Low Battery

Dean Winchester x gn!Reader

Summary: when your social battery is drained after visiting with family, you go to the one person who can fix it

Warnings: none, just comfort fluff (gender neutral but use of 'sweetheart' and 'baby')

A/N: this was mostly written for myself cause I'm hypoglycemic and get drained easily. Hope it helps people who also need a Dean recharge. Not proofread all mistakes are my own.

You were driving home after visiting your family for the first time in a while. You loved your family but sometimes they could be a bit... much, and your social battery was drained. You were so tired you had to turn the music up in the car just to stay awake enough to make the long drive back to the bunker. You were eager to get back to Dean.

It was a pretty common occurrence for your social battery to be low after spending time with people, to be honest almost everyone drained your battery. Everyone except Dean. He was one of the very, very few people who didn't drain you. In fact, in the years that you had been with him, he had become your 'recharge station'.

You walked through the doors to the quiet bunker, hanging up your keys and jacket. It was pretty late, so you knew that everyone else had probably gone to bed, but Dean was a late-night person like you, so you figured he'd still be up. Heading down the hall to you and Dean's shared bedroom, you saw the light was still on. You pushed open the door and saw him sitting at the desk, open laptop in front of him. He looked over at you leaned in the doorway.

"Hey Sweetheart", he said, giving you a soft smile that told you he was happy you were back. Even though you were only gone a day, he still missed you and always worried about you when you were away from him. That's why he had stayed up researching and waited for you to come home.

"Hey". You smiled at him and he could hear the tiredness in your voice, he could also feel the exhaustion practically rolling off you.

You walked over and wrapped your arms around him. When you were in his arms it seemed like all your problems melted away. He stood up from his chair so he could hug you back properly. "Missed you" you mumbled into his neck.

"Missed you too", he said softly, kissing the side of your head. He held you like that for a bit longer until he took your hand in his and gently guided you down the hallway. "Come on"

"Where're we going" you said with a slight pout that he thought was adorable. He knew that you wanted to curl up in bed with him and go to sleep, but he had also come to know what you needed when your social battery is drained.

"We're gonna get you some food", he knew your blood sugar was probably low and you were probably harboring a gradually worsening headache."You're gonna tell me how it went and then we're gonna go to bed" He lead you to sit at the kitchen counter while he gathered the things to make you a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a mug of tea.

You watched him work and couldn't help but smile at how attentive he always was to you. He had been with you long enough to know exactly what you needed and remembered when you told him that PB&Js were one of the best foods to eat when you need an energy boost, and that hot tea could combat headaches. Not to mention that it was also a nostalgic comfort food for you.

"Boom!", he set the plate and mug in front of you with a proud smile, like he was serving you a five star meal. "Do you want some Advil?"

"No. Thank you", you smiled. Honestly you'd take this over a five star restaurant any day. He walked around the counter to sit on the bar stool next to you while he waited for you to finish eating and listened to you tell him about your day and vent about your family.

Once you were done eating, he took your plate to the sink for you and then took your hand again to lead you back down the hallway. Your headache had subsided and you were ready to curl up in you warm bed and cuddle up to boyfriend.

Dean could tell that you were basically sleepwalking at this point so after you brushed your teeth and washed your face, he picked you up to take you back to your shared bedroom. He set you on the bed and lifted your shirt over your head to replace it with one of his shirts. You loved wearing his clothes.

After changing into comfortable clothes, he got under the covers and turned out the lights, opening his arms in invitation. You let him pull you as close as possible.

"G'night baby", he whispered placing a hand in you hair and a lingering kiss to your forehead like he was trying to banish the last bits of your headache.

"Night Dean", it was all you could get out before you felt sleep pulling you under. You didn't usually fall asleep fast, but you were tired and in the comfort of his arms you couldn't help but drift off.

OOH i was hoping someone would ask me this !! dead poets society is my all time favorite movie, but i feel like i could get bored of it :/ sooo i think 10 things i hate about you maybe ?? it's another of my faves and it's very rewatchable. then coraline cz everytime i watch that film i immediately want to watch it again it's sooo good omg. and then i think lady bird. i've only watched it once but it's so good and honestly probs one of my favorite movies. i need to rewatch it :) but anyway it's v relatable and idkkk i js love it sm

honestly i thought way too long for this question LMFAO. i've definitely not always been true to myself or wtv BUT i'm v proud of generally being able to stay on top of things. i get good grades + i'm usually able to deal w my mental health even when it's very stressful ^_^

here are my Real, Actual final thoughts on JS and if i keep talking about it i want to be whacked with a newspaper. at this point i know people are always going to willfully misinterpret critique of JS as being in bad faith and this is mostly me indulging myself before i blacklist everything related to the quest because i'm tired of thinking about it and i know everyone else is tired of seeing my stream of consciousness about it

i'm not opposed to jade wanting to have a child and i'm not even opposed to her story being one about her sacrificing herself for her baby. i still think the Dead Wife trope is insanely old and tired, but warframes sacrificing themselves has been a trend for a long time, so whatever. but JS completely failed in every way to meaningfully center jade's thoughts and feelings on the matter at all, so the sacrifice falls completely flat

we dont know anything about jade pre-warframing. we dont even hear from the quest itself that she used to be an executioner (i guess this is a voiceline in the ascension mission which is like... ok fair i guess, at least the information is communicated in SOME form). we dont know why she wanted a child, just that she Did. but even then we mostly just know that she wanted one (even after being warframed, i mean) because... male characters who would never have even spoken to her say so. and because at the very end of the quest, when she is actively DYING, she chooses not to "fight" her baby draining her life force... and even then, it's framed as though jade is a passive bystander here; that her vitality being drained is just a Thing that is Happening TO her that she may or may not even have the power to do anything about, and not something she's making a conscious, empowered decision to do. so i do not think this is proof that DE's writers cared about her agency or expected the audience to.

