That Would Be Nastya! By A Significant Proportion.
Thank Goodness She Mostly Sticks To The Innermost Workings Of The Aurora And Yells At Us If We Ever Attempt To Leave The O'Neill Ring (Except To Go Planetside, Which I'm Fairly Certain She Likes Us Leaving The Best). I Am Quite Thankful For The Aurora In That Regard, Because It Would Be Awfully Dreadful For Nastya To Be Left Without A Good Pretending Toy Just Because She Finds Me Distasteful.

Jonny Herbert designed this white chiffon gown with large colorful circles in the 1960s. One of them was purchased by Janie Bryant for use on January Jones as Betty Draper in the 2008 second season of Mad Men, in the episode entitled A Night to Remember. The dress was dubbed by Bryant as Betty’s “Sad Clown Dress.”
The dress seems to have gone on to live another life in the 2023 series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, where it was worn by an extra in the episode Or at the High School Dance…The dress is the same one worn by January Jones, as the colors and placement of the dots line up exactly.
A version of this dress was sold on Etsy, and the listing offers more details about the design and materials.

Upriver, Downriver is now available!
So, a while back we ran a Kickstarter for a tarot-infused magical river game called Upriver, Downriver, and we’re pleased to announce it’s now available for general purchase through our website!
Upriver, Downriver is a queer fantasy tabletop roleplaying game about sailing along a magical river, and persisting on an impossible journey. Inspired by the Tarot, it was written by our dear friend Ella Watts, with development and editing by Sasha and layout (and river design) by Jonny. It also has some fantastic art by Max Degan and Cael Lyons.
Together, you and your crew will swear a magical oath to reach either the Source of the Great River or the Sea. No one has ever come back from either destination, and each has their own challenges and rewards. But, whatever bends your journey takes, once you’ve sworn your Oath, your soul is committed to continue on towards your goal. Even in death, your ghost will be bound to your Oath and your ship, compelled to complete your voyage.
During your travels, you'll visit enchanting, enigmatic and hostile locations along the River. Each location is tied to one of the major arcana, and is home to its own unique characters and challenges. Your trials and triumphs are determined by dice and tarot cards. What you do with the hand that fate and the River deals is up to you.
It’s a beautiful game, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how it came out, so check it out at our webstore!

