FO: Desert-Inspired K+C Tote
Hallo friends!
You may have noticed I stepped away for a bit on this blog. Last time I posted, it was a couple days before Mother's Day in the US, and I had just had to frog over 10 inches of scarf due to an error. Learn from me - count your stitches. I got too confident.
So I intentionally took a bit of a break, partly because I was about to go on a trip for vacation, and partly because I was on a milestone long-term vacation leave for four weeks and I was intentionally trying to make the time disconnected from work to decompress and relax. I tried not to put pressure on myself to post. But I did try to stay somewhat productive with my crafting. Frogging was an absolute bummer, so I managed ... eh, four rows on that thing.
I regrouped by starting some new WIPs, and one of them I actually finished.
I found myself at the local JOANN (craft store chain in the US) during my time off, and even though I just needed a size up in knitting needles, I had wanted to give their K+C brand cotton yarn a feel, a try if I liked it.
For a quick reference: K+C Cotton - Category 3, 100% cotton, 180 yards, 3.5 oz.
I really like enjoy their labelling, which includes a knit stockinette image of what the yarn will look like worked up. It's a very nice touch, as yarns can evolve in their aesthetic from skein or hank, cake or ball, and in the final presentation of your piece.
As I was there, I was inspired by the colors to prepare a desert themed tote. My vacation in a few days would be to travel to a part of the country I've never visited including the Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, and the deserts in Arizona and Nevada.
Since I am home now, here are a couple shots from my trip, and you can let me know how well I managed to match colors before ever seeing these places in person! (note, all pictures taken by me - Canon Rebel T8i)
My JOANN had a selection of the colors, and Zion was not among them. But not all was lost. Though some of the names of the yarns are direct hits to the above, I chose four colorways for my desert colors.
For places I was going to visit - Canyon, Red Rocks For complementary colors - Santa Fe, Golden Coast
We're going oranges, reds, yellows, a scattering of grey.
I used the recommended 3.75 mm crochet hook throughout.
I knew I wanted the Golden Coast yellow to be my border, so to start I just started cranking out granny squares. Canyon became the consistent color in each of the squares, and I used either Santa Fe or Red Rocks with the variegated stripes as the main color scheme.
The granny square itself is motif #113 in Beyond the Square: Crochet Motifs, by Edie Eckman, and I love it for that extra bit of variety and those beautiful circle centers that truly show off the variegated yarns.
The layout you see above is a common structure for creating a bag. There are a few different graphics you can use, and this is a 13-square version, and you'll find it in a number of patterns. There is one more Red Rocks square than the Santa Fe, and as you can see I did some rearranging throughout the layout before I decided on the final in the left hand picture. I did some winging it with connecting all the squares together, but I knew I wanted the yellow to pop. So I used a single crochet border to connect all the squares. Since it's the front of the squares, the actually granny sits a bit behind. Some good 3-D flair, in my opinion.
If you've made it this far, thank you so much! I know the exciting part is the final piece, so here ya go!
I know I should have gotten a photo of her out in the desert wilds, but I am afraid I used this bag to hold all of my crafting items throughout the trip, so she was less portable than my purse.
I loved working with this yarn - the variegation was a constant surprise, especially since I worked it up in crochet instead of knit, and the color options give you a lot to play with even with the solids. It was a soft cotton that felt good on my hands. The pattern worked up quickly, both in the granny construction and final assembly, but I did work on it exclusively and for a few days in a row.
Now I just need to choose where to go next, and whether to bring her along or start a new one!

Would also really appreciate donations if you want to help support me but can't buy something for whatever reason.
Check the original post to see what's been sold and what hasn't (I will cross out sold items). First come first serve.
https://ko-fi.com/kolyenka
Prepared Fiber--all of this is prepared by me :) the following 4 are cheaper as I can ship them in normal envelopes
A: 0.14 oz, combed top. Blend of bfl, tencel, tussah silk, corriedale, merino. Very soft and shiny. $8.
