its time. KAM HEADCANONS
Keefe and tam totally started dating but like. no one knew. they thought that they were best friends or already dating (linh is the only who falls into the latter)
Keefe tries to mess with tams hair. he's in awe about it. like, what does that mf put in it. and why's it so stiff-
They totally wear each other's iconic colours. keefe wears silver jewelley, belts, accessories even if it doesnt fully suit him, and tam just has ice blue stuff on him. im talking. pins and badges, stickers and a pair of earrings.
Keefe is such a swiftie. not up for debate. he just is.
Keefe is bi, and i mean the most useless bisexual ever. he finger guns at everyone. he makes bi jokes. he has frog EVERYTHING. everyone is his type and he is everyones type,
tam is gay and ace. he's totally cool with keefe's flirty/dirty jokes because tam knows and consents to them.
They are the most. physically affectionate people ever. especially keefe with tam. im thinking. the classic boyfriend hug (i like to call it the partner hug), squeezing tam way too tight hugs, lifting tam up hugs. as well as kisses everywhere. like you could map out where keefe has kissed tam and its a whole adventure.
keefe and tam totally have a matching sweater and pj set. its something totally obnoxious and they love it.
THEY. HAVE. HAIRCARE. NIGHTS. these two shits totally exchange hair products and keefe is like "what even is this" and tam is all "this would take like give hours" "beauty takes time." "and money i see"
as for surnames, i cant imagine them taking their parents. especially tam. if at all, they'd both have sencen. but i feel they'd come up with their own surnames. maybe "sensong" or even "samsung" without knowing about the brand (sophie makes fun of them)
sophie was the first to accept them. shes been around humans and understands how hard coming out is because of her highschool classmates (there was 100% gay kids in her class). the rest of them are confused and are like "whats gay" but they support their friend (and learn a bit about them too.........)
sophie 100% takes them both to the forbidden cities after they come out. to buy pride pins. keefe is absolutely enamoured by them and tam is more worried about the environment.
on this fateful trip, keefe learns about different human aesthetics. and it becomes his everything. one day a vsco girl. one day emo. one day barbiecore.
keefe uses the word coquette frequently without knowing what it means. like hed just point and say "thats coquette" and its a crushed soda can.
tam eventually tells him about coquette. does not stop keefe.
tam and keefe are not picky eaters. these two mfs will guzzle anything down
but sophie and fitz are, so when they visit, they just eat mallowmelt. just. mallowment.
kam, fedex, linhella and jenstina. sosingle and marusingle.
cassius didnt know about kam until their wedding day. and boy that was DRAMA
when kam wanted to get married, they went to the council, half of whom freaked out and half of whom applauded. it was a lot of battle, but eventually, a year later, the definition of marriage was changed in the law.
so obviously these two made headlines for being like. the first gay marriage in the lost cities. and lo and behold, cassius finds out.
hes so against it, but he doesnt show it to people in public. ofc, keefe got an angry imparter call from him that he laughed off.
quan however. oh dude was raging. he tried to call tam but BLOCKED.
then fedex and linhella got married and everyone was wth. did the human kid just bring the gay with her?? and not be gay herself??
anywho, on the topic of marriage. keefe totally proposed.
keefe was sick of waiting for tam to propose and caved and bought a ring. it was silver with a blue stone in it in the shape of a kite.
keefe brought tam to a cliff and proposed to him there (saying that if tam said no, its alright bcuz he could jump off)
tam was competely pink and told keefe to "shut the fuck up" and pulled out a ring. BECAUSE TAM WAS PLANNING TO PROPOSE (at a later date)
okay im sucked dry of HCs. lmk if yall have any

Best Friends, right?
A/N: This work is posted as a part of the "be my valentine challenge" by @bemyvalentinechallenge. it´s a little different from what I normally write (fandom and stuff), but the quote immediately remind me of it. It it not fitting to the current situation where the author of "Keeper of the lost cities" left off, but that´s how I´m imagining this situation.
Summary: Keefe Sencen is finally together with Sophie but has to explain why he feels that way about her to his (ex?) best friends Fitz Vacker.
Warnings: spoiler warnings, please do not read if you haven´t read "Stellarlune" of the kotlc series.
Wow, why did they had to get here, on his bed, in his (or better, in his father’s) house?
This- would be a hard talk, he knew that for sure.
Keefe Sencen, infamously the new boyfriend of Sophie Foster, silently sat next to his best friend (or ex-best friend, he wasn’t sure yet) Fitz Vacker.
Obviously he knew, that it had been wrong of him, not to tell his best friend about the crush he had on her, since Fitz was the one who had been in a relationship with her first. But, he just couldn’t understand why Fitz had to be so mean and ignorant to him since he found out.
It wasn’t his fault that he fell in love with her. With Sophie.
"Listen, Fitz. I never meant to crush your relationship with her. I’m really sorry." He started. Fitz didn't even look at Keefe, as if he was an annoying insect that wouldn’t leave his side. God, how much this guy annoyed Keefe.
It took around 5 more minutes till Fitz finally felt like saying something. "Since when did you even like her?" He asked with a really weird tone in his voice, Keefe didn’t eve knew existed.
"Since the day I met her in the hallway and I had to bring her to the hospital wing because she collapsed in my arms." Keefe said, in a quiet tone. This was the most uncomfortable chat he ever had with him.
Fitz gave him a confused look. "I don’t believe you."
What. Did. He. Want. Him. To. Do. About. It.
"Fine. You wanna hear the whole story?" He got a little mad. Him and Sophie were happy together, couldn’t Fitz just accept that?! "I had a TERRIBLE childhood, first living in the shadow of my shitty parents and later in the 'Vacker-Shadow' because the famous Vacker family is the best. Don’t even try convincing me it’s different, because it isn’t. You know it. Then Sophie came and showed me that there is someone who really cares about me and who likes ME and not my last name or looks or funny humor. She was the first one to realize my humor sometimes was a coping mechanism." He noticed that Fitz wanted to butt in multiple times, so Keefe started talking louder and louder, till he was nearly screaming. Hopefully his father wouldn’t hear this rather awkward conversation. "I realized, I could change something in this stupid world." Tears started forming in his stupid blue eyes that he shares with his even more stupid dad. "I did not only fell in love with her. I fell in love with a world through her eyes. She has a different way of looking at problems and people. She’s special, Fitz." He said his name, as if he was some dirty little creature that nobody even wants to look at. "So, if this is still about your pride,and about the topic that you are a better boyfriend for Sophie, you should starts opening up your eyes and realize that YOUR perfect little elvin world is falling apart."
With these words, he simply walked out of the room and slammed the door behind him.
He grabbed his crystal and escaped to Havenfield. Sophie was the only person who would understand him now. And he needed to get a hug, right now.

✧ A/N: hello peeps! here's a mini chapter of what happened at dinner. hope this was okay!
***
CHAPTER 4.5
Keefe walked down the staircase behind Sophie, chewing on his bottom lip. He was pretty sure he vaguely remembered Edaline saying Sophie’s father wasn’t exactly fond of having boys over. He had a feeling this wasn’t going to go very well.
As they approached the dining table, he noticed him. A big, strong guy with blonde hair like his own–except it was straight and combed neatly; very different from Keefe’s unruly, curly locks. Keefe figured he’d come straight from work because he was dressed in a suit, his blue tie loose around his neck.
“Don’t worry,” Sophie said, reading his thoughts. “He might look intimidating but he’s a real softie.” She made her way over and hugged his neck. “Hey Dad!”
Her father immediately smiled at her. He squeezed her back, enveloping her in a bear hug. “Hey kiddo, how’s my girl?”
“Great.” She turned and gestured to me. “Dad, this is my art tutor. His name’s Keefe Sencen.”
He looked at me up and down. “Sencen? Are you Cassius’s kid?”
I gulped. “Yes sir.”
Sophie’s parents looked at each other, an unspoken agreement made. Clearing his throat, he said, “Call me Grady. Welcome, Keefe, have a seat.” I slid into the chair next to Sophie’s, keeping my eyes down on the white plate.
“Let’s say Grace,” Edaline said. She reached for her husband's hand, taking Sophie’s across the table. Grady took my hand with his rough one. And Sophie slid her hand into mine under the table, her gaze making my heart pick up speed as she smiled, no doubt remembering that moment at Walmart. I let out a shaky breath as I closed my eyes.
“Dear Lord, thank you for the food on our table, and blessed the hands that prepared it. And let us welcome our guest, Keefe.” With a collective ‘Amen’, they opened their eyes and dug in.
“So, Keefe,” Grady started as he swallowed a chunk of mashed potatoes. “How did you end up as my daughter’s tutor?”
“Oh, Sophie–”
“Our teacher assigned it to him,” Sophie cut in, shooting Keefe a death glare from the corner of her eye. Grady looked to him for confirmation.
“Yep. That’s what happened.” Was all Keefe added. Grady narrowed his eyes suspiciously, but Edaline changed the subject fast; by the meaningful expression on her face, Sophie must’ve told her already.
“So! How’s dinner, Keefe?”
Keefe shoveled a fork full of spaghetti into his mouth, nodding enthusiastically.  “It’s great, Edaline. Thanks for the invite.”
“Not a problem, honey. Sophie’s friends are always welcome at the table.” She emphasized the word ‘friends’, almost making Sophie choke on her food with laughter.
The rest of dinner was silent except for the sound of their utensils clinking and their chewing. Afterward, Keefe was just getting ready to leave when Grady pulled him aside.
“Okay, kid. Here’s the deal: you date my daughter–”
“It’s– it’s not like that, sir,” Keefe stuttered.
“Oh, don’t be ridiculous, I can see the way you look at her. It’s obvious. If you two start dating, you better not break her heart or you won’t live to see another day.”
Keefe nodded stiffly.
“And,” Grady continued. “No kissing, no holding hands, and–”
“Keefe!” Sophie called. “C’mon, I’ll drive you home.”
“Got it, sir,” Keefe mumbled, zooming out of the room as fast as he could. The embarrassment was too much to bear. During the car ride home, he pretended to be sleeping so he’d be left alone to his own thoughts.
Grady said it was obvious. Was it really? Did he really look at Sophie that way, or was her dad overreacting? Could people see it at school too, when he joked around with her in art class?
But this wasn’t about whether other people could see it. It was about whether he had a…a crush on Sophie or not.
Did he? It had only been a week or so since they met. Could he have developed feelings for her already? He figured anyone would after spending time with her. How could they not? She had that gorgeous smile, those pretty eyes. Who said brown eyes weren’t to die for? Brown was the color of honey, of amber and onyx. They were just as beautiful as any other.
