"See you tomorrow" you waved off to Kanao and Aoi before jogging a little to catch up to Genya. "It's so cold now," You sighed, your posture slumping as you walked next to him.

"It's autumn what is there to expect [Name]" You pouted staring up at the branches hanging above you two, "I know but still. At least it's around the time where the grandmas will start roasting chestnuts and sweet potatoes outside." You smiled close-eyed at the thought of the delicacies.

Genya barked out a laugh, "You really haven't changed." He smiled and you remained the same, "Is there anything I should change about myself Mr. Shinazugawa?" You teased and he shook his head.

"No, not at all, don't change," "You know what you should change though. That awful haircut you've had since we've met," You pointed up and your fingers grazed at the shaved part of his head.

"Don't you get cold now?" He flushed red and his pupils began to dart everywhere but your face, "N-no, not at all, and and Hiroshi likes to copy my hair and d-dad's the one who cuts it so." He stuttered while moving his hands erratically.

You raised an eyebrow, "Well that's a shame, you'd be really handsome with more hair," If his face wasn't already firetruck red, he was now so red he could be mistaken for the siren instead.

The two of you walked in silence for a bit, "You know though, this is nice too, you're like a cool rebellious delinquent you know." You furrowed your brows making an expression to try and appear more 'hip'.

However, he slumped forward at the image you created of him. "I'm not a cool rebellious delinquent though," You giggled and nudged him, straightening his posture with your shoulder, "Of course I know that, but the more people see you as one they leave me alone."

You perked up and your hands went to his cheeks, squishing them together, "You're like my guard dog huh? Either way I know you're cute and sweet so it's ok," You winked, "Your cheeks are so warm," you fawned and then Genya realized how frigid they were.

Cheeks heating up once again he removed your hands from his face, his eyes adverting your face again, "Either way focus on your own hair," Leaning over you, you looked up at him curiously, the action causing him to flush even darker, his adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed.

"This," was all he said as he thrusted a single yellow leaf at your face. A small ginkgo leaf stood between his fingers, "oh it's pretty" you marveled, "You should keep it," You smiled up at him and he smiled back.

"It's kind of like you," He quoted but before he could expand you had taken your bag from his shoulder where he would carry it for you everyday and pressed a kiss to his cheek, "Thanks Genya, see you tomorrow!" You called out, waving enthusiastically at him in front of your door.

As soon as you disappeared the boy fell to his knees, crouching while staring at the delicate ginkgo leaf twirling around his fingers. "Yeah, see you tomorrow"

Much romance happens at Kimetsu Academy.

There's Zenitsu and Nezuko, although Genya considers it more of an obsession on the blonde’s end seeing as Nezuko doesn't openly display any signs of liking him back romantically, whatever the delusional idiot thinks. There's also Tanjiro and Kanao, the perfect epitome of friends to lovers. And whatever Aoi and Inosuke have going on.

But none of that ever happened to Genya. Sure, he thought the occasional girl was pretty or nice, but aside from the fact he explodes into a tomato just from a simple “hello” he's never been actually interested. Of course that occasionally made him feel a bit left out amongst his friends, like he was missing something great, but hey, Muichiro and him would be single pringles forever and that was fine.

(Genya's very betrayed to find out Muichiro had received a confession…and was considering accepting it.)

But it was a little unbelievable to the Kamaboko Squad that in all of the sixteen years of his life he had never had a crush, hence the interrogation they were giving him that particular day during lunch.

“Have you never fallen in love? At all?!” Genya wants to snort; as if Zenitsu would ever notice anybody else's love life but his own.

“HAHAHAHAA! LOSER!”

Tanjiro calmly shoved Inosuke away from a fuming Genya, smiling brightly. “I'm sure Genya has one! And we'll be more than happy to help him confess!”

“Aren't crushes supposed to be secret-”

“Then we have to figure out who it is first!” Zenitsu hollers.

“No-”

“Is it Kocho?!”

Kanao, Tanjiro and Genya both look scandalised but Zenitsu barrels on. Aoi face palms. Inosuke steals everyone's food.

“Is it Kanrojii?!”

“Why is everyone you're listing so much older than me!”

“OKAY, OKAY! Uh…Koyuki-”

“SHE'S ENGAGED TO SOMEONE ELSE!”

“Sheesh, I got it, stop yelling! That Shabana girl?”

“Just why-”

“Maybe Genya does like someone but just doesn't realize it,” Kanao offers timidly.

“That's a good point, Kanao!” Tanjiro beams, causing Genya and Kanao to flush red but for entirely different reasons.

“How am I supposed to know if I like someone?”

“If you find them cute?”

“That seems really superficial,” Aoi says disapprovingly.

“You'll get really nervous around them, like your heart speeds up. You'll probably stare at them a lot too, and want to do lots of things for them, maybe hold open doors?” Tanjiro nods wisely.

“And they're the first person you look at to see if they're laughing at a joke,” Kanao agrees.

Genya considers. “Then none of the girls you just listed, honestly.”

“It's alright, you'll find the one for you one day. There's no rush now.”

“HAHAHA! TENYA IIDA IS GOING TO BE ALONE FOREVER! HAHAHHAA!”

Truth be told Genya had lied.

It wasn't a lie exactly either. More of…an avoidance of the truth. He didn't feel that way about any girls Zenitsu had mentioned, or any of the girls at school.

But he did like someone, yes.

Or no. Definitely not. It couldn't possibly be.

“Oh, hey, Shinazugawa.” Your simple wave as you joined his side outside the classroom door was enough to get his heart pounding and slightly sweaty like he had just suffered an entire class with the gym teacher Tomioka.

“Thanks for holding the door!” You call out over your shoulder, flashing him a bright smile while entering the class and taking your seat. You immediately turn to start talking with your friends, something Genya's extreme thankfully for because then you can't see the tomato red that's painting his face as he's still stuck, frozen and speechless, by the door. Only Iguro-sensei’s cold “Do you plan to have the lesson by the door or something?” Shook him out of it.

You're so confusing, Genya thinks, averting his eyes when you catch his with a mouthed “oops” and raised eyebrows, because he wants to revel in your attention and hide in a hole from it at the same time.

It was a pleasant kind of confusion, though. The kind he wouldn't mind thinking about forever; it gave him an oddly warm, fidgety feeling inside like he had just drunk an entire thermos of hot chocolate and got marshmallows to top it off. Then he promptly slaps himself (mentally) because he shouldn't be thinking about this, that and you.

Not like it stopped him from staring at the back of your head all through class. He doesn't realize it until your friend turns their head around and makes a face at him, leaning closer to you to whisper something. Genya panics and ducks his head, burying it into his arms for a few minutes before he judges it's safe to look up.

And when he does you're smiling at him knowingly, as if the both of you knew something the rest don't. Oh good lord.

Your laughter is something Genya wishes he could make as well, when the whole class watches Iguro-sensei trying to tell Inosuke off, but the dumbass can't get the teacher’s name right at all. He finds himself laughing as well, a combination of that and because of you before it hits him.

Genya rubbed his temples. If he was being honest the idea only seemed so wrong because…well, because he's just never considered that possibility before. It just hasn't really occured to him he might be attracted to the same gender. It's a new concept, yes, but…not really a terrible one. He got all red with girls yes but it wasn't because he like-liked them or thought they were cute.

Was crushing on a guy really going to be any different than a girl then? Genya groaned again. Judging by his behaviour these days…yeah, not really.

Okay, then if hypothetically he DID like you and he liked guys…how would Sanemi and his friends react? Would they still want to hang out with him? Would Sanemi still…consider him his brother? What would his mom think?

