Rayman Fan Characters: Kahli The God-blessed
this character’s story includes major spoilers to the events of games especially around hoodlum havoc.
this is a VERY long post:
Kahli classified as a plot important fan character within Rayman Retold but she was scheduled to come later down the timeline, specifically during and after the events of Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc. she appears quite often after the in game events, and does have significance within certain story plots.
Kahli was the lady that would act as advisor for the knaaren royalty. she was especially close with Gumsi’s mother, who was the previous ruler of the Knaaren, their queen. Kahli is also one of the most important knaaren ladies in the social status. She is the lady that was the mid-wife for any knaaren females during childbirth.
Knaaren women have extreme difficulty with childbirth. The norm in most cases is that the mothers will die. Knaaren are not born with their fabled invincibility and grow into it, so children are vulnerable.
Khali is a soothsayer. Knaaren soothsayers tend to act as voices for the Leptys and a small number could foretell events in the future. Kahli could communicate with any of the Rayman universe gods telepathically. Not just the Leptys! She could communicate with gods like Polokus, and Jano the first nightmare would constantly reach out to try to corrupt this woman into his puppet.
Her soothsaying allows her to peer into events that have taken place in the past, or are planned to take place in the future. She has a little spot within the ruins that she uses for these event scryings. Normally she does not tend to get involved on the events that are planned to happen, however it doesn’t mean she never does. she DOES get involved and tries to change, but it really depends on the circumstances. She can’t change the past, but she can try to change the future ones. Most times she allows the event to happen and is forced to suffer in silence over it. She gets a lot of fingers pointed at her going “WHY DIDN'T YOU STOP THIS!?” This treatment has lead to her as coming off as a grouch or uninterested in interacting socially.
When Gumsi’s mother passed away due to the complications their kind have with childbirth, his father never came forward to claim him. Kahli searched for him, but he was never found. His fate is currently unknown. A massive line started so others could try to adopt Gumsi due to his status as the next in line for the throne. When Kahli made it known that she had intentions of adopting the child herself, she became unchallenged and Gumsi’s care was given to her uncontested. Kahli adopted Gumsi as her grandson.
Gumsi calls her Mee-Maw. He gushes over her being the coolest grandma in the universe. Always goes on and on about her powers and abilities. Gumsi admired her more than he did with Reflux, who was another of his idols.
Gumsi knows the details of what happened during his birth. He is incredibly protective of his Mee-maw and will threaten to fight you if you claim you are seeking her guidance out.
She might not be able to die from physical means or age, but she’s not un-killable. Her weakness is consumption of poisonous materials. She has been victim to assassination attempts via poisoning before and has survived. Gumsi was forced to witness the poisoning assassination attempts.
Gumsi does NOT react well when he knows his Mee-maw is in distress. Gumsi is a child; A very emotionally fueled child. These attempts have left Gumsi with trauma. His greatest fear is something happening to Kahli that leads to her death, and him being alone. It scares him to death. When Kahli was poisoned and they were trying to cure her, he would go to her side, crying, screaming, begging her to not leave him. She has survived every attempt.
Kahli later made the decision to gift Gumsi the scepter of Leptys. It originally belonged to her. Kahli was going to raise Gumsi with a close connection with the gods, especially Leptys. It was her way of passing down her legacy to him. This also helps Gumsi with combating his fears of one day being alone.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Kahli and Polokus are considered the bro-sis of the god/mortal regard. One of their gags are when Murfy’s going off at a person and is making jabs about appearances. She just looks all annoyed, but gets an "Aha!" moment like “Wait! I have just received a message from Polokus to pass along to you, Murfy” Murfy grins going “What’s that, Grandma?” and Kahli proceeds to smack Murfy hard enough tto knock him out of the air. When Murfy goes complaining to Polokus, the bubble dreamer just looks annoyed, bubbling away on his pipe, and responds “In this household, we give thanks to big noses!”
