Adam and Chelsea's Turbulent Relationship on 'The Young and the Restless'
As July sweeps begin on The Young and the Restless, the drama intensifies, particularly for Adam Newman and Chelsea Lawson. Their complex relationship takes center stage, promising viewers an emotional rollercoaster. Let's delve into the latest developments and how they intertwine with the lives of other Genoa City residents.
Adam and Chelsea: A Complicated History
Adam Newman, played by Mark Grossman, and Chelsea Lawson, portrayed by Melissa Claire Egan, have a long and tumultuous history. Their relationship has been marked by love, betrayal, and numerous reconciliations. Despite their rocky past, they have always found their way back to each other, often driven by their shared concern for their son, Connor (Judah Mackey).
Recent Developments
In the latest Young And The Restless Spoilers, Adam and Chelsea traveled to Baltimore with their son, Connor, whose OCD has been a significant source of stress. The trip was meant to provide a change of scenery and possibly some relief for Connor. However, the pressure of dealing with their son's condition brought Adam and Chelsea closer, leading to an unexpected kiss in their hotel room.
As they console each other, the kiss raises questions about whether they will rekindle their romance or stop themselves before crossing the line. This moment is a crucial turning point, potentially reigniting their relationship and adding further complications to their lives.
The Impact on Other Characters
While Adam and Chelsea grapple with their emotions, other characters in Genoa City are facing their own challenges. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is dealing with the fallout from helping Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) get clean, which has put him at odds with his wife, Diane (Susan Walters), and his old nemesis, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). Victor's recent actions, including poaching Kyle to run Glissade with Audra and firing him from Jabot, have only added to the tension.
Nikki offers her support to Jack, promising to be there for him as he navigates these difficult times. This new alliance between Jack and Nikki is sure to stir the pot further, especially with Victor's manipulative schemes in play.
Chancellor-Winters Conflict
In another corner of Genoa City, the fight for control over Chancellor-Winters continues. Lily (Christel Khalil) and Billy (Jason Thompson) proposed splitting the companies, with Devon (Bryton James) and Nate (Sean Dominic) running Winters and Lily and Billy taking charge of Chancellor. Despite the supposed victory, Lily's unease suggests deeper issues at play, hinting at further intrigue and power struggles.
Conclusion
As The Young and the Restless gears up for a dramatic summer, the focus on Adam and Chelsea's evolving relationship promises to be a highlight. Their kiss in Baltimore could either mark a fresh start or lead to new complications, affecting not only their lives but also those around them. With other characters embroiled in their own battles, the stage is set for an exciting and unpredictable season in Genoa City.
Stay tuned to The Young And The Restless Spoilers for all the latest twists and turns, and keep an eye on how Adam and Chelsea navigate their complex emotions amid the ongoing drama.

Summer of ‘84 (2018)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eats: If I find a used condom in there, I’m gonna be so jealous.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay. Before I go ahead and give it the 120/100 I think it deserves, I’m going to let everyone know... I almost deducted all 100 points. I liked the movie. I liked the 80s summer adventure with friends, the nostalgia. I liked the actors. I thought it was fun and interesting. For about half the movie. Then I became bored. I got annoyed that this horror movie didn’t have anything horrifying going on. I was annoyed that it appeared to set itself up as “kid and his whacky friends save the day”.
But then he left the station, and I saw how much movie was still left... so I knew something interesting had to happen at the end.
They, of course, end up killing my favorite character, which I’m upset about, but I can forgive because of what killing this character ended up doing for the ending.
The unexpected ending and what I think will be under a spoiler, in case you’re looking at this and haven’t seen it, along with my ESE score.
Woody being murdered is the most genius thing this film did. Having Mackey kidnap Woody and Davey is just such a strong move. He makes them play a real-life game of Manhunt, their favorite neighborhood game, where he gives them a minor head-start and then chases them around this island that has only one bridge that leads to the mainland, though they have no clue what side they’re on or where they’re at on the island, and they have to get past him.
Davey tries to draw attention away so Woody can get away, but Mackey takes off after Woody and ultimately kills him. He slices Davey’s achilles tendon and Davey finds his best friend’s body. When Mackey catches up to him, he lets him know that he WANTS to kill him. But he’s not going to. He says that Davey spent that whole summer thinking about Mackey, and he’s not going to let him stop thinking about him. He tells him that he’s going to get him. That he’ll never be able to stop wondering when or how. If it’ll be in months, if it’ll be in years.
