The announcement of the strike comes as all Palestinian forces decried the assassination and stressed that it will not deter the Palestinian people from continuing the struggle against the occupation.
A video was posted on social media from Hebron showing closed shops on Wednesday morning in a way to show protest over the killing of Ismail Haniyeh.[...]
Reuters quoted an Iranian source who confirmed that Iran's Supreme National Security Council held an urgent meeting and it is studying a strategy to respond to the assassination of Haniyeh in Tehran.
The meeting in Iran was held in the headquarters of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, in the presence of the commander of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards.

THE WHITE HOUSE is worried that Iran might strike a U.S. target as part of a potential retaliation for Israel’s April 1 attack on its embassy in Damascus, Syria, according to notes from a meeting involving National Security Council officials earlier this week. Tehran has vowed that “Israel will be punished” for the Syria strike and the killing of Quds Force commander Mohammad Reza Zahedi. New concern about a potential Iranian strike comes even though the Biden administration has sought to distance itself from the Israeli airstrike, stressing that it had no advance knowledge of the operation. “I don’t have anything more to say about the strike in Damascus, except that we weren’t involved in any way whatsoever,” NSC spokesperson retired Adm. John Kirby said on Monday. On Monday night, Iran conveyed to the Biden administration that if it involved itself in defending Israel were Tehran to undertake a retaliatory strike, it would consider the United States a viable target as well. The issue was discussed at a Tuesday NSC meeting, according to notes reviewed by The Intercept. (The NSC did not respond to a request for comment.)
Since then, the U.S. has quietly conducted talks with Iranian officials to seek to avoid direct confrontation between the two countries’ armed forces, according to CNN and other media reports. On Sunday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said that Biden and his team are working to prevent escalation with Iran in the Middle East. On Wednesday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that Israel “must be punished and it shall be.” That same day, Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Israel Katz said his country would respond with a direct attack. “If Iran attacks from its own territory, Israel will respond and attack in Iran,” Katz posted on X. Since April 2023, the U.S. and Israel have been in close cooperation in sharing and building common Iran contingency plans.

[ 📹 Scenes from the destruction wrought by an Israeli occupation airstrike which targeted a vehicle being driven by 7 foreign aid workers belonging to the World Central Kitchen, killing all inside. Among the dead included foreign citizens of Britain, Poland, and Australia, along with a dual American and Canadian citizen. The aid organization said it had coordinated the movements of its personnel with the Israeli authorities, who knew the vehicle contained humanitarian aid workers.]
🇮🇱⚔️🇵🇸 🚀🚀🚙💥 🚨
ISRAELI OCCUPATION BOMBS FOREIGN AID WORKERS, CONTINUES BOMBING ACROSS GAZA ON DAY 179 OF GENOCIDE
On the 179th day of "Israel's" ongoing war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of 7 new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the deaths of no less than 71 Palestinians, mostly women and children, while another 102 others were wounded over the previous 24-hours.
In the latest occupation atrocity, the Zionist army bombed the vehicle of a group of Foreign aid personnel working for the World Central Kitchen (WCK), killing 7 employees, including 6 foreigners.
"World Central Kitchen is devastated to confirm seven members of our team have been killed in an IDF strike in Gaza," the organization said in a statement on its website.
According to the World Central Kitchen, despite coordinating the organization's movements with the Israeli occupation army, a convoy including two armored cars branded with the WCK logo and one soft-skin vehicle that were carrying the WCK team while it was traveling through a "deconflicted zone" was struck by an Israeli bomb, destroying at least one of the vehicles.
WCK says the team was leaving their Deir al-Balah warehouse, in the central Gaza Strip, where their teams unloaded more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid brought to Gaza through a maritime route, when the convoy was targeted by Zionist forces.
“This is not only an attack against WCK, this is an attack on humanitarian organizations showing up in the most dire of situations where food is being used as a weapon of war. This is unforgivable,” World Central Kitchen CEO, Erin Gore is quoted as saying.
The seven foreign aid workers killed in the Zionist strike included citizens from Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom, as well as a dual-citizen of the United States and Canada, and one Palestinian.
“I am heartbroken and appalled that we—World Central Kitchen and the world—lost beautiful lives today because of a targeted attack by the IDF. The love they had for feeding people, the determination they embodied to show that humanity rises above all, and the impact they made in countless lives will forever be remembered and cherished,” Erin Gore added.
In response to the International outcry over the atrocity, the Israeli occupation authorities said they will be “carrying out an in-depth examination at the highest levels to understand the circumstances of this tragic incident.”
The World Central Kitchen has suspended its operations in Gaza as a result of the incident.