B: 0.11 oz, combed top. Blend of tussah silk (black) and mohair locks (green). $8
C: 0.22 oz, combed top. Same blend as A, just a lot more of it and in different combos. Distinct gradient from one end to the other. $10
D: 0.4 oz, rolag (made on blending board). Tussah silk, mohair, and bfl. Very squishy and fine. $13
E: 0.29 oz. Rolag, wool and cotton blend. Even more stripes of color under the surface. $13
F: 0.51 oz. Rolag, wool blend with some Angelina. Purple underneath. $15
G: 4.75 ounces. Rolags (many many rolags). Blend of various wools; some fibers are not quite next to skin soft, but overall it's a soft blend. Mix of red, orange, white, purple, and black. $45
H: 1 ounce. Washed longwool fleece (breed unknown). Dyed by myself with onion skin. $10
I: 1.2 ounces. Southdown flax blend, predrafted from rolags. Could potentially make up to 6 ounces total of this. $18
FLEECE
J: 6 ounces. Washed jacob lambsfleece. Very soft for a jacob, large bits of vm (was able to get it out with hand cards). $20
K: 5.5 ounces. Hampshire with 2+ years growth, washed fleece. Definitely an odd fleece, not like your usual down breed. Has vm; washed it multiple times but still looks gross--I've found its almost impossible to get totally clean before it's yarn. Recommend combing, spinning, then washing. Nice and soft. $25
L: 7.5 ounces BFL cross. Very soft and with good luster. Some vm, was able to remove with hand cards. $25
M: 4.75 oz. Jacob x Border Leicester. Good luster, warm brown tips. Nicely soft. $20
SPINDLES:
1: thin spindle (7 inches long). Good for cobweb weight but can achieve thinner and thicker. Birch wood with woodburning. $80
2: thick spindle (7 inches long). Good for laceweight but can achieve thinner and thicker. Wood type unknown (some sort of fruit tree iirc). No woodburning due to lots of wormholes and spalting which provide their own visual interest (they don't cause problems spinning don't worry). $60
3: thick spindle (6.5 in long). Good for laceweight, can spin thicker and thinner. No clue on wood type. Woodburned on most of the surface, the rest has wormholes again. $90
BAGS
4: handblended handspun handknit drawstring project bag, 20 inch circumference. Cord is handspun flax. It's folded in half in the bigger picture. $90
5: handblended handspun handknit pouch. Don't remember the circumference but you can compare to the other bag. Body is entirely southdown babydoll wool. Handle is handspun icord. $75
HANDSPUN YARN
6: 4 oz, 325 yards. Hand blended and handspun. Alpaca, wool, silk, silk noil, angelina. 2 ply fingering weight. Very textured. $65
7: 5.75 oz, 572 yds. Merino and silk blend, 2 ply, dk weight. Blended for a triangle shawl, stripes get longer as you go. Very soft, shines very beautiful in the light. $115
Please DM if you're interested--first come first serve. I take payment via ko-fi.

These are objectively really bad pics, but I can’t seem to take any that look nice ): So here’s the final shirt with that super weird construction method (which I talked about with diagrams! here). (previous post about it here). I think I messed up the underarm shape a bit, it looks wonky. I think the straight part should have been longer and the diagonal part shorter. The collar also looks odd on me. I'm worried I gained weight in between writing the pattern and finishing it. But omggg the fit at the shoulder is dreamy. I can't wait to make another sweater like this.
Pattern: something I whipped up inspired by some obscure russian pics I found on pinterest
Yarn: K+C Pearl, it’s a lyocell and viscose blend

Therianthropy Alphabet
credit to @local-xenogender-icon for the alphabet!
A - awakening
I always remember running around pretending to be a deer and always drawing/seeing myself as a deer. I used to push these away when I was older and never thought about it until I realized that therianthropy was a thing and I wasn’t the only one experiencing it. After that I narrowed my theriotype down to a caribou (yes, I know there are subspecies but they’re all very similar so I just say caribou).
