What a show. One part Moebius and Geoff Darrow comics. One part Annihilation and Alien. And a big ol' dash of Studio Ghibli -- especially Nausicaa and Castle In the Sky-- and Akira thrown in for good measure. Hope to see more from these creators, whether it's a second season or new project. On Netflix.

If you're looking for another adult animated series to watch this season, I highly recommend Common Side Effects!

The series partially comes from Joseph Bennett, the same person who created Scavengers Reign!

I know that some people aren't a fan of how ugly western adult animated TV is today. And this series really does have that classic, slightly hyper realistic ugly aesthetic thing going on that's prominent in a lot of Adult Swim shows. However, I think the art style really does add to the tone of the show. It's steeped in realism, and

The series is essentially about the discovery of a new species of mushroom that has the potential to heal any human illness. The guy who discovered it is on the run from the US Government and people hired by multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical companies to catch him.

If you're interested, the series is available legally through HBO Max in the United States.