In yet another atrocity yesterday, the Israeli occupation army bombed the Iranian consulate building in the Syrian capital of Damascus, killing several high-level Iranian officials, including 7 military advisors of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
In response to the strike, Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said in an announcement issued on Tuesday that the "evil Zionist regime will regret" it's crime of assasinating Iran's military advisors in Syria.
The Iranian leader said that both Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, and his deputy, General Mohammed Hadi Haji Rahimi were killed in the strike, which targeted the Iranian consulate in Damascus, declaring the crime was perpetrated by the "usurping and dispicable" Zionist regime.
“The evil regime will be punished by our brave men. We will make them regret this crime and other ones, by God's will," the Iranian leader added.
As Israel's crimes spread outside the occupied Palestinian territories and the Gaza Strip, and into the wider West Asian region, the bombing inside Palestine continued unabated.
In just one example, local civil defense crews recovered the bodies of six Palestinians who were killed, including two children, along with a number of wounded civilians, following a Zionist occupation airstrike targeting the Zarub family home, located in the city of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip.
In another atrocity, several Palestinians were killed and a large number wounded after occupation artillery shelling targeted a number of residential buildings in the city of Khan Yunis, also in the south of Gaza, focusing artillery fire on the eastern and central parts of the city.
Meanwhile, Zionist warplanes bombed the al-Bashir Mosque, in the city of Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, martyring a several civilians, including the death of at least one child, and wounding at least 20 others, while also dealing significant damage to neighboring residential buildings.
Similarly, Zionist fighter jets fired several missiles that slammed into two residential homes in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, while occupation artillery shelling targeted the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, along with the Sheikh Ajlin neighborhood, martyring three civilians and wounding six others.
Over the last day, as the Zionist occupation army withdrew from the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, located in the Al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City, which had been the largest and most well-equipped hospital in the entire Gaza Strip, a scene of mass destruction and carnage was revealed, with hundreds of bodies littering the hospital grounds, including some bodies discovered with handcuffed wrists, having been extra-judicially executed in cold-blood.
Among the bodies recovered from Al-Shifa were doctors and healthcare personnel, along with entire Palestinian families, which the Gaza Media Office says were just a small part of the roughly 400 citizens that were killed in two weeks of fighting near the hospital.
About another 900 Palestinians were arrested or detained by Zionist forces under suspicion of belonging to Resistance groups, while the Hospital buildings themselves were nearly completely destroyed, blown to pieces and left as scorched shells by the American bombs dropped on them by the Israeli occupation army.
As a result of "Israel's" ongoing war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, the infinitely rising death toll has now exceeded 32'916 Palestinians killed, more than 25'000 of which being among women and children, while an additional 75'494 others have been wounded since the start of the current round of Zionist aggression beginning on October 7th, 2023.

the As a Jews of the IRI
NOVEMBER 25, 2024
WHAT IS AN "AS A JEW"?
“As a Jew” is a tongue-in-cheek term Jews use to describe fellow Jews who weaponize their Jewish identities to excuse, minimize, justify, or deny antisemitism.
As in, “As a Jew, this is not antisemitic because so and so…”
WHAT IS THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC?
The Islamic Republic is the fundamentalist Islamist, ultra-conservative, warmongering regime that has been ruling Iran -- and oppressing its population -- with an iron fist since the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Many Iranians call the Islamic Regime an “occupying force” because it is culturally foreign to Iran.
According to Iranian-American policy analyst Karim Sadjapour, the three ideological pillars of the Iranian regime are “compulsory hijab, death to America, and death to Israel.”
After the Islamic Republic came into power, over 80% of Iran’s ancient Jewish population fled the country. Today, the 8,500 Jews still living in Iran are subject to second-class citizenship and are constantly under the suspicion of the regime, for which they must tread carefully, never openly criticizing the regime’s implementation of Sharia Law.
THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC IS A GENOCIDAL THREAT TO JEWS
Given the Islamic Republic’s commitment to the “destruction of Israel” -- where around half of the world’s Jews live -- it has spent decades establishing proxy terrorist militias around the Jewish state. Among the Islamic Republic’s proxies are Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Ansar Allah, and its most important proxy, Hezbollah.
But the Islamic Republic’s targeting of Jews extends far, far beyond the Jewish state. In other words, no, the Islamic Republic isn’t merely “anti-Zionist.”
The Islamic Republic has planned and carried out terrorist attacks and massacres of Jews everywhere from Thailand to Kenya.
The Islamic Republic’s deadliest attack on Jews in the Diaspora was the 1994 bombing of the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA), a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which took 85 innocent lives. Before the October 7 Hamas massacre, which killed 1,200 Israelis, predominantly civilians -- another attack that was planned and funded by the Islamic Republic -- the AMIA bombing was the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.