How I've missed you
Wait for me.
He said, mounting his horse and tipping his hat goodbye.
I’ll be back.
He said as he rode towards sunset. Until he was nothing more than a speck in the distance.
You’ll wait for him, but the question is how long? A month? A year? A decade? D was, after all, immortal, absolute. The time for him flows differently for you. One human lifespan is nothing but a blink of an eye for him.
You’ve never stayed in one place this long. You’re a nomad, drifting from one corner of Frontier to another. It made your feet twitch, aching to be on the road once more. But you couldn’t. How else he’ll find you? If he’d even look for you. You shook your head to shake off that thought. You can’t let them slink their way into your heart. D would never abandon you, ha made a promise and he keeps his promises.
Your deprecating musing was interrupted when you reached the door from your caravan. You ran your fingers over the cracked paint before reaching for the doorknob. A small, but cozy interior of your lodgings greeted you. Old, patterned scarf pinned over one wall, a small tin stove, a bunk in the far end, candles, and colorful trinkets hanging everywhere. It wasn’t much but you loved this place. The wheels attached to your home gave you the feeling that you can leave wherever you can and whenever you want.
You settled a bag with a piece of bread and cheese you’d managed to purchase for that little coin you had. When you heard squeaking followed by scratching of small claws over the worn wooden floor. Slicing off a bit of cheese, you crooned at the small thing creeping its way toward you.
You found Lettie when They were digging through your garbage in the middle of the night. You started leaving them with leftovers. One day you came home and found them lying at the foot of your bed, waiting for you. You have a pet now, you guess… Even though you have no idea what Lettie is, or even its gender. Just another creation of genetic tinkering done by Nobles.
“He’s gonna love you, I’m sure.” You told the creature as you ran your fingers over the sleek fur. It doesn’t respond, of course, but no matter. Just like with D, you don’t always need him to add to your conversations. You can do all the talking by yourself.
Slipping your hands under Lettie’s belly, you lifted them and carried them to your bunk. You flopped onto the bed and held Lettie close to your chest, before lifting them above your head. The animal's glossy eyes stared dispassionately at you.
“Look at you, getting all mopey.” Your voice took a high-pitched quality to resemble Lettie’s squeaks and, as you enunciate the words, you bounce the creature as if it’s talking to you.
“What do you know! I’m allowed to miss him every once in a while!”
“What would D say if he knew you were so anxious for his return?”
“Hush, I know he comes back.” You settled Lettie back on your chest, the animal was finally allowed to rest.
After a beat of silence, you whispered, “He always came back.”
You were woken up by a loud banging on the caravan’s door. You slogged towards the door whilst trying to blink away the blurriness in your vision. A distressed face of one of the villagers greeted you. It was the old man Johnson, he owned a farm on the outskirts of the town.
“Thank Krist! I thought you were never gonna answer!” The man spitted at you, face ruddy and eyes bulging.
“It better be good Jonny.” You grumbled passively at him.
“Harpies!” The man choked out. “A whole swarm of them!! They’re tearing apart my stock. I was…ah…
The farmer didn’t get the chance to finish the sentence as you walked out of the door with a golden blade in your hand. Johnson stumbled after you, eyes trained on the blade. Where in the seven hell did gypsy like you get their hands on such a weapon?? It was engraved with strange symbols with the dragon's head at the base of the blade, blood-red ruby eyes piercing into him.
You arrived at the ranch at the exact moment when one harpy clutched a frightened sheep in its claws. Just as the night perpetrator lifts the poor animal into the sky, a soft swoosh of a blade sings through the air. The harpy falls down with a blood-curdling screech, which alerts other harpies. They leave the flock and train their beady eyes on you. With a steadying exhale, you readjust your stance and point the sword in their direction, the golden blade gleaming in the moonlight.
The harpies all dive onto you in unison. However, their talons only grab air as you propel yourself upwards, your upper body twisting clockwise to reach as far as possible with your sword. Some harpies dodge, others drop on grass like swatted flies. Johnson was so taken by the sight in front of him that he hadn’t realized he remained alone on the pasture. Nor did he notice a dark figure approaching him slowly but steadily, broad shoulders draped in a dark cloak casting a long shadow over him.
You were running out of stamina and you knew it. Your movements were slower, your senses grew more sluggish. You cried out in pain as one of Harpie’s talons dug into your shoulder whilst the other aimed for your neck. Luckily, you managed to lodge the blade between the two of you. A bead of sweat ran down your neck as you felt the strength leaving your arms, beasts maw moving closer and closer to you.
The beast has never learned your taste, for its head has been severed from its body before it could notice. Same for the other harpy, which finally made the imminent danger disappear, at least for today. You grunted as the sharp claws slipped out of the fresh wound and swayed on your legs dangerously. It took you several minutes of labored breathing and cursing before you registered the presence of another in front of you.
When you looked up, you almost fell down on your knees for good. There, illuminated by the moon, was D. Serene and unmoving as ever. Spine straight while his sword rested in his relaxed grip, still stained with harpies blood. You stared at him for a good minute or two, before wobbly walking towards him. That walk became, a somewhat sloppy run, and with the remaining strength, you propelled yourself forward and jumped into the hunter's arms. D simply extended his arms towards you, knowing better than to try and fight your theatrics. The impact from your bodies colliding made an ‘ooff’ puff out of your throat, but you haven’t released your clutch on him. After a moment of silence, you spent feverishly clutching onto him with fingers tangled in his hair, you untangle yourself from him far enough to be able to look at his face. You immediately took it into your hands and started examining the dhampir closely, making sure there wasn’t a single scratch on him.
Once you were satisfied with the results the dhampir was left open to your affections. You kissed his cheeks, his nose, his eyelids. Inch by inch you peppered his face with kisses while he held you hugged tightly to him. D’s lips twisted as he tried to fight a smile tugging at his mouth. He couldn’t fight the quiet giggle that slipped from them.
And the farmer could only stand there and gape in awe. Out of all the things he saw tonight, A dhampir being smothered with affection with the softest of smiles would be the most unbelievable of them all.