Don’t even get him started on her laugh, the one that would echo out into the sky and lift his lips up into a smile against his will. It was like magic, a magic he hated and loved at the same time. He hated the power she held over him without knowing it. He hated the way she’d always have the upper hand and smirk at him when she did, leaving him blushing like an idiot.
But most of all, Keefe hated the fact that his heart would race every time she looked his way.
It was time he faced it. He had a crush. A tiny crush, but a crush nevertheless.
“Keefe, it’s your stop.” Sophie shook his shoulder gently, peering at him through her lashes. Keefe rubbed his eyes.
“Thanks,” he muttered, getting out of the car and scurrying to the door.
“See you Monday?”
Keefe felt his lips turning up. Damn you Foster, and that sweet voice of yours.
“Yeah. See you on Monday, Foster.”

The kotlc guys as boyfriends!
Tam Song:
I get the feeling that the number one aspect he’s looking for in a relationship is loyalty.
So he is 100% loyal. All of the guys are, but Tam goes the extra mile.
Threatening anyone who dares utter a negative word about his s/o, but also gushing about them to his sister.
Speaking of threatening people, he’s also pretty protective.
And I don’t just mean in a way that has to do with making sure others treat his s/o right, but also making sure they’re treating themselves right.
“Have you eaten today?” “Are you thirsty?” “Cold?” “Hey, don’t stress too much about that homework assignment, you’ll do great.”
Is never turned off by feminine activities. His partner wants to paint his nails? Go for it. His partner wants him to braid their hair or braid his hair? Linh taught him how, he’s got it down to a science.
His s/o’s parents probably wouldn’t like him the first time they meet, because of his exterior, but love him once they that he’s really just a lovesick puppy for his s/o.
Fitz Vacker:
GENTLEMEN GENTLEMEN GENTLEMEN
He’s just screams “Are you cold? Take my jacket.”
Well, cape I guess.
He’s looking for someone to marry. He doesn’t date for the sake of it, he dates to find a lifelong partner.
Respectfullllllll
Literally asks if he can hold his s/o’s hand.
Whoever he dates would have to get along with his family, specifically his sister.
Such a family man
Wants at least three children in the future
Cuddler
Loves hugs and any form of physical contact. ESPECIALLY if his s/o is the one to initiate it.
Dex Dizznee:
Again, respectfullll
Would never pressure his s/o into anything
So freaking supportive
Wanna join a bramble team? He’s at every game. Wanna take an art class? Da Vinci wishes he was as good as his s/o. (I know he prob doesn’t know who Da Vinci is but shhh)
Again, family man. Would also need to date someone that gets along with his fam.
He thinks his partner hung the moon. Is fascinated by them.
Very shy at the start of a relationship, but once he eases into it, it’s like he’s been dating them for years.
He needs someone willing to listen to him talk about his gadgets and technopathy. He would be overjoyed if his partner found his creations cool or interesting.
Keefe Sencen:
Always wants to make his partner laugh. It’s his life goal, I swear.
I get the vibe that his partner would have to wait a LONG time before Keefe would tell them he liked them. If his partner wanted him to ask them out, that is.
Needs to date a patient person in general, tbh.
His s/o is his main inspiration for all of his art. He can look at anything and somehow relate it to them. Paints them 24/7.
Would be down to do whatever with his s/o. Pranks, baking, dancing, all of it.
Very touch-starved, but still would ask for consent before anything.
Such a good listener. Is fine with listening to his partner rant for hours.
Would prob also be really soothed by his s/o’s voice.
Is prob terrified to even think about children. But would consider it if he knew that it was important to his partner.
Part 2? With the girls?

The First Date: A Sokeefe Short Story
Sophie Foster x Keefe Sencen
Fluff, light Stellarlune spoilers
Word count: 1,745
Summary: Keefe and Sophie prepare for their first real date. Keefe looks for a gift, and Sophie tries to look nice.  Ironically, they both go to Biana for help.
I originally posted this on Wattpad but thought Tumble might enjoy it too.
I don't own Keeper of the Lost Cities.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Keefe’s pov:)
He wanted to get her something, needed to. It had been so long since they'd had time to hang out. Honestly, if he really thought about it, the last time they were alone was when he first kissed her...and she had kissed him back. No matter how much he smirked at her, winked at her, teased her, and tried to hide behind confidence, he still woke up giddy every morning knowing she had kissed him back.
But what was he supposed to get her? They didn't exactly have the most normal relationship.
Did they even have a relationship? He wasn't entirely sure.
Clearly, they had something; otherwise, the Mysterious Miss F. wouldn't fall into his arms every time they got bad news or leap up to hug him when they figured out even the smallest detail. Clearly, they had something because he was the one who got to kiss her goodbye every night, even if it was always after she made him promise not to do anything stupid without her.
His first thought was to ask Fitz; after all, Fitz was his best friend and Foster's Cognate. But just as he was about to leap to Everglen he stopped. What he was about to do clicked. He had been planning to go to Foster's ex-boyfriend, who had been really hurt when he found out she and Keefe had kissed, and who had probably not gotten over her that quickly, for help finding a gift.
What a stupid idea.
His next idea was to go to Dex: they had grown closer over the years, but...Dex had also had a crush on Sophie for a bit. And, during that time, had given her a few gifts. Thinking about it, Keefe didn't actually know how long Dex had like Foster. Besides, she'd be able to tell if he went to Dex for help.
Okay. So I need a new plan.
He sat back down and pulled out his Imparter.
"Biana Vacker," he said slowly, having not fully thought out what he was doing.
A moment later Biana's face popped up on his Imparter, though to Keefe it felt like hours.
"Honestly, don't either of you know how to date someone?" was the exclamation he heard first.
"What?" Keefe asked caught off guard.
"Your girlfriends here," Biana explained, then quickly added, "Well not right here. I left the room when you hailed. I figured you were hailing me because of something to do with your date, so...how can I help?"
"I...First of all, not sure she's my girlfriend–"
"Yeah, you're just two friends who kiss all the time and are constantly jumping into each other's arms," Biana cut him off sarcastically.
"I feel like I should get her a gift," he confessed, "but I only thought of that an hour ago and I can't figure out what to get her."
"Well, jewelry is always an option, though Sophie doesn't care about all that stuff as much as I do. I know my brother gave her a very cheesy teal heart necklace once, so don't do anything like that. He also used to try and bake stuff, but since you're going on a picnic and Edaline's cooking I wouldn't suggest you do that either."
"Okay, no cheesy heart necklaces in her 'favorite' color. And no cooking. You're so helpful... has she told you anything she wants?"
"Not really," Biana answered truthfully before joking, "If I were to ask her now though, she'd probably say you."
"Thank you. That gave me a perfect idea," he told her before turning back towards the Leapmaster and saying clearly, "Atlantis."
(Sophie’s pov:)
"Is everything alright?" Sophie asked when Biana walked back into her room.
"Probably," Biana responded. "Your boyfriend just needed help with something."
"He's not... we're not... I–" Sophie stumbled over the words.
"He's not your boyfriend, I know. He's just your friend who winks at you and smirks at you and who always has his arm draped around your shoulders."
"I want to wear something red," Sophie shot out, changing the subject.
"What?"
"Before he hailed you, you had asked me what I was thinking of wearing. I want to wear something nice. And red. And less fight-y than what I normally wear."
"So, like, a dress?" Biana asked, eyebrows raised.
"Yes," Sophie replied with a sigh, "But NOT a gown. And I'm not wearing the type of heels you normally wear."
"Sorry, all I'm hearing is that you want to wear a dress (which you never do) and that you want to wear heels...Who are you, and what have you done with Sophie Foster?"
Sophie laughed, "Biana, I'm going on a date, not into battle. And I find it as weird as you do, but I came to you because I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to clothes for the sake of looking nice."
"Oh, honey, we don't want you looking nice. Looking nice is for school and talking to the Council. We, want you to look good. Cute. Hot."
And with that, Biana turned towards her closet to begin the both organized and messy, task of finding something that both she and Sophie could agree on. And eventually, they did agree on something, with a surprisingly few number of compromises.
And so, Sophie left Everglen in a very pretty red dress. It was made of a velvety soft berry red satin. The dress pattern itself was a very simple a-line wrap dress. It had sleek bishop sleeves that fell three-fourths of the way down her arms. What made the dress so special was the detailing. It was adorned with pure gold embroidery. Flowers and swirls, stars and vines. And, as Biana made sure to point out, beautiful swans outlined in gold and filled in with black.
With the dress, Biana had convinced Sophie to wear very slight kitten heels. They were mostly black with gold swirls embossed onto the inward-facing side of the shoes and one-inch block heels that Sophie found to be surprisingly comfortable. And, "to top of the look," as Biana had put it, ruby earrings hung from Sophie's ears and a scattering of matching ruby hairpins decorated her braided headband like fresh morning dew decorated the pastures of Havenfield.
When the gates of the impressive Everglen estate closed behind her, Sophie could have sworn they sounded lighter than normal. As if even the cold metal gates were telling her to lighten up and enjoy one of the few quiet, comforting moments of her life.
With that, she raised her home crystal up toward the light, stepping into the beam and leaping back to Havenfeild.
When Sophie arrived back home, she immediately went to Havenfeild's beautiful kitchen.
"Well, don't you look pretty," Edaline commented.
"Thanks. Biana really worked her magic," Sophie said, before asking, "Where's the picnic box? I don't want to be late."
I also don't know where I'm going.
Unsurprisingly, given their quick planning, Sophie and Keefe had forgotten to set an actual place for their picnic date.
"Keefe already took it," Edaline explained. "He wanted me to tell you to meet him where Flori told Sandor and Grizel to go. I think he made that intentionally confusing because I have no idea where that is. I take it you do, though, given the mix of understanding and 'oh how sweet' that is your current facial expression."
Maybe it wasn't a mistake that we didn't set where to meet or where we were going. Maybe he had a plan.
"I do," Sophie replied.
As she left the house again and began to walk down through the pastures and trees, she couldn't help but reminisce about all the ways her life would be darker had she not realized that Keefe really liked her. And, that she liked him just as much.
Finally, she pushed back the curtain of vines blocking the hidden area from the rest of their cruel world. And, laid out on the ground in front of her was the most perfect sight ever.
Her not-yet-actually-boyfriend-but-still-definitely-dating boyfriend was sitting on the most cliche human-style picnic blanket surrounded by all of their favorite foods, moving each plate the tiniest bit so it would all be perfect.