Kahli’s humor can sometimes come off on the more dark or crass side, sometimes at her own expense. One of her go to personal jokes is when she sees something she just wants to forget is she will just make a comment “You know. some days i wish i had dementia. I want to forget I ever saw this”
She’s been witness to so many mothers dying, and the fate of babies that are seconds born becoming questioned. This lead to her completely swearing off the possibility of one day producing young. Her position was too important for that. Now she can no longer produce young. She has become infertile due to her age.
Kahli is considered ageless. No one knows if this is true, but she has lived to be at least one thousand years old. She is elderly, but still in shape.
Khali has incredible magic abilities. These abilities surpassed Reflux in power. She could have easily taken out Reflux for the title of champion, she simply chose not to. She already had enough on her plate. She NEVER liked reflux. At all. She’s never been fond of pit fighting in general but attends matches because Gumsi oversees them and is fond of watching them. She also knew Gumsi idolized Reflux.
Kahli ventures out of the ruins frequently due to her often being called to attend serious matters over in the fairy council. It's why Kahli tends to use her hooded robe as her main attire. She also brings jars of moisturizer with her when she leaves the ruins to tend to her skin in the event it starts to dry out and crack.
Kahli has a voice head canon too. Females don't have that gravelly accent that the knaaren tend to have, but their voices are still a bit on the deep side.
the voice head canon for Kahli here is a woman named Renee Victor.
Renee victor has been known for voices such as Abuelita in the movie Coco. but the reason i did her was for her role within The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. She was the woman that did the Argonian females such as Keerava, Deeja, And the marriable Female Argonian, Shahvee When you hear Kahli speak, she tends to sound like this:
youtube
Bonus to the re-uploaded version of this post: A commission I ordered from user @nausinoisette a long time ago that features Kahli for reference.
Tumblr media
----------------------------------------------------
Here’s where things dig into her part within Rayman Retold:
Andre and Reflux were able to steal the scepter from Gumsi during Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc. How did that happen without Mee-maw knowing? Kahli tells people this often: She does not instantly know about the future events. She has to peer into these events herself. She must have been curious and go to the process of peering in. SHE DID NOT KNOW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN BECAUSE SHE NEVER PEERED INTO THIS SPECIFIC EVENT.
Reflux and Andre attempted to take the scepter from Gumsi by force.
Knaaren are dangerous if you make them mad. They go into full rage and blood lust that they can level entire buildings, and the most dangerous is a knaaren parent that knows their child is threatened.
Kahli could have EASILY murdered Reflux and Andre. They knew she could. They planned for that. All they had to do was have Reflux hold up Gumsi by the collar of his robe. The child was failing at trying to strike at them. Andre offered Kahli a deal. If Kahli let them take the scepter and go with their plan, they would not kill Gumsi.
Gumsi still had not grown into his invincible status, so they could easily carry that threat out. Kahli could only growl and she handed over the scepter in exchange for her grandson’s life. She lives in regret to this day that she allowed what happened to the Leptys to occur, but Gumsi is the most important person in her life. Even more important than her faith to the Leptys.
Reflux is of the deceased status after he crystalized and broke in the final fight within Hoodlum Havoc. Kahli cursed him to be forever known as Reflux the Blasphemer, and the knaaren call him that to this day. The scepter was recovered by Kahli after Reflux’s defeat and is back in Gumsi’s possession.
Rayman officially meets her after the events of Hoodlum Havoc. Rayman would often go to visit Gumsi and just pal around the kid. Gumsi introduces his Mee-maw to Rayman all starry-eyed like “ISN'T MY MEE-MAW COOL”
Rayman has like… 3 different people he considers moms at this point in his life. Kahli became the woman that he would call “Grandma” affectionately. Kahli loves this and just starts chuckling going “I love this kid.”
Rayman ends up rubbing off on this woman in a positive fashion. her normally grumpy and lack of social interaction improve during their interactions and she becomes a woman of jokes and all smiles.