The Islamic Republic has repeatedly dabbled with Holocaust denial. The Islamic Republic’s leader, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has consistently talked about the Holocaust’s “exaggerated numbers.” Most infamously, in 2006, the Islamic Republic hosted an international Holocaust denial conference in Tehran.
THE TRIED AND TRUE PROPAGANDA PLAYBOOK
Though the Islamic Republic government is deeply conservative, it started exploiting the well-intentioned progressive types to accomplish its nefarious goals before it even came into power.
The rule of the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, was characterized by the most horrific human rights violations. He was no liberal and no progressive. He was not anti-imperialist either, hoping to establish an empire of his own. In fact, he believed that “establishing the Islamic state world-wide belong(s) to the great goals of the revolution.” He spoke of conquering the whole world under the banner of Islam: “Islam makes it incumbent on all adult males, provided they are not disabled and incapacitated, to prepare themselves for the conquest of [other] countries so that the writ of Islam is obeyed in every country in the world.”
In 1964, the then Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, exiled Khomeini and banned his books. As such, the vast majority of the Iranian population was unfamiliar with his more extremist beliefs. While in exile in France, Khomeini downplayed his fundamentalism, presenting himself to the west merely as a fierce opponent of American neo-imperialism and influence in Iran. It was in this manner, for example, that he was able to manipulate Iranian leftists to join him under his banner. In reality, Khomeini despised leftism, and soon after he came to power, many left-wing organizations had to flee Iran. Others were executed.
Nothing illustrates this more clearly than the saga of the mandatory hijab. During the Iranian Revolution, many Iranian women wore the hijab as a symbol of opposition to the Shah’s policies of westernization. Soon after Khomeini came to power, the hijab was made mandatory. Shocked, liberal and leftist women took to the streets; they had not expected the hijab to become mandatory. In response, Khomeini quickly began suppressing and eliminating all leftist and liberal political groups, figures, and parties, and to this day, hijab remains mandatory in Iran, and women who refuse to wear it face arrest, torture, and even death.
WHAT IS NIAC?
The National Iranian American Council, or NIAC, is the de-facto lobby of the Islamic Republic in the United States. In other words, they lobby on behalf of the Islamic Republic, its policies, and its interests.
Just as Ruhollah Khomeini did in days past, NIAC has spent years latching onto “progressive” Jewish groups to pursue their nefarious interests...and shield the Islamic Republic from accusations of antisemitism.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course the Islamic Republic wants to disarm Israel...because their open goal is to destroy the Jewish state. They couldn’t care less about the suffering of anyone in Gaza.
Tumblr media
To the left is Rabbi Abby Chava Stein, who is a member of the “Jewish” Voice for “Peace” rabbinical council. Here she is meeting with the current president of the Islamic Republic.
Press TV is a propaganda arm of the Islamic Republic.
THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC AND THE NETUREI KARTA
Tumblr media
You probably recognize these guys, present at pretty much every pro-Palestine protest in New York City. They are the Neturei Karta. The Neturei Karta is a Hasidic Jewish sect with about 1,000-5,000 members. They are religious anti-Zionists, rejecting political Zionism on the religious basis that they believe no Jewish state should be founded prior to the arrival of the Messiah. While some other Jewish branches, such as the Satmar, hold this position, only the Neturei Karta have gone so far as to establish close relationships with those who wish Israeli Jews dead...particularly with the Islamic Republic.
In 2005, after then-Islamic Republic president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for the ethnic cleansing of Israeli Jews to Germany or Austria, the Neturei Karta issued a statement defending Ahmadinejad.
In 2006, the Neturei Karta attended a Holocaust denial conference in Tehran. For this, the Satmar, who are also religious anti-Zionists, condemned the Neturei Karta, calling on Jews worldwide to “to keep away from [the Neturei Karta] and condemn their actions.” The Satmar (along with Chabad, who are not anti-Zionist) also issued a cherem (i.e. censure; almost like the Jewish version of excommunication) against the Neturei Karta.
THE OLDEST TRICK IN THE BOOK
How do you deflect legitimate accusations of genocidal antisemitism? You “befriend” Jews, of course. As in: “how could I be antisemitic?! Look at all these Jews who support me!” Three historical examples:
(1) Leading up to the 1936 Berlin Olympics, the United States Olympic Committee was under tremendous pressure to boycott the Games, given Nazi Germany’s horrific treatment of Jews. The head of the US Olympic Committee, Avery Brundage, was a Nazi sympathizer, who convinced Germany to allow one German Jewish athlete to compete to give the impression that Jews in Germany were being treated fairly. In other words, the Nazis needed a token Jew. They proceeded to select a Jewish fencer, Helene Mayer, to the German Olympic team. Mayer placed second and gave the Nazi salute on the podium.