And she couldn't help the tiny giggle that passed by her lips.
And his head immediately shot up so he was looking at her.
"Foster!"
"Hi, Keefe," she said, at first fighting the grin that was trying to spread across her face before giving up and letting her happiness shine through.
He jumped up, rambling, "I wanted to get you a present. You know, 'cause this is our first real date and all. And at first, it was really hard. And, I almost made the terrible mistake of going to Fitz for help, but instead I hailed Biana and she gave me the perfect idea. Wait here."
And with that, he disappeared behind a tree. Sophie wasn't sure if she should sit down yet or not, so she settled for leaning against a tree with the plan to take cues from Keefe.
He reemerged a moment later with a giant bow on his head. And not just any type of bow either. A big silk ribbon bow. The type with wire to support the bow someone might tie it in. And, as she studied it longer, Sophie realized that one side of the ribbon was an absolutely beautiful ice blue and the other was a stunning brown that shone gold in the light. Each of their eye colors was displayed on one side of the ribbon; a perfect balance of them.
Seeing her cocked eyebrow he explained, "I'm your present, Foster; if you'll have me."
"Are you asking me if you can be my boyfriend?"
"Yes."
"Which means you're asking me to be your girlfriend..."
"That would be how that works, yeah–"
"Yes."
"Really?"
"Absolutely."
"And–"
"I still have no regrets. And you aren't going to mess this up. You are already doing an amazing job. You have been doing an amazing job."
He went back to sitting on the picnic blanket and picked up one of the many delicious-looking treats Edaline had made for them.
"C'mere, Foster," he said, sounding almost dopey from the calm and content feeling they were sharing and patting the ground next to him.
And she obliged. Sitting down next to him, picking up one of the pastries, and leaning her head on his shoulder.
Keefe sighed, "I could get used to this...Sophie."

thoughts/emotions on keefe sencen and art as a coping mechanism?
the boy has the coping mechanism as i did at 9-12 and i get how it’s a way for him to escape from the reality he’s living in.
it’s an escape from his parents constantly berating his every action, it’s an escape from feeling the need to be perfect, it lets him feel his emotions without really needing to feel them. it’s a release and it’s something he enjoys
he’s constantly being told he’s not good enough and it’s the one thing he feels like he’s good at, and when his dad destroyed his art it became a way to rebel against him. show Cassius that he doesn’t care what he says that he’s gonna do the thing that makes him happy weather he likes it or not. but he had to do it in hiding because he didn’t want his art to be destroyed
when he lives with Elwin he expects the same reaction and hides his art because as far as he knows the only person who appreciate and supports it is Sophie. then one day Elwin finds a doodle of bullhorn that he had drawn on a napkin before he went out to play bramble. Elwin hangs it up on the fridge even though it’s just a doodle on a napkin. Keefe comes inside and sees his little doodle hanging on the fridge, surprised that Elwin would even hang something like that up, but he doesn’t say anything. instead he paints a hyper realistic picture of bullhorn and leaves it on Elwin’s desk in his office before going over to havenfeild.
that’s how it is for a couple months Keefe draws a picture and leaves it somewhere Elwin can find it. over time he doesn’t feel the need to hide in his room and starts to paint in the living room but would cover his painting out of instinct whenever Elwin walked by. Elwin never acknowledged that he was painting and would sometimes grab a book and sitin the same room not really acknowledging what Keefe was doing because he wanted him to feel comfortable. after some time Elwin decides to asks Keefe to design some cute labels for his elixirs and Keefe obliges but is still nervous that what he draws isn’t gonna be good enough.
he’s surprised when Elwin sees his concept art for the labels and gets real excited. Elwin doesn’t care that they’re just rough sketches he does care that they are not perfect, he’s just happy that Keefe is drawing and enjoying himself. so Keefe stops hiding his drawings and paintings and starts to out in the open more and more. in the kitchen in the living room in Ewlin’s lab while he makes elixirs with Kesler.
one day Elwin calls him inside from playing bramble and tells him to put a blind fold on. Elwin leads him to a part of the house that had been formally empty other than his sewing room and took the blindfold off to reveal a Art Studio.
it had completely empty white walls, but there where buckets upon buckets of paint for Keefe use to fill with murals. there was easels and canvas, a shelf full of empty sketchbooks and paints of every color. one entire wall was covered in floor to ceiling windows and there where double doors the opened to a balcony that overlooked the ocean.
Keefe was speechless he just stood with his mouth hanging open. Elwin said
“i’m not much of an artist when it comes to painting, but i tried to get everything rig-“
Keefe cut him off tackling him in a hug
“thank you”
he managed to choke out desperately not wanting to cry. Elwin squeezed him back and said
“my sewing room is right next door and we share that balcony now we can do our things right next door to each other”
Keefe nodded tears rolling down his cheeks, for the first time in his life he actually had an adult that didn’t hate his art, didn’t just admire it but encouraged it, and he couldn’t be more greatful.

I've got this new tattoo, it reminds me of you
Hi!! Welcome to my fic for Keefitz Week 2023! Thank you so much to Summer (@when-wax-wings-melt) and Avery (@skylilac) for hosting this!! Tragically, I did not finish all of the chapters in time, so keep an eye out!
Read on ao3 here!!
A mix of the prompts, hence the. multichap part.
Keefe Sencen was a maker of bad decisions. Quite frequently, as his friends loved to remind him. In his freshman year of college, his (former) best friend Fitz Vacker had suggested being roommates for their second year. Keefe had enthusiastically agreed.
But then they’d had a falling out over the summer. And he’d forgotten that they’d put in a request to room together. So there he was: Keefe Sencen, 19 years old, clutching a box (that had all of his decorations) as he stared at Fitz. Fitz who’d changed since July, skin darker and freckles more prominent. And fuck. His hair now had a teal streak that matched the colored contacts he wore. Keefe fought back the blush, and gave him a nervous grin.
“Hey, Fitz.”
“Keefe.”
“Keefe! Hey, how’s your summer been?” Thank god for Biana. If she noticed anything wrong, she didn’t say anything, just looping an arm around his shoulders to ruffle his hair.
“Pretty good! You?”
She shrugged, pale cream shirt contrasting beautifully with her skin. “Alright.” She had a dark red streak in her curls, matching Fitz’s. “We went to the beach a lot. Speaking of which! You should come with us on Saturday! There’s one super close, and I think everyone else is free!”
“I’ll clear my schedule.”
“Clear what? You don’t do anything!”
“Hey! I’ll have you know I am a very busy man—”
She cut him off with a laugh, eyes scrunching up from her grin. “Mhm, sure. Anyway, Fitz, you’re all good, yeah?”
He looked up from where he was putting books on his shelf. “Yep. See you later.”
“Have fun! I love you, don’t be stupid.” Biana hugged her brother, and then darted back to give him a quick squeeze. “I’ll see you on Saturday!” She blows them each a kiss and flounces out of the room, shutting the door behind her.
“Right…I—I’m gonna go get my bedding.” Keefe fled, leaving the box behind. He grabbed the laundry bag and his pillow, and leaned back against his car. This was such a bad idea.
Back in their dorm, he unpacked, made his bed, and set up his lights. He’d texted Fitz the week before, the first time they’d spoken since…That Day. He pushed the discomfort aside, and focused on getting his lights to be perfect. They had a bulletin board in between the beds, and he had decided to put a set around it. The lights are star shaped, connected by thin copper wires. He risked a look at Fitz’s side. He had slipped out, claiming dinner plans with his parents. (Keefe called bullshit, but only internally. Alden and Della had gotten divorced in their 6th grade year, and the two tried to stay away from each other.)
He glanced at the black bookshelf Fitz had brought, already filled with books. Keefe noted with a slight pang of sadness that he hadn’t brought any of the books they’d annotated together. But it was fine. Totally fine.
He’d eventually settled into his bed, climbing up the ladder. Fitz had taken the lower bed. Something ached in his chest. Fitz remembered. He remembered how much Keefe hated sleeping close to the ground, so accustomed to curling up far above the floor.
The door slid open and shut, Fitz left in an exhausted slump. He eyed him. Fitz ran his hands through his hair, head against the door.
“…Fitz? Are you okay…?” Maybe dinner with his parents had actually happened. Fuck.
“Keefe? You’re here?”
He couldn’t ignore the sharp concern anymore and scrambled down the ladder. Fitz blinked at him blearily, faded tear tracks on his cheeks.
“Yeah. C’mon, let’s get you in bed, okay?” He fell into a similar routine, born of many years. Fitz had always been like this after extended time with Alden. (Keefe had promised to never let Alden near him again, after the last time this happened. Just another way he failed.)
Fitz stumbled after him, falling face down on his bed.
“Okay, I know. Do you mind if I help you change? You’re gonna complain if you wake up in jeans.”
He mumbled something, and gave a slight nod.
“Great!” Keefe rummaged for a pair of pajama pants and a soft pajama shirt—one that proclaimed him as the captain of their Academic Decathlon team, Vacker in bold letters across the back. He helped him into the pants and shirt, and pulled the soft comforter over him. “Sleep well.”
Keefe left the room. It was just so confusing. They fought, but that was his best friend, but they had screamed until they lost their voices, but he had grown up next to him, and just…ugh.
He wandered the halls for a while, familiarizing himself with the new dorms. He recognized some of the people, but Foxfire was massive. He followed one of the hallways, nearly tripping over someone. “Oh! My bad, wait. Dex…?”
The one in question blinked up at him, eyes wide. “Keefe? What are you doing here?”
“I live here. You?”
“Oh, I was helping Tam move in. I live in Onyx.”
Keefe had lived there last year, and he winced in sympathy. “Good luck, dude. You’ll need it.”
“Dex? Is something wrong?” Tam poked his head out, bangs redyed silver.
“Oh, no! I found Keefe though!” Dex gestured towards him, and Keefe smiled awkwardly. Things had always been…odd around Tam. There was some tension between the two of them, and he hadn’t been able to put his finger on it during high school, and he presumably wouldn’t be able to do it now.
“Right…who are you rooming with?”
His smile felt painted on. “Fitz.”
Tam’s eyebrows twitched up, and he shared a quick glance with Dex. “Mmm. Well. I’m going to finish setting up.” Tam went back inside. Dex gave him an apologetic smile.
“I’m gonna go too. You’re going to the thing on Saturday, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Awesome! See you then!” Dex gave him a cheerful grin and vanished into Tam’s room. Left alone, Keefe sighed and trudged back to his dorm. Fitz was asleep, and he changed into his own pajamas, keeping the lights off.