B - balance
My therianthropy affects the way I communicate with other people, and my hobbies. It doesn’t affect my work/school/life balance as much, aside from little “quirks” like being afraid of loud noises, being very attached to people, etc
C - city
I don’t live in a city, I live in a rural area, which I’m very grateful for.
D - diary
I do have an alter human diary! It’s mostly just documenting shifts or drawing, and also functions as a regular journal.
E - experience in the community
I’ve had an extremely positive experience in the alterhuman community on Tumblr, and I’m eternally grateful for this because it helped me untangle my therianthropy identity and figure out who I am. Other social media platforms, not so much.
F - friends
None of my friends know I’m a therian, but I have a friend who is a furry who I think suspects.
G - gear
I don’t really feel the need for gear, but I get why people like it. If I had enough money, I might look into buying something, but mostly gear is centered around foxes/wolves/cats, and it would be hard to find caribou gear. I would have to buy a commission which is very expensive.
I - identity
I only have one theriotype, which is a caribou. I’ve yet to meet another caribou, but I have met so many other deer, who have all been super cool!
J - jokes
I love making little jokes about my identity, because it is very silly if you think about it.
K - knowldege
On a scale of 1-10, I would say my knowledge of alterhumanity is a 7 or 8. I still have a lot to learn.
L - liking, loving
I don’t think I could’ve had a “better” theriotype, a caribou is a lovely animal that I am grateful to be.
N - nature
My theriotype lives in northern parts of North America, and in Europe. They are migratory, so they don’t have one specific territory or anything.
O - otherhearted
Tbh I don’t really know the difference between otherhearted and therianthropy but I don’t think I’m otherhearted.
P - popularity
My theriotype isn’t very popular (unless it’s Christmas). Fun fact: in North America, caribou are called reindeer when they’re domesticated, but in Europe, they’re always called reindeer.
R - real body
I get species dysphoria from time to time.
S - sex
I never really thought about the sex of my theriotype? It’s kind of hard to tell really.
T - traits
-fear of loud noises/sudden noise
-foraging for food (gardening mostly)
-head butting things
-communicating with grunts, moving my head, pointing with my feet, or flicking my “ears” (that don’t exist bc phantom shift)
-running/hiking in the woods and swimming
-flight instinct
Urges
I think this question was centered more towards therians with prey drive instincts, because my urges are mostly just to run away, swim in random bodies of water, eat the grass, and restlessness.
W - wondering
Leaving the question here for context: “How do you think you would look like, if you could psychically shapeshift into your therio/kintype? (Describe or put an image here!)”
Y - yarn
Leaving this question for context too: “If you wanted to buy/make a tail, would it be real fur or fake/yarn fur?”
Caribou don’t have tails…
Z - zoo (as in the place)
I like zoos that are there for protection of a species or rehabilitation. I think there can be a lot of abuse involved, though.

Author's note: More of Jophiel in Husbandry. Thank you to @sleepyfan-blog for letting me borrow Cedric and Ash'val.
Warnings: None that I can tell. Let me know if I need to add anything.
Summary: As Jophiel recovers from over using his Psykery, but not turning into a Conduit or a Demon, and gets fussed over by his brother-cousins, he gets to make some art while he waits to be let out of the hiding spot.

Artistic talent and the pursuit of more than just warfar was something that their Primarch, Sanguinius, had done with his sons while he was alive, and it's an activity that they continue to do so.
Long into the Indominitus Crusade and those Eras in-between, the act of creation, of art of some kind. To help hone such a skill and to help ones humors become more tempered.
It was something that he'd been taught after he'd been sent to his First Born Brothers in the Blood Angels Chapter. How to create art, of course, all art is individual to the particular Space Marine.
And there are a lot of different ways one could make art, but he'd happened upon the type of art making that had called to him, or at least helped soothe and calm him. A type of meditation that was of deep, calming focus.
That had repetitive movements that had small parts that created a greater whole. His brother-cousins had been able to scrounge up something so that he'd be able to create art, while stuck on bed rest at the protective, scowling gaze of Cedric and Ramiel.
