Chapter Excerpt: “You said you were celebrating. Tenses are very important to me.”

“Oh,” Jordan says, and shifts a little on her stool. Emily’s expression is curious, not at all judgmental, and she has, after all, also been sitting alone at this bar for well over an hour now. But Jordan doesn’t feel quite ready to admit to being the loser left alone at the end of her own celebration drinks. “Well, right now I’m playing wingman for the red dress draped over the piano.”

Emily looks appraisingly in the direction of the piano. Jordan feels a brief, embarrassing flash of regret at having drawn her attention to her hot friend, but Emily is unaffected. “She looks like she’s doing fine without a wingman,” she observes. “You could probably take your eyes off her for a few minutes, if you wanted to. I don’t see why she should be the only one having a good time.”

“Are you offering to be my wingman?”

“No,” Emily laughs. “I’m offering to show you a good time.”

Ok I’m gonna answer this one first because I could write, like, an entire amicus brief on your other ask!

I love them. I love them so much. There is nothing heterosexual about them. From the moment Jordan walks into the BAU with JJ, Emily is smitten. You can SEE the gay in her eyes when she first shakes Jordan’s hand. And then they flirt LIKE THAT in the WORKPLACE??? Emily stands up for Jordan with Hotch (bc she knows from personal experience about how he doesn’t trust women as much as men), and for a moment, Jordan doesn’t have to be tough and strong and guarded, because she’s FINALLY got another woman on her side. Someone who just GETS IT. And like, the connection between the two women who travel with the team and go out into the field is always going to be a special one, whether it’s JJ and Elle, Emily and JJ, Alex and JJ, etc. But there’s an extra layer to Jormily that makes it absolutely delicious, and that’s JJ’s pregnancy and Emily’s conflicted feelings about it. Because like, it’s blatantly obvious that at this point in the show, Emily’s feelings for JJ aren’t entirely platonic, and JJ’s feelings for Emily probably aren’t, either. Maybe if they’d both just gone for it, something could have blossomed between them, but now JJ’s pregnant with Will’s child, and she’s decided to make her life with him, and Emily has to reconcile her complicated feelings about that and about what might have been. And right when Emily’s coming to terms that the window for her and JJ—if there ever was one—has closed, in walks JORDAN TODD, and she’s pretty, and she’s single, and she flirts with Emily, and even if it’s only temporary, it feels pretty damn good.

There definitely was something between Elle and JJ, I’m right there with you on that one. As for jormily, those two fucked. Like there is no way they didn’t fuck around with each other. The sexual tension was too strong for it to be casual friendship.