What a headache. What would…you think? It'd be pretty embarrassing to like you and you're straight, Genya thought. Then again was he even sure he was gay, even certain he had a big fat crush on you?

“Hey, you alright?” The voice startles Genya out of his thoughts. He lifts up his head and looks around, startled to see everyone's left. Shit, he hadn't even realized class was over. Idiot.

He glances to his left and nearly dies of fright.

You cock an eyebrow. “Um, seeing a ghost, Genya?”

“No!” He just about shouts, flailing his arms as he tries to stop himself from falling out of his chair. “I'm fine! Really! Sorry…just, just kinda out of it.”

“Wanna talk about it?”

“It's fine, it's nothing important.” Genya notices your fidgeting however. “What about you?”

You hesitate. You're playing with your sleeves quite nervously. It's making him paranoid.

“I'm just…there's a new arcade that just opened up.”

“Sounds fun,” Genya offers. He's got barely enough brain cells still functioning from the close proximity between you both.

“I was wondering - um, do you wanna go with me? I can buy all the tokens,” you quickly blurted out and held your breath.

“Sure.”

“N-no. Just you and me. Like on a date.” You rub the back of your neck, looking away. “No - no pressure or anything! I know you might not be into guys, you might already like a girl-"

“You're gay.”

You wince at his tone. Genya wishes he hadn't sounded so accusing. “Last I checked, yeah.”

“Sounds fun,” Genya repeats dumbly, because holy shit, you like him you like guys too he likes guys he really wants to go to the arcade with you oh thank god-

You blink. “So that's a…yes?”

“Absolutely.” Genya waves his hands frantically. “If you're still up for it! Nothing’s awkward! I - I do want to go as a date, not as friends, and, uh-"

He snaps his head away, embarrassed, but he glances back long enough to see you grinning like you've won the lottery.

"Does 2 pm work for you?"

Shit. He really does like you after all. And with the way you're smiling at him like that maybe he can deal with whatever bullshit that's going to come next.

“Hey Genya, do you want to come over this weekend?”

“Muichiro wants to go to that pizza place again.”

The Tokito twins stare at him expectantly over the usual din of the Kamaboko Squad's usual shenanigans. Now or never.

“Sorry, I'm busy.”

“With what?” Muichiro looks out off; Yuichiro frowns in surprise.

“With someone.”

The silence was so thick you could've cut it with a knife - or Zenitsu's screaming.

“WHO?”

“HAR?!”

“Is it a date?” Tanjiro managed to slap a hand over the blonde's mouth while Aoi deals with Inosuke. The twins and Kanao's mouths hang open in surprise.

Genya picked at his food. “Yeah. At the new arcade.”

“Congratulations!”

“I thought you were planning to be single forever-”

“Shut up, Mui!”

“With who?"

He says your name and again the silence is thick.

Tanjiro's eyes light up in recognition and shock. “Isn't that the new boy?”

Genya nods stiffly.

“You're…gay?” Kanao asks tentatively.

Genya nods again.

“I had no idea! I never would've guessed either.” Tanjiro shakes his head, stunned. Much to Genya's relief…he's smiling? “But good for you, Genya, I'm sure you'll enjoy the date!”

This wasn't so bad after all. It's like a weight’s been lifted off his shoulders. Now it's just how well…Sanemi will take it and his family. Probably not as easy.

“I thought it was a little weird you rejected that cute girl the other day.” Muichiro looks excited. “Now I've got a gay best friend!”

“What are you, twelve?” Yuichiro grumbles, but turns to Genya. “Have a good time then.”

“THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE! DON'T SHOCK US LIKE THAT, GENYA!” Zenitsu finally squawks, clutching his heart.

“Wait, what's gay?” Inosuke's lost. “Is Genma happy or something?!”

“Damn, I knew you were good at shooting, but basketball too?” You wiggle your eyebrows at him, pretending to throw an imaginary ball as Genya throws an actual one through the basket easily.

“Heh, this one's just easy since it's so near.” The machine flashes lights and beeps, displaying a new highest score. “And kinda short.”

“You are pretty tall,” you agreed, counting the leftover tokens. “Hey, we still have enough for that claw machine!”

“Seriously?”

So far the date's going pretty well. Genya hadn't made a fool of himself when you showed up dressed up in that letterman jacket and excitedly tackled him yelling about how you managed to get about an entire bag's worth of tokens. You both had spent your time mostly fooling around playing air hockey, shooting games (he had a moment of crisis before sitting next to you in the cramped space), he got forced to dance with you, you claimed he cheated at the racing, he won you a figurine as an apology for accidentally smacking your hand during Whack-A-Mole. Genya was kind of regretting that now, because you were now convinced Genya had amazing luck and could continue to win you more prizes. But as Sanemi said - a million times - those things were a scam, so Genya compromised by saying if only there was tokens leftover from the basketball game.

Alas and alack, he supposed, but you were already speeding towards the claw machine.

“Come on, come on, almost there, almost there!” Your chanting is barely heard over the obnoxious arcade music but you're practically breathing down his neck.

“Okay, okay, I got it, shut up for a sec.” Genya's grip on the controls is so tight he's actually afraid he might rip out the joystick by mistake like Sanemi last time…although Sanemi had done that on purpose during his rage quit and since had been banned from that particular arcade.

“Dear Kami-sama, please, please, please-”

“SHIT.”

“NOOO! So close!” Your head's tossed back in an exaggerated groan, flipping off the stupid claw that let go just a second too early. “I could've won that Hashira figurine!”

“I was the one playing!” Genya protested.

“I got the tokens!”

“I offered to pay you back! You said no!”

You punched his shoulder playfully. “Hey, this was supposed to be my treat. You can pay for the next date.”

“Next - next what-"

“Oh jeez, your face is so red now. Let's get some fresh air; I know a good dessert store.”

“Where the hell have you been?”

It's already late by the time Genya lets himself into the house. His siblings should've been asleep, his mom too, so hopefully he could…uh, break the news the next day, when he's written and planned everything out, chewed off his nails and get that support you promised him earlier.

Luck had decided to abandon him since his second attempt at the claw machine however, since now he's been caught kicking off his shoes and smiling down at his phone, at the picture you've sent him of the figurine in your shelf.

He shuts off his phone quickly. Sanemi’s sitting on the sofa, arms crossed and does not look like a happy camper. Genya tries for an innocent smile. He probably looks like he has a stroke. If Sanemi were a cop, every criminal would be cracking in less than a minute under his interrogations.

“Out with a friend. Sorry I'm late, I was talking them back home.”

“Really? Saw all your friends - Tokito twins and that Kamado kid - earlier today. Try again."

“Someone else.”

“Cut to the chase, Genya, you were out on a date, weren't you?” Sanemi barks.

Genya's shoulders slump. “Yeah. Please don't be mad, I did tell Mom.”

“You should focus on studying. Your math grades are still too low.” Sanemi's expression softens, just slightly. "Who's the lucky girl?"

“Ah.”

“I swear to god, if it's that Shabana girl-”

“It's a guy.”

A very awkward beat of silence.

“WHO?!”

Genya almost expects to be attacked when he says your name. Or mauled after Sanemi demands every detail of what went down at the arcade. Maybe thrashed while finally confessing yes, he's not straight. But not stand there while Sanemi stares at him, strangely quiet.

“You two didn't do anything suspicious?”

Nope. You'd been quite understanding when he admitted he was still kind of getting used to the newness of…all this and offered to save a kiss for next time, causing him to explode into scarlet and try to poke you with his straw. “Aniki!”

“Is this a new thing or have you been…keeping this from me?” Unbelievable. His older brother almost looks hurt by that notion.