Now, a lesser movie would’ve had him found before the movie ended. Escaping in some asinine way that leaves it up to imagination.
This movie? Gave us the best ending. Mackey disappears into the night, leaving Davey to hobble back toward civilization, losing blood and emotionally distraught all the way.
When he leaves the hospital and gets back to his normal paper route, he has a voiceover that is cool and all, but ultimately has no bearing on how I feel about what happens in the end. On his paper route, he sees his other two friends, Eats and Faraday. Eats and Faraday give him a death glare... a sign that the friendship has ended and that they blame him for Woody’s death and the escape of the murderer.
So, he leave this kid with the everlasting fear that he’s out there and he is going to wait until Davey feels safe, and that’s when he’ll get him. And added to that, is the death glares from his former friends, the girl he likes leaving town, his best friend is dead... All of this? Leads him isolated on top of the constant terror that this dude could be lurking around any corner.
The layers of the psychological horror ending make up for any annoyance that it took so long for me to see anything “horror” about this horror movie. It makes up for killing my favorite character. I loved this ending. BRILLIANT ending.
ESE: 120/100
50 +5 for alien sticker +5 for alien shirt +10 for manhunt making me nostalgic +10 for Judah Lewis +5 for Cory Gruter-Andrew +5 for “peek-a-boobs” -10 for R-slur +5 for Nikki in his bedroom +10 for 80s pop culture references +5 for Nikki talking Davey up to make him look cooler amongst his friends -10 for getting caught +10 for finding the body and saving another kid +20 for such a genius ending

SUMMER OF ‘84 de RKSS : Un tueur si proche
Tumblr media
« Even serial killers live next door to somebody.  »

[SUNDANCE REVIEW] The Suburbs Are Only An Illusion of Safety in SUMMER OF ’84
Every Serial Killer Live Next Door To Someone. This brilliant tagline is echoed in every paranoia-fueled scene of Summer of ’84. Directed by François Simard, Anouk Whissell, Yoann-Karl Whissell. The adventurous thriller is a nostalgic throwback to a time when you had to get your hands dirty if you really wanted answers. Summer of ’84 follows 15-year-old Davey (Graham Verchere) and his friends as they investigate and spy on a neighbor he believes to be the Cape May Killer. There’s always been something about Mr. Mackey (Rich Sommer) that Davey found suspicious, but now that the killer has claimed responsibility for the deaths of over a dozen missing children, Davey attention is on his neighbor. Family and friends are doubtful that Davey‘s suspicions are anything more than another of his crack-pot conspiracy theories. Mr Mackey is a respected police officer after all…
The filmmaker Tri-Force, known as RKSS, made a big splash in the genre-film arena with their debut feature Turbo Kid (2015). Set in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of 1997, Turbo Kid was a blood splattered thrill ride that brought 80’s nostalgia back in fashion before Stranger Things could claim responsibility for doing the same. Summer of ’84. though a perfect addition to the wave of synth sentimentality we are currently riding, is a departure from their highly stylized aesthetic. Our very own Chris Aitkens recently sat down with directors François Simard and Anouk Whissell to discuss the reception of the film after it’s world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
This year, we felt more pressure, mainly because we’re returning with a very different movie than Turbo Kid. We were very nervous with the expectations from people who had loved Turbo Kid. This movie is very grounded, it’s the most serious movie we done so far, so we didn’t know how people would react to it.
What makes a quote-unquote 80’s Nostalgia Film so compelling is it’s adventure. And what kid, bogged down by suburban life, could pass up the opportunity for a summer adventure? Summer of ’84 is set against a backdrop of cookie cutter homes that somehow defined an era that clung onto an ideal American Living. Perfectly manicured lawns. Decorative drapes that added a hint of personality. A clean, polished car in the driveway of every stable home. Could a serial killer ask for a better place to hide?
From the outset of the film, our paperboy protagonist is convinced that the quiet, single police officer at the end of the street has a dark secret. With nothing more to go on than a hunch, he enlists the help of his puberty-possessed pals to follow this man’s every step. After a stale investigation provides only a boring routine of jogging, gardening, and television, no one believes that Mr. Mackey could possibly be the Cape May Killer. No one except a foolish boy seduced by mystery, willing to risk everything, including the lives of his friends, to expose a killer.