headcanons i’ve written before but get to repost/rewrite 1/??:    1.0 gridanian politics and your local keeper boy’s childhood.
this deals a lot with racism and xenophobia, because both are very prevalent in 1.0 gridania. if that bothers you, please don’t read this! it’s not something i slap into my interactions, but it is something i find necessary to address with regarding albi’s character because it is in his upbringing.
i’m gonna start with a mini-history lesson that really is a massive watering down of the actual subject. there’s entire chunks of the history missing, 1.0 didn’t do the greatest job of explaining it as it was & 2.0 only barely scratches at it since the game started moving away from conflicts between the playable races.
specifically before the calamity happened, keepers of the moon were essentially persona non grata to the gridanians. some lived within the city for some number of various reasons, including finances, inability to hunt, lack of a tribe, need of medicines, etc., but many chose to live within the twelveswood proper according to their cultural lifestyle. those of whom lived in gridania proper, though, alongside the duskwight elezen, were often subject to a considerable amount of racist commentary and beliefs that did not extend to their seeker or wildwood counterparts.
of course, their conflict with keepers really stems from hunting laws. under the elementals’ watch, hunting was only allowed within select regions of the twelveswood, and this was formally recognized through laws that restricted hunts to those lands. hunting outside of these selected regions was considered poaching, and seen as an act that would upset the elementals’ will. which seems reasonable when you’re a group of hyurs and elezen that actually deal with the elementals on a regular basis and have similar views of society, but the keepers migrated in much later by following the hunt, and their lifestyle is wildly different. as a result, gridanians tried to force their laws and way of life on the keepers, the keepers refused because it infringed on their freedoms and culture. therefore, gridanians and keepers do not, for the most part, get along.
some tribes, like albi’s, would acquiesce and accept the gridanian hunting laws in a show of good will and in the interest of maintaining harmony/avoiding conflict, but for the most part, gridanians would see keepers in general as poachers and threats to the elementals’ will. it didn’t help, either, that a keeper-based gang known as the coeurlclaws rose on the back of the gridanians’ mistreatment of the keepers who lived in the city proper/keepers who had nowhere else to go, and began attacking twin adder/wood wailer sentries and poaching with the intent of making quick coin that was more often than not used to help their own families.
among the many, many ways the gridanians made their dislike of keepers very evident, though, is in referring to them as savages, and otherwise treating them like they’re uneducated or disloyal to gridania itself. best example really comes from the archer quests with silvairre and leih’s interactions, such as
Tumblr media
and albi had to deal with that a lot once he moved into hyrstmill after the calamity. hyrstmill is a hamlet mostly populated by wood wailers and their families. after all, as it is a supply outpost for the god’s quiver. which means a forestborn, tribal keeper moving into their home was generally not seen as a good thing, and due to the distance from the main city, the calls from the seedseer made to accept the keepers who had been displaced by the destruction done to the twelveswood were more often than not simply ignored since few were of the interest of calling the behavior out.
he never quite got used to the insults slung at him, much less to the number of times that, if he found himself cornered by the other children in the hamlet, the very real fear that he might actually die would settle in if he couldn’t find other ways to immediately escape. far be it from him to tell an adult such was occurring, though, since they’d likely not believe him or insinuate worse of him for saying their children were capable of it——not to mention their ability to live in hyrstmill as it was relied on them not being problematic, so very often, for his mother and sister’s sakes, he’d take the blows in silence.
as such, he takes considerable, real offense to being called a savage. (consider it a slur for him and his people, basically, because it is used a lot like one.)
which is, coincidentally, the empire’s favorite word to call the eorzeans in general. so most dealings with the less open-minded of their rank involve a lot of albi biting his tongue. however, the treatment he endured also fits into why albi doesn’t consider himself gridanian, and how he, if asked, will say he’s a forestborn from the black shroud.