it's a huge shame, because there were so many opportunities here for DE to make her an active, enthusiastic participant in her story, and the writers missed every one. the stalker's view is prioritized at every turn and he's the one we're supposed to sympathize with, not the person who is DYING because he's too proud to find her help. even jade's few speaking lines are just... her asserting sorren's role in the story as Father and Protector. "you'll take care of us, always, won't you?"

jade killed people for the orokin as a 9 to 5 and would be keenly aware of what petty transgressions would get you tried and killed or WORSE under the orokin, and i find it hard to believe she genuinely thought sorren could protect them, but i guess digging the hole for stalker's guilt to take root was the priority over jade's insight and characterization. no reflection of her personality beyond being hopelessly loyal to and faithful in sorren, no way to extrapolate her motives. just "well sorren you're a Dad now so you have to protect your Wife and Child." like... ok.

post-warframing, being permanently pregnant was seemingly the orokins' punishment for her transgression of daring to get pregnant against their rules. i don't think jade was ever intended to actually give birth, given basic frame physiology + the baby bump being a permanent ornamental fixture on her body. maybe that was the big catch for her -- if she was ever mortally wounded, instead of reviving herself like other frames can, she would have to choose between saving herself or saving her child. that's the only reasonable explanation i can think of for why DE decided she HAD to die (other than for stalker's character development, obviously, but i'm trying to be generous). why not run with that? why not lean into the idea of jade truly just deciding it's her time and making the choice to grant her child the opportunity to live? why does it have to be a matter of stalker's gross, prideful negligence FORCING her into this situation? and why does this negligence go completely unpunished? why is stalker the one we're supposed to be siding with here?

this takes me to my OTHER major issue with the quest which is the Rock Band Birth scene and the implications of stalker roping a teenager into, uh, literally having contractions on jade's behalf as she's dying. i don't honestly think stalker KNEW that jade could give birth at all, and i don't think he even cared if she could. i think he really just wanted the tenno to save jade (i'm hoping that's what he wanted, because the alternative reading was that he really did just knowingly and willingly coerce them into giving birth for her, which is disgusting for obvious reasons). which is like... if jade's will truly was to give up her life for their child's, then stalker choosing not to respect that also goes completely unmentioned and unpunished because, again, jade's opinion was a complete afterthought here.

if you want to give jade some actual say in her fate AND avoid the absolutely horrific and bizarre implications of a teenager being strongarmed into Contractions Rhythm Heaven, but keep the same ultimate outcome of jade sacrificing herself for her child... just remove the last chunk of that scene altogether. KEEP the tenno transferring into jade's body at stalker's behest. have them make some comment about how they feel a second life force within jade, and that that's where she's choosing to reroute all of her remaining power. there's nothing the tenno can really do for her at this point except help her sustain that second life force with their inexplicable Magic Tenno Healing Powers. then instead of a tonally dissonant minigame, just have the operator transfer out of jade's body and say that they've done all they can do, that the second life force is stable now but jade herself has decided it's her time. she still dies but instead of disintegrating into naught but a fine mist, the glass dome cracks and her Magical Energy pours out and... forms a baby, i guess. or, i don't know, literally anything other than what we got lmfao

everyone in this quest could have been treated SO much better, we could have gotten SO much more out of it and DE just took the laziest possible "woman says nothing and dies for single dad man pain" route when i KNOW they can do better... jade never really got to amount to anything beyond an immobile body for stalker to have Character Development over. for fuck's sake, sevagoth had more agency in finding his own dead body than this. digital extremes made the decision to make a quest centered on something as personally, socially, and unfortunately politically laden as pregnancy and childbirth, and they couldn't even grant the pregnant character the dignity of having a personality outside of the male protagonist who mistreats her, because it just wasn't important to them. i don't think criticism here is remotely undeserved. we should be holding writers to a higher standard than this

Quick housekeeping update

Hey everyone! Since this blog is mostly inactive these days it might not seem like this is a big update, but for ME this is a big update that took a lot of work!

Since I know many of you have been around since the early days of Tumblr like me, you're probably aware the way posts are formatted have changed. I was noticing problems with how old AND new posts were displaying across all my blogs, so over the past month or so I've been working on updating my themes, pages, etc. This blog is the first one that's finished! All posts, old and new, are now displayed correctly, my pages are all up to date, and everything is generally formatted to be more accessible across the board.

The exciting and fun part of this for me was that for this blog specifically, I learned a much more complicated javascript code than I had ever used before. I learned basic HTML/CSS/JS a few years ago, but I taught myself how to use an entirely new, much more complicated JS plugin than I've ever used before (tippy.js) for this blog. And now that my content is all organized and displaying perfectly, when I get back to making jokes, everything will look great on the dash and on my blog.

im actually rly proud of myself rn cause I js got back from hanging out with my best friend and I'm not rlly a person who likes going out with people like 80% of my relationship with her is us being on the phone like 4+ hours at a time but I went skating with her and I wasn't very good at it but I had so much fun and gave her like a billion hugs so yay me

I feel like crying right now 🫠. I had a rlly bad week and it involved me having a mental breakdown and having to pretend like I wasn't crying when my parents came in my room. Not trying to trauma dump but I was js stressed over school assignments bc I usually never have trouble doing it and my room was very dirty and I had laundry to do and I'm sick and my parents think somethings going on with me because I was late to school three days in a row??? My dad literally said "What's going on with you lately?" While he was dropping me off and I started tearing up so I js got out of the car before I started bawling. My very best friend is ignoring me for some reason??? It usually only lasts like a few hours but this has been going on since Thursday and we still have not said a word to each other.