Fictive Call!
I've debated doing this for a while; motivated by the results of the 2024 election, I've finally decided to give it a try. Even though my system mates who have tried had no luck. Am Enjorlas "based" off the 2013 West end Cast! Les Amis de l'ABC are as fallows:
Marius: Rob Houchen
Grantaire: Adam Linstead
Combeferre: Jonny Purchase
Courfeyrac: Rhidian Marc
Feuilly: Oliver Savile
Joly: Dougie Carter
Lesgles: James Gant
Prouvaire: Leo Roberts
Me: Anton Zetterholm
Gavroche: Ilan Galkoff
Am more than willing to talk with anyone, even if not from "my" universe. The body is 33 as of 2024, female but prefers to be referred to as male, & has learning & physical disabilities. As with the rest of the Les Amis, we were reincarnated again in all female bodies & were on a soccer team, with a lot of "Phantom of the Opera" people in the same situation, & we all perished when on the way home from a game our busses fell off a cliff due to an accident.
"based" off this video
youtube
Erik is in the system as well & we're still together. If you choose contact, please don't fall off the face of the earth...we're online every day & would like a friendship that can accommodate that!

Jonny's Fender Acoustic
This photo of Jonny playing a Fender dreadnought acoustic was taken by his son Tamir.
To help publicize their upcoming Steve Reich Festival, The Hallé recently shared this photo of Jonny playing a Fender dreadnought acoustic guitar. Jonny will be playing Reich's Electric Counterpoint on the third (and final) day of the festival.
Back in November 2012, Jonny answered fan and celebrity questions in an article for Uncut magazine. Nicolas Gauna from Buenos Aires asked Jonny about his first guitar and the first song he learned, and this was Jonny's reply:
I bought a Fender acoustic for £40 from a “for sale” column in the Oxford Journal when l was about 14, then an electric one from my teacher when l was 16. I still have the acoustic, but the electric one was stolen in Leeds on the first Radiohead tour (at the Duchess Of York, I think… it was a cream Telecaster if anyone's seen it). I don't remember working out many songs by other bands - maybe “Psycho Killer" by Talking Heads. There was a tiny guitar room at school where teenagers hung out playing each other U2 songs - but I never had any U2 records.
Given Jonny's penchant for stickers during his younger days, one can only assume that this is the same guitar that he played when he first strummed his way through Psycho Killer.
Based on the quote, the guitar was purchased in around ~1985, and was already used by that point. Fender had released their California series acoustics in 1983, but they were still relatively new and expensive. So it's more likely that the guitar is from Fender's standard F-series. Price lists show that the F-series was available from Fender through the 70s and 80s. The headstock confirms this: California series guitars have a Stratocaster-style headstock, whereas Jonny's has a more traditional acoustic headstock with the distinctive F-series notch in the center. In addition, we can see a square "Fender" label through the soundhole. A cursory glance through Fender F acoustics shows that the square label was used in the 70s and early-80s, particularly on Japanese-made instruments. They seem to have switched to a round label in the late-80s. This gives further evidence that the guitar in the picture really is Jonny's original acoustic.
Fender's acoustic and classical guitar offerings in April, 1977 (guitar-compare.com). Given the price Jonny paid for a used instrument, it seems very possible that he bought a 1970s F-35 model. The more expensive models like the F-65 had fancier inlays and details, whereas the one in the photo has simple dot inlays on the fingerboard.