(2) In the 1920s, the Soviet Union shut down virtually all Jewish cultural, social, and religious institutions using a Jewish group, the Yevsektsiya, as a cover. According to historian of Soviet history Richard Pipes, “In time, every Jewish cultural and social organization came under assault.” The fact that the Yevsektsiya was “Jewish” was central to its purpose. After all, the Soviet regime couldn’t be accused of antisemitism when those shutting down all Jewish cultural and spiritual life were Jews themselves.
(3) Likewise, in the early 1950s, notorious Soviet dictator Josef Stalin conceived a plan for the mass deportation of Soviet Jewry to prison camps, all under the guise of “anti-Zionism.” Though the plan never ultimately came to pass, given Stalin’s sudden death, Stalin had made preparations to publish a letter to be signed by Soviet Jews “denouncing” Zionism and Zionist Jews. In the letter, Stalin’s “anti-Zionist Jews” would then urge the Soviet state to “take action” against the traitorous Zionist Jews. Jews would be deported en masse to the Ural Mountains, where MGB would instigate discord between Jewish leaders. Later, they would kill the “elites” in the camps, and maybe even follow with the rest of the Jewish population.

I’ve had my differences with J Street over the years but seeing them shill for the Islamic Republic was disappointing tbh…I expect nothing less of JVP and IfNotNow, but I (stupidly?) thought J Street was better than that 🤷🏻‍♀️

Iran's Supreme Leader released a message of support for American college students who have participated in pro-Palestine protests.
"Dear university students in the United States of America, you are standing on the right side of history," Ali Khamenei wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
His comments sparked fury on social media, with several people suggesting that having support from the authoritarian leader was not a good thing.
House Speaker Mike Johnson wrote on X: "When you've won the Ayatollah, you've lost America."
A popular right-wing X account, End Wokeness, wrote: "Imagine telling someone 10 years ago that the Iranian Supreme Leader would be thanking a bunch of blue-haired atheists at Columbia."
Several other X accounts, including the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs and the Orthodox rabbi and adjunct professor David Bashevkin, suggested that having Khamenei's support might suggest the protesters are actually on the wrong side of history.
Iranian American activist, Elica Le Bon, who often criticizes the Iranian regime as well as pro-Palestine protesters, wrote on X: "From the regime's Supreme Leader to students in the U.S. How can it be right in front of them and they still can't see it?"
In response to Hamas' October 7 attack which killed 1,200 and took 250 hostage, Israel began an aerial bombardment and ground offensive into Gaza. Nearly eight months later, Israel's campaign has flattened much of Gaza, displaced millions and killed more than 35,000 people, many of them civilians, per the health ministry.
In response to Israel's offensive, pro-Palestine protests have erupted in college campuses across the U.S., leading to thousands of students being arrested.
Iran's Supreme Leader also shared a piece of advice with American students, writing on X: "Dear university students in the US, my advice to you is to become familiar with the Quran."
Khamenei also released a longer open letter, in which he wrote that he wanted to express "empathy and solidarity" with student protesters.
"You have now formed a branch of the Resistance Front and have begun an honorable struggle in the face of your government's ruthless pressure—a government which openly supports the usurper and brutal Zionist regime," he wrote.
Khamenei also invoked antisemitic tropes about Jewish people controlling the media.
"The global Zionist elite—who owns most US and European media corporations or influences them through funding and bribery—has labeled this courageous, humane resistance movement as "terrorism," " Khamenei wrote.
Iran has long been one of Israel's greatest regional foes, and tensions have reached new highs in recent months, escalating to the point of Iran launching hundreds of drones and ballistic missiles at Israel.
The Islamic nation has also been known to support Hamas through providing training and funding.
Khamenei has repeatedly expressed support for Hamas, describing them as "defending" their home. He also met with the militant group's leader Ismail Haniyeh earlier this month during the latter's visit to Tehran.

by Lee Smith
Unsurprisingly, Israel’s success against Hezbollah the last two weeks alarmed the former Obama officials staffing the current administration. After all, Obama’s strategy to realign U.S. interests with Iran was predicated on the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which put Iran’s nuclear weapons program under the umbrella of an international agreement guaranteed by the United States. The Iranians armed Hezbollah with missiles in order to deter Israeli action against their nuclear facilities, which is to say that the Lebanese militia serves not only Iranian interests but also those of the Obama faction.