We're a trio w another girl but the other girl (let's call her v) has other friends and her main friends were a year older but they graduated so now we're a trio. I kind of didn't like her bc I let her rant to me when we were becoming friends but then she got too used to it and I became her therapist which I would be fine with bc I love her but she would never listen to me when I was talking and then when asked she would js giggle and say it's bc of her 'adhd' but then she would say she didn't have adhd too?? Like girl make up ur mind. But then I wouldn't let myself be walked over so I confronted her and she said ok I'll try to be better. Lately she has gotten a lot better and she's becoming a very important person in my life but it's usually always been me and my bsf right? Sorry to go off topic I forget what I'm talking ab and I js keep talking 😭 but uhhh anyways I told v aby bsf ignoring me and she basically told me that I should ignore her back bc she always does it to me and I'm always the one apologizing even tho I don't know what I did wrong most of the time. I send her a long paragraph and she js responds w lol and we move on.

So v told me that I don't deserve that, so I should wait for her to talk to me, and after a while, I was like, "Yk what? Youre right" and she told me "ik this sounds cringy but I'm so proud of you" I was alr kind of crying before that bc I always care more ab ppl then they do ab me and bc of the shitty week I had been having so when I read that I immediately started crying and I was muffling the sounds in my spiderman plushie (I'm so cool ik😎) and I was like that for ab an hour and I haven't talked to my bsf since. We had school the next day, and she ignored me, so I went to my other friends bc I have more of them in my classes than she does, and I had a pretty good day apart from her.

Anyways I forgot what my point was again 😭, but oh yeah today I woke up early to go see the eclipse w my cousins and when I came home I went to get starbucks w my dad and then showered (I had not showered in a while, stinky ik 😪((tbh I think it was the dirty room and clothes that was depressing me)) ) and then I cleaned my room and moved things around. (It was a deep clean day) and I went to go do laundry at my aunties. (I had to put two loads in bc I had a lot of clothes 😭) anyways it is currently 8:30 pm where I am and I js got home bc I had to walk home w my bin.

I come home to my little ipad kid cousins in my room on my bed (I didn't have bedsheets on bc I washed them) they had dirty bare feet and they were jumping on my bed and I had left a drawing on my bed and they crumpled it all up. My aunt js leaves them to do whatever they want bc the older one has autism so that's an excuse apparently??? (Don't come at me she's not a very good mom in that department)((wow that sounded judgy)) also I can't tell them to go away or not jump on my bed because then my parents are gonna make it seem like I'm being dramatic in front of my whole family (my aunts and uncles are here) also I'm Mexican btw so it's a very big deal. Also if I tell my aunt she's gonna be rlly sorry and make me feel guilty ab it and in the end they're gonna end up on my bed either way. Also ik my cousin is also having a bad week so ik small things will provoke him. So yeah 😁 I also have a class tmr at 6:30 pm for two hours and it affects me a lot bc then I feel out of it when I have to come home and get ready for school on Monday.

EVERYONE ON THE TRAM (in unison) H-o-n-e-y. Trudy flips the flask into the crowd, and laughs as they all scramble for it. ANGLE ON: A GIRL BEE catching the honey. ADAM (sotto) That girl was hot. BARRY (sotto) She’s my cousin. ADAM She is? BARRY Yes, we’re all cousins. ADAM Right. You’re right. TRUDY At Honex, we also constantly strive to improve every aspect of bee existence. These bees are stress testing a new helmet technology. ANGLE ON: A STUNT BEE in a HELMET getting hit with a NEWSPAPER, then a SHOE, then a FLYSWATTER. He gets up, and gives a “thumb’s up”. Bees with hand-shaped hats on, rotating around a wheel to catch drips of honey. Adam’s hand shoots up. ADAM Can anyone work on the Krelman? TRUDY Of course. Most bee jobs are small ones. But bees know that every small job, if it’s done well, means a lot. There are over 3000 different bee occupations. But choose carefully, because you’ll stay in the job that you pick for the rest of your life. The bees CHEER. ANGLE ON: Barry’s smile dropping slightly. BARRY The same job for the rest of your life? The nectar from the pollen jocks is removed from their backpacks, and loaded into trucks on their way to Honex. A SMALL CROWD forms around the Patrol Bees. Each one has a PIT CREW that takes their nectar. Lou Loduca hurries a pit crew along: LOU LODUCA You guys did great! You’re monsters. You’re sky freaks! I love it! I love it! SCHOOL GIRLS are jumping up and down and squealing nearby. BARRY I wonder where those guys have just been? ADAM I don’t know. BARRY Their day’s not planned. Outside the hive, flying who-knows-where, doing who-knows-what. ADAM You can’t just decide one day to be a Pollen Jock. You have to be bred for that. BARRY Right. SEQ. 800 - “FLYING WITH THE JOCKS” The bees climb above tree tops in formation. Barry is euphoric. BARRY Whoa! I’m out! I can’t believe I’m out! So blue. Ha ha ha! (a beat) I feel so fast...and free. (re: kites in the sky) Box kite! Wow! They fly by several bicyclists, and approach a patch of flowers. BARRY (CONT'D) Flowers! SPLITZ This is blue leader. We have roses visual. Bring it around thirty degrees and hold. BARRY (sotto) Roses. JACKSON Thirty degrees, roger, bringing it around. Many pollen jocks break off from the main group. They use their equipment to collect nectar from flowers. Barry flies down to watch the jocks collect the