For “Tom and Jerry: Spy Quest” 2015, I animated bits of Tom and Jerry animation which were combined with the famous original “Jonny Quest” opening. In order to match its style of “comic book” inks I inked the new animation drawings with a brush (after a trip to Carter-Sexton to purchase the needed art supplies). We were lucky to get Tim Matheson (the original voice of Jonny) to provide the voice of the president.

Picked up some summer reading today, yay! I originally only went in for Family Business because I am a huge fan of Jonny’s first novel and they finally had this one in stock. Unfortunately for me, House of Leaves has been on my TBR for ages and it made eye contact with me. So what was supposed to be a $20 purchase became a $50 one. Worth it! And my mom is interested in both novels so they’ll get passed over to her when I’m done. Can’t wait to see what they both have in store for me!

The yarn I purchased for the Drumbot doll came in the other day. It is the only one from that brand, the rest of the skin and hair tones are going to be from a different brand. I don’t have everything I need yet to make even just Brian; I need some felt to create the shape to embroider over for the eyes. I have felt, but my goal is to make these dolls from 100% natural fibers, so I need to order some wool felt. Luckily I know a place I’ve been interested in ordering from anyway, I only need one color because I’m going to be embroidering over it with the correct eye color, and I love embroidering on felt so I know I’ll use the rest for something else; it just feels weird to purchase 100% wool felt for such a small bit. The yarn for Brian is 70% bamboo, 30% cotton and very soft. I am excited to use it and am already thinking I’ll get more from this brand for other projects. It’s fingering weight, which is my favorite weight, and I’m going to hold it double for the dolls. I’ll probably talk more about it once I’ve actually used it.
I just need to get the felt and some cotton balls and I can at least make Brian’s body. The internet told me that cotton balls are mostly synthetic, but my local pharmacy’s store brand says they are 100% organic cotton. I’m not concerned about having to wash the dolls, but I did find an informative trio of blog posts on natural fiber stuffing. Not gonna end up using that info for this, but still good to know I suppose. I’ll pull the cotton balls apart before stuffing them in the dolls. Hopefully I won’t hate the texture too much. Hopefully it’ll be fine in the dolls.
I plan to use crochet cotton thread and perle cotton for the clothing, because the thinner fabric will reduce the bulk, for example, under the arms, meaning they won’t stick straight out like they do on my tester doll. I have also decided to switch the pattern I’m going to use. There was nothing wrong with the previous one, I just think the new one will be easier for me to adjust to create different body types.
I am planning on making an Aurora of the same size as the Mechs, because I think that will be really cute, and I will probably end up making Carmilla as well, although those two are planned to be last. I am not currently planning to make Scuzz, but I can always add them later if I so desire.
I am planning on making little compartments with a heart and lungs for Jonny and Ashes, but I’m not sure how complex I want to get with that and therefore, who, if anyone else, would also get that for their mechanisms. I need to get wire. The pattern uses pipe cleaners but that fur is definitely synthetic, floral wire would be an option but I think that’s wrapped in plastic…. Wire will likely be used in the skeleton of Raph’s wings as well.
The natural fibers is personal preference on my part. I typically prefer the feeling of natural fibers when working with them and I obviously like the biodegradable aspect. Synthetic fibers have their place and I do use them as well, this is just, sort of, an extra challenge I’m imposing on myself. And there’s so much planning going into the dolls anyway, these materials will cost more, but I know I’ll also like the dolls better if they are made from natural fibers.
I’m very excited to start these boys (gender neutral) but I currently do not have the funds for all the supplies and also have a million other projects I need to finish.
Sorry for the long post. IDK if anyone is even going to care about this, but I wanted to update and this was my second attempt and it still came out very long and there was something else I think I forgot? Maybe that I had considered doing secondary outfits for the dolls of the characters they play, but we don’t get descriptions of those so it’d be a bit difficult and definitely a separate, secondary project, but while writing this I had the idea of making Jessica’s angel outfit for TS she wore before the Toy Soldier’s costume. TS is getting “wood” colored skin though, and IDK what I’m gonna do for its hair, but it’d still be very cute!