“A new thing, I swear, I wasn't planning on keeping anything from you, I was just waiting for the right time and right thing to say and I - I didn't know how you'd react.”

“Well…” Sanemi mutters something unintelligible, eyes moving away slightly.

“Um…what?”

“I SAID, AS LONG AS YOU'RE HAPPY WITH HIM, IT'S FINE BY ME! NOW GO TO SLEEP!”

Genya couldn't stop his grin. “Really? Thank - thank you, Aniki, and okay, I will.”

This is written as a female s/o since it's easier for me to write I hope that's ok. For this Genya and reader are both 18 in their senior year so slightly aged up Genya and Co.

-You were the newest student in Kimetsu Academy, just transferred over from another school when your parents moved you closer to your father's workplace. You weren't too nervous. Some of your friends went to the school so it's not like you wouldn't go in not knowing anyone. However your first day was anything but a good start.

-First you were really late because your mom's car got a flat tire on the way to driving you there. Then you dropped your coin purse containing your lunch money outside while you were rushing into the school. A teacher happened to have noticed that you dropped it but you didn't hear him calling out to you. Then you got laughed at when you busted into the chemistry class (which was the first class you had) and got both laughed at by a lot of the other students and chewed out by Professor Obanai for being late to his class. Then when lunch came around you had to sit down and go hungry except for some spare things given by your friends because you didn't have money or brought your own lunch. Just when you think it couldn't get any worse too-

-Sanemi, the scariest teacher in the entire School even more than Professor Obanai, had just roughly pushed the door to the cafeteria open and his narrowed eyes scanning the area until they lasered focused on you. "HEY YOU!" The entire place silences immediately terrified at the sounds of the scary man's voice. "NEW GIRL!!" You feel yourself freeze up on the spot as the heavily scarred man comes marching up towards you looming over your terrified form before a cute teddy bear themed coin purse is roughly pushed into your shaking hands. "I've been trying to fucking track you down all day! Don't forget your purse outside again!"

-Its cannon in Kimetsu Gauken that Sanemi likes kids and respects women but most are scared by his appearance and honestly sometimes he comes off as scary without meaning too. Sanemi honestly wasn't trying to scare you, he was genuinely just trying to return your purse to you but he wasn't socially aware enough to realize that calling out a trembling girl in the middle of everyone and looming over her scared you so much that you became very scared of your new math teacher.

-It was around the second week you were there that you learnt one of your fellow students was the younger brother of the scary teacher. From the first day forward whenever you had math class you kept your head down and very quiet to avoid him singling you out but today was study day before a big test so everyone was partnered up. "Kanao get with Inosuke! Kamado's with the blonde kid!  New girl go get with my brother! All of you take turns asking questions with these flashcards! All of this will be on the test tomorrow so PAY THE HELL ATTENTION AND STUDY!"

-Your pupils shrank in fear and a rock fell in your stomach. Brother? Mr. Sanemi had a BROTHER?! As soon as Genya sat down in front of you holding the flashcards for your shared study session, you knew without a doubt they were related. Their faces were similar shaped especially their eyes, and like a brother he also had scars on his body although a lot less than Sanemi did. As soon as Genya saw your big doe eyes all shiny and pretty looking up at him, the baby boy was smitten.

-He's had crushes before. He's had fleeting crushes on both his friends Aoi and Kanao before they gotten into relationships with his other guy friends and when he was younger he always thought Ms. Kanao was the prettiest girl ever, but after seeing you he gained the biggest crush in his life that it felt like Cupid smashed his head with a mallet of love.

-It then started a cycle between you two. He started to try and approach you. "Hey! New girl!" You freaked out by the sudden repeating appearance from him. It was bad enough the teacher seemed to be annoyed with you but did his brother have to harass you too?! You kept running away from him or had your friends block his way to you until he left or you escaped. He was hurt you seemed to be so scared of him and for the longest time didn't have the foggiest idea why. He tried getting Tanjiro's help in convincing you to hang out with him in a group setting to see if maybe he could ease your worries by having other people around but you always asked if Genya would be there and Tanjiro...Well he's an awful liar so even if he said no you knew otherwise and declined. 

-Then one day while reading it hits him. Your very first day the week prior to meeting Genya. Sanemi returned your purse and you seemed terrified of him. I'm turn it must've made you genuinely afraid of him as well. That day when Genya gets home he literally kicks down the doorway startling his mother, Sanemi, and their younger siblings with his anger. "SANEMI WHAT THE FUCK?!"

✨My opinions on KNY ships✨

This is something no one asked for but anyways. (This included platonic and romantic ships, and I'm a multishipper) No hate please on some of my opinions and only the ships that I know will be mentioned and NO adult x minor or sibling x sibling.

Uzuren (Tengen x Kyojuro): I love these two as either platonic or romantic, I wrote a fanfic about these two that is over 80k words so it hold a special place in my heart. This ship was also the reason I got into demon slayer. (Yes I am aware of Tengen having three wives but their dynamic was appealing)

Obamitsu (Obanai x Mitsuri): I think these two are really nice. When I first started demon slayer I didn't hold strong opinions on them but I think they're very cute now and their ending was heart breaking😭

AmaKaga (Amane x Kagaya): I love these two, they're my favourite canon couple in the series and I'm so upset that they died but at least they died together and for a greater cause.

AoIno (Aoi x Inosuke): This ship seemed to come up out of nowhere for me, like they interact and some of it's funny but would've never seen these two as a couple. It's a ship I'm meh on.

Butterfly girls (platonic, Kanae, Shinobu, Kanao, Aoi): I love the found family bond they have and I want to know more about Kanae but over all any pairing out of these four is only seen as platonic for me.

ObaSane (Obanai & Sanemi): honestly these two just seem like friends to me, like two bestie that like to talk shit about others. I know these two gossip when they get the chance and they definitely talk shit about Giyuu.

RenGiyuu (Rengoku & Giyuu): I like their dynamic of being opposites, it's appealing to me but tend to see them more as friends than anything but still a decent ship.

RenMistu (Rengoku & Mitsuri): Love the sibling bond they have but not really into them being romantic with each other.

Rengoku x Obanai: I don't have mush thoughts on this, it's meh to me.

RenKaza (Rengoku & Akaza): I used to like this ship but now I find it really weird like I'm pretty sure Rengoku hates Akaza and Akaza literally killed Rengoku, so it's a no for me.

RenSane (Rengoku & Sanemi): When Rengoku was my favourite character (he's still in my top five) I shipped him with a lot of characters so that included this ship. I personally don't see now, looking back on it.

GenMui (Genya & Muichirou): I honestly have no idea how I got into this ship, for me I ship Genya and Muichirou romantically and platonically. They're both my favourite characters and I like their personalities and possibly the height difference and their fighting style and strength. I could go on and on, I like these two :) (please don't come after me because these two don't have many interactions)

TanKana (Tanjiro x Kanao): It's cute I think this is one of the few ships I like with Tanjiro, I don't know it sits better with me than some other ships.

MuiTan (Muichirou x Tanjiro): I can see where some people are coming from, Tanjiro is a very shippable character but personally I don't ship Muichirou with anyone other than Genya from occasion-to-occasion.

ZenNezu (Zenitsu x Nezuko): ehhhhh, I'm not a big fan of Zenitsu especially in the earlier seasons but he's kinda grown on me, I don't hate this ship but I also don't really like this ship.

InoZen (Inosuke x Zenitsu): not much feeling about this other than I think Zenitsu is very straight but that's just my opinion. :[

InoTan (Inosuke x Tanjiro): I kinda shipped it but I now see them as more of brothers than romantic partners.