nectar. JOCK Stand to the side kid, it’s got a bit of a kick. The jock fires the gun, and recoils. Barry watches the gun fill up with nectar. "Bee Movie" - JS REVISIONS 8/13/07 23. BARRY Oh, that is one Nectar Collector. JOCK You ever see pollination up close? BARRY No, Sir. He takes off, and the excess pollen dust falls causing the flowers to come back to life. JOCK (as he pollinates) I pick some pollen up over here, sprinkle it over here, maybe a dash over there, pinch on that one...see that? It’s a little bit of magic, ain’t it? The FLOWERS PERK UP as he pollinates. BARRY Wow. That’s amazing. Why do we do that? JOCK ...that’s pollen power, Kid. More pollen, more flowers, more nectar, more honey for us. BARRY Cool. The Jock WINKS at Barry. Barry rejoins the other jocks in the sky. They swoop in over a pond, kissing the surface. We see their image reflected in the water; they’re really moving. They fly over a fountain. BUZZ I’m picking up a lot of bright yellow, could be daisies. Don’t we need those? SPLITZ Copy that visual. We see what appear to be yellow flowers on a green field. "Bee Movie" - JS REVISIONS 8/13/07 24. They go into a deep bank and dive. BUZZ Hold on, one of these flowers seems to be on the move. SPLITZ Say again...Are you reporting a moving flower? BUZZ Affirmative. SEQ. 900 - “TENNIS GAME” The pollen jocks land. It is a tennis court with dozens of tennis balls. A COUPLE, VANESSA and KEN, plays tennis. The bees land right in the midst of a group of balls. KEN (O.C) That was on the line! The other bees start walking around amongst the immense, yellow globes. SPLITZ This is the coolest. What is it? They stop at a BALL on a white line and look up at it. JACKSON I don’t know, but I’m loving this color. SPLITZ (smelling tennis ball) Smells good. Not like a flower. But I like it. JACKSON Yeah, fuzzy. BUZZ Chemical-y. JACKSON Careful, guys, it’s a little grabby. Barry LANDS on a ball and COLLAPSES. "Bee Movie" - JS REVISIONS 8/13/07 25. BARRY Oh my sweet lord of bees. JACKSON Hey, candy brain, get off there! Barry attempts to pulls his legs off, but they stick. BARRY Problem! A tennis shoe and a hand ENTER FRAME. The hand picks up the ball with Barry underneath it. BARRY (CONT'D) Guys! BUZZ This could be bad. JACKSON Affirmative. Vanessa walks back to the service line, BOUNCES the ball. Each time it BOUNCES, the other bees cringe and GASP. ANGLE ON: Barry, terrified. Pure dumb luck, he’s not getting squished. BARRY (with each bounce) Very close...Gonna Hurt...Mamma’s little boy. SPLITZ You are way out of position, rookie. ANGLE ON: Vanessa serving. We see Barry and the ball up against the racket as she brings it back. She tosses the ball into the air; Barry’s eyes widen. ANGLE ON: Ken running up. He has a killer look in his eyes. He’s going to hit the ultimate overhead smash. KEN (CONT'D) You can just start packing up Honey, because I believe you’re about to eat it! ANGLE ON: Pollen Jocks. JACKSON Ahem! Ken is distracted by the jock. KEN What? No! He misses badly. The ball rockets into oblivion. Barry is still hanging on. ANGLE ON: Ken, berating himself. SEQ. 1000 - “SUV” The ball flies through the air, and lands in the middle of the street. It bounces into the street again, and sticks in the grille of an SUV. INT. CAR ENGINE - CONTINUOUS BARRY’S POV: the grille of the SUV sucks him up. He tumbles through a