The Biden team tried to stop Netanyahu from continuing his Hezbollah campaign by outlining how it intends to punish Israel in the period between the November election and the January inauguration with sanctions and other anti-Israel measures. But by telegraphing its intentions, the White House inadvertently incentivized Netanyahu to act quickly. Since a Harris victory ensures four to eight more years of a White House filled by Obama aides determined to protect the Iranians and their proxies, and a Donald Trump win means Biden’s punitive actions go away, Israel saw it had nothing to lose in either case. So on Friday, Netanyahu brought the era of permanent resistance to an end by killing the cult leader the Obama faction so desperately wanted to but could not keep alive.
In the past, Israeli officials warned against targeting the terror chief. They feared it might bring about an even more ruthless leader just as Israel’s 1992 assassination of then-Hezbollah chief Abbas al-Mussawi elevated, in their eyes, the more effective Nasrallah. But what made Nasrallah special, what gave rise to the personality cult around the man whose name means “victory of God,” was his relationship with Khamenei.
In 1989, Nasrallah left Lebanon for Iran, where the 29-year-old cleric was introduced to Khamenei. In the vacuum left by Khomeini’s death, Khamenei was working to consolidate his power, which included taking control of Hezbollah, Tehran’s most significant external asset. He saw Mussawi’s assassination as an opening to put his own man in place, and with Hezbollah’s operations against Israeli forces in Lebanon, Nasrallah’s legend steadily grew. Even Israeli officials credited Hezbollah for driving Israel out of the south in 2000, a singular triumph worthy of the name Nasrallah, a victory against the hated Zionists that no other Arab leader could claim.
But the myth of Nasrallah as Turban Napoleon was dispelled with the disastrous 2006 war which he stumbled into by kidnapping two Israel soldiers. Later he said that had he known Israel was going to respond so forcefully, he’d never have given the order. And yet despite the thousands killed in Lebanon, Hezbollahis and civilians, and the billions of dollars worth of damage, he claimed that Hezbollah won just because he survived. Before his demise, he’d been in hiding since 2006.
Israel’s recent demonstrations of its technological prowess show that Nasrallah survived this long thanks only to the sufferance of the Jerusalem government. Netanyahu and others seem to have hoped the Hezbollah problem would resolve itself once the Americans came to their senses and recognized the threat Iran posed to U.S. regional hegemony. But the Israelis misread the strategic implications of the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
The George W. Bush administration’s freedom agenda gave Iraq’s Shia majority an insuperable advantage in popular elections. And since virtually all the Shia factions were controlled by Iran, democratizing Iraq laid the foundations for Iran’s regional empire as well as Obama’s realignment strategy, downgrading relations with traditional U.S. allies like Israel and building ties with the anti-American regime. Even Trump, whose January 2020 targeted killing of Iranian terror chief Qassem Soleimani and his Iraqi deputy Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was far and away the most meaningful operation ever conducted by U.S. forces on Iraqi soil, couldn’t entirely break the mold cast by his predecessors and which the Pentagon protected like a priceless jewel.
U.S. forces are still based in Iraq and Syria to fight ISIS and any other Sunnis the Iranians and their allies categorize as threats to their interests. The detail seems almost like a medieval curse imposed on the losing side in a war. After the Iranians killed and maimed thousands of U.S. troops in Iraq, and helped kill and wound thousands more by urging their Syrian ally Bashar Assad to usher Sunni fighters from the Damascus airport to the Iraqi front, America’s best and bravest are condemned to eternal bondage requiring them to protect Iranian interests forever.
The idea advanced by conspiracy theorists from the U.S. political and media establishment on the left as well as the right that Netanyahu is trying to drag the U.S. into a larger regional war with Iran—a thesis sure to be cited repeatedly in the aftermath of Nasrallah’s assassination—is absurd. The Obama faction, of which Biden and Harris are a part, is in Iran’s corner. Moreover, only a fool could be blind to the fact that the Pentagon way of war, three decades into the 21st century and a world away from the United States’ last conclusive victory, means death for all who pursue it.
If Washington and the Europeans are appalled by Israel’s campaign over the last two weeks, it’s because the Israelis have resurfaced the ugly truth that no modish theories of war, international organizations, or even American presidents could long obscure. Wars are won by killing the enemy, above all, those who inspire their people to kill yours. Killing Nasrallah not only anchors Israel’s victory in Lebanon but reestablishes the old paradigm for any Western leaders who take seriously their duty to protect their countrymen and civilization: Kill your enemies.

Mohammad Hosseini may not have had parents, but he was my brother, your brother and a hero for all of us. He was a volunteer children’s coach, teaching martial arts. He wanted them to have some joy in their lives. All he wanted was a world where kids would be free, free of pain, hunger, and suffering. Where kids would learn, smile and have a future.  His life was so cruelly taken by the Islamic Republic.

