Blind Justice #1 by Fantagraphics. This is written by Josh Bayer and art by Rick Butler Jr. and Al Milgrom. I took a chance on this comic because I personally never heard of this publisher and it didn't look like my type of comic. But I am glad I did. I love this book. The art is great and colorful and the writing is great. This reminds me of the older comic hero who was simpler and just wanted to take down the bad guys. No time travel, no multiverse gimmick, no team of different abilities, just one guy against the world of crime. "I am no one. I come from nowhere -- and disappear into nothing." I was first introduced to Raymond by @victorgastelumthreedots at a backyard party in LA celebrating Victor’s Lucha Libre stencil art series. I think there was even a wrestling ring with Luchadors. Raymond was super nice to me even after finding out I had played in a band with his brother Greg for several years. They were already not speaking to each other. I few years later I heard the Getty had already started collecting his work. I had always been as much a fan of his writing and commentary on his pieces as the artwork itself. They are so intertwined. I have been looking for a copy of Homo Americanus since it was released in 2016. Somehow it just didn’t feel right ordering it online. Scored it today in a fine art bookstore in New Orleans.