With Claude and Catius guilt tripping him with wide, pleading eyes that tugged at his hearts strings and he'd capitulated with a huff. He did send a message to his Bonded that he was going to be staying with his brother-cousins in the Big City for a few days, possibly a week or two. He'd gotten a cheerful response back, he'd make sure to get them a little gift as an apology for being away from them for so long.
One of his brother-cousins has come back with a colored paper back that crinkles, it's full of the art supplies and he smiles gratefully at Catius, "Thank you for getting the art supplies, I appreciate it."
"You are welcome, Jophi," Catius says as he hands over the bag of art supplies.
Jophiel carefully pulled out the art supplies that had been gathered for him and he prepared to make some art. He was planning on making a gift for his brother-cousins that were staying at this base on a more permanent basis.
While he would come to this base to see them, he'd rather not deal with the potential Drama that was a Cursed One of the Ninth legion being on Ancient Terra.
He's glad that his fellow Primaris Brothers didn't seem to get afflicted with madness at the sight of his wings, but he's heard the stories, heard the histories of entire chapters of the Sons of the Ninth Primarch tearing each other apart over the madness that is the winged Astartes.
Granted, Ancient Terra seems different with how the Warp reacts to things, he'd rather not risk that when the stakes were so much more… difficult to navigate.
Also, being stuck on one planet, and not have any resources to get off of it had his wings itch and his hands twitch in a way that had Ramiel staring eagle-eyed at him for 'self-harm' habit of his.
He hummed one of the Hymns to the God Emperor's Glory as he prepares his cross-stitching surface and makes sure that all of the different kinds of yarn are carefully labeled by color and he tries to figure out what kind of design he wants to go for.
He starts threading the needle with the outline color and starts to stitch the outline of a flower, not one native to this world, and wouldn't be found until the Imperium sends its mighty colonization ships out to seed the habitual stars and planets with humanity.
He finish the outline of that flower and outlines a few more flowers and plants, and leaves. All of these plants are from his nearly perfect memory as he starts to cross stitch the leaves, stems and flower petals in the bright, colorful strands of thread.
He slowly goes over each flower in careful, neat stitching that he's careful to use just enough strength that it's tight, but won't snap the delicate threads. Once he's finished with the flowers and stems, leaves and vines of those plants.
He opens the hoop and shifts the work so that another part of the cloth canvas that is blank is now centered within the hoop as he does more stitching, firs the outline, then the internal components. His brother-cousins come and go to check on him, occasionally sneaking him to a different place, so as to not have him be found by older brother's and cousins of this base.
He's glad that his brother-cousins were able to finds such a large, blank cloth canvas for him to work on. By the time he's finished the whole piece, it's a large, cross-stitched piece that could become attached to a blanket that could easily be sized for an astartes to sleep under.
His brother cousins ooh- and ahh- at the designs. He'd gone for leaves, vines, flowers, and plants, all of them either dramatically beautiful in coloration, or had symbolism and properties that could be used in medicines to help heal those who are sick and injured.
That was not lost on Cedric and Ramiel from the wry smiles they give him. Catius and Claude come by with more art supplies as they help him stuff the supplies that could make cloth and cotton fluff into becoming a blanket.
He carefully stitches the art he's made into the blanket, ensuring that it could be washed and dried with a machine for easy use. He carefully folded up the blanket and used the paper bag to mostly hide the blanket that they'd all seem him back.
As he didn't need much sleep and wasn't supposed to move much, he'd been able to make the blanket within a week of being stuck inside this place.
He'd made several smaller pieces, one for Claude, Catius, and Ramiel as well. The largest piece was going to go to Cedric, to thank him for all the trouble that was patching up his dumb ass and for all of them as a thank you for not turning him in to their First Born Older cousins, and older brothers for some of them.