Mike Doran’s assessment of why Israel attacked the Houthis (July 21, 2024 on X)
====================
The Biden Doctrine shaped today’s strike by Israel on the Houthis. What is the Biden Doctrine? The principle that Iran is free, either directly or indirectly through its proxies, to attack Israel, but Israel must not attack Iran. “Take the win,” Biden told Netanyahu after Iran, on April 12-13, attacked Israel with the largest ballistic missile barrage in history.
In deference to Biden and his team of Obama staffers, the Israelis restrained themselves in response to Iran. The IDF made due with a demonstration of capabilities rather than launching a counterattack that would have taken from the Iranians something they hold dear.
Supreme Leader Khamenei thanked Team Obama-Biden in its characteristic fashion, namely, by green lighting escalations against Israel by Hezbollah and the Houthis.
The last two weeks on Israel’s northern border have been tough ones for Israel, and then came the Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv yesterday. The attack killed only one man, but it had a massive psychological impact. It showed the world that Tel Aviv was in range, and that the drones that Iran supplies to the Houthis and Hezbollah can pass through Israeli defenses undetected.
Judging by the size of the massive crowd in Sana’a yesterday, braying for Jewish and American blood, the psychological impact was as big there as it was in Jerusalem. Prime Minister Netanyahu and his military advisors therefore decided today to launch a significant counterattack.
They chose their target not just to deter the Houthis but also to send messages to Nasrallah, Khamenei, and Obama — pardon me, Biden. The Israeli targeteers selected the Houthis' oil facilities. Why?
First, psychology. The flames are huge. Everyone in the world will see that the Israelis mean business. This isn’t a quiet signal to decision makers: it’s a message to the world.
Second, it causes the Houthis real pain. They are poor. They have few exports besides terrorism and a relatively limited oil production. The Americans and British, until now, have limited their counterattacks to pinprick strikes against missile launchers, etc. That is to say that the American-British counterattacks have been just big enough to allow officials in Washjngton and London to answer critics by saying that they aren’t taking the Houthi attacks on shipping sitting down, but not actually big enough to deter the Houthis, let alone Iran.
Third, this attack tells Nasrallah and all his Lebanese enablers: “Those Iranian missile Hezbollah stores next to the duty free cognac at the Beirut airport, the Lebanon’s electric grid, its oil storage depots — they and all other elements of critical national infrastructure are all fair game.
Fourth, the operation tells the Iranians not to get too comfortable under the shelter of the Biden Doctrine. “Yes, Mr. Khamanei, Biden did restrain us in April, but we do not intend to let the Americans turn us into your punching bag. Today the Houthis’ oil; tomorrow, yours.” The distance the planes flew between Israel and Yemen is similar to the distance to Iran.
Fifth, the attack tells Team Obama-Biden this is not, at root, an Israeli-Palestinian war. Properly understood it is an asymmetric war against the U.S. launched by Iran. This message sets the stage nicely for Netanyahu’s speech before both houses of Congress on Wednesday.

Extermination works. At first. This is the terrible lesson of history. If Israel is not stopped — and no outside power appears willing to halt the genocide in Gaza or the destruction of Lebanon — it will achieve its goals of depopulating and annexing northern Gaza and turning southern Gaza into a charnel house where Palestinians are burned alive, decimated by bombs and die from starvation and infectious diseases, until they are driven out. It will achieve its goal of destroying Lebanon — 2,255 people have been killed and over one million Lebanese have been displaced — in an attempt to turn it into a failed state. And, it may soon realize its long cherished dream of forcing the United States into war with Iran. Israeli leaders are publicly salivating over proposals to assassinate Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei and carry out airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear installations and oil facilities.

For weeks after the surprise election of reformist President Masoud Pezeshkian in July, Iranian politicians had been publicly pushing a message of restraint even as Israel increased its attacks on Hizbollah, the Islamic republic’s most important proxy. But after Nasrallah’s killing it was Iran’s military leaders, bent on revenge and fearful the republic was looking increasingly weak, who won the day at the Supreme National Security Council meeting on Monday, said an Iranian official. With little warning, Iran on Tuesday fired about 180 ballistic missiles at Israel, pushing the arch foes closer than ever to the full-blown direct conflict Tehran has been insisting it wants to avoid. “Nasrallah’s assassination was the last straw and Iran has come to the conclusion the Israelis are not going to stop; they are taking harsher measures and now they are going to attack and invade part of Lebanon,” an Iranian official told the Financial Times. “The military commanders persuaded [the council] that if Iran does not [retaliate], it will lose its supporters and it will badly damage its reputation.” In doing so, the supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whose prime aim is ensuring the survival of the republic, has taken a huge risk. He has so far backed Pezeshkian’s overtures to the west in the belief that it is in Iran’s interests to resolve its years-long nuclear stand-off with the US and European powers in a bid to ease sanctions on the crippled economy, say Iranian analysts.
