Sirius was only half-listening to Albus during the mission briefing. It was always the same thing: go in, eliminate the threat, and get out. Simple.

He was an experienced enough hunter to know when he was in too deep, and he rarely was. Mary often told him he was too complacent, but he always just scoffed. What he was trying to say was, he knew this mission would be easy.

Except, when he identified the threat, he had a problem.

Because, although he knew his target was theoretically a blood-thirsty werewolf, his target was also hot. It didn’t help that they were in a club and the music was loud and there were so many people and he could swear that this couldn’t be the target because he was the most attractive man Sirius had ever seen and–

And then he looked at Sirius and the world stopped. And to make matters worse, the man, who Sirius suddenly remembered was named Remus from the mission briefing, winked at him.

Werewolves can't all be bad, can they? Sirius pondered as he approached Remus, a smirk playing across his face.

And as Remus dragged him out onto the dance floor, all thoughts of the mission gone, he thought, I guess I'm about to find out.

My parents had the JFK assassination. I had the Challenger explosion. My older boys had 911. My younger boys and their children will have July 13th.

 

Where were you moments. Life changing/ life defining moments. The times that draw a line separating before and after.

 

What makes even more impactful than the other events is social media, cell phones. We had twenty four hour news programming for 9//. That was still just the mainstream though.  With the Challenger explosion, it was covered only on the three networks, same as JFK’s assassination.

 

July 13th was covered on X, Facebook, Tumblr, Tik Tok, YouTube. Information shared at the speed of light. Theories examined and debunked, or accepted before the main stream media got their feet under them.

 

Nothing hidden, with thousands of cell phone cameras on him, on the shooter, on the protectors. Dozens of Zapruder films. Nothing hidden.

 

As with the others mentioned, we may never know the whole story of what happened four days ago. Unlike the others, the evidence won’t be able to be hidden.

 

A very good thing.