--- bonus, because this headcanon is on a related subject so i can smash it in easily even if its a weird transition.
however, for much of his childhood (well, up until the age of 14), these are things he had the blessing to never really come into contact with. his tribe, prior to the calamity, was from the peacegarden, which is a region of forest located in the north shroud near the hamlet of hyrstmill as of 2.0, but in 1.0, it existed in a slightly different area (pictured below). currently, it’s not accessible as the land changed considerably after the calamity, burying certain regions while exposing others (cough, palaceofthedead, cough).
Tumblr media
still near hyrstmill, but a sizable distance compared to the stone’s throw it becomes after the calamity happens. which means albi lived outside of society’s reach, actually within the twelveswood and a part of a small tribe of fellow keepers. and being that far out came with its own benefits—many of which were that he rarely encountered other people and therefore didn’t have to deal with the prejudice outside of the twin adder units and wood wailers dispatched to survey the area—but also with its own problems. as of 1.0, the peacegarden was located in an area riddled with strong monsters, but it also featured one other problem: its proximity to the ixali beast tribe. in fact, the ixali were close enough that there was an unused dungeon designed and intended to be placed within the peacegarden littered with their banners. in later patches, these ixali would even be poised to invade hyrstmill from time to time (much like one of the existing FATEs today, but on a far larger scale), and so the threat they posed to a small keeper tribe was great, indeed.
so, to recap, albi grew up in a small, isolated tribe that consisted of three families: his own (the mahzu), his cousins’ (the fhorga), and another family (the rutkhu). and important to keep in mind is keepers are traditionally raised without fathers present, so the only males in the tribe (who would be exiled upon their reaching adulthood) were actually albi’to, his older brother albi’a, and the rutkhu son, kahli’a, which means the keeper philosophy regarding males was instilled into him pretty early on.
Tumblr media
in other words, to dream of anything grand as an adult was literally only going to be just that: a dream. but as long as he remained young enough to still be considered a child, he could make himself useful to the tribe and learn the skills he’d need for later on when he was forced to wander by his lonesome. the idea of expecting gratitude or respect was squashed altogether – and he heard it plenty growing up as the youngest of the tribe, often in the form that he didn’t know anything because he was a boy or because he was a child.
despite this, he never really had a strained family life. he was attached at the hip with his brother, but his relationships with his sister and his mother were rather close as well. he was friendly and on good terms with his twin cousins, sehye and tohsah, as well as the tribe chieftain’s youngest daughter, ahte. the chieftain, kahli, and her eldest daughter, pahje, were less friendly, but in the end, it was only on matters that required counsel that he was shunned out, to which albi never really took to heart.
returning to the point i made earlier, the threat of ixali attacks was relatively high, but being from a tribe meant that inquiring assistance from the wood wailers or the twin adder simply wasn’t feasible. they had to manage to be self-sufficient, even in the matters of their own defenses, which led to a focus on matters of stealth and, among other things, a proficiency for climbing trees to get out of the flightless ones’ reach. it didn’t keep them wholly away from conflict with the birdmen, as one such instance would claim the lives of both albi’s father and his aunt when he was only two moons, but ultimately, their ability to hide, as well as living a somewhat nomadic lifestyle managed to keep the number of casualties to a bare minimum.
remaining on the topic of those not in his tribe, when it came to the hyurs and elezens that ventured far enough into the wood to find the keepers, there weren’t many. occasionally, their tribe would venture out with the specific interest of trading with merchants to get materials they otherwise couldn’t, but talking was done by those older than he was. his job was always to carry things back, to not speak, to not prolong their time among strangers. the cost of this, though, is that he never got enough practice to learn how to speak well among people outside the tribe, hence his use of contractions and lack of enunciation… only strengthening some individuals’ opinion that he was just another savage wildling of the wood.
but he did occasionally, out of curiosity, wander near hyrstmill with his brother to observe things — try to understand the people that were so quick to talk down to him. hyrstmill at the time was busy and full of adventurers. it still lacked a proper aetheryte, yet people would still appear, oftentimes offering to help the hamlet against the threat of the ixal, which was… a strange concept to the miqo’te. gridanians accepting help from outsiders? it seemed unlikely, yet it was happening.