InoTanZen (Inosuke x Tanjiro x Zenitsu): My found brothers pairing but honestly these three are chaotic and I love them but it's definitely platonic.

GenTan (Genya x Tanjiro): These two are my babies but it's more platonic than anything, I love how their friendship had developed over the series.

MuiNezu (Muichirou x Nezuko): Similar to MuiTan I only really ship Muichirou with Genya but this ship makes less sense to me than Muitan because Nezuko and Muichirou interact less Genya and Muichirou so the ship seems to be coming out of nowhere for me.

Sanemi & Genya: God their relationship breaks every time, I love both of them and I just want them to be happy and I tend to ignore canon when comes to the ending anyways.

SaneKana (Sanemi x Kanae): Some people will argue that this ship was partly canon but I don't care, it's cute the idea of it but it's not something I personally ship.

Sanegiyuu (Sanemi x Giyuu): I'll be honest I hated Sanegiyuu when I first started getting into demon slayer, it could've been because I didn't like either Sanemi or Giyuu and thought the ship was over down. I will say it has grown on me a lot still not in my top three but I don't hate it and can kinda see where people are coming from. (I have started a plan for a Sanegiyuu fic anyways).

Shinogiyuu (Shinobu x Giyuu): Similar to Sanegiyuu but I don't ship it.

Cute little Haioni-Hime (Mitsuri) or the silent lady.

I am not sure off her design just yet, her human form is pretty but her demon form? Well, we will see.

Her design is one of the designs were it strives from canon, because Mitsuri's hair colour is only pink and green in her "human" form. One could even argue both of them are diffrent people co-existing in the same person. Well, her backstory will be interesting.

Haioni-hime could be an higher uppermoon if she wanted, but she is happy being upper 4 and..... cult leader.

In terms of fighting, similar to Shinobu she is very annoying to fight. Prolly because her blood demon art makes you believe you are in love with her, but also because her demon form refuses to walk like a normal human.

Most likely because her stomach mouth gets in her way.

Fun fact: Mitsuri can't speak in her human form!!!!! Her Heian era clothes hinder her from doing so!

If sanmei and kanae had a baby How do you think their kid would act? And how would the other hashira take the news? And how would this change sanemi and shinobu’s character arcs?(assuming kanae still died to douma)

This Ask started so cute and then turned so evil.

Well, let's get into how this all plays out.

If the baby picks up much from their personalities, then when growing up, it probably takes protecting others pretty seriously. How nicely the child goes about doing so probably depends on how desperate of circumstances they were exposed to (though I cannot imagine anyone in charge of caring for the baby would want to let anything happen).

Although I think the other Hashira would be happy for them, natural interest and curiosity about the baby might vary. For instance, Himejima might give Kanae some guilt about not retiring but be resigned to her choices and would probably decline spending time with the baby due to past trauma. Giyuu would probably be intensely curious but because he does not explain his staring (and desire to hold the baby), Sanemi gets protective and keeps the baby away from him. Shinjuro might go off on them about how they brought a child into the world just to orphan it. Uzui probably chides them a bit for being irresponsible but might quietly have the most faith in them to be able to handle it and know what they're doing.

Shinobu would probably go off on Kanae for being irresponsible but of course be the one to take over a lot of care for the baby. The other Butterfly Mansion girls also help. Shinobu might chew Sanemi out for this but begrudingly allow him in to "take responsibility" as he is indeed frustratingly talented at childcare. So with that forming the core of Shinobu and Sanemi's frenemy co-childcare relationship, that means that once Kanae dies, they have to formalize their share of co-parenting. Between the two of them, Sanemi is probably more warm and sweet to the baby (with only the Butterfly Mansion girls around, he could swing being a family man), but Shinobu--who has made up her mind to avenge her sister even if it means dying--might be nice and all, but more resistant to forming a bond. She can't have the child looking at her as another mother figure to lose, after all.

By the time Tanjiro comes around, baby Shinazugawa is probably a happily adjusted small child with free reign of the mansion to go around and stare at all the nursingvwork going on, and once Tanjiro plays with the kid, the kid is probably always beamibg and expecting the Kamaboko boys to play (for good measure, Shinobu might initially keep Nezuko at a distance, but Nezuko is eventually just as much of a playmate).

This would also mean that when Tanjiro follows an an oddly familiar scent one day he walks in on Sanemi having daddy time, and Sanemi would instantly change his demeanor once he's been spotted (baby probably isn't bothered, though).

Shinobu perhaps secretly lets Genya have uncle time too, which brings out Genya's soft side instantly. Shinobu might use her leverage in the baby care relationship to guilt Sanemi into caring more openly for his brother too.

The few occasions when Uzui has seen the child, he makes funny faces that make the kid laugh. Giyuu tried this once and the kid cried.

Himajima still generally avoids interaction with the child but politely inquires how the child is sometimes. Muichiro doesn't care but has had the child on his lap sometimes. Child gets regular visits to Oyakata-sama, like taking a child to see their grandparent. Iguro met Sanemi after Kanae's death so guilty Sanemi for irresponsibility doesn't cross his mind, he merely inquires how the kid is sometimes and takes Sanemi's side if Sanemi ever has complaints about Shinobu's parenting methods. Mitsuri hates being a bother but is always looking for excuses to invite herself over to the Butterfly Mansion to play. The baby met Rengoku once and loved him.

Prior to the final battle, when Shinobu explains the poison plan to Kanao, the baby is napping on her lap. Shinobu admits she has always planned to entrust the child to Kanao and Aoi and the others and wants Kanao to do her best to survive. During the final battle, Sanemi thoughts for his child help push him through, and on the edge of the afterlife, his mother insists he goes back to raise the child who gives her hope for the future.

After all is said and done, Shinazugawa becomes the child's primary caretaker. In a peaceful world, maybe the baby's personality winds up taking after Kanae most after all.

Some cute Highlights, like stuff I wanna add to the story would be that Sanemi is very possessive, him And Genya start off with an unhealthy co-dependency they work on and turn into Something more healthy as they both start to heal.

Loads of sibling bonding for them but also for other characters!

Scene ideas include: in an effort to socialise Genya and give him A Solid and healthy support system (that’s what the parenting books Sanemi’s been reading are raving about recently anyway) Sanemi, Rengoku, and Shinobu set up play dates for their younger siblings to interact and have fun because they genuinely see them as toddlers.

Said younger siblings find it a little demeaning but tolerate it cause A: they can’t stop them B: they kinda enjoy the babying and attention and c: they love their older siblings too Much to be genuinely upset). Giyuu ends up taking a walk out with Tanjiro once and stoped to talk with his fellow Hashira while Tanjiro went to speak with Kanao genya and senjuro.

Rengoku tells Giyuu that his little brother (Tanjiro) seems to get along great with the rest of their kids and asks if he and Giyuu would like to schedule this weekly. Giyuu realises they’re dead serious and he’s so excited to get the opportunity to claim Tanjiro as a family member and hang out with the other Hashira he agrees but doenst feel the need to tell

Tanjiro that every Tuesday and Friday isn’t actually a formal meeting session for Hashira and tsugoko’s to share vital information but actually it’s just the Hashira meeting up and bringing their younger siblings to have play dates. Tanjiro doenst realise she’s the baby bieng sat till it’s way too late. The rest of the babies (Genya, Kanao, and Senjuro) are mortified and refuses to acknowledge what’s happening to them.