Something Just Like This — VoicePlay music video
youtube
VoicePlay are known for making cool videos to go with their incredible music, and this one is no exception. Between the dynamic vocal arrangement and the creative lighting design, it's a treat for both the eyes and the ears. It's no wonder that both J.None and Geoff still mention it as one of their favorite songs they've recorded together so many years later.
Details:
title: Something Just Like This (feat. J.None)
original performers: The Chainsmokers & Coldplay
written by: Andrew Taggart, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion, & Chris Martin
arranged by: Layne Stein & Hannah Juliano
release date: 25 May 2017
My favorite bits:
Earl joining in the rhythm section with those high legato notes
J's smooth, contemplative tone through the first verse
the gradual layering of harmony & percussion parts
the crunchy harmony line from Earl, J, & Eli toward end of the choruses
Geoff's bouncier bass line at the beginning of the second verse
passing the lead around, and the way the backing vocals change accordingly to maintain a full sound
giving the line that namechecks Superman to superfan Earl
the descending bell chord being matched by the quick lighting changes
Layne's increasingly complex percussion under those ocataves in the bridge
J's big old belts and riffs in the final chorus
easing back to end the song gently
Trivia:
Like several of their videos around this time, this was flimed at the REBL HQ studio at Full Sail University.
The lighting effects are reminiscent of the stage backdrop for The Chainsmokers & Coldplay's performance of this song at the 2017 Brit Awards (though obviously on a much more reasonable scale).
Geoff joked that he looks ragged in this video because it was filmed just a week and a half after the birth of his son, so he hadn’t slept. (He looks as handsome as ever to me, but I don’t doubt that he was tired.)
The YouTube description contains a parody verse: "She said where'd you wanna go? / I've got a dirty dish. / And I'm looking for somebody / With a super human fish." It's followed by the additional musing, "Also I'm looking for someone who likes to play Monopoly. Does anyone even like that game? I always get stuck on baltic with no dignity or pants." (Silly, silly boys.)
Their recent collaborator Kurt Hugo Schneider had released his own cover of the song with Sam Tsui a couple months earlier.
This track was later included on VoicePlay's "Citrus" album, which compiled most of the songs they recorded from 2017-19. Because the individual songs had already been made available digitally, that album is exclusively a physical item that can only be purchased at live shows or through their website.

oh we're starting then are we? listen, I have been a Radiohead fan since 1993 - Pablo Honey was the first album I purchased with my own money. OK Computer and Kid A literally got me through college. I saw them live in person and cried to them IN the 90s. I have so much immense respect for their musicality. But...they are not pretty to me. If anything, Thom is easier on my eyes than Jonny.
Mike Patton on the other hand? Absofuckinglutely beautiful, gorgeous, pretty, hot, fine specimen of a human being for the entire span of his career. AND he makes amazing music.
and so the debate begins... looks like it's gonna be a fun week.

