Gunn said the first movie was about the mother, the second about the father and the third about the self. And if I think about it, all characters finally come to terms to who they really are or want to be:
[SPOILERS]
• Mantis goes her own way, after following what Ego wanted and then what the Guardians wanted for all these years;
• Drax, that called himself the 'destroyer', finds his place as a 'father', even after his daughter's death;
• Groot: now that he is an adult again, it's pretty clear to us that he's phisically and mentally different from the GOTG1!Groot. He respects and supports everyone's choices in his family and makes us part of it too at the end (→ now we understand him too);
• Nebula, now free from Thanos, is now a leader and helps kids in need like she was as a child, following what she and Gamora talked about at the end of vol 2;
• Gamora learns why her 2018!self found a family between the Guardians, but feels she's different and chooses another path in the end;
• Rocket "ain't no one like me but me" accepts he's not alone in the world anymore and deserves to keep on living. Also, he calls himself "racoon" for the first time without it being a offense for him;
• Peter, always away from his planet, faces his fears and comes back to the Earth, where he lost his mother, and meets his granddad.
I don't like all the choices Gunn made in this movie (about Gamora's arc for example), but GOTG3 made me cry and laught and cry again and I'm happy we finally got to see the ending of this beautiful trilogy.

Phew, this took me so long, but I'm really happy with how all these came out!
There's a couple oddballs in these line ups, so I'll just go ahead and explain some less direct headcanons:
So Tara is just the name I gave to that one random background goth girl in season 8 episode 7, cause I thought her design was really cute and I wanted to draw her, and then I thought since Stan's goth name is Raven, I could name her Tara and now I have the dumb little headcanon that Stan and her wrote "My Immortal" (Since that fanfic was written by two girls named Tara and Raven)
I also headcanon her as Michael's younger adoptive sister who he doesn't let hang out with his friends cause he thinks she's a poser.
and Alexandra Cartman is Cartman's cousin from Season 2 episode 16, I really like the idea of her meeting and being friends with Shelley and Kevin. (I also headcanon her as trans cause I like to think she told Cartman about transgender people before "The Cissy" and that's why he had some accurate information despite clearly not really knowing much more than surface level stuff, and then she pushes him into a snowbank for the stunt he pulls )
I also drew the goth kids (and Ike, Karen and Tricia) WAY before the PC specials came out, so their designs don't really have any influence from their canon adult designs. Which is kind of a shame cause I really liked Firkle's post covid design being a big beefy tatted up punk, but I'm too attached to my little rat version of Firkle to make any changes lol.

Rocket: *is extremely entertained by the separation of people from their mechanical prostheses, laughs his ass off every time*
also Rocket: *grew up surrounded by friends with cybernetic enhancements that could not be removed, has intrinsic mechanical parts himself, is likely so amused and delighted because the concept of separating the biological and the biomechanical is deeply strange and surprising to him (because he couldn't take them out if he wanted to)*
Nebula: *goes to great lengths to get Rocket Bucky's metal arm for Christmas because she--more than anyone--understands and relates to this (as someone who also feels more machine than person and marvels at separated prostheses and how people can endure without them)*
