solely for OT3 purposes)

As if he looked at Kate and his brain had to rewire itself. Like looking at her felt like being hit by a train and he needs to take a moment to collect his breath.

Being a woc fan of Bridgerton can be a struggle, especially when it comes to liking the poc characters on the show, especially the woc. Like I remember when s1 came out and the blatant microaggressions and just plain racism coming from this fandom was atrocious. You had people spewing very hateful things about Charlotte, Marina, and Simon and undermining the latter two's pain and trauma at the hands of the white characters---Marina was treated terribly by the Featheringtons and, whether you like Penelope or not, you cannot deny that she also played a part by releasing that letter to the Ton and Simon was violated Daphne no matter how people try to spin the story to offer her some form of sympathy (it still blows my mind that people would want to though).

S2 is just as bad (not even including how they changed the Sharma family's storyline than how it was in the books when that wasn't necessary) and the racist undertones many of the fans have towards Mary and Edwina (as well as Kate but for her it's carries more brown woman needing to be saved by a white man when Anthony is involved because a lot of you all in the fandom are quick to use this trope such as "oh, he's the only one who truly knows her"). The lack of screen time for this family really ends up hurting them to but even with that, whether you like Mary and Edwina or not, it would be a lie to deny the racism a lot in the fandom hold towards them (and how that falls onto the actresses because it was very apparent how many in the fandom couldn't let two Desi women shine without having to bring down the other and Netflix played into that too for drama) and paints every small thing they do as being terrible crimes but in the same breath will not have the same smoke for the Bridgertons, who have their own set of problems (but because they are also the main family, among other things, they are provided more grace without consequences).

I love Kate and Lucy dynamics like Kate’s meticulously organized calendar vs Lucy’s penchant for choosing random dates to celebrate. (Kate now has a maddening 5 separate entries for their anniversary). Lucy’s love of junk food and pizza vs Kate’s determination to try every new health food trend. (Lucy pretended to like fake mushroom coffee for one entire week,, she’s the best girlfriend ever)

i couldnt agree more! kate and lucy are a nice, easy example of opposites attract that make them easy to get behind. and yas and tori play off their dynamic/chemistry so well its a treat to watch

theres so many differences about them like kate's very by the book vs. lucy circumventing the rules to solve a case, kate being more introverted/worried about appearances (whether this is from noah trauma or not) vs. lucy living more openly and loudly, and (spoilers if you havent seen the promo pics) lucy traveling light while kate has 1000 bags

and more obviously, kate's tall, blonde, white vs. lucy's short, brunette, and brown (also lucy's parents being immigrants)

theres a lot of similarities there too like how they both love how smart and witty the other is (one of the things i love most about them) and at the end of the day they want validation (whether that comes from curtis or tennant or each other) and to be proud of their successes. they both have a lot of heart and want nothing more than to help people (kate rushing in because she thought andrea medina was a hostage, pushing through a head injury to look for the escaped fugitive and tennant, lucy going out of her way to help the witness in 1x02, her and the team pushing forward with the kayla barlow case even though they'd been shut down and even whistler eventually helping out etc.) even when they were at odds they were still fighting for the same things. its part of how opposites attract works so well right? that at their core they want and value the same things. i think thats maybe a little bit why lucy was so worried about not working together and growing apart (aside from the fact that she was spiraling).

that shared drive and passion make them a lethal team. their similarities bind them together, but their differences really do bring out the best in each other and make up for what the other lacks. and theyre gradually starting to understand, learn from, and adapt to one another. and it all culminates in them bouncing off each other and working so well together!