for every adventurer that would make it to hyrstmill, however, was another that would find themselves utterly lost within the labyrinthine structure of the shroud. and those who find themselves lost tend to find themselves marked with woodsin and a target for the elementals, which only makes things harder for the denizens of the wood as the beasts get enraged and lash out. so, very often, and without telling anybody, and without talking to these stranded peoples, he’d take a page from his brother’s book and go out of his way to guide them back to the gates of civilization —— back to where they could be cared for without endangering themselves or others.
so, y’know, he’s a strange boy. he wholly understands they don’t like him, but he feels compelled to help since they’re, well, helpless.

If I may ask for world building do you think each of the word leaders titles are unique?
For example there’s monarchies like The Grand Minimus, the king of the Teensies and Barbara who’s a barbaric princess but then could be someone like Mr. Sax who’s more like a governor of Bandland.
The people of the glade have their own leadership systems. Knaarens are ruled by King Gumsi. The teensies as a whole are ruled by Grand Minimus and his wife (Teensette would end up becoming Queen Minumus when she realized she couldn't keep chasing Rayman forever. She's very happy with her marriage.) The Glade humans all have their own territories, one of them is run by Barbara's dad (Barbara's mother having passed away when she and her twin sister were much younger), And Aeropolis (The city from The Animated Series) is run by an unnamed Mayor. Voodoo Mama is considered the protector and guardian of the Land of the Livid dead, so she's considered the defacto leader of the place. The First King would have taken that title, but he wanted to retire in peace. He didn't want to be ruling a kingdom forever.
Yet all of them abide by the will of the Fairy Council. They come into action when situations are dire, like threats that endanger the entire glade if not the world. The Council is made up of Grand Minimus and his wife, Betilla and her sisters, Ly, The Magician, and Kahli the God-blessed. Kahli is not always in attendance due to her age and the strain on her health the trip can have on her if she's exposed to sunlight. She comes in when she absolutely needs to and the council respects that. The council was created by Polokus himself to govern the land when he cannot be there. They can't keep relying on him forever.
As for the continent that was Rayman's homeland/birthplace? I haven't really delved that deeply into the leadership stuff. Though if you've read up on my previous head canon posts, Mr. Sax already has a job as a musical conductor and will travel the world performing. Sometimes he'll even perform his music to Space Mama's shows. He's not the leader of Band Land. None of the bosses you faced in Rayman 1 are leaders of those lands. Just powerful members of those lands that Mr. Dark tricked into doing his bidding.
I will throw in these extra ones since I never really discussed it in detail before:
After the events of Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope, The rabbids of the glade split into two factions. One on the side of good, while the other continue their efforts to take over the glade and cause mischief due to all the excessive bullying they faced. Sergueï became the defacto leader of the good rabbids after the affiliation split and is one of Raymona's rabbid friends. Rayman has managed to develop a strong bond with him despite being his prison warden before the split. The evil rabbids still being lead by Professor Barranco 3 who is their supreme commander.
The Mario Rabbids are their own thing and do not really follow the systems of the Glade. They follow the systems of the Mushroom Kingdom. They're technically ruled over by Princess Peach.
While Grand Minimus and Teensette rule over the teensies as a whole, there are still lesser rank teensies ruling over a clan or certain teensie territories. They could be Prince/Princess, Grand Duke/Duchess, but they still all abide by the command of Grand Minimus and his queen.

Rayman Retold Lore Post: The Knaaren
Disclaimer: This post contains details that may be triggering to those who have issues around references of when childbirth leads to the death of the mother.
When you play hoodlum havoc, it seemed that a lot of the knaaren that Rayman interacted with…they were all males as far as I know, and Gumsi was “The child king of the knaaren”.
I was wondering if there WERE females of the species, or did they just pull what World of Warcraft did with the hozen where the females sound and look identical to the males. Where are the females? also…there didn't seem to be any children other than Gumsi.
