throughout elementary school and middle school i used to get teased a lot for listening to more telugu songs than english songs because it was “weird.” now one of those telugu songs is going to be performed live at hollywood’s biggest award show where it’s also nominated for best original song. oh how the turntables
EDIT: it won. a telugu song. won an oscar. those turntables are fucking strong

plot: Jai kills the Udayghar Chakravarthi and takes over the kingdom. He has his eyes set on the beautiful, brave Kaala Bhairava he has heard so much about, so he offers to leave Yuvarani Mithravinda alone if Bhairava stays with him. Bhairava grudgingly agrees, and Jai has fantasies of Bhairava submitting to him willingly later on.
(not pictured) In this AU Jai and Bhairava catch feelings for each other, but Mithravinda, full of rage over the murder of her father and takeover of her kingdom, arranges a coup to kill Jai and rescue the man she loves.

going to school today was so freeing. for the first time in my life, the conversations that were always about taylor swift, rihanna, and harry styles were about kaala bhairava, rahul sipligunj, and mm keeravani. people who've always expected me to learn the meanings to their languages were suddenly trying to learn telugu words from me. telugu people all around me were proudly claiming a song in their native language had won the Oscars :')
representation matters 💞

Hurt Me Harder
Kaala Bhairava/Mithravinda (18+)
tw: smut, noncon, possessiveness, degradation (?), choking, orgasm denial - no morals in here y’all beware
dom!mithra but also sub!mithra mentioned
context: I made this Jairava edit, kept thinking about my dark!Mithravinda headcanon, and then combined the two for this smutfic. Basically Jairava was a thing after Jai killed the Udhayghar King and took over, but Mithravinda took back her kingdom in a coup and killed Jai, not realizing Bhairava loved him back. At the time of this fic she’s atticwifed Bhairava and is now gaslighting him to believe Jai never loved him so she can have him all to herself.