black tunnel, whirling vanes, and pistons. BARRY AHHHHHHHHHHH!! OHHHH!! EECHHH!! AHHHHHH!! Barry gets chilled by the A/C system, and sees a frozen grasshopper. CAR - CONTINUOUS The car is packed with a typical suburban family: MOTHER, FATHER, eight-year old BOY, LITTLE GIRL in a car seat and a GRANDMOTHER. A big slobbery DOG is behind a grate. Barry pops into the passenger compartment, hitting the Mother’s magazine. MOTHER There’s a bee in the car! They all notice the bee and start SCREAMING. BARRY Aaahhhh! Barry tumbles around the car. We see the faces from his POV. MOTHER Do something! "Bee Movie" - JS REVISIONS 8/13/07 28. FATHER I’m driving! Barry flies by the little girl in her CAR SEAT. She waves hello. LITTLE GIRL Hi, bee. SON He’s back here! He’s going to sting me! The car SWERVES around the road. Barry flies into the back, where the slobbery dog SNAPS at him. Barry deftly avoids the jaws and gross, flying SPITTLE. MOTHER Nobody move. If you don’t move, he won’t sting you. Freeze! Everyone in the car freezes. Barry freezes. They stare at each other, eyes going back and forth, waiting to see who will make the first move. Barry blinks. GRANNY He blinked! Granny pulls out a can of HAIR SPRAY. SON Spray him, Granny! Granny sprays the hair spray everywhere. FATHER What are you doing? GRANNY It’s hair spray! Extra hold! MOTHER Kill it! Barry gets sprayed back by the hair spray, then sucked out of the sunroof. CUT TO: "Bee Movie" - JS REVISIONS 8/13/07 29. EXT. CITY STREET - CONTINUOUS BARRY Wow. The tension level out here is unbelievable. I’ve got to get home. As Barry flies down the street, it starts to RAIN. He nimbly avoids the rain at first. BARRY (CONT’D) Whoa. Whoa! Can’t fly in rain! Can’t fly in rain! Can’t fly in-- A couple of drops hit him, his wings go limp and he starts falling. BARRY (CONT'D) Mayday! Mayday! Bee going down! Barry sees a window ledge and aims for it and just makes it. Shivering and exhausted, he crawls into an open window as it CLOSES. SEQ. 1100 - “VANESSA SAVES BARRY” INT. VANESSA’S APARTMENT - CONTINUOUS Inside the window, Barry SHAKES off the rain like a dog. Vanessa, Ken, Andy, and Anna ENTER the apartment. VANESSA Ken, can you close the window please? KEN Huh? Oh. (to Andy) Hey, check out my new resume. I made it into a fold-out brochure. You see? It folds out. Ken holds up his brochure, with photos of himself, and a resume in the middle. ANGLE ON: Barry hiding behind the curtains, as Ken CLOSES THE WINDOW. KEN When I walk out of a job interview they’re flabbergasted. They can’t believe the things I say. Barry looks around and sees the LIGHT BULB FIXTURE in the middle of the ceiling. His POV: The seventy-five watt label grows as he gets closer. BARRY (CONT’D) I don’t remember the sun having a big seventy five on it. Barry HITS the bulb and is KNOCKED SILLY. He falls into a BOWL OF GUACAMOLE. Andy dips his chip in the guacamole, taking Barry with it. ANGLE ON: Ken and Andy. KEN I’ll tell you what. You know what? I predicted global warming. I could feel it getting hotter. At first I thought it was just me. Barry’s POV: Giant human mouth