He is acutely aware of the risks that they are taking, what with hiding and protecting him as they are, and he's impressed by how success they have been with keeping him out of the hands of their older brothers and cousins without them knowing. Or at least, overtly knowing the truth.

Alterhuman alphabet!
(credits to @/local-xenogender-icon)
A - awakening
When did you realise you are an alterhuman? At what age, how long ago?
I awakened around two years ago, when I was 12. My neighbour/friend and I were hanging out outside our houses and he asked if I knew what a therian is. I said no, and he explained it to me, and told me that he is one. I was really interested, because I've felt very cat-like since I was a kid, and often saw myself as a cat, and afterwards I researched more about therianthropy and asked my friend a ton of questions and around a week later I confirmed that I am indeed a therian!
B - balance
Does your identity affect your social life (school, work, etc.)? Does it cause troubles or not?
It doesn't really affect my social life much, but I get phantom ears very often and it gets uncomfortable sometimes, and my friends often ask me if im ok bc I'm aggressively rubbing my palm against my head to try and get rid of my phantom shift :,)
C - city
Do you live in a city? If yes, is it hard for you to be away from nature? Does your therio/kintype even need nature?
I live in a sub-urban area (thankfully) because cities are pretty overwhelming for me. The area I live in has plenty of trees and bushes but it's mainly just in people's front yards and I wish there was a small forest nearby that I could walk around in, but sadly there isnt't :(
D - diary
Do you have a diary about your alterhuman experiences? If not, do you want to start one?
I used to, but I kept forgetting to add entries to it so I gave up lol
E - experience in the community
What is your experience and thoughts about the alterhuman community?
So far, everyone's been really nice! Everyone seems to be really supportive of eachother and I've only seen discrimination in the community once or twice. I'm also a little concerned about the nonhumans who are severely struggling mentally due to their nonhumanity.
F - friends
Have you told your friends about your identity?
My three closest friends know, and they're very supportive!
G - gear
Do you have any gear? If yes, is it handmade or bought?
I have an ear headband that my neighbour gifted me for christmas, and although the colours are wrong, I love it and wear it pretty often. I also have a half-finished yarn tail that's been a WIP for a couple months now because I can't find the time to finish it. And I also have a necklace with a green gem, a rainbow and a wolf pendant! It was originally just the gem to match with my best friend's purple gem, but then I added the rainbow (bc LGBTQ+) and the wolf pendant came from an old necklace I got alongside a book (Wolves of the Beyond, I def recommend) that I got in 2nd grade.
I - identity
What is (are) your therio/kintype(s)?
Vancouver coastal grey wolf, Turkish Angora, Western jackdaw, orca and banded linsang!
J - jokes
Do you like to make little jokes about your identity or is it rather serious for you?
Both! I don't really make jokes about it myself, but my friends often joke around about my nonhuman behaviours (in a nice way) and I laugh along :)
K - knowledge
In scale of 1-10, how big do you think your knowldege about alterhumans is? Are you new to this topic?
I'd say around a 6-7. I know pretty much all the basic stuff, but the more complicated stuff like physically-identifying nonhumans and otherlinks I don't really know much about yet, mainly because I've only recently heard about them.
L - liking, loving
Do you like your therio/kintype(s)? Do you love or dislike it/them?
I like my theriotypes a lot! I find my theriotypes really interesting, there's always something new to learn about my kind.
N - nature
Does your therio/kintype live in the wild, or rather not? (E.g. it's a house pet, or it's a robot.)
All my theriotypes are wild, except for my domestic cat theriotype.
O - otherhearted
Are you also otherhearted? If yes, what is your kithtype(s)?
I'm snakehearted!
P - popularity
Is your therio/kintype "popular" or is it rather rare?
I'd say my wolf theriotype is very "popular" if you just look at it like a wolf, but I've only seen one or two therians who are coastal wolves like me.
I see domestic cat therians everywhere so it's needless to say my cat theriotype is pretty "popular"
I see crow therians and raven therians a lot, but I've never met another jackdaw like me. I wonder why /gen
I used to think orca therians are rare, but after joining tumblr I found that there are quite a lot like me!
