Voltage Chara Cafe Chibis 2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Voltage once again claimed my heart by announcing the new merch for their upcoming character cafe. Weak as i am for chibis they just had to release animal hoodie acrylics of some of our best boys.
Kasumi tries to wriggle himself into my heart more and more by now also dressing up as a red panda! It almost feels like Kurosawa stole the penguin hoodie of him :D
Of course Tsugaru just had to have something bunny themed in the picture. Nomura has to watch out not to end up in Tsugaru's bunny merch collection at this point.
Kaga and Ishigami have their signature food and just had to have matching poses. Coincidence? xD
I wonder what the animals say about our characters. They are all so very adorable! It's difficult to decide!
Anyways, if you would like to buy some chibi merch too, @lydskisses organises a group order for the event. If you are curious just contact her ;)
Who is your favorite?

新しいのVIP Room’s Event: irresistible Mistakes
All 12 characters drawn in school uniform \(//∇//)\
“I’ve been in love with you since that spring”
Tumblr media
Alone in the student council room, their first after-school date, the night of the school festival….
“I’ve loved you ever since that spring”
What if he was your high school sweetheart?
Tumblr media
Maki Yukihisa: The Dangerous Senior in the Nurse Office:
One evening in the school infirmary.
The person treating you is Maki, who’s constantly surrounded by all sorts of rumors. This person is seriously dangerous.
Just the other day, he kissed me—so casually, like it was nothing…
Even though you’re drawn to him, you stay on guard, thinking, ‘He’s just teasing me.’
But with spring approaching, the time for your parting from this med school-bound guy is drawing closer by the second…
(AHHH new Yuki side story!!!)
Tumblr media
Kijima Toshiaki: A Miraculous True Love
Kijima, who brilliantly won first place in the kendo club tournament, is your boyfriend. But probably, he only agreed to date you because he ‘had no reason to say no.’
I mean, you haven’t even had a real date yet…
So you made lunch for two, hoping at least to eat together—
But then, he…”
Tumblr media
Tsujimoto Minoru: I Don’t Like That Senior
Every day, Student Council member Tsujimoto comes all the way to the 2nd-year classroom just to see you.
But once again today, he’s roughly dragged away by Kiriya, Hayama, and Asaoka…
And that’s okay — because if he keeps pursuing you any more, you might actually start falling for him…
Then one day, he calls them to the schoolyard and says to you, ‘If I win…’ and challenges them to a match…?
(ugh please if someone gets the CGs send it to me 🙏)

Imagine first season Araki Jun meeting an MC who has strong feminist ideas and takes no shit. That would have been a good clash of life philosophies.

Finally a proposal!
Ten new members have joined AdsC! Both love and work are going perfectly… or so it seemed. A rumor that Araki was a ‘habitual bully’ leaked online. On top of that, their relationship was caught as a ‘scandal’ by a weekly magazine. This is the story of the last trial before marriage, where he will do everything to protect you.
‘I will protect you with all my heart and soul. I’ve made that decision a long time ago.’
(omg 😭 just let him live!!!)
Tumblr media
Kusai Kunihiro Season 5 Part 1:
Kasai, I’m pregnant…!
Both work and married life are going smoothly! Kasai happily suggests having a wedding ceremony, and you’re excited every day. But then, your health starts to falter, and you begin to suspect you’re pregnant. However, instead of the joy you expected, Kazai’s reaction is lukewarm? From there, differences in values start to become apparent…
Can the two of you find a happy future together!?
Tumblr media
Kusai Kunihiro’s S5 Part 2:
While the wedding preparations are progressing smoothly, you were ignoring the differences in values between you and your partner. Then, a tip about an affair leads to a fight, and you head off on a business trip to France.
Even when you’re busy and far apart, Kasai is the only one in your heart. Just as you reaffirm your love for him, a major crisis arises. And who comes to the rescue? None other than your beloved husband, who shouldn’t even be in France!
‘Will you accept my feelings?’

Flowers & Mushrooms
Essays by M. Harder, M. Moschik, T. Teufel, P. Weiermair, V. Ziegelmaier et al.
Hirmer Verlag, München 2013, 256 pages, 24x28,5cm, ISBN 9783777421605
euro 40,00