opening. KEN (CONT’D) Wait! Stop! Beeeeeee! ANNA Kill it! Kill it! They all JUMP up from their chairs. Andy looks around for something to use. Ken comes in for the kill with a big TIMBERLAND BOOT on each hand. KEN Stand back. These are winter boots. Vanessa ENTERS, and stops Ken from squashing Barry. VANESSA (grabs Ken’s arm) Wait. Vanessa RIPS Ken’s resume in half and SLIDES it under the glass. KEN (wistful) My brochure. There’s a moment of eye contact as she carries Barry to the window. She opens it and sets him free. VANESSA There you go, little guy. KEN (O.C) I’m not scared of them. But, you know, it’s an allergic thing. ANDY (O.C) * Hey, why don’t you put that on your * resume-brochure? * KEN (O.C) It’s not funny, my whole face could puff up. He hides on a Bumblebee Tuna can, and a “Greetings From Coney Island” MUSCLE-MAN POSTCARD on the fridge. BARRY (on fridge) What would I say? (landing on a bottle) I could really get in trouble. He stands looking at Vanessa. BARRY (CONT'D) It’s a bee law. You’re not supposed to talk to a human. I can’t believe I’m doing this. I’ve got to. Oh, I can’t do it! Come on! No, yes, no, do it! They stare at each other awkwardly in a frozen moment, then BURST INTO HYSTERICAL LAUGHTER. Vanessa GETS UP. VANESSA You coming? BARRY Got everything? VANESSA All set. ANGLE ON: A POSTER on Vanessa’s door for the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena. BARRY So they have a huge parade of just flowers every year in Pasadena? VANESSA Oh, to be in the Tournament of Roses, that’s every florist’s dream. Up on a float, surrounded by flowers, crowds cheering. BARRY Wow, a tournament. Do the roses actually compete in athletic events? VANESSA No. Alright, I’ve got one. How come you don’t fly everywhere? BARRY It’s exhausting. Why don’t you run everywhere? VANESSA Hmmm. He sees Hector, the stock boy, with a knife CUTTING open cardboard boxes filled with honey jars. MAN You almost done? HECTOR Almost. Barry steps in some honey, making a SNAPPING noise. Hector stops and turns. HECTOR (CONT’D) He is here. I sense it. Hector grabs his BOX CUTTER. Barry REACTS, hides himself behind the box again. HECTOR (CONT’D) (talking too loud, to no one in particular) Well, I guess I’ll go home now, and just leave this nice honey out, with no one around. A BEAT. Hector pretends to exit. He takes a couple of steps in place. ANGLE ON: The honey jar. Barry steps out into a moody spotlight. BARRY You’re busted, box boy! HECTOR Ah ha! I knew I heard something. So, you can talk. Barry flies up, stinger out, pushing Hector up against the wall. As Hector backs up, he drops his knife. BARRY Oh, I can talk. And now you’re going to start talking. It comes from Honey Farms. ANGLE ON: A Honey Farms truck leaving the parking lot. Barry turns, takes off after the truck through an alley. He follows the truck out onto a busy street, dodging a bus, and several cabs. CABBIE Crazy person! He flies through a metal pipe on the top of a truck. BARRY OOOHHH! "Bee Movie" - JS REVISIONS 8/13/07 55. BARRY (CONT'D) Barry grabs onto a bicycle messenger’s backpack. The honey farms truck starts to pull away. Barry uses the bungee cord to slingshot himself towards the truck. He lands on the windshield, where the wind plasters him to the glass. He looks up to find himself surrounded by what appear to be DEAD BUGS. He climbs across, working his way around the bodies. BARRY (CONT’D) Oh my. What horrible thing has happened here? Look at these faces. They never knew what hit them. And now they’re on the road to nowhere. A MOSQUITO opens his eyes. MOOSEBLOOD Pssst! Just keep still. BARRY What? You’re not dead? MOOSEBLOOD Do I look dead? Hey man, they will wipe anything that moves. Now, where are you headed? BARRY To Honey Farms. I am onto something huge here. MOOSEBLOOD I’m going to Alaska. Moose blood. Crazy stuff. Blows your head off. LADYBUG I’m going to Tacoma. BARRY (to fly) What about you? MOOSEBLOOD He really is dead. BARRY Alright. The WIPER comes towards them. Barry slides toward the end of the wiper, is thrown off, but he grabs the AERIAL and hangs on for dear life. Barry looks across and sees a CRICKET on another vehicle in the exact same predicament. They look at each other and SCREAM in unison. BARRY AND CRICKET Aaaaaaaaaah! ANOTHER BUG grabs onto the aerial, and screams as well. INT. TRUCK CAB - SAME TIME DRIVER You hear something? TRUCKER PASSENGER Like what? DRIVER Like tiny screaming. TRUCKER PASSENGER Turn off the radio. The driver reaches down and PRESSES a button, lowering the aerial. EXT. TRUCK WINDSHIELD - SAME TIME Barry and the other bug do a “choose up” to the bottom, Barry wins. BARRY Aha! Then he finally has to let go and gets thrown into the truck horn atop cab. Mooseblood is inside. MOOSEBLOOD Hey, what’s up bee boy? BARRY Hey, Blood! DISSOLVE TO: "Bee Movie" - JS REVISIONS 8/13/07 58. INT. TRUCK HORN - LATER BARRY ...and it was just an endless row of honey jars as far as the eye could see. MOOSEBLOOD Wow. BARRY So I’m just assuming wherever this honey truck goes, that’s where they’re getting it. I mean, that honey’s ours! MOOSEBLOOD Bees hang tight. BARRY Well, we’re all jammed in there. It’s a close community. MOOSEBLOOD Not us, man. We’re on our own. Every mosquito is on his own. BARRY But what if you get in trouble? MOOSEBLOOD Trouble? You're a mosquito. You're in trouble! APIARY - LATER Barry sees a SIGN, “Honey Farms” The truck comes to a stop. SFX: The Honey farms truck blares its horn. Barry flies out, lands on the hood. ANGLE ON: Two BEEKEEPERS, FREDDY and ELMO, walking around to the back of the gift shop. Barry follows them, and lands in a nearby tree FREDDY ...then we throw it in some jars, slap a label on it, and it’s pretty much pure profit. BARRY What is this place? ELMO Bees got a brain the size of a pinhead. FREDDY They are pinheads. The both LAUGH. ANGLE ON: Barry REACTING. They arrive at the back of the shop where one of them opens a SMOKER BOX. FREDDY (CONT’D) Hey, check out the new smoker. "Bee Movie" - JS REVISIONS 8/13/07 60. ELMO Oh, Sweet. That’s the one you want. FREDDY The Thomas 3000. BARRY Smoker? FREDDY 90 puffs a minute, semi-automatic. Twice the nicotine, all the tar. They LAUGH again, nefariously. FREDDY (CONT’D) Couple of breaths of this, and it knocks them right out. They make the honey, and we make the money. BARRY “They make the honey, and we make the money?” Barry climbs onto the netting of Freddy’s hat. He climbs up to the brim and looks over the edge. He sees the apiary boxes as Freddy SMOKES them. BARRY (CONT'D) Oh my. As Freddy turns around, Barry jumps into an open apiary box, and into an apartment. HOWARD and FRAN are just coming to from the smoking. BARRY (CONT’D) What’s going on? Are you okay? HOWARD Yeah, it doesn’t last too long. HE COUGHS a few times. BARRY How did you two get here? ANGLE ON: The jury, all with paper boats of their own. JURORS Ooh. ANGLE ON: Montgomery frustrated with Gammil, who’s making a boat also. Monty crumples Gammil’s boat, and throws it at him. JUDGE Mr. Flayman? ADAM Yes? Yes, Your Honor? JUDGE Where is the rest of your team? ADAM (fumbling with his swordstinger) Well, your honor, it’s interesting. You know Bees are trained to fly kind of haphazardly and as a result quite often we don’t make very good time. They have presented no compelling evidence to support their charges against my clients who have all run perfectly legitimate businesses. I move for a complete dismissal of this entire case. JUDGE The court finds in favor of the bees. The chaos continues. Barry flies over to Vanessa, with his hand up for a “high 5”. BARRY Vanessa, we won! VANESSA Yay! I knew you could do it. Highfive! She high 5’s Barry, sending him crashing to the table. He bounces right back up. VANESSA (CONT'D) Oh, sorry. BARRY Ow!! I’m okay. Vanessa, do you know what this means? All the honey is finally going to belong to the bees. Now we won’t have to work so hard all the time. Montgomery approaches Barry, surrounded by the press. CUT TO: EXT. YELLOWSTONE FOREST - MONTAGE POV of a sniper’s crosshairs. An animated BEAR character looka-like, turns his head towards camera. BARRY Wait for my signal. ANGLE ON: Barry lowering his binoculars. BARRY (CONT'D) Take him out. The sniper SHOOTS the bear. It hits him in the shoulder. The bear looks at it. BARRY (V.O) (CONT'D) ATF&H AGENT (to the bear’s pig friend) He’ll have a little nausea for a few hours, then he’ll be fine. CUT TO: EXT. STING’S HOUSE - MONTAGE ATF&H agents SLAP CUFFS on Sting, who is meditating. STING But it’s just a prance-about stage name! CUT TO: INT. A WOMAN’S SHOWER - MONTAGE A WOMAN is taking a shower, and using honey shampoo. An ATF&H agent pulls the shower curtain aside, and grabs her bottle of shampoo. The woman SCREAMS. The agent turns to the 3 other agents, and Barry. ANGLE ON: Barry looking at the label on the shampoo bottle, shaking his head and writing in his clipboard. CUT TO: EXT. SUPERMARKET CAFE - MONTAGE Another customer, an old lady having her tea with a little jar of honey, gets her face pushed down onto the table and turned to the side by two agents. HONEX - MONTAGE ANGLE ON: The honey goes past the 3-cup hash-mark, and begins to overflow. A WORKER BEE runs up to Buzzwell. WORKER BEE 1 Mr. Buzzwell, we just passed 3 cups, and there’s gallons mores coming. I think we need to shutdown. KEYCHAIN BEE (to Buzzwell) Shutdown? We’ve never shutdown. ANGLE ON: Buzzwell overlooking the factory floor. BUZZWELL Shutdown honey production! Stop making honey! ANGLE ON: TWO BEES, each with a KEY. BUZZWELL (CONT’D) Turn your key, Sir! They turn the keys simultaneously, War Games-style, shutting down the honey machines. ANGLE ON: the Taffy-Pull machine, Centrifuge, and Krelman all slowly come to a stop. Barry. The co-pilot faces camera, as the pilot tries to suck Barry up. Barry is on the other side of the co-pilot. As they dosey-do, the toupee of the co-pilot begins to come up, still attached to the front. CO-PILOT (CONT'D) What are you doing? Stop! The toupee comes off the co-pilot’s head, and sticks in the Dustbuster. Barry runs across the bald head. BARRY Wait a minute! I’m an attorney! CO-PILOT Who’s an attorney? PILOT Don’t move. The pilot uses the Dustbuster to try and mash Barry, who is hovering in front of the co-pilot’s nose, and knocks out the co-pilot who falls out of his chair, hitting the life raft release button. The life raft inflates, hitting the pilot, knocking him into a wall and out cold. Barry surveys the situation. BARRY Oh, Barry. CUT TO: INT. Blood pools against the her neck, burying her complexion in red. Nancy tries to feel for a pulse, but all she feels is the blood on her fingers. A scream works its way from the back of her throat to her teeth. “Wake up! Wake up! Fuck.”