This fic would be full cheesy over protective sibling shenanigans, an unhealthy does of family bonding , some pretty heavy unhealthy and obsessive behaviours TURNED healthy and healing behaviour as well as LOADS of hurt/comfort.

thoughts below the cut because they ended up pretty long! i didn't cover everyone BUT if you'd like to hear my interpretation of certain characters meeting, just send an ask!

kunikida and rengoku would get along in a strange way. they're both reliant on books in their everyday lives and i'm sure they'd talk about it. kunikida would feel less crazy and also find kyojuro crazy for being able to become an accomplished swordsman by learning the rest of the fire breathing forms in only 3 volumes. kyojuro would find kunikida admirable for his rigid discipline in upholding his ideals through his notebook and his personal moral code. i think kyojuro would foot the bill if they eat together, and kunikida would be endlessly grateful.

kenji and tanjiro would be a UV hazard. in the bsd world, kenji would have to guide tanjiro around like a puppy, and tanjiro would be way too overwhelmed to be out in the Modern City for longer than 30 minutes. i think they'd make for excellent training buddies! tanjiro would definitely admire kenji's brute strength and find it fascinating that he has an active farm on the rooftop of their work building.

poe and zenitsu meeting would be hilarious i think.. zenitsu would actively cringe at this grown ass man for being down stupid for another man, and constantly writing for and sticking close to ranpo, but i think zenitsu would understand, given his clinginess to the kamado siblings. they'd also have an affinity for creating morbid works, because acc to kimetsu gakuen, zenitsu has a particularly scary art style, while poe actively writes murder mystery! post infinity-castle zenitsu would definitely ask poe to read the Legend of Zenitsu and be cooked alive by poe's disapproval.

atsushi and inosuke will not get along, period. even if they're bonding over food. i do not see it. atsushi would be reminded of akutagawa's petty nature everytime inosuke tries to start shit, and oh god i don't even want to imagine them brawling it up. i think the only time inosuke would possibly calm down is if atsushi cooked food for him, making him feel all fuzzy and reminding him of tanjiro's tenderness. though in terms of a physical brawl? inosuke would respect the hell out of atsushi if atsushi fights in his weretiger form, he probably thinks it's badass.

kyouka and kanao are telepathically bonding by the way. kyouka would introduce kanao to modern day sweets and i think they'd bond over cute trinkets and sweets. i bet you, they'd also talk about their sister figures (aoi and lucy), as well as the boys who saved them (tanjiro and atsushi). they'd trade hair accessories i'm sure.

ranpo would LOVE NEZUKO. the same way he treated kyouka when she first arrived at the agency, ranpo would spoil nezuko with sweets and they'd bond over their excessive sweet tooths. nezuko think ranpo's a friendly guy, and probably admires him like she admired mitsuri!

You accidentally swiped open the back glass door of the see-through sweet treat display for customers, to stand in front of the cash register with a matching smile to Mitsuri’s and the listening gaze of Obanai

“Welcome back, you two! How may I serve you? The usual?” You ask cheerfully, playing with the protruding buttons on the cash register playfully as Mitsuri tapped her cheek in fake consideration. She knew exactly what she wanted to talk about with you as her boyfriend, Obanai held her hand. His mismatched eyes scanned over your pretty face in pure admiration, love leaked through

This situation seemed like a young couple visiting their favourite café to the general eye, including yours, but it was really two madpeople riddled in obsession satisfying their feed of the one they love so dearly by pretending to want to have one of your many sweet options. It wasn’t just Mitsuri and Obanai who were like this and came to you daily

You met the lovely couple when they came into your café for a date. You recently opened this little shop as it was your passion to run your own business, like this homely café. But your hope ran dry as the days went by with no customers, but when they came into the picture. Your life was basically saved

You served them with such excitement and relief, immediately giving them that one pretty two-seated table positioned by the open window as you eagerly took their orders. Mitsuri ordered so much, you had a long list of desserts to give her whilst Obanai ordered so little, you were a bit concerned but you bowed to them

They kept coming every single day after their first experience with you to test out every new option you had stocked in or merely to chat with you. You didn’t mind as you appreciated how supportive they are yet you didn’t know that your cooperation fed into their developing obsession over you

You always had time on your hands to talk to the two after serving them as you didn’t have many customers, other than them… well, other than them and another young couple that have visited you so much, you’ve lost count;

You’re other two favourite customers. Sanemi and Kanae. Kanao, Kanae’s younger sister once came into your cafe for a quiet hangout with her friends, and suggested it to her older sister for a way to have a peaceful day out. Kanae decided to take her boyfriend over for a quick sweet little cafe date at your shop. Unaware of your unintentional affect on them that had already infected Obanai and Mitsuri would plague them so bad that they’d become completely mad for you

Just like with Obanai and Mitsuri, the two were obsessed with you after spending weeks and weeks coming back on beliefs they were just being supportive and friendly, not wanting to realise their healthy friendship with you had grown into a love-driven obsession. The couples wanted you apart of their lovelife, as their cute little girlfriend

Sanemi and Kanae kept having wonderful times at your business that it needs to repeat for them. Such delicious food, such delicious drinks, such a pretty homely environment with a beautiful server on atop of it that caught their eyes so fast, they couldn’t believe they didn’t know of your existence until they had to pay for it. How foolish, they would have paid to see you so much sooner if they knew about you

They ordered things equally and even shared some of their orders in which you kept in mind so you can give them cute things to use like a long love heart-shaped double-headed straw for their milkshake they’d eventually share. Their reaction to your little surprise made your heart beat in joy for the couple. You simply adored such love, you wanted something exactly like those two loveable couple, when you find your soulmate

Ever since you met the four, you had noticed a lot of changes. More people came to your café and all never seemed to scold you for being late, it was like you were inside a videogame where the settings of the customers can be changed to passive. It was confusing on the most part. Your shipments for ingredients seemed to be infinite, even though, you didn’t order anything that week and you noticed that you were gaining more fatter tips from out of nowhere

Every other customer, other than your dailies, were quite stiff, shaken and robotic as they spoke. It was kinda odd, sure, you couldn’t say anything was off since your head is in the clouds when you’re not working and you break something every single day but you weren’t that dense

You figured it was your family helping you from the sidelines. You weren’t aware that it was the two couples you had befriended desperately trying to get you to like them

“Oh, please, don’t worry about that. I’ll tell you what we want. Can we get a table?” Mitsuri asked as you nodded excited like usual, rushing off your heels towards the exitway and accidentally bumping your stomach against the closed wooden pane keeping customers from entering the back of the service table, full force as you whined out in pain. Obanai and Mitsuri flinched in response, traversing around the marble countertop to make sure you are okay, extreme laces of concern consuming them

Obanai held his hand out and touched your shoulder with his girlfriend clinging onto his free arm in concern as you gently giggled, your voice leaking pain. “I’m okay. Don’t worry” You reassured them, opening the trapdoor and shutting it once you walked out, picking up your trusty notebook and passing the young couple. Still unaware of their lovestruck eyes boring through you

Your hair tied up in a neat bun with all those cute chibi animal hairpins and your bangs pushed back by pretty colourful hairclips. You looked so scrumptious as Mitsuri and Obanai almost raced each other to catch up to you, you gestured them to sit in the middle of the cafe, decorated by a glass chandelier hanging above their heads

You flipped open the notebook to a clean page with that all-so-unbreaking smile they love so dearly as the two sat down in front of each other calmly, wondering who will speak up to you first. You were about to ask for their orders when the doorbell rang for a second time, indicating that another customer has arrived to be served. You apologised outloud to Obanai and Mitsuri, promising you’ll come back to them and rushing over to serve the new customer in mind