Flowers and Mushrooms takes readers inside the rich and diverse symbolism of its eponymous subjects. Flowers have at times stood for freshness and fertility, transience and death. In addition to its ubiquitous and much-maligned image as a hallucinogen, the mushroom has throughout history signified health and life and served as an important symbol within religious ritual. In recent years though, flowers and mushrooms have become a focus in contemporary art, with artists manipulating the many clichés that surround them and adapting their representation to produce new and unexpected layers of meaning, from social criticism to feminism and the conceptual framework of the erotic. Among the leading plant portraitists are the Swiss duo Peter Fischli and David Weiss, whose series of forty photographs epitomize the potential to shed new light on familiar objects by presenting them in unusual context.
The exhibition at MdM Museum der Moderne - Salzburg presents works from Nobuyoshi Araki, Anna Atkins, Eliška Bartek, Christopher Beane, Karl Blossfeldt, Lou Bonin-Tchimoukoff, Balthasar Burkhard, Giovanni Gastel, Georgia Creimer, Imogen Cunningham, Nathalie Djurberg, Hans-Peter Feldmann, Peter Fischli/David Weiss, Sylvie Fleury, Seiichi Furuya, Ernst Haas, Carsten Höller, Judith Huemer, Dieter Huber, Rolf Koppel, August Kotzsch, David LaChapelle, Edwin Hale Lincoln, Chen Lingyang, Vera Lutter, Katharina Malli, Robert Mapplethorpe, Elfriede Mejchar, Moritz Meurer, Paloma Navares, Nam June Paik, Marc Quinn, Albert Renger-Patzsch, Zeger Reyers, Pipilotti Rist, August Sander, Gitte Schäfer, Shirana Shahbazi, Luzia Simons, Thomas Stimm, Robert von Stockert, William Henry Fox Talbot, Diana Thater, Stefan Waibel, Xiao Hui Wang, Andy Warhol, Alois Auer von Welsbach, Michael Wesely, Manfred Willmann, Andrew Zuckerman.

My top 10 Voltage Guys. Ordered as favorites and as most likely to get along with in real life (2023 Version)
Now that so many stories I have been waiting for are out, I can continue my tradition with this top. I can't believe it took me so long to do it. Yet, I had a hunch Togo Daimon would be a bias wrecker. So, yes. Here we are again.
P.S. In the “Most likely to get along with me in real life”, the first brackets are the comparison with the results from the last year. The second bracket shows how the characters changed places compared to their rank in my favorites.
P.S.S. You can request fics with all characters on this list.
2021 Version; 2022 Version
My Favorite Voltage Inc Guys
Dropped out from the last year: Taro Akuchi, Takaomi Tsugaru, Toshiki Kasumi
10. Mikoto Amamitsu (New Entry)
9. Jun Araki (-6)
8. Sui Claude Saigu (New Entry)
7. Suzumu Mado (-1)
6. Kuranosuke Kiba (+2)
5. Hyogo Kaga (+5)
4. Hideki Ishigami (-2)
3. Munechika Takado (+4)
2. Toshiaki Kijima (-1)
Togo Daimon (New Entry)
My favorite Voltage Inc. guys ordered as I’m most likely to date/get along in real life:
10. Hyogo Kaga (=)(-5)
Don't get me wrong, I do love him a lot, especially in his newest seasons. I think he has the biggest character development out of all the characters I have read their stories for. However, he is working well with MC. He would work awful with me. I'm stubborn, independent, and bratty to rely on someone else as he wants his love to do.
9. Sui Claude Saigu (New Entry)(-1)
This one is strange. If you ask me about his main story, I will struggle to answer. All I know is that I loved him the most out of all PLUST members, which was unexpected because I didn't even want to read his story. But from what I remember, he is empathetic and hard-working, with a secret soft side. However, we both are too stubborn to work well together.
8. Jun Araki (-4)(+1)
Wanna laugh? When I started doing these tops in 2021, he was in this place. I won't change my words from last year about us two having a similar approach to work. Yet, the others are too good for this alone to make him higher. Plus, his sex-centered characteristics scare the shit out of me, considering that I don't like touches from men.
7. Toshiaki Kijima (+2)(-5)
Toshiaki is the love of my life, and I adore him to death. Recently, I don't even remember in which story, he said something along the lines that he can also be naughty and full of surprises. And this is what made me put him higher this year. I am the biggest homebody in all my groups of friends. However, I'm that crazy friend who is up for nearly everything. So, discovering his naughty side made me want to "corrupt" him a little.
6. Mikoto Amamitsu (New Entry)(+4)
He is one of the characters I have the most in common. I'll say something strange, but after reading the first three MSs for PLUST (I haven't read Wataru's yet), I headcanon that all PLUST members are introverts. And here is Mikoto, the center, the flirt, the favorite. Damn, this man reminds me of myself due to how many random skills and knowledge he has. Also, his love for literature is gold. Plus, he's super empathetic, smart, ambitious, and ready to help everyone. Can I marry him? He is one of the characters I want to be most like.
5. Suzumu Mado (-2)(+2)
I will never stop yelling from every hill that this man has one of the healthiest ideas about love and relationships I have seen. Okay, maybe only in my opinion. If I were his girlfriend, we would be a couple of lazy cats, randomly helping our friends while pretending we don't care. Can you see the pattern? If not, wait for Kuranosuke where I explain it.
4. Kuranosuke Kiba (+2)(+2)
It's pretty strange how Kuranosuke with his dominant nature is higher than Suzumu & Mikoto, who are more carefree than him. At least they don't show everyone how much they worry. And taking into consideration my personality that dislikes to listen to others' rules, it doesn't make sense, does it? Yes, because we have the same family dynamic, and both are family-orientated (in a way). That's the thing that overturned Suzumu & Mikoto. Also, the reason why these three are so high is that they are a lot like me. I can understand how they are working, their ideas, and their plans. But this also means that we have similar cons and even traumas. We would work well together, but not the best.
3. Hideki Ishigami (-1)(+1)
Is someone surprised? Not me! During every top, he was pretty high on this list. As always, his only problem is he has a dangerous job while I'm a worrywart. But his humor, hidden kindness, and attitude towards MC = gold. Love him till death.
2. Munechika Takado (-1)(+1)
This is where you have to be surprised because for two years he was the first. He is everything I want in a man: kind, smart, funny, stoic but soft with you, serious about his relationship, supportive, and caring. Plus, Takado is taller than me and a doctor! If I met a doctor like him, I would fall for him more than definitely. Poor thing he is fictional. But you know what thing makes him fall from his 1st spot? The fact that the next one isn't as harsh with words. And my "words of affirmation"-craving heart made its choice.
Togo Daimon (New Entry)(=)
For the first time in three years, my favorite is also the first in this top. Don't even dare to tell me that the man who loves you from the start, protects you, is a feminist (at least considering his actions), can do everything for you, can take care of the house, is cute, isn't afraid to admit his relationship in front of others, isn't perfect! But why do I think that we can work well together besides the fact that he is already perfect when I'm more than definitely not? We were the youngest kids who cared for the rest of the family while bottling up their feelings. He is more in control of this trauma than me. He may be the perfect boyfriend, and I may not be the perfect girlfriend. Yet, I'm the perfect boyfriend, too (according to all my friends). There would be a war of who takes better care of each that would be even worse than in his story due to me being a lot more stubborn than MC. Plus, I have a carefree, yet responsible attitude towards life that he sometimes lacks.