I've never seen another linsang therian, which makes sense because barely anyone knows asiatic linsangs even exist. They were discovered only in 2013 and we know next to nothing about their reproduction, social behaviours, and diet.
R - real body
Do you feel good about your physical body? Do you experience gender dysphoria?
I don't get gender dysphoria often, but I do get species dysphoria. A lot of the time I wish my legs were shaped differently, or my face was longer, or I had a tail, wings, etc.
S - sex
Does your therio/kintype have a different sex than you?
Yes! I identify dpecifically as a male dominant/"alpha" (I dont really like using that word to describe it)/pack leader wolf because I do not feel maternal instincts toward young wolves. I know this because when I look at pictures of kittens, or see actual kittens, I feel a strong urge to look after them, clean them up, protect them from danger, etc. Aside from these two theriotypes, I don't identify as a specific sex.
T - traits
What are your alterhuman traits? (E.g. a need to hunt, bark, ect.)
I get extremely aggressive toward people who wrong me or people close to me, and my typical response is to growl/snarl at them.
If a friend gets their hand close to my face, I try and play-bite but they always draw their hand away (understandably).
When I'm in a group of people, or I see a group of people, I can often tell who the "pack leader" is within a couple seconds, even if it's not obvious to a human.
Very wide smile during tense/awkward situations or any situation where I feel threatened. It's basically a snarl but bc im physically a stupid human, no one notices >:(
Sometimes I raise my shoulders and then shake myself all out (usually involuntarily), which is like the human equivalent of feather rousing
I sometimes also bump/rub my head on my (close) friends' shoulders as a way to greet them
U - urges
If you have a theriotype, are you good at controlling your animalistic urges? Do they bother you?
I'm fairly good at controlling my urges, but when I get angry I feel like I'm gonna lose control and just go feral on everyone. It's never actually happened though.
W - wondering
How do you think you would look like, if you could physically shapeshift into your therio/kintype? (Describe or put an image here!)
I think I'd just look like any other member of my species.
Y - yarn
If you wanted to buy/make a tail, would it be real fur or fake/yarn fur?
I prefer real fur, but I'd only buy it if I'm 100% certain it's not from a cruel fur farm. But if I'm unable to buy it, I'd make my own, from yarn (which I've already started doing).
Z - zoo
How do you feel about zoos (a place, not z00philes)? Are they good or bad in your opinion? Do you want to go there to meet your theriotype (if you are a therian).
I think zoos are okay (only ethical ones), I enjoy going to them and seeing all the cool animals there. Sadly none of my theriotypes are at any of the zoos I normally visit.

Tom Daley knitted his Olympic diving partner a ‘c**k sock’
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/tom-daley-knitted-his-olympic-diving-partner-a-ck-sock/
Tom Daley knitted his Olympic diving partner a ‘c**k sock’
In an interview on Tom Daley’s YouTube channel, which has resurfaced as a result of the pair’s silver medal- winning performance at the Paris Olympics, the diver and knitting enthusiast revealed that he made Noah Williams a “c**k sock”.
“It was your 21st birthday and we were in the middle of Budapest,” Daley said “and I was like, ‘What am I going to get him for his birthday? You know what, I’ve got yarn, I’ve got a crochet hook, and I’m gonna make him a c**k sock.’”
The 30-year-old then stated that he knew what size to make the sock because he goes by “the one-size-fits-most rule”.
“Are you surprised that I’ve actually worn it a few times?” Williams then asked his diving partner.
“No, I’m not,” Daley responded. “I think you actually posted a photo on your OnlyFans of you in your c–k sock. It’s nice that they’re used. Most of the time people use it as, like, a little novelty thing that never actually gets used. So, yeah, at least it’s used.”
Tom Daley has become a knitting enthusiast over the past few years, and even started his own seperate Instagram account to share his creations.
Earlier this week, he share a special Paris Olympics commemorative jumper that he had knitted before the games.