Your eyes glowed in happiness, recovering from your near low step trip, as Kanae ran up to you excited in her pretty sparkly date dress, and swallowed you up in a tight but harm hug. Very big sister-like as you laughed at her open kindness, it didn’t ring any alarms as you figured she hugs all her friends this way and you liked it

Sanemi followed his girlfriend, in a somewhat-fancy tieless suit and patted back your bangs to avoid undoing the clips. His smile never dropped at the sight of your gorgeous face. The man didn’t say a word as Kanae begun speaking, her voice a bit stronger than usual and admiring your new hair accessories with little points

“Ooohhh~! You look so cute, Dokusha!” Kanae cheered happily and clapped her hands, she did feel the angry jealous glares of Obanai and Mitsuri piercing through her but she chose to ignore it in favour of spending time with you, her newfound love interest. Sanemi chimes in afterwards, looking curiously at one hairclip he didn’t recognise from the many he has kept track of. “Are these new?” You nod against his strong palm, gently patting his muscular wrist so he will let go, though, he didn’t want to let go

Mitsuri bit her bottom lip, her eyes welling up in fury as her hands balled up into fists whilst Obanai continued to silently glare deadly holes into the couple openly trying to flirt with you, he was ready to throw hands with these pricks. The only people could flirt with you is him and his girlfriend, nobody touches their future wife but them!

Obanai got up from his comfy chair when Sanemi’s hand gently brushed over your cheek, reeling a flustered rosy blush from you. His mismatched irises were so dark, they could shadow over the night sky

Mitsuri quickly followed her boyfriend close by when he walked away from their table, not wanting to interfere. She did want him to knock some sense into those pieces of shit, but she didn’t want to frighten you

“Oi. Fucktard” Obanai barked rather cruelly and out of the blue, drawing Sanemi’s attention onto him as he immediately socks the much taller man in the jaw with a hard right-cross. This made Kanae gasp out in shock and you scream in fear, stepping back as you were worried you, Kanae or Mitsuri would get attacked too

Sanemi bumped against the counter in conjunction to the few backward steps and used his arms to hold himself up by the firm ledge, processing the punch slowly. Kanae rushed to his side in a instant and hissed under her breath at her boyfriend’s dazed state. She managed to speak up, her eyes overflowing with anger over such violence as her dainty hands ran over his shoulder to try comfort him

“Excuse me! How dare you touch my boyfriend!” Mitsuri responded to Kanae’s statement for her own boyfriend, holding his shoulders protectively and her eyes switched between the enemy couple and you shivering in concern and fear up against the flat empty wall. She couldn’t stop this, she decided to join in as she knew well that her anger couldn’t be suppressed any further. “And how dare YOU two try take our Dokusha away from us!”

“She is not your Dokusha! She is the server here! It’s her job to—“ Sanemi snapped back almost instantly with his head rising in sync, his now-bruised jaw did sting from the punch but he needed to defend himself and his girlfriend from what this psycho couple were pulling against them. How dare they act like they own you when you own yourself

Obanai yelled through to produce a interruption, visible anger veins crawling over his forehead, hands and neck as Sanemi followed soon after, his own body being coated in popping veins. He was well done with the chemistry teacher’s aggressive talkbacks to his beloved girlfriend. “And Dokusha isn’t a piece of meat to be played with! Leave her alone! She isn’t yours! You have each other!”

“We aren’t playing with her! We like her! She’s quite the—” Kanae argued back, making her voice get louder and firmer with the intensity of the situation growing at a concerning rate. This was getting dangerous as Sanemi rubbed his jaw to try muffle the sharp jabs and rose back to his feet properly. This day wasn’t going as they planned with Obanai and Mitsuri throwing a bombshell into it

“She’s not even your friend. Just get away from her!” Mitsuri barked back, her and her boyfriend’s thought-out plan to order something for themselves and also you to better woo you over when they offered you to sit down and chat with them, was ruined by these two before them. Your heart was truly theirs as they are the ones who made your café known to the Kimetsu Academy. What did these two have to offer you what they haven’t already?!

Your anxiety and concern rose hearing the two women argue and shout at each other as the men went to throw punches at each other. What do you do?! What do you do?! You panic and decide on the whim to call the Police. You didn’t want to get your friends arrested but they can cause a extreme issue if you don’t have them taken care of

Speeding over to the much older-fashioned cable phone behind the marble counter, you accidentally knocked into the nearby pillar, holding a valuable and expensive decorative pot your mother had bought for you. Sadly, for your slower reaction time, the artefact landed directly on your back and shattered into pieces whilst the wooden pillar fell onto you, pushing you to the ground

The very loud thud from the back stopped the four’s fighting as they almost screamed in concern and pushed each other away to reach the source of the noise. Kanae and Mitsuri cried out in horror at the sight before them, Obanai and Sanemi shoved each other out of the way, just for their eyes to feel like they popped out of the sockets. The girls bolted to you, quickly brushing off the broken pieces on your back that, thankfully didn’t stab into you, and move the light yet suffocating pillar off

Swiping and insulting each other at every turn whilst the boys fought each other for the phone that they pulled away from the back of your counter to the front. They needed to call a ambulance to make sure you were gonna be okay but their constant roars and wet smacks for punches were distracting them. Your head was fuzzy and stung, your eyes grew blurry whilst the voices of the four begun fading away

What a horrible day

Short (okay, not very short) yaps on Demon Slayer characters as actors in modern day.

KAMABOKO SQUAD

TANJIRO is a child actor thanks to his father's fame in his role in Hinokami Kagura III who mostly just played cameos until he landed his role in the series Demon Slayer. Same like canon Tanjiro he's quite the sunshine boy, the sort who'd buy Starbucks for everyone on set and donate at least 60% of his income to charity. His social media is usually more of photos with his siblings or friends on set than actual movie advertising. After the series ended of course he chose to take the iconic green and black checkered haori.

NEZUKO too is a child actor alongside her brother but received a few more important roles due to her cuteness factor, like the mob boss's daughter or the orphaned girl. Has joined a few musicals before with her amazingly sweet singing but ultimately decided she preferred just acting. However Demon Slayer was her first major role; Nezuko likes to take off the bamboo muzzle and pretend to snap at the camera in the bloopers. Tabloids have been gossiping about her and Agatsuma after being spotted at a park together.

INOSUKE was originally just a prodigy break dancer at the studio his single mom Kotoha and grandmother worked at, thanks to his extraordinary flexibility. His first roles were just dancers in musicals but never actually spoke or sang - he was a little self conscious about how deep and scratchy his voice sounded and how oddly feminine his face was, until Ubuyashiki Movies scouted him out formerly to be a demon, but after watching his audition decided he was perfect for the role of the Beast Breathing Slayer. Off screen Inosuke is still a messy eater but surprisingly his language is pretty refined and not so blunt and brutish.

ZENITSU first auditioned for the remake of Lightning, the movie his grandfather Jigoro played a side role in, hoping to impress a girl, but unluckily and luckily he shockingly scored the role and lost the girl. Kaigaku, his already famous foster brother, wasn't too happy about it, especially when they ended up Lightning's sequel, Thunder. Later on he joined the Demon Slayer series - Zenitsu was a little put off at having to bleach his hair but after Nezuko said he looked cool he became a little too eager about it. Real life Zenitsu is still obsessed with girls, something the magazines make a headline of every time.

KANAO played minor roles unlike her sisters, due to her shyness and fear she wouldn't be as expressive. When the other two Kocho girls joined Demon Slayer she decided to audition for a background slayer, but when the director Kagaya saw her ability to play the super silent swordswoman to perfection she was cast at once. Not as obsessed with coins as she is on screen, Kanao still did have to have Tanjiro make the first move. The only pictures she has online are usually blurry back ones or with her face scribbled out.