It’s barely 10, but god, he’s exhausted.
He woke up the next morning to Fitz’s incessant alarm clock, a familiar sound from junior high and high school sleepovers also known as when Keefe would be kicked out.
Keefe yawned, and it’s second nature to groan good naturedly at Fitz. “Dude, turn it off.” One loud smack later, and he’d drifted back off to sleep.
He was rudely awakened just a few minutes later. Fitz’s alarm blared again, and he let out a loud complaint.
“Up and at ‘em, Keefe! You need to get ready.” Curse Fitz and his incessant morning person-ness.
“Ugh. Fine, but I get the bathroom first.”
Fitz grumbled, but acquiesced, and Keefe slipped inside before he could. That was the nice thing about living in Ruby Hall was that they had attached bathrooms, unlike Onyx where you had to go to the end of the hall.
He showered as quickly as possible and went back to the main room, dressed in a pair of black pants and a pale green shirt. Fitz slid past him, not saying a word. He sidestepped the already growing pile of shoes to go to his desk, pushed neatly under his bed.
Keefe sat down, flicking the lights to his mirror. He pushed gel through his hair, making it artfully messy. Once he was done, he turned on his hairdryer, carefully drying his hair. Sophie had made fun of him whenever he was over for group sleepovers, as he had almost always borrowed hers. Well. It wasn’t his fault she didn’t really care about her appearance. He had standards!
The bathroom door opened and shut, signaling Fitz’s return. He didn’t turn to look, intent on getting his concealer blended out. The habit had started in high school, when he was regularly pulling all-nighters. And so there he was.
After that, he checked the time. The alarm went off at 7:30, and his first class was at 9, just down the road, in the Topaz Fine Arts Center. As the name suggested, Topaz housed all of the fine arts, other than the auditorium. (That was next door, known as the Gemstone Theater.) It was just now 8:30, and if he hurried, he could swing by the coffee shop for a quick breakfast.
“Okay, bye Fitz, see you!” He grabbed his backpack and rushed out. He didn’t bother getting his car, instead running down the road to the coffee shop.
“Oh! Keefe, hey! Haven’t seen you in a while,” Marella enthused.
“Hey, Marella! Can I—”
“Large iced mocha and sausage egg sandwich?”
“Yep! Thank you!” He paid her, before sliding to the pick up counter. Linh brought over his order, giving him a gentle smile. “Good morning, Keefe.”
“Hey, Linh! How was your summer?”
“It was good. You’re coming Saturday, yes?”
“Mhm! I’ll see tomorrow morning, probably.”
“Good. Have a good class!”
“Thanks, Linh! Bye!” He dashed out the door, clutching his coffee. His first class of the day was with Prof. Palmore. She taught graphic design, and generally didn’t care if students ate in her class, especially since it went from 9 to 11:30.
Keefe waved at a few students he recognized, before entering Topaz. It was nice to be back. Quietly he walked down the hall, making sure to not disturb the other classrooms. Most of the campus generally didn’t care, but he’d seen someone cry from too much noise during the second week last year. Generally, it was just a good idea to not bother people.
Prof. Palmore’s door was open, the woman in question sitting behind her desk. She didn’t have a typical lecture hall, instead setting up shop in the computer lab.
“Good morning, Keefe.”
“Hey, Prof! How are you?”
“I’m doing well. How about you?”
“Pretty good! Still waiting for the caffeine to kick in.”
She smiles at him, and he grins back. “Well, why don’t you go ahead and pick a seat? We’ll be jumping right in this year, since this class is solely for recurring students.”
He nods and takes his seat. Other students slowly trickled in, taking seats around the computer lab. He’s in the back corner, at his favorite computer. Most everyone sticks to the middle and up, but he’d found this spot last year. Sue him, he was attached.
Sophie dropped into the seat next to him, clutching a massive container of coffee. She looked exhausted, eye bags ever present.
“Good morning!”
“Don’t talk to me.”
She had been taking classes here since high school, testing into the dual credit programs. Plus, their graphic design class always ended with the class here, so you could start your second year of the course as a freshman.
He took another sip of his coffee and watched as she upended a can of Monster into it. “Soph, it’s day one.”
She didn't respond.
His next class was at two, so he swung by to a little hole in the wall diner. Known as The Canteen, it served the best pasta he’d ever had. Inside, one of the workers from last year was there. Ophelia gave him a wide grin, reaching over to give him an elbow bump. “It’s the Keefester! How’ve you been?”
“I’ve been good! Definitely looking forward to some more of your pesto chicken.”
She snorts and motions him to follow her. She seats him at his table (again, one of his favorites), and pulls out her notepad. “So. Water, pesto and chicken pasta?”
“Yep! You know me so well,” he laughs and bats his eyelashes. She rolls her eyes playfully and saunters off. He messes around on his phone while he waits, texting back and forth with Biana. She sends him a snap, making half a heart with her fingers. He snaps her back, making the other half. His food arrives a few minutes later and he digs in.
It’s just as good as he recalls, and soon he’s paying for his meal. His next class—Calculus—is in Peridot, down by the library. The “core” buildings (science, math, english, history) form a loose ring around it, and it’s…fairly common to see someone run from a building to the library and back again.
He refills his water bottle inside and double checks the room number. It’s taught by a…Professor Glade, so that should be fun.
Keefe walks in, smiles at the teacher, and goes to sit down. It’s filling up fast, and he makes a note to arrive early to get a good seat. They just go over the syllabus and he makes idle chatter with the person next to him. Their name is Sage, they have bright pink and black box braids, and quite possibly the funniest person he’s ever met. (Excluding himself, of course.)
They exchange numbers and he waves as he leaves, intent on going back to his dorm. He needs to wrap up an assignment for his graphic design class, properly go over the syllabi he got, and draft up a schedule with Fitz.
He makes it back to his dorm, relocks the door and kicks his shoes off. At his desk, he pulls out his highlighters and the syllabus from Calc.
A little past 5, Fitz falls through the door. Okay, not exactly, but definitely close enough. He looks murderous.
Keefe quickly looks back down. Before summer break, he would have watched. But now…he goes back to reading, making small notes in the margins. Sophie had gifted him a copy of the three books of the Pentecost & Parker series, and he thinks he has solved it when their door bursts open again.
It’s Tam, who throws a bag at Keefe. “Here’s your stuff.” He leaves just as quickly as he came, door slamming behind him.
“What was that about?”
“I asked for my stuff back. I guess it works.” The two of them had had a…less than stellar breakup over spring break last year. It had been messy. And dramatic. And hella awkward.
He opened the bag, pulling out the books and the hoodie. Plus a pair of sweatpants that he’d completely forgotten about. His phone went off and he cursed. “I have to get to the tattoo parlor. I’m working till closing tonight, so I’ll try to not wake you up.”
He bolted out the door, down to his car. It’s a quick drive, and soon he’s pulling into the lot. Renee gives him a grin from behind the counter, wearing a sleeveless shirt that shows off the tattoos on her arms.
“Hey, Renee! How was your summer?”
“It was great! You?”
“It was alright. Do I have anything scheduled?”
She flips through the logbook. “Two. A mother and daughter here for a basic ear piercing and two people for noses. They’re together. Walkins?”
“That’ll work.”
She nods, reaching over to get the phone as it rings. “Hi, this is Sea of Ink, how can I help you today?” He hands her a pen and the legal pad, and she gives him a distracted smile. “Mhmmm. We do have a piercer, yes. We’re open all evening, but he won’t be available from 6 to 7. How does 8 sound?” A pause. “Excellent! We’ll see you then!”
“What do they want?”
“Helix. Anyway, I’ll be taking my 15 at 7. Do you want me to bring dinner for you?”
“Ooh, yeah sure. How ‘bout Jerry’s?”
“Sounds awesome, I’ll text you my order.” He heads to the back, going to wash his hands and get his supplies.
It’s a fairly uneventful time. Closing shift is always really chill, especially once Victoria arrives. Her bangs are still white, but she’s dyed her hair a dark blue, and gotten an industrial. It has a rainbow sheen, to no one’s surprise.
They don’t have many appointments, and Victoria has a firm no walkins policy. Renee hasn’t ever had a problem with telling someone to fuck off if they disrespect that, so they’re all set.
At ten to eight, he’s sitting on the loveseat, feet up on the seat. He’s reading again, this one a gift from Della. It’s part of a box set of Blood of Olympus series. This time, it’s the Mark of Athena. He’s afraid to write his little notes on the page, so instead he has a stack of sticky notes and tabs.
Renee is sitting behind the reception counter, a textbook cracked open. Victoria lounges in one of the armchairs, drawing on her iPad. The bell rings as someone walks inside, and he flinches as he looks up. Fitz is here, looking ridiculously out of place.
“Hi, I’m Fitz Vacker. I work at the new flower shop, you know, the one down the road? It’s called Bouquet Boutique? Anyway, I wanted to give you a bouquet, if you want it.”
Renee hurries over to take the bouquet, which is made up of pale blue and cream flowers. “Thank you so much!! I’m Renee Bright, and that’s Victoria Parsons. Welcome to Sea of Ink, and we offer a discount to shops on the road. Oh, and that’s one of our piercers, Keefe Sencen!”
“I thought you said you had to work…?”
“This is my job…?”
The two stare at each other, before Fitz flushes and turns away. “I should head back, but it was nice meeting you!”
“Same here! See you around, Fitz!” Renee waves cheerfully before she turns to him. “How do you know him?”
Victoria lets out an incredulous laugh. “Dude, you can’t just ask him why they know each other, oh my god.”
She holds her hands up. “That came out wrong! All I meant was that he doesn’t seem like your…type.”
“My…type?”
“Yeah! I mean, he’s not exactly the kind of person you typically date, yeah?”
“I…we aren’t together!” He can feel his cheeks heating up.
“Oh. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to assume—”
He waves her off. “It’s fine. I should get ready for my next appointment, okay?”
She nods, lips pursed. His client comes in though, clearly used to this. He does it quickly, adding to the piercings slowly climbing up their ears.
And then he stays until nine, reading and joking around with Renee and Victoria. And that’s that. Rinse, repeat, huh?
-------
Thank you so much for reading!!! I hope you liked it! This has been so much fun to write!

Criminal Children
Dawn, Charri and Adalin sage introduction
Tags: @oraliefathdon4eternalia @literaturewithliz
Characters: Dawn Redek, Charri Aestra and Adalin Bellara
Summary: The three friends sneaking into Foxfire after hours together. They find out about the og 5’s banishment while doing so. We get to see their personas and a little insight into their lives:
————————————————————————
"It's not that dangerous." Dawn whispers to her worried friend. "Stop bitting your nails, Charri." Dawn pulls her friend's hand back.
