danielle put into words some of the deepest issues that i have been struggling with for my entire life and god was that healing. that idea of tricking people into thinking you’re likable, that your truest most authentic self will never be enough so you must be charming and fun and never let anyone see the emptiness inside—and i feel like it’s fitting that i’m watching neverafter as well rn, and how rapunzel is essentially what sam fears she is. rapunzel is bright and cheerful and charming and it’s all completely fake. but sam is so genuine.

and i think that maybe, she lets herself start to be more authentic. she doesn’t force herself to always smile. she is sweet and bubbly and that is authentic but she can also be _more._ so much of mismag is just, the characters learning to embrace themselves and who they are and learning to be loved in their entirety.