Somewhere in the middle of this all is the realization that no home, no matter how presentable, is safe from a dark, doomed existence. Behind every picturesque garden is divorce, depression and worst of all, murder. While the film spends little effort trying to shift your suspicion toward anyone else, there is a paranoia embedded in the story that has you pointing your finger even when the script may not. That said, among any predictability and girls’-with-little-reason-to-wander-next-door, Summer of ’84 holds a truly surprising finish. Our protagonist Davey barrels head first into danger at the drop of a hat because (unlike everyone around him) a life of regret and sorrow is something that only belongs to the strangers across the street. It isn’t until Davey is face-to-face with torment that his story truly begins, as the Summer of ’84 comes to a terrifying end.
Summer of ’84 is written by Matt Leslie & Stephen J. Smith, and produced by Matt Leslie, Jameson Parker, Thierry Tanguy, Shawn Williamson. The film stars Rich Sommer (Mad Men, Glow), Tiera Skovbye (Riverdale), Graham Verchere (The Good Doctor, Fargo), with Judah Lewis (Demolition), Caleb Emery (American Vandal), and Cory Gruter-Andrew (Okja, The 100) rounding out the cast.
Summer of ’84 is a production of Brightlight Pictures and Gunpowder & Sky, the studio behind last year’s festival hits Tragedy Girls, Manfield 66/67, and The Little Hours. There is currently no release date for the film, but it is sure to make festival appearances through the rest of year.

Cinepocalypse Film Fest 2019 - “DEADCON” Review
Tumblr media
by Roxy Tart
Directed by Caryn Waecther, the film is about Youtubers being haunted by some vengeful spirits at a Vidcon-esque convention. Sounds amazing! At least that’s what I thought, and it did start out pretty good.
It’s 1984 at a tech convention and the man who invented “LinkRabbit” an online chat room, is being told that no one will use his product and his project is getting shut down. Just then, a new friend, Bobby, hops online and tells him that he’s lonely, and if tech guy will help him make friends in real life, he’ll help tech guy make friends online. So far so good right? Child ghost who’s haunting the hotel figures out how to communicate through the internet, I’m down. Then the walls and the computer start to run with blood, I have no idea why, and we flash forward to 2019. Same hotel, different convention. This is ViewCon, and the hotel is filled to the brim with youtube stars, Instagram influencers, and really bratty little kids. Our leading lady AK Ashley (Lauren Elizabeth) is a Youtuber who is sick of getting paid to do nothing and tired of her adoring fans and wants to quit. When she gets told she doesn’t have a room at the hotel, her manager steps in and informs them that she has 6 million followers, and they should “kick out a snapchat star or something”. The manager overhears and tells her that a suite has just opened up, and sends her to a haunted hotel room that they never book and no one will go into. Look, Ashley isn’t the nicest person on the planet, but I really don’t think she deserved to be sent to her death for being upset that they messed up her room reservation. So she settles into her haunted room, and right away, you can tell things aren’t going to go well.
Next door in the adjoining room Ashley’s friend Megan (Claudia Sulewski) is also having issues with noises, electricity, and ghost boys; not to mention real life boy problems. She’s cheating on her complete douchebag boyfriend with the movie’s “hero” Dave (Keith Machekanyanga). I use the term hero lightly because the way that he eventually figures out what’s going on is that he sees the ghost kid, Bobby (Judah Mackey) standing over him and Megan while they’re sleeping… and he sees this, on a video, that he secretly made while they were having sex. This guy is the good guy?!?! WTF!
Anyways, after that we learn that Bobby isn’t the only ghost, there are other kid ghosts…and a grown man (maybe tech-guy from 1984?). We also learn that Bobby died in 1984, and he owns a bunny balloon that can kill people. I’m honestly still not sure if Bobby killed tech-guy and the other kids, or if Bobby killed tech guy and tech guy killed the other kids, or if the hotel is bad and it killed them all… I honestly have NO IDEA!! Although, that could be because I lost interest about halfway through and found myself staring into space and thinking about how much fun VidCon is.
Bottom line, this movie is a little all over the place, and I’m not sure it really knew where it was going, because I certainly didn’t. I almost feel like we got a few different movies put together into one, with every horror trope/cliche that they could think up shoved into a social media movie.
DeadCon will premiere at the Cinepocalypse Film Festival in Chicago. Following the world premiere in Chicago, Deadcon will continue on a festival tour this summer and fall. Gunpowder & Sky's new label Alter will eventually debut Waechter's Deadcon in select theaters later this year.