main hange gender post
seems there's getting to be too much for a single link, so here's everything. last updated january 12th 2025
see my gender tag for an uncategorized list of every post i've ever made concerning hange's gender.
for refutations of frequently made arguments about hansi's gender, see my page listing them.
listed inspirations for Hansi's characterization: "Hayato", one of Isayama's childhood friends (also spoken about in the Shingeki Homecoming event from Nov 2014), Tomohiro Machiyama
everything from the original manga, isayama, editorial and publishers on hansi's gender: -Sep 2009, volume 1 there is a feminine character with light eyes, medium hair, middle parted bangs and a ponytail in the same position as Hansi in the anime adaptation.
-Dec 2009, Isayama first details Survey Corps veteran designs including Hansi with dark messy hair, brown eyes and goggles.
-Feb 2010, Hansi first appears unnamed with the same design in the side story before chapter 10.
~Feb 2011, Hansi appears in the storyboard for chapter 19 with the placeholder name "Yamada Hanako" alongside Micke's "Yamada Taro", the equivalents of "Jane Doe" and "John Doe". My personal speculation is that Isayama couldn't easily remember the foreign names for these characters and quickly used gendered Japanese placeholders as he said before he struggled to remember the names of his characters.
-Mar 2011, Hansi's first named appearance in the manga. My correct spelling of their name is now relevant, as "Hansi" is a gender neutral diminutive of the name "Johannes". In Germany its association is male leaning, likely due to other male "si" or "zi" ending diminutives and the male association of "Hans".
-Mar 2011, Hansi's gender is first questioned by readers. Isayama responds to these questions on his blog by not giving a clear answer. Worth noting that around this time through 2011, Hansi's gender was of concern to Japanese readers wanting to ship them with men on the condition of them being female. Isayama's comment only contributed to the issue.
-May 2011, not explicitly concerning Hansi, but Isayama first watches a documentary about Shinsei Kamattechan which is my only lead on where he would have learned about gender nonconformity/genderqueer/trans identity.
-Aug 2011, Isayama includes a fake preview with volume 5 depicting them with female clothing, obvious breasts and a misogynistic trope. It can be taken that this was his answer to the controversy.
-Sometime between Apr-Sep 2012 (Dates from some scans of production material with original EXIF I have, I'm unfamiliar with S1 production beyond that) Kyoji Asano character designer and animation director for the anime adaptation designs Hansi's appearance. He later says "I thought that [Hansi] was female and designed [their] character sheet [thinking that], but director Araki (Tetsuro Araki) murmured '[I] thought [they] were male'. So there is an answer that [we] confirmed with Isayama. There was a specification that [their] hair is tied up carelessly without a feeling that [they] take care of it." (From Kyoji Asano Attack on Titan Cut Collection)
~Sometime between Apr-Sep 2012 Isayama provides reference material for the anime adaptation, including for Hansi. He notes that their status as otherwise female would be in question from the appearance of their face, and later says in an interview that Hansi "became female" for the anime, which I take to mean "they became more feminine in appearance".
-Apr 2013 Isayama's editor replies to a question asking "Is Hansi a woman? I firmly believe that [they're] a woman, but there are people who say [they're] a man because of [their] sometimes masculine appearance and way of speaking" with "I think [you're] unmistakably correct, so I've never even asked Isayama!"
-Jun 2013 Kodansha USA release the official English translation of volume 5, mistranslating Hansi's name as "Zoë Hange" and explicitly gendering them as female.
-Jul 2013 at Anime Expo 2013 S1 producer George Wada is asked why they decided to make Hansi female sexed, he responds (in English) "This is secret"
-Jul 2013 Isayama's editor replies to a question asking "Is Hansi male? Female? Please tell me!!!" with "It's a secret lol"
