Idk if this is a hot take but I really don’t think Kotaro Shimura and Endeavor are the same at all. Or should be hated the same.

Kotaro was also just a little boy dealing with the “rejection” and abandonment (no shade to Nana I love her too and I understand where she was coming from) of his mother. Just like Tenko who was dealing with almost the same problems from his own family.

What he did to Tenko was horrible and he DEFINITELY played a part in messing him up, but his anger was justified I think.

LET ME JUST RESTATE: KOTARO SHOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN IT PHYSICALLY OR MENTALLY OUT ON HIS FAMILY.

But I don’t blame him for being angry and rejecting hero’s. The whole league works towards rejecting hero’s because they wronged them. JUST LIKE KOTARO.

I think the only reason for Izu to not see the corruption anymore even when he is a prime victim of it...it's bc of bk. Really. Hori went out of his way to make BK "it's not so bad" and did the same for us, AIZAWA and Endy.

Hori shut the victim's voice.

I can say with confidence here...all Izu's issues in writing and outside steem from BK's existence and how much Hori loves him.

Bc there no excuse for a person who was abused 12 years given or take to be so naive. Izu defending ua and Aizawa is baffling as Aizawa wanted to expell him day 1

Izu worshipping am is baffling as am doesn't deserve his adoration bc the man did the abre minium (and that is better than what Inko, his mom, did)

Izu liking A1 is baffling too since they are siding with the abuser.

MHA is a story where the abuser won.

Izu is silent

Shiga is put down bc he is the bad vicitm.

Yeah, the way MHA treats its victims as opposed to its abusers is... Mind boggling.

Touya's backstory retconned so much of the Todoroki lore and anyone can see it was an attempt to make Endeavor look more human. And in the process, Touya and Rei were demonized even more

Bakugou gets sympathy and admiration from everyone. Izuku gets made fun of and ignored. Even when someone does show concern for his well-being, it's either a) never talked about further or b) made into someone else's- Bakugou's- moment

Dabi's reveal ended up resulting in the rest of the Todorokis supporting Endeavor, not a word about Rei's pain or trauma. Nope, she's just there to help Endeavor's redemption

Hawks and Nagant were turned into child soldiers and forced to kill by the HPSC. Do they get autonomy or retribution? Never. Hawks continues to be their brainwashed soldier and Nagant fades into the distance. Even worse, Hawks is used to prop Endeavor's- another abuser- redemption

Eri escaped her abuser so she should be healing in peace, right? WRONG. She mutilates herself for the so-called heroes

Izuku loses OFA, only to comfort Bakugou who's devastated by this for whatever reason even though he was the one who made Izuku feel worthless for being quirkless in the first place

Kotaro is a grown man who purposely abused his children, right? But screw that, Nana is to blame even though she did what she did to protect him. And also, no one told him to abuse his kids

The only ones who are treated fully as abusers are AFO and Overhaul. But, well, we know what a disaster AFO was and how terribly Tomura towards the finish was written so it really didn't matter in the end, did it?

I'm glad Nao never knew the truth about what AFO did to Tenko, because she'd have blamed herself for allowing that man into their lives.

But I wish Kotaro knew. I wish Kotaro realized what he had done, who did that to him, why his mother gave everything to defeat that man and even then she couldn't. Kotaro should have known and be horrified of how he sold his younger son to the devil.

What I like about Horikoshi is that he makes plot twists that seem obvious, but then he turns them on their head.

Remember the theory about Dabi, everyone knew he was Touya, but no one knew what kind of problems he really had with his father. While everyone thought that he was forcing Touya to train like Shoto, in reality it turned out that Endeavor, on the contrary, forbade it, and Touya did not listen to him.

Horikoshi is doing it again now. Everyone knew that AFO was responsible for Tenko's Decay and that he was keeping an eye on the Shimura family, but no one assumed that he was a close friend of this family.

AFO pretended to work for a construction company and then befriended Kotaro to keep an eye on how Kotaro's children were doing.

It's a shame that the flashback with Kotaro ends so abruptly, because I think we would have found out that it was either the AFO who offered to give Tenko a quirk (or pretended to know someone who could do it), or Kotaro himself who asked him about it.

Hii, about your recent AU: how is TomurAFOs relationship to Toshi and Kotaro (and the other vestiges in general)? Is he also aggressive or does he just sulk & suffer in silence?

tomur(afo) is surprisingly a bit lenient on toshinori, since he spends all his hating energy on kudou, cus he lives with him everyday and has to deal with him constantly bc hes, ehem, his parent (his energy capacity matches his baby body lol) he only ever sees toshinori occasionally whenever the kudous visits the shimuras, or if theres a playdate set up btwn tomura and kotaro. so mostly tomura is just mean towards him haha

toshinori sees him as a little brother just like with kotaro :] despite how mean or scary tomura can be, toshi is completely Unbothered by it and teases him alot too

as you can tell from my prev drawings the shimuras and kudous are close family friends. and since they luckily had kotaro and tomura almost around the same time it was inevitable that theyd set both of them up to be friends

tomura sees kotaro as a nuisance as hes forced to be around him (but theres no malice). hes not aggressive for the same reason above so yes he does just sulk and ignore him. kotaro is, however, kinda clingy and sees tomura as his best friend (for whatever reason). and is usually the one who starts conversations and engages with him

now for the rest of the users, im not completely sure yet? just know he does nawttt like anybody (at first maybe). bruce, a constant presence in the kudou household that he kinda tolerates. nana, is kinda the same attitude with toshi too but since he doesnt interact with her often as yoichi drops him off for kotaro and him to play. now for hikage, daigoro and en, i dont have an idea yet . BUT hikage might be like an older brother figure too, as hes around 16 here, and that he's under bruce's care so he sees the family occasionally too

I think it's fairly obvious that not just Tenko's dad was to blame for the abuse he experienced, it was also his family's fault for not stepping in sooner. But still, this panel of Tenko's mother reaching for him...

Despite the fact that she was crumbling and dying, and that her son looked terrifying in that moment, she still reached out to try and hold him. To comfort her son.