i dont know if this, like, super counts as dialogue, but i really loved this part of two of a crime. and the following line after nancy flips out ( Nancy stumbles back into the warehouse, leaving the door open, and collapses in the room with Robin. She tries to stop the bleeding. Holds her hands against the girl’s neck. It’s not too deep, you’ll be okay , she tries to tell her, but she can’t get the words out. We’ll be okay. We made it, kid . ). nancy is so fucking smart and capable and incredible in action and that is beautiful to see! however. thinking about how she'd lost barb and quickly grown close to robin (which i called in this fic! js. i just knew they'd bond really quickly even if they did start as annoyances), watching her lose so much blood and shit i thought would of course get an insane reaction. like. she'd maybe really snap and break down. hence the ending. i think it's probably the most angsty thing i've ever written, and even if it's not all that bad, i'm really proud of it.

as an alternative i just. i love confident will! i wanted this to be as true to the characters as i could fathom while also being. perhaps mildly corny due to the holiday feel. i was really happy with this and tying the 'crazy together' moment back into it.

it sorta depends! i mostly write from start to finish, unless i have a specific moment/piece of dialogue that i know for sure i want later on. then it's a little easier to build around that and i sometimes find myself writing a far better build-up than there would've been otherwise, probably. i really admire writers that have plot points and stuff super planned out in advance, but i tend to just have a vague idea of what i want and feel it out as i go.

H: How would you describe your style?

god i really don't know. i'd love to hear how it's perceived lol. i am very... i tend to be comedic i think? i'm not afraid to be sarcastic/play with irony in my narration, to the point that i sometimes worry it won't come across well. i am also very dialogue-driven, which is something i want to work on. i literally like act out what the characters say sometimes to see if it feels realistic, and because of that i also probably overuse dialogue tags and little movements in between (almost like a script instead of 'prose' or whatever). i'm sort of fast-paced as well i think? idk i've very aware of pacing. like i'm rather quippy with my transitions and stuff because it just makes sense to me. i worry it's lazy sometimes but hey it works

S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist?

waugh i don't know!! idk if i fall into tropes very often??? i've definitely like slipped in 'sharing a bed' quite a bit throughout the years, but i think that's as close as i get. honestly maybe i need to be more tropey.