-Aug 2013 The social media manager of the Kodansha USA Tumblr blog responds to a question about Hansi's name and gender saying that their gender is up to interpretation, and that they gender [them] as female. It is worth noting that this caused a huge controversy. According to my memory the outcome of this controversy was the English speaking fandom canonizing them as nonbinary. I should look back through it in detail to see if there was widely spread misinformation (which seems true, if "Hanji uses gender neutral pronouns in Japanese" and the mess of the Kodansha USA social media manager's response is any indication). I guess I will tentatively put this down to language barrier/mistranslation/widely unknown context.
-Nov 2013 Isayama's editor replies to a question asking "Hasn't Hansi's gender been decided?" with "I asked Isayama before, it seems like either is fine."
-Jan 2014 The Kodansha USA social media manager replies to a question wanting clarification on their gendering Hansi as female that at some point Isayama issued a correction to them stating to use gender neutral pronouns for Hansi. Kodansha USA print they/them going forward, but as of the 19th printing of volume 5 in circulation in August 2024 their pronouns were still not corrected. This is presumably internally a point of contention for Kodansha USA, as in the English release of Attack on Titan Junior High volume 1 a few months later in March 2014 the translator was maliciously compliant.
~Likely early to mid 2014, before July 2015, the script for the Attack on Titan Junior High anime adaptation is finalized and includes a joke about Hansi being in the women's bathroom. They are referred to with the name "Hanako" which is the same name Isayama used as placeholder for them in 2011. The broadest reading of it is "Hansi doesn't belong in the women's bathroom", but whether this is commentary on canon or fan reaction is ambiguous.
-Nov 2014 The "Attack on Titan Homecoming" event is held in Hita, Oita where Isayama apparently responds to the following "Q: [What is] Hansi's sex? A secret. (lit.) [It's] been decided, but [I'll] settle it in the end" The phrase used here 決まっている that is literally "been decided" I have seen mistranslated, because this is a set phrase used to mean that something has "already been" determined and should be apparent. It would mean that he had their sex in mind from when he first designed them, that it exists in the text regardless of anything else, and has an impression that it should be obvious However there are other differing transcriptions of what he said "Q: Is it not allowed [for me] to ask about Hansi's sex? A: It's not allowed! Q: Of course lol. So, do you have an idea of it yourself? (lit. 'Have you decided in your [head]', where the 決まる would have come from. It does not carry a condescending feeling in this context) A: That's... I think that if I don't resolve it at some point it won't do, but... please bear [with it/me]." And there is another transcription that corroborates most of the above "Q: "Hansi's sex [is]? Isayama: [You] can't [ask] that!!! (same word translated as 'not allowed' above, ダメ) lol Someday [I'll]... try my best to (same word translated as 'bear [with it/me]' above, がんばる) resolve it" It seems like Japanese fans also actually weren't sure the intended meaning of がんばる here, which is why we have two different interpretations above
-Jun 2015 Isayama states that "If there was something like a character song for Hansi, it would have the image of this [song] 'jibunrashiku'" which is about struggling to conform to gender labels by Shinsei Kamattechan. He says that he's unsure if he's said it before, which gives the impression that he'd thought that about this song for a while. You can read a really good translation of the lyrics here.
-Nov 2015 Hansi's figure for Gekkan Shingeki no Kyojin Koushiki Figure Collection is released with an interview that mentions Hansi is to the best of my interpretation "ambiguously sexed", as he references a drag queen/female entertainment persona, who are both physically obviously and generally regarded as female characters, though much less so in Japan. He also says "I wanted to depict Hansi as appearing 'he'/'she'" (alternatively, "like 'him'/'her'", in reference to Matsuko), "a little away from the real world (lit. 'distant from [this] sad world'; meaning like 'away from (difficult) realities of being alive')", "with a feeling of freedom that [they] cannot be put into a category."