"How do you feel about breaking the rules. What if the council finds out?" Charri turns to start pacing but the brunette boy beside her stops her.
"Charri, just breath." Adalin grabs her shoulders.
"Like you know anything about being like me, Adalin Bellara! Your a perfect telepath with the best ability. I'm just some guster girl!" Charri pushes him back.
“Your not just some girl!” Adalin argues back, clear on his face that he doesn’t want Charri talking bad about herself.
"Let's just go." Dawn grabs their arms as she drags them towards the building. Problem is, Charri is the only one that knows how to pick a lock and get in.
"At least check the place for thoughts." Charri twists her ginger hair around her finger.
"Was going to anyways!" Adalin argues.
"Both of you shut up or we will get caught." Dawn whisper shouts.
Silence surrounds the friends as Charri pulls out her hair pin. Starting on the lock as Dawn flashes light to help her see.
*Thanks." Charri whispers as she jams the hairpin in the lock. Slamming her body against the door.
The door swings open to the Foxfire amphitheater. Posters everywhere for clubs and important news.
"Let's go!" Adalin pounds his fist in the air as the three friends walk in. The high ceilings above them. Dawn quickly turns to close the door, lowering suspicion.
"Wanna look at the news." Charri says as she makes her way over to the pin up board. "Light." She snaps her fingers in Dawn's face.
"Right." Dawn lights up the pin up board as the three surround it. Curious faces.
Sophie Foster, Fitz Vacker, Biana Vacker, Keefe Sencen and Dex Dizznne banished from the lost cities.
The actions that caused this are disclosed for family safety and their own. Their actions are irreversible.
“That can’t be right, Dex and Sophie are Dawn’s cousin’s best friends.” Adalin mutters, snapping Charri and Dawn out if their trances.
“Marella surly wouldn’t become friends with these horrible people.” Dawn stars to ball her hands into fists.
“Dawn, keep calm.” Charri pulls her best friend into a hug, wrapping her wraps around her. Dawn’s tears running down her face, into Charri’s tunic. Dawn twists her fingers into a not in the back of Charri’s tunic.
The light goes out as Adalin keeps squinting at the posters. Mumbled cried coming from Dawn and small whispers of encouragement from Charri.
“Let’s just keep exploring.” Dawn pulls back from Charri. Her blonde hair tumbling down her shoulders. Tears streaked in Charri’s ginger hair.
“Agreed.” Charri and Adalin say at the same time.
“Time to go have some fun!” Dawn garbs their wrists as she starts to drag them down the hall. The three ready for an adventure.

cassius ripping keefe’s art that he worked really hard on to shreds because he didn’t study for an agriculture test (even though he did)?
nonono, we don’t do that here.
we do:
-elwin hanging up almost - if not all - of the artwork/sketches keefe leaves out across splendor plains. hand poses etched into a napkin taped onto the wall, etc.
-we do keefe getting embarrassed because “elwin, those are just bad doodles, don’t hang them up for everyone to see!” and elwin cheerfully going “they’re certainly better than my attempts at drawing stinky the stegosaurus! of course they deserve to be hung up!”
-we do keefe spending a whole day holed up in his room painting some incredibly elaborate piece and wrapping it up in dinosaur paper as a gift for elwin
-we do elwin’s brain basically breaking at the quality and the gravity of the gesture and crying a lot of happy tears and lots and lots of hugs
-we do elwin still hanging up keefe’s “bad” doodles, but framing the paintings keefe gives him and putting them in spots where he sees them All The Time
basically: we do dadwin. dadwin for the win.

i just love the idea of keefe being both touch starved (bc of his parents) and extremely sensitive to touch (bc he’s a strong empath), but then ALSO proving with sophie that his love language is touch and— djsjsjakksks …anyway keefe and touch thoughts?
oh my dearest anon
oh my sweet beloved anon
prepare to suffer
Keefe Sencen doesn't know that he's touched starved, for the longest time. Sure, he's cold. Sure, he's lonely. Sure, the water is always at a boiling temperature when he takes his long showers. Sure, the blankets need to be as heavy as they can. Sure, he's clinging to Mrs. Stinkbottom like there's nothing else he can hold onto. Sure, he's running from everyone and everything. Sure, he's cold and lonely and stuck and upset about everything. That can't be due to any major underlying cause. No way.
He associates touch with bad things. Not because his parents outright hurt him... they just... Aren't touchy people. They're really not touchy at all. They just... don't. Or, if they do, it's usually not friendly.
Cassius is prone to yanking Keefe around, maneuvering him like he's some doll to shove. He's also prone to pushing his kid, a bit, not a lot, but enough to throw Keefe off balance sometimes. Also, he tends to kind of, like, put a lot of weight on Keefe, with the intent of it hurting, just a little. Keefe usually cringes away from that. When he's angry, too, Cassius's arms get big, and he'll move in dangerous ways. He tends to lash out in big ways that would make anyone flinch. It's violent, and startling, and even though Keefe doesn't get hurt by it, it's enough to make him flinch away from Cassius's movements.
His mom just runs really cold. She's an ice cube, basically. Her hands feel like snow, her skin like ice. It's not comfortable. Poor circulation. And she barely touches him anyway. He thinks he disgusts her. People don't touch disgusting things.
Overall, their idea of a hug is, like, maybe a brief shoulder touch. Maybe, maybe, if he's really lucky, his dad will set his heavy hand on his shoulder and not try to make it painful.
But even if the touch is more gentle than usual. This kid can feel things. And there's nothing like disgust, disappointment, and overwhelming hatred aimed at him to make him not want to touch anyone ever. Those feelings burn. They sting. They ache. Is it any wonder he doesn't like the touches his parents give him? Is it surprising that he shuns everyone else, too?
He avoids touching his friends, too, in the beginning. And even after the beginning. He doesn't want to know what they feel like. It's like his mind takes in an entirely different sense, but only when he touches someone. It's like he can see right into their hearts, and know everything about them right then in a way that makes people uncomfortable. It's always made people uncomfortable. "How did you know that?" Someone asked, when he was a kid. They'd told him never to do that again without permission. "It's rude, and you should never do that again."
He doesn't mind that. It's a lot. Either it's warm or disgusting, feels like a blanket or like a death sentence. It's all loud, bright, colorful, and bad, all at once. It's too much to handle, and besides. They know what he's doing. He just wants information. That's the only reason he'd touch them, isn't it? He's just looking for an excuse to read their emotions.
He doesn't tell anyone that he hasn't been fully and truly hugged in what feels like forever.
And then Sophie changes all of that. She doesn't shove him away. He can't escape her feelings. She is warmth and vibracy. She is hope and determination and she is warm. He swears, if she ever hugs him again, he'll probably have an emotional breakdown in her arms. Let's hope she doesn't, he decides. She doesn't have to hug him. She doesn't have to touch him.
Honestly, she shouldn't want to, anyways.
He doesn't want her to. He's sure of it.
They're dating, then, and he's clinging to the hope that she won't put her warm self so close to him, hug him like she wants to hold the broken pieces together, kiss him like the world is ending, cuddle him like they're falling apart. He doesn't want that, he tells himself. Who would want that? Nobody wants that. Especially not with him.
So, she picks up on his subtle signals, for a while, and doesn't hug him all that much. PDA? Never heard of that.
And they're doing fine, she guesses. But there's something off about her boyfriend.
He makes a point of sitting a distance away from her, keeping his hands to himself. She doesn't mind it, but it's a little odd. Usually people want hugs, once they're in a relationship.
She doesn't talk to him about it, that's just weird, especially because they're in a relationship, but instead, decides, in a flurry of stupidity, she'll just try to make it not so bad.
So when he sits down, that evening, a ways away from her, like always, to watch the movie with her, she gets up to go get popcorn, and sits back down right next to him.
He tenses up. She doesn't move, wondering if he'll push her away, say something, tell her to move over. He doesn't say anything, doesn't do anything, barely breathes. She waits.
And then, as if someone had cut the strings to a marionette doll, he relaxed, slumping, just a little. And she took it as an answer. She pressed play on the movie.
She was only just leaning against him, subtly, that's all she was doing, and inside Keefe's head, he was screaming. It was an overload of feelings, all of them gooey, warm, safe, happy, loving, caring, inescapable, kind, tinged just the slightest bit of apprehension and nerves, and he wondered if she knew he could feel everything she did. She hummed, a little, and the vibration of her chest made his heart beat louder.
He stared at her. She was going to disappear, going to vanish, going to leave. Nothing gold can stay, he thought, almost mechanically. Everything good has to leave. Everything perfect will vanish. This is a one time thing.
You don't even want this.
That was the biggest lie he'd told himself in actual years.
He didn't want this to end, he didn't want her to move, he didn't want to have to live in a world where he didn't feel warm and safe and okay and he wished he could just stay here and that the world would stop being warm, for once. He was used to a cold world, he could take a cold world. It was the warmth that was impossible to deal with.
Sophie was just... So. So. So. So warm. So. So. So. So. So safe. So loving. So caring. So gentle. So wonderful. She was as happy to be near him as he was panicking about being so near her. He didn't know what to think. He didn't know what to say. He didn't know what to do.
And he was crying. Not a lot, just a little.
And just like that, Sophie paused the movie and was pulling away from him.
Crap, crap, he thought, angrily, I knew it was too good to be true. I knew it was an accident. She would never touch me.
"Keefe?" Sophie asked, softly. "What's wrong?"
He couldn't make the words come out right, and instead more tears were steadily crawling down his face.
"Sweetheart," she asked, again, ever more gently, and how could he take her seriously when she wasn't close to him, anymore? How could he believe anything she said when the distance between them was so far and yet so little and she wouldn't even cross it? "What's going on in your head?"
Keefe pushed his face into his hands, his body refusing to stop crying.
"You're worrying me," she said, softly, moving to be in front of him. "I'm sorry if I did something. Do you want me to leave? I can give you some space--"
"No!" Gasped Keefe, desperation finally winning. "Please," he begged, almost sobbing, "Please, don't leave."
Confusion filled Sophie's face like sand filling up an hour glass. "Darling," she said, gently. "What's happening?"
He couldn't make his mouth work. The only thing that would work were his arms. For some reason, he had function there that he couldn't pull off with his tongue. He opened his arms wide, in a way he'd always seen people ask for hugs.