The jumper is in the shades of red, white, and blue to match both Tom’s UK flag and the Paris flag, with the intricate Eiffel Tower Paris 2024 logo across the front.
His initials “TD” are on one sleeve and the number 5 on the other, to represent the diver’s fifth Olympics.

Orion D'Oschon
— B A S I C S
Name: Orion D'Oschon
Nicknames: Rion (mostly G'raha), Legs or Specs (mostly Kendra)
Age: 30ish
Nameday: 19th Sun of the 5th Astral Moon
Race: Xaela
Gender: Cis Male
Orientation: Bisexual
Profession: Warrior of Light, Aetherologist, part-time Historian, Botanist
— P H Y S I C A L A S P E C T S
Hair: Burnt Umber (Very dark reddish brown), kept short except for a section of braids along his right temple. Orion's hair is very thick and dense, giving a matte or velvet effect in the light.
Eyes: Amber with golden limbal rings
Skin: Umber (a bit lighter than his hair but in the same color family)
Tattoos/scars: He's got a pretty big scar running down his left leg from the fight with Zenos in Rhalger's Reach, small surgical scars around his knees from where he had to have reconstructive work done after Endwalker, and a small Mol clan tattoo on his inner wrist.
— F A M I L Y
Parents: Dolgoon Qestir (father) and Odsetseg Mol (mother). Both are alive and well and living in Ul'Dah. They also use the D'OSchon surname in Eorzea.
Siblings: None.
Grandparents: Temulun Mol
In-laws and Other: Cousin - Cirina Mol. Various other cousins, aunts, and uncles within the Mol tribe. No In-laws, Kendra doesn't have any living family.
Pets: Birdlegs (chocobo), Lily (Eos, she's not a pet, but she's important and I wanted to list her), Walpole (a very bitchy Carbuncle).
— S K I L L S
Abilities: SCH main (Scholar questline is canon for him), aetherology (he started his work with the Scions as Y'shtola's personal assistant), experienced and competent field medic, unique echo manifestation gives him the ability to see the flow of aether around him in a synesthesia-like effect.
Hobbies: Reading, astrology (learned from his mom), botany and gardening, botanical drawing, alchemy, helping Kendra in the kitchen, knitting, letter writing.
— T R A I T S
Most Positive Trait: Orion has an inquisitive mind. His desire, not only to know but to fully understand phenomena has led him to several ground-breaking discoveries. And he does not hoard knowledge. He'll enthusiastically share his findings with anyone who cares to listen. He is also just as inquisitive and keen to understand in social situations, making him an empathetic and open-minded person in general.
Most Negative Trait: Orion has a deep-seated distrust of governments and other institutions of traditional authority. This is not without reason, or even some merit, but it can make him difficult to work with when it comes to large-scale endeavors. His words or actions have nearly cost the Scions a deal more than once.
— L I K E S
Colors: Blue, especially woad, ink, and rhotano blue / Green / White / Warm browns / Metalics, especially gold.
Smells: Sandalwood, cedar, oolong tea, jasmine (reminds him of Kendra's perfume), libraries and well-preserved old paper, and morning fog in the Dravanian highlands.
Textures: The downy fur of Kendra's ears / yarn spun from the karakul of the Azim Steppe / well-loved leather-bound books / smooth, expertly-blown alchemical glassware.
Drinks: Tea, especially oolong or pu-erh. If Orion does not have access to actual pu-erh, he will make an equivalent with the darkest Sharlayan-style tea blend he can find, a custom blend of additives he will not divulge, and karakul milk. Just tasting it once put Urianger in a sickbed for two days. / Botanical spirits such as gin and aperitifs. He's even made a few himself.
— O T H E R D E T A I L S
Smokes: Medicinally smokes whatever variety of moko grass gets you stoned. He will also occasionally smoke tobacco socially, especially cigars.
Drinks: An adventurous but moderate drinker. He'll try anything at least once. He can occasionally be cajoled into heavier indulgence but that's abated as he's gotten older.