Her father had been right.
He had been right about a lot of things, but especially in Bhairava’s case.
She knew Bhairava’s family history, everyone did. He came from a long line of loyal soldiers, brave warriors, generals who gave up their lives for the throne. Her father had refused their marriage to protect her from early widowhood, and Mithra had been a fool to not realize it at the time.
A fool in love, but she’s now older and the ruler of her own kingdom. The burned, damaged ruins of what used to be major cities of Udhayghar reflect her own wounded heart, but she knows that the cure for both is Bhairava. It always has been. With him by her side, she’ll be able to do anything.
Mithra has rescued her soulmate and her kingdom from that monster -- just the thought of him boils her blood, how dare he lay his filthy hands on what is rightfully hers -- and she knows her father was right about Bhairava. He’s too brave, too much of a warrior to trust him to not hurt himself. If she lets him loose, he’ll go and get himself killed in a war somewhere.
As Mithra walks into her personal quarters (she had chosen the room he lived in, and destroyed every trace of him before she set foot in it) and gazes upon the battered, defeated form of her lover on the floor near the foot of the bed, she thinks to herself that she’s doing this for his own good.
“Mithra please!” Bhairava had begged, cradling the unconscious form of that demon so carefully in his arms.
“He just used you, Bhairava. You’re nothing to him but a pretty face,” she whispers as she advances with her dagger. “He doesn’t love you like I do.”
Bhairava’s face cracks open, devastated. “Yes he does, Mithra, please,” his wide, fearful eyes tug at her heart. It’ll be okay. He’ll never have to look like that once he’s with her again. She’ll protect him from everything.
The chains on Bhairava’s hands and feet rattle as he feebly attempts to get away from her, but where will he go? Mithra lovingly strokes his face, and Bhairava closes his eyes in disgust.
She stops in her tracks as Bhairava draws his sword, still kneeling. “I will not let you kill him.”
“You know that the throne is mine, Bhairava.” She’s angry at him for not seeing it, but she supposes it’s his fault. He must have manipulated him into thinking that way. “Will you not let me get what I rightfully deserve?”
“I will do whatever you want, Mithra.” He pauses for a second, thinking. “Rani Mithravinda garu. I will be your slave forever if you just-”
Oh, that hurts. Her Bhairava should never be that formal with her. She dashes forward, and Bhairava attacks.
“My Bhairava.” she says. “One day, I’ll make you realize how much I love you. You’ll look at me with the same love you once looked at me with.” She tightens her grip on his chin, and Bhairava’s eyes snap open, anger stirring at what he knows is coming next. “I’ll make you forget all about him,” she sneers, and Bhairava glares at her.
He’s deadly with his sword, beautiful in motion. Bhairava’s muscles ripple as he stabs downwards, but Mithra quickly blocks and jabs upward, towards his neck. She knows he’ll be able to dodge the blow, but his surprise at being attacked, at her hidden skills, makes him too slow to understand what she’s planning. As Bhairava turns away from her, she throws her dagger right into that monster’s heart.
He’s stubborn, her Bhairava. Even if he wasn’t gagged, he wouldn’t have made a sound. He knows his silence is more effective than any halfhearted insults he might have thrown at her. But they both know he won’t be able to do anything else.
A scream tears out of Bhairava’s throat, something guttural. Before she can react, Bhairava punches her wrist to knock her dagger out of her hand and places his sword on her neck.
She... hadn’t expected that. Is she really going to die here now? It’s okay. She closes her eyes in acceptance, and waits for death. Dying at the hands of the man she loves the most, after killing the man she hates the most, is not a bad way to go.
Bhairava’s hands shake for what seems an eternity, and with another awful-sounding shout, he finally wrenches the sword away, throwing it several feet away. He falls to his knees before her, and Mithra turns around to look at him in astonishment.
That person had failed. Her Bhairava still loved her, she thinks giddily. He couldn’t kill her.
He wouldn’t kill her.
Mithravinda smirks, and leans down to kiss him.
He resists, because of course he does. Bhairava wouldn’t make it easy for her, but Mithra wouldn’t have it any other way. She likes him with a little fire anyway.
Bhairava stays still as Mithra kisses his unresponsive lips, but she isn’t deterred. One of these days he’ll respond. If not now, then at least years down the line, when he realizes he’s not getting out of this room, ever. Mithra is going to keep Bhairava alive and with her if it’s the last thing she’ll do.
Her hand slips down to his neck, squeezing slightly just to feel the muscles tense up, then forcefully relax. She smiles and bites his bottom lip until she can taste his blood, licking it up from where it has trailed onto his jaw. Mithra continues to press kisses into his neck, running her hand over his defined pecs, but Bhairava remains annoyingly still.
She sighs as she unclasps her blouse. It’s okay, she’ll make this more interesting for both of them. Bhairava’s eyes widen just a fraction as she takes his hand and rubs it over her breasts. Now it’ll be harder for him to pretend nothing is happening, that he’s not participating in anything. Mithra uses the hand to stroke her face lovingly, chains on his wrists rattling, then sucks on his digits. She sees the ripple of shame on Bhairava’s face as they both feel his cock growing harder.
He tries to squeeze his legs together, but Mithra uses his hand to press one of his legs to the ground, and kicks the other one to the side, pressing on his foot to keep them open. She’s kept him naked save for a golden shawl for easy access, so it’s not hard for her to lick her hand and palm his cock, making Bhairava squirm.
“You can’t get away from me, my love.” she tells him, and Bhairava turns his head to the side. She laughs at the attempt.
Mithra’s still wet and loose from this morning, so it doesn’t take her long to push her saree skirt away and sink down fully on his cock, in his lap. She takes a second to adjust, get used to the overwhelming feeling of being penetrated, and uses the time to gauge Bhairava’s reaction as always.
His mouth has fallen slightly open in pleasure, and she hears a sharp intake of breath.
“Tell me, do you like this?” She gently tugs on his hair, exposing his sweaty neckline, and mouths along his pulse point. “Or do you prefer it... the other way around? Shall I bring a toy the next time I visit?”
Mithra starts to rock back and forth, letting small whimpers and moans out of her mouth as she angles herself so Bhairava’s cock hits the perfect spot inside of her. She stops pressing on Bhairava’s hand and wraps it around her own neck, the cool metal of the chains pressing into her sternum.
Once upon a time, she had been obsessed with the idea of submitting to her handsome general. She had fallen asleep many days dreaming of Bhairava finally snapping out of his perfect composure and just taking, of using her for his own pleasure like she was just a plaything, an object. Being forced to ride him as he sat on her father’s throne as he belonged, pushing her mouth onto his cock in front of any man who dared court the Udhayghar Yuvarani not knowing she already belonged to her beloved general. Of being marked with the evidence of Bhairava’s love, something she had never experienced tangibly. Bruises in the shape of fingerprints on her hips, a necklace of hickeys around her neck and breasts, the list of her daydreams went on and on.
But this Bhairava, the one who shied away from all forms of her affection, did not want that. He wanted him, and who knows what that man gave him, did to him. The thought is enough to make Mithra see red, and press harder on her own neck.
She moans as she feels her orgasm approaching closer, and can hear Bhairava’s breaths quickening. As much as he pretends he doesn’t like her, a man’s body never lies.
She moves his hand to her clit, rubbing rapidly to bring herself closer to the edge. When she cums, Mithra blacks out for a moment, slumping against Bhairava’s chest. As she comes back into herself, Mithra feels Bhairava’s still-hard cock spasming inside of her, and his muscles tensed in anticipation of orgasm. Bhairava cries out as Mithra abruptly lifts herself off of his cock, and stands up. His hands shake with the effort of not wanting to give in, to jerk himself off to orgasm right there.
She smiles at him in pity, and Bhairava just closes his eyes in desperation. “You weren’t being a good boy again, bangaram. You know what you have to do to earn it.” She cleans herself off with the edge of his shawl, and gets up, redressing herself. “I’ll be back later, I have work to do. I’ll get someone to send up dinner.”
Mithra stoops down to press a loving kiss to Bhairava’s forehead, then leaves the room.