She didn't move, for a moment. She wasn't going to do it. He knew it. She thought he just wanted to know how she was feeling. She thought he wasn't serious. She didn't know why anyone would want to touch him--
Her arms wrapped around him, and he caved inwards like he was trying to hold the sun in his lap. Her arms were warm, and soft, and tight around him and he couldn't think beyond the feeling of her emotions because it was gentle worry, soft love, soft kindness, respect, and how are you supposed to deal with that? How was he supposed to feel emotions if emotions felt like this, if he felt so perfect right now, so full and complete and seen, and known, and loved, like he'd never been so whole and complete before, why had he never felt this way?
Why was he crying for the feeling of being whole? His shoulders shook, but Sophie didn't leave.
Instead, she simply held him tighter. "I'm not going anywhere," she whispered, and his entire soul was falling to pieces inside of him, and she was helping him tape himself back together. "I will love you as long as you need."
He wasn't sure how he was ever going to let go.

The Twin Sister (Part 4)
Summary : (Y/N) Foster is the twin sister of Sophie foster. She's known as a crack head 'female Keefe Sencen' but what happens when Forkle could only carry two people at a time when the neverseen kidnapped her Sophie and Dex and had to leave her behind? What happens when he went back for her and it was too late? What happens when they raided a neverseen base only to find her bloodied and tortured? What happens when they find out she isn't the (Y/N) they all know and love anymore?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?!? DO YOU KNOW HOW WORRIED I WAS, YOU COULD'VE BEEN DEAD FOR ALL WE KNOW!!" And as soon as Fitz had opened the door Sophie attacked me in a hug and started her rant and worry self while Alden and a lady with brown hair and cobalt blue eyes appeared. I KNEW IT!! HE DOES HAVE A WIFE!! I swear if he actually does cheat on her I'm going to actually punch him, and where I know it will hurt. Sophie, Fitz, and his mom rushed me inside as Alden stayed behind to talk to Kesler and I saw Kesler suppressing his eye rolls and attitude from him.
"BYE KESLER!! IF YOU GET THE CHANCE ADOPT ME DO IT AND I'LL SEE YOU IN TWO DAYS!! BYE!!" He smiled widely and waved me goodbye as he turned finally letting himself do an eye-roll at Alden and leaving. We went inside and after all the fussing Sophie told me about her talk with Alden and that she decided to wipe our family's memories of us to spare them the heartbreak. I agreed with her on it but was a little hurt she decided something like that without me, but as I always do I brushed it off as her emotions on the topic. She said that we would get a chance to say goodbye to them before we were wiped from their minds, so I went upstairs to go change back into my old clothes when a teal-eyed mini Della, I learned Della was Fitz's mom's name, jumped on me.
It caused me to fall against the wall and she had her hands on my shoulders. She was about an inch taller than me and really pretty too, she had gorgeous long brown hair and sparkling teal eyes, somehow prettier than Fitz and Alden's. She had soft pink lips and was honestly a natural beauty, especially in the dress she wore. I blushed slightly and time seemed to slow as we stared into each other's eyes, I saw a blush cross her cheeks slightly too. Dude . . . I think I'm gay. I glanced away slightly only to see my sister have her 'ship' face on. I deadpanned and when I looked back at the girl she had an unhappy look on her face but covered it up as soon as she saw me looking back at her, I tilted my head slightly confused. (This started as a Tam x reader fic but then before I knew she was in a love war, it's only the first sparks but still! Tell me if you want this to be a love war or a Tam fic)
"What did you do to my dress?" She finally spoke and I remembered this wasn't my dress that I tampered with. I paled at that and started stuttering apologies and excuses but she stopped me. "No it's ok- I actually think it looks a lot better now, what did you do?" She asked with a smile and she finally released her grip and gave me a little space, because be honest she was pinning me against the wall and It. Was. Hot. If I find out she's confident, has a mean side, and can beat any guy at any time I'll make an exception in my only go for the bad boys or girls type.
"Well all I really did was add decorations and change the straps of the dress. Are sure it was ok to change the dress?" I asked, Alden and Fitz were surprised at how timid I was asking because of how I have been acting around them but Sophie only smiled wider with wide eyes, it was clear she was either chanting 'ship ship ship' in her head or trying to figure out a ship name.
"Yes! It looks really pretty, and you can keep it. You really rock it buuuut to make it look better we could give you some pink or white heels or sandals and loose or change the gloves." And with that, she grabbed my arm and started talking about makeover stuff. My eyes widened in horror and surprisingly Alden saved me from my doom.
"Actually Bianna we need her for something and then after she needs to get checked on by Elwin, so maybe later." He said and Bianna pouted but let go and I left back to the room I was in earlier to change. Hmm fine I'll knock him down a quarter of a peg on my hate chart but he still has plenty hundreds of pegs to go. I changed back into my human clothes and went back downstairs. When Bianna saw me her eyes sparkled.
"ohhh that's actually cute!! You have really good taste in clothes, (N/N)!!" She said and I blushed and looked away. Wait how did she know my name? Whatever. What dampened my mood though was the memory of Fitz asking what LGBTQ was meaning they don't have that stuff here. I sighed, I guess I'll have settled myself with boys, boo. I mean I'm into both, I'm abro, but girls are hot too and it's upsetting having to limit myself to boys. I'm all for being with who you love but I'm not really the leader type, I wouldn't really be the one to start it here in the lost cities, just hope someone else will I guess.
Before me and Sophie leaped Della clamped a weird-looking bracelet on my wrist and said it was a nexus, to prevent me from fading during a leap. I studied it when a saw the bar at the bottom start to fill halfway with a purple color. I showed Della and she told Alden. Why not just tell Alden myself you ask? Well, I don't like him and would not voluntarily talk to him unless it was to roast or annoy him. He looked surprised but told me 'no need to worry' and 'very talented individual' I mean bitch did it look like I care? No, so fuck off.
Me and Sophie left and walked to the front door slowly only for it to swing open and be met with an angry worried mother hen and father. I ignored them and just went over to give my mom a hug. She looked surprised but hugged back, and soon Sophie joined the hug. "I love you mom," I said feeling tears fill my eyes but forced them down.
"Wha- I love you too, sweetheart but what's wrong?" She asked. I just pulled back with a bright closed-eyed smile on my face.
"Nothing mom!" I proceeded to go over and hug our dad repeating the same exchange I had with our mom. I then went over to Amy and raised my fist, she did the same although confused and we fist bumped but suddenly on impulse, I grabbed her wrist and pulled her into a hug which she gave back and I whispered in her ear. "Stay cool, sis." With that, I started walking upstairs and grabbed my big blue bag. I threw all of my cute clothes in it with a pair of sneakers. I grabbed a photo of our family as Sophie came in and also started packing. I grabbed Kira and put her in my bag and put Ella in Sophie's when I saw her forgetting her.
I was about to zip up the bag when I saw Marty standing in the middle of our bed yowling in distress, probably not wanting us to leave, with panicked eyes and doing little circles.
I smiled sadly and picked him up giving him a little kiss on the head and holding him gently in my arms. I lifted him up to my face and we stared into each other's eyes, he opened his mouth and yowled again in my face, ah little Marty always somehow knew what we were doing. The little guy didn't want us to go. When I looked at him I saw little tears and I gave in not being able to resist, I shoved some of my clothes into Sophie's bag - que her giving me a confused look - to free up space and put Marty into the bag. I carefully zipped the bag to hide him and made sure there was a decent-sized gap for him.
Me and Sophie carefully tiptoed downstairs and were about to walk toward the door when the light flashed on and we saw our family standing there. "Where do you girls think you're going?" Our dad asked glaring at our bags.
"Aren't you guys in enough trouble already?" Amy asked with a giggle, I glared, traitor.
"Sophie Elizabeth Foster and (Y/N) (M/N) Foster you will tell us what is going on right now!" our mom yelled and I flinched slightly. I cast my eyes down too afraid and frozen to speak. Sophie clutched the sleeping gas thingamabob as she took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry, but we have to leave," she said softly.
"You're not going anywhere." Our dad said I lifted my gaze to look at them, and I felt their emotions falter slightly but become stern again. I was confused and touched my face to find it wet with tears, so that's why I never cry in front of them. Sophie saw this and took my hand in hers squeezing tightly.
"It's not up to us dad."
"Sit down." And with that, they all sat down expecting us to follow but instead Sophie opened the sleeping gas and covered her mouth and nose. I just put on my gas mask, ehh don't ask. It was black with purple designs on it, it had goggles to go with it but those were in my bag. I only used them when it was colored gas so that they don't get ruined. Our aunt who had encouraged my prankster side had given it to me, against our parents' wishes obviously.  (Pretend the designs are purple)
Tumblr media
They started to freak out when they saw it, it only came out when I released stink or gas into a room for a prank. They were knocked out before they could cover their mouths and noses and as soon as they fell back Sophie pulled me into a hug and cried. She pulled us down to the ground and cried, I heard Marty yowling again at her cries and moved slightly. I shrugged off the bag and unzipped it letting Marty into our hug while still holding Sophie. I myself felt tears in my eyes but refused to let them fall. I had a pretty good feeling, and let's just say my feelings are spot on, that we were about to go through a lot of tough shit and I want to be the tough one for once. I was always the sensitive one and it's about time I suck it up and be the tough one, as Sophie needs me to be. This is a Fresh start and I want to be the tough one, for her sake. (Haha funny thing I'm listening to 'princess don't cry' while writing this, good song I recommend it -anyway, this got too sappy SUBJECT CHANGE!)
The door burst open and I looked to see Fitz running over to us, he slowed and knelt down to rub Sophie's back he then looked at me expecting me to also be in tears but he frowned with sadness in his eyes. He clearly knows what I'm trying to do. 'It's ok to be sad, (Y/N)" he said but I ignored him and put Marty back into my bag and shoved it in his hands along with Sophie's bag while lifting Sophie up onto my back.
"We have to go right?" I said emotionlessly causing him to flinch slightly.
" . . . . . yeah"
He then glanced at our bags and frowned. "That's all your taking?" He asked and as I nodded Sophie lifted her head. She opened her mouth but before she could speak I cut her off.
"I put Ella in your bag before we came down, idiot." She smiled at my small nickname for her and relaxed. With that being said we leaped away. When we got there asswhole and beautiful woman - cough* I mean Alden and Della were waiting for us. As Sophie slid down my back and stood up Della pulled us into a bone-crushing hug. I quite literally Could. Not. Breath. She started whispering to us and a single tear forced itself out but I wiped it away quickly before anyone saw.
"No one saw us." I heard Fitz tell Alden.