FT piece trying to paint the Iranian strike as maybe the work of overly militaristic hardliners but after Nasrallah's death I was seeing a lot of "the Resistance Axis is done, this is the final victory of Israel"

GENOCIDE IN GAZA DAY 299: ZIONIST OCCUPATION LASHES OUT ACROSS THE REGION, HAMAS LEADER ISMAIL HANIYEH MURDERED IN ISRAELI AIRSTRIKE ON TEHRAN, OCCUPATION BOMBS HEZBOLLAH COMMANDER IN BEIRUT SUBURBS, PALESTINIAN FACTIONS UNITED AGAINST THE ISRAELI OCCUPATION FOR THE FIRST TIME, ZIONIST COLONIAL SETTLERS STORM AL-AQSA MOSQUE, UN SAYS PALESTINIANS TORTURED IN ISRAELI PRISONS, GENOCIDE CONTINUES UNABATED AS VIOLENT AIRSTRIKES TARGET GAZA
On the 299th day of the Israeli occupation's ongoing special genocide operation in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of 3 new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the deaths of no less than 45 Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, while another 77 others were wounded over the previous 24-hours.
It should be noted that as a result of the constant Israeli bombardment of Gaza's healthcare system, infrastructure, residential and commercial buildings, local paramedic and civil defense crews are unable to recover countless hundreds, even thousands of victims who remain trapped under the rubble, or whose bodies remain strewn across the streets of Gaza.
This leaves the official death toll vastly undercounted as Gaza's healthcare officials are unable to accurately tally the number of those killed and maimed in this genocide, which must be kept in mind when considering the scale of the mass murder.
The Israeli occupation on launched a missile strike on Wednesday morning targeting the Hamas Politboro leader Ismail Haniyeh while he visited his residence in the northern suburbs of Tehran, the Iranian capital, where he had arrived to attend the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian.
The Hamas resistance movement has since confirmed the death of Haniyeh, while Iranian Supreme leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei warned that the Zionist regime would receive a "harsh punishment" for the assassination of the Hamas political leader on its territory.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei offered his condolences to the Islamic Ummah, the axis of resistance, and the Palestinian nation over the martyredom of their "valiant leader and the prominent mujahid”.
"The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime, with this measure, prepared the ground for a harsh punishment for itself,” Khamenei stated.
The Iranian leader continued by warning that “We consider blood revenge for him (Haniyeh), who was martyred inside the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as our duty."
Iran's foreign ministry said in its own statement that the blood of Haniyeh won't be wasted, and will instead strengthen the deep and unseparable bonds between Iran and Palestine.
In response to the assassination of Haniyeh, the National and Islamic forces of Palestine announced a general strike and marches, condemning the assassination and issueing a statement mourning his death.
The forces stressed in their statement that this "cowardly assassination" will not break the will and steadfastness of the Palestinian people, but will instead increase their determination and resolve to move forward by adhering to their rights and national principles until freedom and independence can be won.
Meanwhile, prior to the assassination of Haniyeh, the Israeli occupation lashed out in another attack, launching an airstrike on the suburbs of Beirut, on Tuesday night, targeting Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr, called the "right-hand man" of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in the Zionist media.
According to the Times of Israel, the airstrike blew a large hole into the side of an 8-story apartment building in southern Beirut on Tuesday night, which the occupation army claims killed the Hezbollah commander.
The Lebanese Islamic resistance movement has not yet confirmed the death of Shukr.
In more news on Wednesday, July 31st, the various Palestinian factions have united for the first time to stand against the Israeli occupation.
According to the Lebanese National News Agency, the many different Palestinian factions have agreed to end their divisions and strengthen Palestinian unity by signing the Beijing Declaration, on Tuesday morning, in the Chinese capital.
The declaration was signed after the closing ceremony following a reconciliation dialogue held with the various Palestinian factions in Beijing over the period of July 21st through the 23rd.
The compact encompassed a total of 14 different Palestinian factions, including the leaders of bitter rivals Fatah and the Hamas Islamic resistance movement, with China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi present for the ceremony.
Previously, the Hamas and Fatah factions met in China in April for discussions around reconciliation to end 17 years of bitter disputes.
In more news, violent Zionist colonial settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque on Wednesday, backed by the Israeli occupation forces who turned the Old City area of occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem) into a military barracks, according to local reporting.