I decided to put my own personal touch on this:
Knaaren have a belief system that their females and their children are incredibly precious. This leads to a few of their members having high respect levels not only towards their own females, but any female from any other species.
Why are they so precious to them and why do they have such levels of respect?
Knaaren childbirth is incredibly difficult. The typical result is the females die during childbirth. It is incredibly rare for females to survive. When they do, the knaarens worship her like an icon or deity of their people.
Knaaren have 2 kinds of courtship or mating systems. Marriage and Consorts.
Married Couples are referred to Mates in knaaren society. Marriage is a big deal for the knaarens. If you are lucky enough to have a knaaren as your spouse, knaarens marry for life. They become fully devoted to you and you alone. It's not just a mate for life either! If you die and you were married to a knaaren, THEY NEVER SEEK ANOTHER ROMANTIC PARTNER. YOU HAVE BECOME THEIR ONE AND ONLY. They have committed themselves to you, and will never reproduce again.
This leads to difficulty in keeping the species alive. That is why the consort system exists. Most of the time, males will seek females with consort systems. This means they are allowed to bed females and be allowed to produce young, but not be tied to them like a marriage does.
The consort system is flawed. Many folks, even within the knaaren people themselves, are aware of this. The problem is these views are not easily changed. It's considered a "for the greater good" scenario. The system is considered flawed because it has lead to many children being orphaned.
When a female passes from child birth, The typical response is supposed to be that the father comes forward and will take the child into their care. But there have been many scenarios where the father never came forward. If a father doesn’t come forward, a massively long line forms that are willing to adopt the child into their care. For a few knaaren, this is their saving grace that allows them to have a child of their own without the risk to their partner's life. A child ALWAYS ends up finding an adoptive family.
One of these cases was Gumsi. Gumsi’s mother was the previous queen of the knaaren. She became pregnant by a consort and she died from childbirth. No father ever came forward and Gumsi's father was never found. Everyone within the ruins came forward wanting to adopt this kid. THIS KID WAS GOING TO BE THE KING AFTER ALL!
One Knaaren came forward to adopt the child, and due to her status she became unchallenged to become the adoptive caretaker for Gumsi. This woman was Kahli the God-blessed. a Knaaren Soothsayer, the royal advisor for Gumsi’s mother, and who also served as midwife for Gumsi’s birth.
-----------------------------------------------
Females are built more to be speedy and athletic. Most of the established magic users are female. There are few instances of male mages. the only known one from within the story was Reflux.
Females also don’t have that gravelly growl most males have when they talk. but it IS a deep sounding voice.
That's it for the female specific details! the rest is general lore for all the Knaaren people!
-----------------------------------------------
For children, there ARE other children of the species around. You don't normally see them without a parent close by. An angry knaaren is dangerous, and nothing is more dangerous within the Rayman universe than a knaaren parent when their children are being threatened. They are already prone to primal feral fits of rage. If its a parent and you are a threat to their child, they become completely lost in their rage. These rage fits are powerful enough to level entire buildings to the foundation. The aggressor is going to die painfully, and will be consumed.
-----------------------------------------------
I mentioned earlier that marriage is a big deal in knaaren society. Weddings are the BIGGEST celebrations for them. They are Highly Elaborate, Highly Expensive (no cost is too high for a knaaren wedding), and one of the most formal affairs.
Being married to a knaaren is considered the highest honor to most within the Rayman universe, especially in inter-racial marriages. There are some that actually frown upon this, however. There do exist a small number of outsider minds that think knaaren are savages and want nothing to do with it.
-----------------------------------------------
Knaaren don’t normally travel outside of the ruins. Being in the sunlight for long periods can seriously damage their skin. There are some instances of them traveling out of their underground home. If they go out into the sunlight, they have to be completely covered from top to bottom. Those that allow their skin to become exposed will often have to oil or moisturize their skin, as the constant exposure to sunlight leaves their skin painfully cracked and dehydrated.