"Thank you, Fitz. My dear you might want to let the girls breathe." He said and Della let go bringing that motherly warmth away with her. They all started to speak but I tuned everything out. I grabbed my bag from Fitz who had forgotten he was holding them at that point and handed Sophie's back to her. I pulled Marty out and put my bag on my back. I held Marty softly and absently at the back of my mind registering Della gushing over him.
They soon left and Fitz led us to a room, something about a doctor. I was too tired from the day to struggle. We went in and we saw a man with brown hair and goggles. I just ignored everything and went to the cot. My last brain cell had evaporated about an hour ago, I just wanted to sleep, and if not just lay there in a soft bed. He did some tricks with lights and cracked a few jokes. 'hmm . . . . fun gay uncle?'
"Are you gay?" I asked recovering half a brain cell just enough to talk to people slightly. Sophie gasped and punched me lightly in the arm while Elwin - he had called himself- looked confused.
"What's gay?" He asked and before Sophie could answer I did, although sluggishly.
"It's when a man is attracted to another man in a romantic way, and when a girl is attracted to another girl romantically is called lesbian. There are others too, I'm pansexual meaning I'm attracted to every gender. But if we are being honest I favor women right now, ahh women are hot." I said while turning on the cot curling my legs and using my arms as a pillow. Yes, I'm falling asleep, it's been a long day don't judge me.
Elwin paid attention to this info pointedly with understanding, he smiled softly at the end patting my head lightly. "Ok thanks for the info, I guess then I . . . am gay." He said hesitantly as if he was afraid to admit it aloud. (Do not object, he is and always will be the fun gay uncle it is a crime that it is not cannon) "Why?" He asked.
"You seem like a fun gay uncle. I wouldn't mind you adopting us if you were to." He laughed softly.
"Alright, kiddo-" His sentence was cut off by me falling asleep so I didn't catch what he said.
For some reason that night I dreamt about all the encounters with new people I had today. The jogger, definitely a suspicious kidnapper pedo, Alden, yup an asswhole for sure, Bronte, ha I'll make sure to annoy him and/or make him laugh, depends on my mood. Kenric, seems like a fun guy, favorite councilor hands down, Oralie, ehh she's nice but gives me the creeps, Quinlin, definitely fucking with Alden. Dex, haha best friend already enough said, Kesler and Juline, lovely people, going for love and hating on the nobles, gotta love them. The triplites, adorable little devils, hehehe I shall teach them the way of the prankster, after all, they are just beginners. Seriously look at them with a good teacher they will do ✨wonders✨. Then that leads us to Della, such a sweet woman and beautiful, Bianna, . . . . . mommy?- I mean beautiful girl, will definitely make friends with her— or more. Keefe, ahh yes pranking partner, definitely a fun guy. Hmm, I should look for him when we start foxfire. (Just now realized I introduced her to all her friends-cept for Tam and Linh obviously) Then my mind drifted to that last person. Jackson. I just now realized that something was . . . . .  off about him. I couldn't tell what tho, he was just off and not in the good way. Well there is no good way of being off but still. Oh well, I should stop using my brain while sleeping, it never ends well.
~Time Skip~
I woke up again and I was in a huge bed with Marty curled next to me and Sophie nowhere in sight. Ahh, they probably moved me here - make me wonder who moved me, actually no I don't want to know. Anyway, they probably also made Sophie sleep in another room, ugh. I got up and realized it was like 3 am, I saw my bag in the corner and changed into some gray sleeping shorts and an oversized black T-shirt that went a few inches below my mid-thigh, so yeah it looked like I wasn't wearing pants. Ah, curse my height. I picked up Marty holding him softly in my crossed arms, he merely looked around then meowed and went back to sleep. I translated it to ' fine but don't move too fast or wake me up'.
I walked around softly opening doors and exploring the place. I walked into what looked like a teenage boy's room and assumed it was Fitz but when I saw the bed empty I realized it wasn't, hmm does he have a brother? Oh well. I went to the closet and found a box full of human clothes, COOL!! I sneakily stole some cool jackets and shirts, not like he'll notice he clearly doesn't live here anymore. After hiding them in my bag -which caused the long trip back and forth - I went back to his room with Marty again at hand and looked around out of boredom. I was going through his desk and hit my hand against the edge causing me to squeak in pain. Suddenly a third handle appeared at the side of the desk and I giddily opened it.
I found a bunch of scrolls and crystals, there was a pretty purple one that blended well with blue and shined brightly. It was attached to a chain and I put it on around my neck, it was really pretty. He wouldn't mind, would he? It looked deserted anyway.
Tumblr media
I also found this cloth with a white eye on it, it was really cool. I traced the rune at the bottom and whispered "neverseen?" I just hummed and stuffed it into my pocket and the crystal under my shirt.
I then left Alvars room, I learned his name by reading the name at the top of his notes. I kept walking through the halls and softly opened another door, I looked inside and saw Fitz sleeping. Hmmm hehehe I got an idea. I closed the door quietly making sure to not wake him. I readjusted Marty in my arms and lifted my leg up. I kicked his door open harshly it hitting the wall with a big BAM!! Fitz shot up in bed with a short girly screaming, looking everywhere. He then saw me and groaned quietly. I stepped in proudly and opened my mouth. Fitz scrunched up his face waiting for me to scream and I saw Bianna and Sophie walk in, ahh must have woken them up. I pointedly noticed Alden and Della didn't, must live on the other side of the house.
"Do you" I started with a loud proud voice and a cocky grin on my face. "Know the muffin man?"
"The muffin man?" Fitz and Bianna asked confused and Sophie did a very slow facepalm. Fitz got out of bed and walked to the foot of the bed where we all were.
"THE MUFFIN MAN!!!!" I streaked in a loud exaggeratedly funny voice. Sophie just gave me the 'seriously' look as Fitz just looked annoyed, but when I looked at Bianna she was giggling quietly and my face turned red but I smiled widely.
Two hours later I had been cracking jokes and chatting with Bianna who kept laughing and smiling. Fitz after an hour realized we weren't going to leave took his pillow and said he was going to sleep somewhere else. We just settled on the soft floor, did I mention even the floors were extremely soft? Sophie had fallen asleep in my lap with Marty curled into her side. Me and Bianna kept giggling and talking. She went around to braid my hair and we went into a peaceful silence.
"You have really soft hair." She complimented and I turned red.
"Oh-uh-yeah-t-thanks." I stuttered, damn why is she so hot, not only that it's her personality too. UGH!! She then went on a rant about how I would look in dresses and other stuff, she mindlessly kept throwing compliments and I kept getting red and calming down only to turn red again later but harder. Soon we started to talk about random stuff and she did random hairdos on me only to take a picture and undo it to do another. Before we knew it Della had walked in. She looked surprised that we were up.
"Oh Fitz told me you too had come in last night at 3am and woke him up, but I assumed you two went to bed at some point. Oh well, breakfast is ready. Get dressed and come down. " After she left we woke up Sophie and she grabbed Marty and left us. I walked back to my room and for some reason, Bianna followed, by the look on her face and her emotions I knew she was planning something. When we got to my room she smirked rushed in grabbed my bag grabbed me then rushed down the hall.
"W-where are we going?" I asked
"My room silly! You owe me a makeover!!" And with that, she pulled me into her room and began the torture.
She dumped my bag and went through the clothes as I sat on her desk chair looking at stuff. When I looked back she shoved clothes into my hands and told me to change in her bathroom. I did, what she gave me was a gray plaid skirt with black thigh-high socks and black high tops. I paused at the shirt though. "Uh, Bianna this isn't my shirt." I said.
"I know! It's mine just wear it!" And with that, I shrugged and put on the deep red long-sleeve tunic. It was gray trimming and gray buttons, and my gloves also matched the outfit perfectly. I walked out and Bianna cheered and rushed me to the chair. Bianna played with my hair a bit and I relaxed into the touch. Before I knew it Bianna was done with the hair and I snook a peak at the mirror and gasped it, it was beautiful.
Tumblr media
(the left one)
"You like it, (N/N)?"
"It's beautiful," I said breathlessly. Bianna smiled and pulled me to start makeup which I objected against but one puppy eye and pout got me to give up. When she was done and I saw I was surprised. All she did was a light pink lip gloss and mascara with eyeliner. My brown eye had golden eyeliner bringing out the golden flecks in them and my grayish blue one had a grayish white bringing out the blue in my eye. Surprisingly the two different eyeliners went well together. We proceeded to admire my makeover and I helped Bianna with hers, I offered my clothes and she hesitantly accepted. She actually liked it, she wore a blue tunic and one of my plain black skirts with some flats and did simple curls in her hair with light natural makeup. We then admired her looks and went downstairs.
We walked in and Fitz looked annoyed. "About time-" He cut himself off when he saw us but his eyes were pointed at me, his eyes widened and he blushed slightly, I tilted my head in confusion which didn't help his blush. Bianna giggled and pulled me to sit with her at the table.
Della gave me some vials to drink saying something about falling asleep before taking them yesterday and not wanting to wake me. I drank them and we had a good breakfast with me hissing at Alden every so often and him giving confused looks as everyone sweat dropped. My hatred for him was very clear and Fitz did not care, Della wished I wouldn't but stopped trying to get me to like him after I literally dumped a plate of food on him, Sophie just shrugged already use to me hating almost everyone, Bianna just smiled every time and called it 'cute', causing me to blush lightly. (wait one goddamn second do I simp for her?) Ugh, I need to stop blushing, I might turn into Sophie.
After breakfast Della brought us to the living room and told us she went shopping for us. My eyes widened and I tried to sneak my way out but for the first time in years I was caught and brought back in. She said something about Sophie wearing Fitz's old one and I could tell she was simping, actually I'm pretty sure everyone could by the look on her face. I turned around and stuck my tongue out and gagged and when I stopped I saw Bianna laughing and she mouthed 'I know right, gross' to me when we locked eyes.
"I should be done packing all this in a few minutes." Della said.
"You kicking us out." I said with a grin and a wink, clearly joking but she rushed to us and took our hands and said it wasn't like that. Wow lady. learn to take a joke. She proceeded to give us these choker things but I took the crystal off  mine, it was the crystal that mattered anyway right? I attached it to my own stylish black cloth choker.  The one they gave me was just wires, that's just damn uncomfortable. Sophie kept hers and Della gave me something called an imparter and birth fund, saying Sophie already got hers yesterday. Apparently now I'm rich, hell yeah bitch.