Palestinian media stated that the Israeli occupation army deployed hundreds of troops around the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, in particular placing a heavy military presence in the vicinity of the gates to the compound, while Zionist soldiers tightened restrictions and measures at the compound's gates, as well as the gates to the Old City, and imposed restrictions on Islamic worshippers.
In further news for Wednesday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights issued a statement stating that Palestinians kidnapped and detained by the Israeli occupation army during the ongoing aggression and genocide in the Gaza Strip were mostly held in secret detention centers, and in some cases, where subjected to treatment that "may amount to torture."
Since the start of the Israel occupation's genocidal war in Gaza, "staggering numbers" of men, women, children, doctors, journalists and human rights defenders have been detained in deplorable conditions, while most have been held without charge or trial.
According to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, Palestinian detainees have faced extremely poor treatment, torture and other violations of basic human rights without due process, which has raised concerns about the arbitrary and punitive nature of the arrests and detentions.
Testimonies collected by the agency point to conditions in prisons run by the Israeli occupation that are worsening, while Palestinian children are among the detainees, who are allegedly being held in some cases with adults.
The UN Commission reported that detainees are being held in "cage-like facilities, stripped naked for long periods, and left in diapers," while other detainees told the Commission they were blindfolded for long periods and subjected to electric shocks, burned by cigarettes, and deprived of food, sleep and water.
"Some detainees reported that dogs were set on them, while others reported being waterboarded, or having their hands tied and their bodies hung from the ceiling. Men and women also reported being subjected to sexual and gender-based violence," according to High Commissioner Turk.
Turk went on to emphasize that international humanitarian law protects all detainees and requires they be treated humanely and protected from all acts of violence or threats of violence.
"International law requires that all persons deprived of their liberty be treated with humanity and dignity, and strictly prohibits torture or other ill-treatment, including rape and other forms of sexual violence. Prolonged incommunicado and secret detention may amount to a form of torture,” Turk said.
The High Commissioner went on to call for prompt, thorough, independent, impartial and transparent investigations into all incidents resulting in serious violations of international law, and to ensure that any perpetrators be held accountable, while all victims and their families have a right to redress and reparation.
Meanwhile, dozens more Palestinians were killed and wounded over Tuesday and Wednesday, while the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued their unparalleled destruction of Gaza's housing, infrastructure and public facilities.
According to local reporting, the occupation army launched a bombardment of a residential house in the Al-Mawasi area, northwest of the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, where thousands of Palestinians have been directed towards after being evacuated from their homes and shelters in other areas of Gaza. As a result of the strike, several civilians were killed and wounded.
At the same time, reports stated that a number of wounded civilians arrived at a Red Cross field hospital after the Israeli occupation forces opened gunfire on the tents of displaced Palestinian families in the Al-Mawasi area.
Local healthcare sources also reported the death of one Palestinian and the injury of 4 others after Zionist warplanes bombed the town of Abasan Al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
IOF artillery shelling also hammered the Al-Zaytoun, Al-Shujaiya, and Al-Tuffah neighborhoods of Gaza City, resulting in large numbers of casualties among civilians, including women and children.
Occupation artillery shelling went on to pummel neighborhoods east of Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip, while violent explosions were recorded in conjunction with heavy gunfire from Zionist military vehicles in the same area.
In another horrific atrocity, a Zionist drone bombed a gathering of civilians in the vicinity of the Electric company in the town of Al-Zawaida, in the central Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of 8 Palestinians who were transported to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the city of Deir al-Balah.
In another war crime and atrocity, two Al-Jazeera journalists were killed in a direct attack by the Israeli occupation army on a civilian vehicle in Gaza City.
Local reporting stated that Al-Jazeera correspondant Ismail al-Ghoul and photographer Rami al-Rifi were killed on Wednesday evening when the Israeli occupation forces bombed their car in the Al-Shati Refugee Camp in Gaza City.
Video clips of the incident showed a civilian vehicle the two journalists were traveling in reduced to rubble, with smoke rising from the remains and blood spattered across the wreckage.
According to Palestinian reporting, more than 155 journalists have been killed by the occupation army since the start of the genocide on October 7th, 2023, while another 100 headquarters of journalistic institutions have been destroyed and over 100 additional journalists have been arrested or detained by the Zionist entity.
As a result of the Israeli occupation's ongoing war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, the endlessly rising death toll now exceeds 39'445 Palestinians killed, including at least 10'300 women and over 15'700 children, while another 91'073 others have been wounded since the start of the current round of Zionist aggression, beginning with the events of October 7th, 2023.
This brings the total number of casualties in Gaza to well over 130'518, or the equivalent of 5.67% of Gaza's 2.3 million residents.