-----------------------------------------------
Knaaren are invincible as in they cannot die by physical means. They can be stabbed, Shot, crushed, and they will still come after you. This does not mean they are completely unkillable. Each knaaren have their own way of being defeated. It's unique per knaaren person. Not every Knaaren can die in the same manner. In most cases, it has to do with internal methods or around consumption. All females are capable of dying from childbirth.
Knaaren are not born with invincibility. They are born vulnerable and they grow into their invincibility around preadolescent age.
-----------------------------------------------
The Knaaren Primary Deity is The Leptys. He is known as Night Father, Father of the Knaaren People, or The Total Eclipse.
Curses do exist within Rayman universe. There is some very mild ones that you know: example being Globox constantly dropping Gaseous Glutes, and you used to see me drop one called “Jano’s Jaws” which is another within the Rayman Retold Universe specifically.
Knaaren folk also have their own take on curses. “By Leptys’ Shade” is one of the most common ones used by knaaren folk.
-----------------------------------------------
One of the “Classes” or professions within Knaaren society are Soothsayers. In Knaaren society they tend to be the wise men or women of the race. Most can simply commune with Leptys and that's it. There is only one soothsayer currently alive that could commune with more than just Leptys, she was made royal advisor for this (Kahli the God-Blessed)

If I may ask how do you envision Leptys?
There is a lot of speculation between glade scholars and the council, but Kahli the God-blessed tends to tell the tale about the great Leptys:
The father of the knaaren people is said to be the greatest Knaaren warrior that has ever lived. He was not only a formidable immortal fighter, but also well versed in the skills of magic. One of these skills was the ability to shapeshift into giant birds. Eagles, Crows, Ravens, and Owls. The sun never seems to scorch his flesh as it does for the rest of his people. He could traverse outside the ruins whenever he pleased. He was the only Knaaren that studied with the people of Phrys. He has a never quenching thirst for knowledge on the magic of the world.
King Gumsi often speaks of being visited by a great, black eagle in his dreams, Kahli will say this is the presence of Leptys watching over the child king.
Ever since he had been blessed with the power to turn black lums into red ones, Rayman has taken notice of a giant black bird that seems to watch him within his dreams sometimes.
Polokus speaks of Leptys fondly and makes note that he is a very quiet type that always seems to have his nose deep within a book. He takes great delight in listening to Leptys whenever he does feel the desire to converse. Often he'll go on and on about his latest studies and it brings Polokus delight in listening to him speak about his current interests.

Raymona would lead the Rayman brothers back to her house. She would give Ramon a chance to settle in and try to calm down. She would give him plenty of hugs and back strokes to try to soothe him. Once he was ready to talk, the two listened.
Tumblr media
"The Hunter grabbed Mona by her hair and she overextended her magic? Okay, now the whole explosion comment makes more sense. This confirms our claim that Jano isn't showing you the whole story too. Mona would never exert herself that badly unless something else other than the glade burning like that was happening. Like The Hunter was going to kill someone very close to her and she felt like she had no other choice. A simple raid like this wouldn't make her go to those extremes.
Like when Barranco had you both captured. Mona filled me in on why she burned herself like that. That wild one berserk happens when someone she loves is in grave danger, and it can be easily triggered by a loved one's cries or screams of extreme distress. Given we know all about how that Rabbid operates, her brain went into "He's going to die if I don't do something." mode and she did what she could, even if it meant hurting herself in the process.
Tumblr media
There is something here we aren't seeing; and if we want a chance at changing the course, even slightly, we may need to go visit a friend of mine. Her name is Kahli the God-Blessed. She's the soothsayer for the king of the Knaaren people. She is also his grandmother. She has the power to not only communicate with the various deities of the glade, but she can grant visions of both the past and the future. It's like you were right there in the moment, but cannot interact with the people.
What do you say, brother? Fancy a trip to the desert so we can figure out what's going on? Get the full story?"