Alden told us about our new guardians apparently they own a animal reserve, awesome! Oh yeah and they have a dead daughter, note to self NEVER bring it up. Ehh not like I will anyway, but can't speak for Sophie though.
Later on, after we said goodbye to Fitz, Della and Bianna we leaped to our new home, but before we left I gave Bianna a hug. "See you at foxfire when we start school, Bi!" I said with the nickname I gave her.
and as we leaped I could have sworn her cheeks turned pink.
CHAPTER ONE: Red, like the walls of your not-so-perfect home.
A cold hand clapped down on Keefe’s shoulder. He shivered slightly. Keefe tilted his head upward, his golden locks following in a delay. Lo and behold, Keefe was met with the most beautiful boy he had ever seen. Swarthy, sonorous skin that seemed to glow, and silver-blue eyes, like a river when Apollo’s rays hit it exactly right. They didn’t know each other, but Keefe’s traitorous heart skipped three beats.
“What are you doing here?” The boy asked. He had a deep, rich voice. It was whole, in a way. Full.
“I thought this house was abandoned, so I came to play.” Keefe saw a flicker of happiness in his eyes.
“Well, it’s going to rain, and I don’t want you completely soaked, so come inside.” Keefe gratefully walked into the boy’s house. The house was beautiful. Cerise walls and tapestries of all colours and shades, and a picture above the grand piano of what seemed to be his family. A man, eyebrows in a permanent arch, who looked much like the boy, and a woman, beautiful, long silky hair and glittering eyes. And a girl, about the age of the boy, same hair as her mother, but a playful gleam in her reflective eyes.
The boy saw Keefe looking at the picture and turned away, pulling him into another room. This one had black walls, and two beds in it. He sat on the bed nearest to the door and gestured Keefe to join him.
“Tam. Tam Song.” He mumbled. Young Keefe didn’t know why, but he knew that he would know and cherish that name forever. Keefe’s lips turned up in a smile.
“My name is Keefe Sencen.” He spoke. Tam nodded and pulled a colourful box from a cabinet. Words and images cluttered it.
“Wanna play snakes and ladders?” He spoke. Keefe nodded eagerly.
Keefe and Tam played together, as you would expect five-years olds to. Tam didn’t laugh a lot, Keefe learnt and spent the time smiling or in solitude.
“Tam Song? Who are you with?” A deep voice asked from the corridor. Keefe was a little scared himself and turned over to Tam, who was as pale as a ghost. The figure walked into Tam’s room and let his eyes sweep across it. “And who are you?”
Keefe was getting a little tired of introductions. “I’m Keefe Sencen, from next door,” Keefe said innocently, pointing to a house out the window. The man did his signature eyebrow arch and spoke.
“I am Quan Song, and this is my son. Carry on, and I will talk to your parents. What was the address again?”
Keefe babbled the address his parents made him memorise, and as soon as Quan left, let out a sigh of relief.
“Is that your dad?” Keefe asked, pointing at the door.
“Yes, and he’s really strict but don’t tell him I said that.” ***
“Keefe, darling, you seem to be getting quite a bit, eh, cuddly with this Tam.” Keefe’s mother questioned, looking at him for an explanation.
“He’s my friend, and I love him. Why can’t I hug him?” Keefe asked innocence in his eyes. Gisella opened her mouth but closed it.
“Nothing, but don’t let it go too far, Keefe.”
Keefe was well aware of how strict Tam’s parents were. Too strict. He watched Tam cower whenever Quan said something, and Mai nod her head along. And it wasn’t just the lectures for things that were stupid.
It was the callous remarks, and the disapproving stares to shut Tam up.
Too bad Keefe was too young and clueless to do anything about it.
Kam because I absolutely want to hear you scream about it
hiiii so actually i did in fact scream about their love languages here so instead if you don’t mind… i will take the opportunity to scream about them getting together. yeah
okay i’m going to preface this by saying tam fell first and keefe fell harder
like tam kinda went “oh there’s a cute guy and he kinda sucks and he hates me but also i don’t think i hate him that much fuck”
so he was fully convinced that keefe would never like him back
he’d kinda distance himself from keefe too?? like especially after keefe came back from the forbidden cities
tam didn’t really want anybody knowing so he buried deep down with all his other emotions
it was kinda a lowkey crush still. smth he probably could have gotten over with
BUT! eventually it kinda started growing into a bigger crush
howeverrr keefe’s was bigger (not that tam knew it yet)
like it wasn’t until after he was back from the forbidden cities that he started having feelings for tam
and this is keefe sencen! when he feels he feels
but keefe is just as bad as tam with emotions! (ironic cause he’s an empath lmao 🙄)
and like. even though tam was putting distance between the two of them his feelings still grew
cause gay panic and also he misses this idiot with dumb hair
and he’s wishing that this idiot is his idiot
it’s an insane amount of pining istg
anyway. fast forward a couple years
by this time the pining has grown exponentially and everyone except these two morons have realized that they like each other
cue shenanigans from the swan squad trying to get them together
locking them in a room, dropping not-so-subtle hints, planning an outing and then nobody showing up so the two of them are alone, etc. you know, the usual.
but! these mfs are dense as hell so it still takes some time for them to realize
eventually they do realize. keefe is the first to confess
he’s scared and shaking because for all his grandiosity he’s never done anything like this before
imagine his shock when it works out for him
there’s a lot of crying that night
hugs too
they’re a mess
that’s how they always are, actually
messy, passionate, blazing like a fire
their relationship is all over the place, but. it’s theirs
hi this got long i’m so sorry
How You Get the Girl
A/N: Soooo I haven’t written anything in forever cause I’ve been really burnt out, but then an anon on @theunmappedstar pointed out that I wish you would by taylor swift is like Sophie to Keefe after unlocked, which I wholeheartedly agree with, and it also made me realize that how you get the girl would fit perfectly as a reunion between them, and was thrown into writing this. It’s super short, but it gave me an excuse to listen to taylor swift on repeat, so definitely worth my time.
Pairing: sokeefe
Warnings: slight angst, but not much, major unlocked spoilers
About: basically, after keefe has been gone for six months in the forbidden cities, he comes back and the events from the song how you get the girl play out
Other: here’s the link to the song so you can listen while you read! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjwTwvtwFlE
Send me an ask if you want to be added to my writing taglist!!!
Just when Sophie had completely given up on Keefe coming back, just when she’d stopped looking for him in every crowd, stopped using her spyball every chance she got, and stopped reassuring the others that he hadn’t really abandoned them, the doorbell rang.
And, in the way things always seem to work out, there stood Keefe Sencen, so pale he looked like a ghost, shaking in the rain. His normally perfectly mussed hair was plastered to his face with water, and his clothes were soaking wet.
“Are you insane?!” was the only thing that was able to come out of her mouth. After an eternity of crying and wondering and having to fight all of this alone, he had the nerve to show up at her door. And at the same time, she was so, so glad to see him there.
“It’s been a long six months, huh Foster?” Part of her wanted to tackle him into a hug right then and there, but the other part, the angry, hurt, broken part, held her back. He winced a little at her face, but took a step towards her. “I know I was wrong. I know I hurt you. But please hear me out here, because I’m finally not afraid to tell you what I want.”
She nodded, just the tiniest bit. He took that as his cue.
“Sophie, I,” He took a breath. “I want you, for worse or for better. I’d wait forever and ever if you asked me to. I know I broke your heart, but I’ll put it back together. I swear, I’d wait for you forever.”
“What?” She remembered the way it used to be. Before he left her and the world fell apart. The pictures he’d painstakingly drawn her, still in their frames in her room. The way he’d slung his arm across her shoulder, and how it was one of the only places she felt safe. The joking way he’d flirted with her, making her cheeks light up, that had maybe been more serious than she’d thought. All of the tiny gestures that he tried to use to tell her he loved her.
But did she love him too?
The answer came rushing to the front of her mind, as if it had been there, waiting, the whole time. Of course. Of course she loved this broken, beautiful boy.
“Keefe?”
He lifted his still perfectly ice blue eyes from the ground, staring right at her.
“I guess that’s how you get the girl.”
As she leaned in, the world melted away. I was him and her, her lips against his, and his warmth flooding into her. All either of them had ever wanted.
“Wait, don’t pull away… Not yet.”
Sokeefe
Sophie had to be prepared for a lot of things when it came to Keefe Sencen. Things like Keefe coming up to her at her locker after school and spinning her around, wrapping her in a hug under her cape.
Sophie gasped and tried to wriggle away. “Keefe, you’re freezing.”
“Warm warm warm warm so warm,” Keefe sighed, face buried against her shoulder. He only tightened his hold on her the more she squirmed, and Sophie eventually gave up, shivering.
“What happened? How are you so cold?”
“Detention,” Keefe mumbled into her tunic. “Froster mentor had us recording temperatures different stuff freezes at. Kept freezing the room. So cold.”
“Maybe you need to stop getting detentions,” Sophie suggested, to which Keefe only snorted and turned his face against her neck.
“Mmmm, you are so warm,” he sighed, and Sophie yelped at how cold the tip of his nose was against her neck.
“Keefe, you have to let go,” Sophie said, blushing as a couple of prodigies walked by, staring and giggling. “C’mon.”
Sophie attempted to push at Keefe’s shoulders, but he tightened his hold on her again and shook his head vigorously.
“No, no, wait...don’t pull away,” he whined, his hands rubbing calming circles at the small of her back. “Not yet. So warm.”
Sophie sighed, doing her best to ignore the continued stares that passing prodigies gave them, and decided it would end faster if she hugged him back. She draped her arms over his shoulders and patted his head the way one would a child’s, then rested her hand atop his head when she felt how chilly his hair was.
“People are staring,” Sophie whispered, feeling her skin flame at the different eyes she felt on her.
Keefe hummed. “Fine by me. You get warmer when you blush.”
He protested loudly when Sophie finally shoved him away at that.
“C’mon, Foster, it’s nothing to be embarrassed about,” Keefe insisted as Sophie gathered her things into her schoolbag and closed her locker.
She was almost thankful she was already blushing about the onlookers as he took her hand, lacing his cold fingers with hers.
“What’s a little sharing warmth between us, hm?”
Sophie glared at his smirk. “Don’t you have better things to do than annoy me?”
“Never,” Keefe said, winking and squeezing her hand. “Annoying you is the first thing on my to-do list at all times.”
“That much I can tell,” Sophie mumbled, but she squeezed his hand back when she thought he wouldn’t notice.
Except he did notice. And his grin only made her blush more.
“I can’t let go now, Foster. Not when you just got so much warmer.”
Sophie groaned. “You are the worst.”