GENYA is no stranger to the screen as he often plays a small role in his elder brother's gangster shows. His first show was Windbreaker and when they needed someone to play Sanemi's left hand man his brother immediately pushed him to sign up; with his deep voice and build he was quickly cast. Genya liked the Mohawk he has to get from that show so much he made it his trademark style, although some directors decided to not fast him after he refused to grow it out. Off screen of Demon Slayer, he apologizes a lot for the yelling and is still really shy around girls.

HASHIRA

RENGOKU is a very renowned actor, his father being a notable name in the movie world, but not really for his movie - more for the numerous bloopers of the directors having to retake a scene because he couldn't stop himself from laughing out loud. He's the sort who would personally respond to fans and boisterously gets along with everyone on set with a slap on the back and yelled encouragement. Just like his character he's very vocal about his thoughts, although after he picked up the habit of yelling 'UMAI!' everybody started sitting a little further away during meals. Was very excited to have the signature red and yellow hair and was slightly disappointed to find out he would be wearing a wig instead. Could not take the fight scene with Akaza seriously at all and to this day Tengen and him still act out his death scene in front of reporters.

GIYUU started learning to act under the famed but retired drama teacher Urokondaki. He is rather quiet compared to the other actors on set but he's definitely surprisingly more sociable and alive; his complete 180 in personality always startles everyone else. Because he usually gets a smaller role compared to Sabito and Makomo, everyone including him was shocked when he landed the role of the Water Pillar. More than once has stolen the director's megaphone to bark orders like "Hit it like you mean it! Call yourself a slayer?!" at the actors. In the water effects of his scenes, you can be sure he and Sabito are running around using the hoses and sprays to squirt at everyone - Shinobu really gets into character when she gets hit.

TENGEN is so famous for so many things it's hard to start: his flamboyance, his good looks and three wives. Not surprisingly he always gets the main roles in movies like Nine Shinobi. However underneath his flashy exterior Tengen has been cut off from his wealthy father's fortune who opted to give it to his younger brother due to their disapproval of him pursuing a career in the silver screens. Tengen being "angry" in the Demon Slayer scenes was honestly just realistic because he was dying from laughter - yelling and turning red is surprisingly easy like that. Sometimes in public Suma, Makio and Hinatsuru will yell "Tengen-sama!" and cling to him in order to embarrass him but to their annoyance he plays along.

MITSURI is definitely a fan favorite amongst all and every gender for her bubbly, exuberant personality and pretty looks. Real life Mitsuri isn't as giggly as the characters in every love drama series she plays, but definitely her pursuit in romance was inspired by those on screen. She's very supportive in her siblings career in acting too, even if they're just playing supporting child roles for now. Mitsuri hasn't found Mr. Right yet though, due to many people simply wanting to date her for her fame or money - although rumours are going around of chemistry between her and one fellow Pillar actor on the set of Demon Slayer.

SHINOBU started acting background roles in Kanae's movies, until Ubuyashiki Movies realized her snarky personality fit the Insect Pillar a little too well - especially with her rather intimidating smile reserved for the press. Off screen Shinobu is more playful than actual cutting, sarcastic remarks, but boy do you not want to get on her bad side - once an obsessive fan started stalking Kanae and Shinobu publicly cussed him out so bad in an interview the whole thing had to be censored. On the set of Demon Slayer she enjoys whacking people who forgot their lines with the flat of her blade.

OBANAI is one of the most mysterious celebrities as off screen literally no one can identify him anywhere, even if his only disguise is wearing a black face mask. He's pretty famous for his roles in crime or mystery films, so Demon Slayer was a surprise for everyone. His makeup is pretty excessive even compared to those like the demons, and often times they had to redo zoom in shots because he's blinking too much. Ironically Obanai was previously mildly afraid of snakes but after acting with Kaburamaru he decided to adopt the lil' fella and take him back home along with the haori. His acting with Mitsuri was not faked: he really is whipped for the actress from the start.

GYOMEI is the most unserious of the lot off screen, and it got worse when he got the blind Pillar's part, frequently walking up to people and saying really bad jokes like "how do I look? I can't see for myself". One of the oldest actors on set, a lot of people look up to Gyomei for acting tips and support due to his long experience in all sorts of genres and movies. People who hadn't seen his previous films and only know him as the blind character will be taken advantage of - he simply stares in the wrong direction and acts like he can't see the nosy reporter attempting to stick the mic up his immense height.

MUICHIRO was actually cast because of how popular he was as a child actor; together with his twin Yuichiro they played all sorts of roles from the identical ghosts in horror movies to the child hero with a power of splitting himself in two. Many fans sent letter after letter or voted on social media that he should play the foggy headed Mist Pillar. It took a while since he had to grow out his hair and dye it, but when he finally made his appearance everyone went feral. Muichiro has photobombed so many scenes and photos blowing raspberries to the point it's everywhere in the bloopers. He actually cried when Yuichiro "died" because no one told him it would be shot that gruesomely - his reaction was a 100% genuinely real.

SANEMI had done a lot of makeup and sacrificed a lot of things for his roles in every mafia movie where he'd always be cast as the mad dog: bleach his hair white, paint on scars, go on a diet and crazy workout plan to get those muscles, but having to shave his eyebrows took the cake. The first video of Demon Slayer wasn't the trailer - it was the video of him recording it. Off screen Sanemi isn't that screamy or hot tempered; that's just for show in interviews or reporters. His social media is spammed with photos of him and Genya or other actors on set. An excellent (albeit pestering) wingman, he even carried Obanai on his shoulders so that he could be tall enough to kabedon Mitsuri in a viral video.

DEMONS

KOKUSHIBO was a star from the start, usually taking the same roles as his twin Yoriichi. But in the end he got tired of being in his brother's shadow and have everyone confuse them for only one Tsugikuni so he joined Samurai of the Moon alone and that was how he made his name on screen. Contrary to his parts Kokushibo is pretty verbal and sarcastic. The few times he appreciates having a twin is when he can let Yoriichi deal with the fans who think there's only one of them and slip away unnoticed with just sunglasses as his disguise. Was very supportive when Muichiro and Yuichiro began acting but secretly worried they would encounter the same problem as him.

DOUMA was famous from the moment he was born because of his actor parents' infamous divorce. He only really rose to fame after his acting in Eternal Paradise, a movie about a cannibal pretending to be a cultist. Douma is pretty flirty even off screen (causing Kibutsuji Productions to threaten to fire him several times if he made another scandal, especially around Shinobu Kocho) but if his lines require him to say anything inappropriate about women on screen he actually is pretty apologetic about it afterwards...in a carefree manner, of course. His favourite part of his costume is the rainbow irises and wears it even in interviews - some people actually believe those ARE his eyes.

AKAZA was just an ordinary martial arts student until Kibutsuji Productions came looking for someone able to act and attack in their mobster movie Three. Many of his photos include him with his signature tattoos, but they're actually fake; only his reddish pink hair is not. Starred alongside Rengoku in a sitcom Donuts about two rival chefs and Basketball Flame about a wannabe player. Both were delighted to work together in Demon Slayer but he hasn't stopped harassing Rengoku about becoming a demon yet. Akaza refuses to do any intimate scenes with other women that aren't his fiancée Koyuki so they had to hire her.

HANTENGU is an actor famous for his role in The Old Tell No Lies and his skill to cry and sob on demand until his untimely end from a concussion at a failed stunt. Thankfully his grandsons the quadruplets and Zohakuten are still continuing his legacy, moving quickly from the greatly watched Clones to the up and coming Demon Slayer. No one's figured out their secret to acting is simply because they're really bickering amongst themselves. Not acting.