Drugs: There have been a few controlled "experiments" over the years.
Mount Issuance: Birdlegs is his primary mount that travels with him almost everywhere. The dusky, gigantic chocobo has become a bit of a legend in her own right. However, he does also technically have a yol as well, but has entrusted Cirina with his care because there's just not enough room on any of his properties for a bird of that size.
Been Arrested: For a mild-mannered professor type, Orion has been arrested so many times.

finished my first tablet weaving project!! It is… not perfect. I don’t even know if it’s the right size to be worn as a belt- it’s a bit short to wrap twice around my waist but it’s a bit long to wrap once. Oh well, I learned stuff. I’m excited to start a new project but I don’t know if my loom is good enough for this (it’s so small!) and I haven’t figured out how to make that better or if I need to buy/make a new set up /:
the yarn is K+C cotton and I do not recommend it for this. It frayed soooo much, leaving clouds of fiber as it went through the cards. Nothing broke but idk. I will find a new yarn for next time.

Shrine of Deceit
Author's note: Alpharius's next chapter in Living Waters AU.
Past =-= Next
Warnings: Alpha Legion Nonsense, let me know if I need to add more.
Summary: 'Zariel' gets a secondary mission. Try and weakly bond to a Gannet Harpy that was just Rejected by a Black Templar.

Zariel had a new secondary mission, besides his normal mission of ‘infiltrate and monitor the band of Loyalists in this section of this city on Ancient Terra. He had been informed that one of the members of a feral war band of Black Templars that had been wandering into the city for supplies that they needed to acquire from the locals, be it the base line humans or in trade with the loyalist space marines had accidentally found his base line human.
Instead of accepting the bond, the stubborn idiot was leaving with a couple of his fellow brothers were leaving the city. Rejecting the bond, per the stern orders of the Chaplain Captain Pet-something. Honestly, there were only so many times a space marine can reject a weaker, lower-level bond before the Warp decided to Punish them and they get hit with the more… Intense bonds.
It’s something that the Alpha legion has been monitoring and tracking since they first arrived on Terra. The many different ways and forms bonds could happen, loyalist, renegade, chaos. From not warp made, to the strongest, most warp-intensive bonds that are almost insanely powerful.
He and a squad of his brother’s were going to assume the face and figure of the foolish Black Templar that had Rejected the bond and would see if they could start to form the basis of a bond with the human.
It is extremely rare and very weak, but sometimes, Alpha legion can find the rare person who clicks with them. It’s a very delicate and difficult balance to do so. He and his brothers all have to be able to be around them, and tend to their other various duties.
He’s the first to meet them, and gently croons to them, in the Black Templar Idiot’s guise and face, his accent matching that of the Fool. They seem surprised, understandably cautious, and painfully hopeful all at once.
Over the next several months he and his squad start to form a bond with the human. Making sure not to be noticed by the other Black Templars in the city. Glad when the war band leaves, surprised that they had stuck around for so long.
They left after the Chaplain Captain had a vicious argument with a couple of ostracized Black Templars chased them out. That was also something they were going to send back to their other brothers to monitor that situation.
Black Templars can be highly temperamental at times, and unpredictably predictable. Often quicksilver moods that could become highly destructive and relied upon for muscle and combat. Usually has to be managed and directed and aimed a certain direction to not blast at an unwary Alpha Legionary.
Having a human is… wonderful they are sweet and affectionate with him and his brothers. They make sure to report in on their shifts to tell them what’s happened and what went on so that they aren’t Surprised by something they mention. Each of them are Alpharius, but have their own quirks and traits that distinguish them from each other.
Not that their human as noticed, they are very good at masking their individuality from them. He tends to be the most focused on their health and welfare. Fusing over them if they cough or have sniffles the most. He’s glad that one of his other brothers, Talos, is an excellent cook and is the cuddliest of the lot of them. His third brother, Dolor, is excellent at making crafts with yarn and is the best listener of the lot of them.