hmm i think it goes without saying when people really change a character's personality to fall into a clean-cut dynamic (esp when it involves....... making one character way more submissive yk.) i cant think of any classic tropes that i specifically hate

so i'm coming to terms with the fact that i probably have fibromyalgia after being told after a depression diagnosis that all my pain was psychosomatic and it feels VERY good. i'm letting myself rest when i need to, asking for accommodations at work, and doing more physical activities despite the pain it causes and i can tell that my body feels cared for. this js out of the blue so i'm sorry but it felt like the kind of thing you might want to hear!

im so proud of you and so happy to hear youre getting the accommodations and support you need after having your pain denied like that for so long, you dont have to apologize i love hearing good news like this and im really happy for you!! your body deserves to be cared for and im glad you feel like that youre being cared for like that finally. i hope things are going to continue to go well for you and that youll be able to feel comfortable and happy!!

Also I'm one of those guys who gets annoyed at people misgendering butches now. Like personally I don't care about pronouns cuz it's honestly vindicating for someone to recognize me as gnc at this point in my life, but I also don't actually identify as "a butch," I consider myself "some masculine leaning schmuck." But I'm js all the self identified butches I know are very much proud to be gender non conforming as women and like. It's kind of important to recognize that u can be a woman and use she while looking this way and doing these things. Obviously there are older people who are nonbinary as well (honored comrade Leslie feinberg comes to mind) but it is more common that u will meet a butch woman in her 50s or so just cuz of how the culture and lgbt and feminist communities were oriented when they came of age and stuff. All this to say stop calling butches "they" unless you've been asked to lol

Dawn of the final week.

I've been a part of the flatiron school fullstack software engineering program since early february. It's hard to believe how far I've come, from barely knowing how to program a calculator that works in the console with python to writing fullstack applications in react and rails with full crud functionality and front to backend communication.

As I work on my final project, I'd like to reminisce on the program as a whole and give my thoughts on each phase.

Phase 1, we were learning vanilla javascript and would simulate a backend with JSON server. This phase was me putting my feet in the water and learning what I would have to later in the program. This was the only phase I had to retake the coding challenge, and at the time it was almost overwhelming. The constant cycle of learn, code, learn, code, was very new to me. I passed the retake of the code challenge and completed my first project. This phase was probably the second hardest, because I was acclimating to the program and needed time to get used to the fast and constant pace of it.

Phase 2, we had finished with vanilla JS and immediately threw ourselves headfirst into react JS. Although it was just as fast paced as phase 1, I found that react was a lot easier to grasp than vanilla JS because of how much more efficient and organized it was. The second code challenge was by far the easiest, I had felt unstoppable. My project had been developed with no major hitches, in my head I had crushed react and would continue to crush the rest of the program. Little did I knew i was due for a humbling in phase 3.

Phase 3 had us switch gears completely. We were no longer working on the frontend, we were learning Ruby, SQL, and Sinatra. Pivoting from the now familiar land of javascript and frontend to the completely new backend world with new languages was the hardest transition by far. Up until the code challenge I had to continue studying. I remember the panic attacks from the stress I was putting myself under. I was worried I wouldn't do well on the code challenge and that I would waste the money I spent getting into the program. Literally the night before the code challenge, something clicked in my head. It all started to make sense and I ended up doing great on the code challenge. The project went well too, I got even more experience with the way the backend and the frontend communicate. I worked on the backend as much as I could on that project because I knew how much it would help me in phase 4.

Phase 4, we piggy-backed off of sinatra into Rails. As far as the learning and code challenge went, This was a close #2 for the easiest of the phases. Rails just makes a backend so simple yet it is so robust, I don't feel like I am trading simplicity with configuration control at all with it, sort of a best of both worlds relationship with Rails. As I said, this phase would have been the easiest if not for, the project. During this project I ended up having to do a lot of troubleshooting between the front and backend. While it was stressful at the time, it was a great learning experience. All of that troubleshooting helped tremendously in phase 5.

Phase 5 is just 3 weeks of project basically. Working on my first project completely on my own has been an absolute treat. I feel like all the stress I've been through has well prepared me for this. I've been experimenting with new things in this project, and I feel comfortable enough with the frontend and the backend to do so confidently. My troubleshooting skills have gotten much better now, I'm not scared to write code anymore. I am still working on my final project but I am super proud of what I've done. I've gone from a man who couldn't do more than basic math and console logs to a man that I feel would be a genuine asset to a team.

As I complete my final project I have been looking forward to the opportunities I've worked to get. I can't wait to see my hard work pay off and I'll be sure to keep yall in the loop!

So my BF is a surgeon n he's advancing well in his career n I'm very happy n proud of him. Sadly ths has made me feel insecure abt myself. I'm few years younger n I didn study anythn grand. I just feel less competent than him. I dnt want people 2 look @ us n be like "oh, she's Nicks wife" js be referred to as tht .. cause Im normal girl n I'm still looking for a job. I jst feel horrible. Dnt get me wrong, I'm so happy 4 him, bt it makes me wonder if he thinks I'm not enough for him in that sense

Don’t think of what people will say. They will talk no matter what you do or say. If he hasn’t said anything to you then you’re just worrying for ni reason. In fact you have no reason to worry. He’s with YOU for you and if it bugged him then he would surely say something right? Overthinking will ruin and make things seem horrible when they’re so good right now. Just focus on yourself and your relationship with hin rather than insecurities. You can overcome it. Your career will fall into place just keep working hard 😘❤