GYOKKO is someone not so much famous for his roles than his flashiness in fashion at every year's Kizuki Gala with eye popping makeup and designer clothes. He enjoys pottery in his free time and some of the pieces you see on set are actually his own works. Since he isn't a fish in real life, in Demon Slayer he's mainly voice acting while the body is CGI. He actually gets along pretty well with the Tokito twins, taking them out for meals sometimes but honestly, they couldn't have possibly taken his eyeshadow, right?

GYUTARO in his humble beginnings was just a stunt double in heavy makeup for action movies, because of his skill and complete fearlessness and was too afraid of auditioning independently due to his insecurities about his birthmarks and face. He started as a double for the main character in Poison Sickle, but when Kibutsuji Productions heard his voice and saw his attitude they decided to completely just cast him as the main character, a hardened apocalypse survivor of coarse language attempting to kill all who gets in his way with his sickle. He played it so realistically although Daki encouraged him at first even she was honestly a little freaked.

DAKI was like Nezuko although scoring bigger roles. Her prettiness managed to land her in many movies, although nothing major until her playing in the princess-assassin movie Warabihime secured a role for her in Demon Slayer. Off screen, Daki isn't as insulting or biased on beauty, getting along with the other girls on set pretty well and insisting Gyutaro pay for whatever crazy shopping spree they had gone on. She loves to do her own makeup, so good they don't even need to hire an artist for her. Daki won't join a movie if Gyutaro isn't in it too or acting at the same time.

ENMU isn't as delusional and obsessive as the characters he enjoys playing on screen, but he does often like to mess with others on set by proclaiming he'd love to die by their hand or offering his blood. Newspapers enjoy speculating why he has always refused to take any other method of transportation save trains but the real reason is that he's really filming another movie alongside Demon Slayer, the thriller Subway. Nonetheless Enmu's social media, despite his publicist's frustrations, is spammed with pictures of trains. He's mentioned in an interview he likes his character's haircut in Demon Slayer so much he's considering keeping it.

RUI too is a child actor, but he mostly plays the sickly child in advertisements or hospitals due to his weirdly pale skin. Rui's odd fascination with arachnids (something his fans are crazy over) began after he landed a main role in Spider Family, which was why with his parents' encouragement he auditioned to play of the minor demons on Mt. Natagumo but much to their delight he instead go the lead. He likes to play around with the other actors and more than once anyone caught napping will wake to Rui's makeup scheme plastered on their faces.

Merman Zenitsu and pufferfish Chuntaro!

I was backing up some files earlier, and stumbled across this dumb AU doodle from a few years ago. Seemed appropriate to colour it with watercolours!

Cute little Chuntaro is a prickly pufferfish in this AU... but that raises the question: what marine species would the rest of the corps use to communicate underwater?

Swordfish are extremely fast swimmers, have convenient weapons/ letter clips stuck to their faces, excellent eyesight, are highly migratory loners with a massive range, and... ugh, fine. They're the obvious choice, aren't they?

Most members of the seaman slayer corps use swordfish.

Tanjirou:

My first instinct is to say sunfish, but the mental image of one of those massive creatures drifting menacingly behind him at all times is just too ridiculous.

And yet... somehow it makes perfect sense? A gentle giant that acts like a shield, patiently sheltering his sister from the sun whenever they travel near the surface.

Shinobu/ Kanao/Kanae: Butterfly fish, of course! All with polite and graceful personalities.

Shinobu fights using a variety of marine animal venoms including stonefish. Stonefish stings are treated with the applicaton of heat to denature proteins in the venom... so if Douma's an ice guy in this AU too, he's in for a rough time.

Inosuke: Briefly had a cute little pigfish, but he ate it within a day. Now he just has a regular corps- assigned swordfish. They're also tasty, apparently... if only he could catch it!

Tengen: Really wanted a Fireworks fish/ some other absurdly flamboyant tropical fish. Instead, he was assigned a bland- looking, tiny little fish that's well- suited to stealth missions.

It's been thoroughly ✨bedazzled✨by now and loves him. The most popular family member by far. Very plump and spoilt.

Gyomei: Green humphead parrotfish. These guys are massive, pretty docile, and spend most of their time crunching through rock- hard coral with big teeth to scrape off yummy algae, pooping out the rest as sand. They are cleaners that are instrumental in maintaining the health of coral reef ecosystems.

Gyomei's parrotfish is no exception; however, it used to be an insatiable glutton, to the point of destroying the coral reef it once resided in and being ostracised by its peers as a result. Wracked with guilt and with nowhere else to go, it received an invitation to serve in the corps. Its new master helped it learn self control.

Rengoku: There's no shortage of bold, flame- coloured fish species out there... but I reckon this guy just has the same generic swordfish species assigned to the rest of the corps. The only difference being that his used to be his father's loyal companion, and it's aged a bit, so it's not as speedy as it once was. It should've retired years ago, but refuses to abandon its self- imposed duty of keeping its master's son on the right path.

Was a rebellious playboy in its youth. Now it's a straight- laced military type, follows corps rules to the letter. Doesn't trust that slimy sea slug Nezuko one bit.

Sanemi: SAILFISH, hands down. Aggressive, vaguely wind- themed predator, and the fastest swimmer in the ocean. Both of them are pretty smug about that last point.

Genya: An archerfish would make sense thematically... but again, Genya just seems like another corps- assigned swordfish kinda guy to me? He definitely has a pet snapping turtle though. It's very small, and VERY grumpy.

Muchiro: A sweet natured blue- ringed octopus who wants nothing more than to be friends, but suffers from crippling social anxiety that makes it seem aloof and unapproachable.

Everyone is TERRIFIED of it except Tengen, who thinks it's flamboyant as heck, and Shinobu, who is simultaneously obsessed with it and wants to stab it dead.

Muchiro just ignores it, for the most part.

Mitsuri: Blobfish lacking in self- confidence. Mitsuri thinks it's cute, and is absolutely correct in her opinion. Accepts cuddles from Mitsuri and Obanai only, and blushes at compliments. It's also insanely flexible, just like its master. Copes well under high pressure!

Giyuu: This man has a manta ray, no doubt about it. A creature of few words with a serene and peaceful disposition... yet inexplicably a huge social magnet that effortlessly draws everyone's attention (away from Giyuu). Especially popular with young merchildren, whom it often allows to ride on its back. Holds a deep respect for both its master and Urokodaki (who has a manta ray too, by the way).

Obanai: Had the toughest time deciding this one. A striped beakfish would match his colour scheme perfectly, but... I just don't think it suits him. A striped marlin, maybe? Anyone with more ideas, let me know!

Kaburamaru is a sea snake, obviously. A black- banded sea krait.

Because of your last ask I was thinking about some of my other favorite poly ships and I realized that Giyuu/Kanae/Sanemi is just older TKG , they're even siblings (adopted in Giyuu case, or i like to think so cause its cute) and now i imagine them accidentally running into one another on their respective dates but Sanemi can't kill his boyfriends brother, oh God that would make Tanjirou his brother in law twice. This ask is purely for my humor if I'm honest, I think the ship is cute but I can see so much chaos happening

Tanjiro would be like the Kanae, all happy and trying to take care of them. Kanao would be more similar to Giyuu while Genya is just his older brother Sanemi!

Honestly the ship sounds pretty cute I'll see what I get, maybe I'll switch it up every once in a while too! Honestly though, Sanemi would definitely be conflicted tryna figure out what to do about Tanjiro- I feel like Genya would also get a little protective(mostly because of Giyuu and since Sanemi used to hate him)