GAMBLING WINNINGS: Owing taxes is a sure bet
GAMBLING WINNINGS: Owing taxes is a sure bet
Jonny Xavier is a typical twenty-year-old dude who lives with his parents in Long Island, NY. Living at home provides him with the ability to save money so that one day he will be a homeowner. He is working full-time at the Amazon fulfillment center where he oversees picking and packaging orders before they are sent out for delivery across the island. Jonny also works for extra money on the weekends with Amazon Flex, which allows him to use his own car to make deliveries of Amazon packages. With consistent work ethic and diligence, there is little doubt that one day Jonny will have enough money saved to purchase a home and start a family of his own.
Life cannot be all work and no play. Jonny was an all-state football player in high school and still has a passion for sports. He missed the “high” of playing in big games; however, he has recently experienced a similar feeling when his buddies introduced him to online sports betting. DraftKings and FanDuel are the most prominent online sports books in New York. For Jonny, DraftKings is where he finds his best luck, even though the online forum has proven to be no different than a casino where the “house” always wins. Even so, the first time he tried online sports betting he had tremendously good fortune. If one can even imagine, Jonny placed a six- leg parlay on a Monday Night Football game between his favorite team the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. According to betting instructions, if the game has six scores between the two teams, and Jonny can pick the exact six players who will score in the game, he will hit on his parlay and win himself $250,000 on his $250 ante. Being the die-hard Giants fan that he is, Jonny predicts there will be six scores and that his team will have all of them. The bet is in, and Jonny has butterflies in his stomach before kick-off.
Three hours later Jonny and his friends are having one of the most exhilarating nights of their young lives. Unbelievably, he has clairvoyantly picked the exact players who combined on the six New York Giants scores. Specifically, there were five touchdowns and one field goal that made Jonny’s dreams come true and gave the Giants a 38-0 win over the Patriots. While his friends won on some smaller bets, Jonny pulled off a remarkable feat in completing his parlay, thus being the winner of $250,000. The payment was given to Jonny through a check disbursement from DraftKings in the amount of $190,000. There was an automatic federal tax withholding of 24% which equaled $60,000 in Federal Taxes. Jonny knows exactly what he will do with his winnings. Now he will be able to pay for a four-year degree from college and better his chances of earning potential over the course of his life. He has never been more certain that he will become a homeowner.
Being at the ripe age of twenty years old, Jonny has very little experience when it comes to filing his taxes. In January of the following year, he received his W-2 from the fulfillment center and was also sent a 1099 Form to submit as an independent contractor because of his work role with Amazon Flex. The year finished with a bang and Jonny had much to celebrate and look forward to in the new year to come. X’s and O’s come naturally to Jon Xavier; alternatively, when it comes to taxes, Jonny is somewhat naive and underestimating. From his perspective, he has already paid his taxes when they withheld 24% of his $250,000 winning check. He remembers the total amount he received was $190,000. Sixty thousand dollars were taken right off the top, but he paid his dues and finds no reason to list his gambling winnings on last year’s tax return. He had received a W-2G from DraftKings in the mail but thought nothing of it and threw it away. He used his W-2 from Amazon, along with the 1099 Form and submitted his taxes using Turbo Tax software.
When the Fourth of July came around that year Jonny was driving a brand-new Mercedes Benz, He could not resist the urge for a brand-new car, so he splurged on the $75,000 “Benz”. The rest of the money from his winnings was spent on a four-year degree from Stony Brook College on Long Island. Stony Brook offered Jonny a four-year degree for $80,000 if he paid up front. It was a discount of almost $40,000. Accordingly, Mr. & Mrs. Xavier recommended to their son that was a good deal and Jonny took the advice. He was on top of the world, driving around in his dream car while waiting to attend college in the fall. He surely was a lucky guy.
However, as they say, “All good things must come to an end.” Jonny was very troubled when he received a notice from the New York State Tax & Finance Department stating that he owed taxes in the amount of $27,500. He was in shock! How could this be? Jonny showed it to his parents immediately to make sense of this huge tax bill. Mr. Xavier took a closer look at the notice and realized it was from the unreported gambling winnings last year. The New York State Department of Tax & Finance received the same W-2G from DraftKings and cross-referenced that with Jonny Xavier’s tax return. They knew he did not pay taxes for the State of New York. Furthermore, New York has one of the highest gambling tax rates in the country at 10.9%. This was a huge problem for Jonny, and he worried what might happen to him now. Will they take his car?
Always looking out for the best interest of her son, Mrs. Xavier knew there was a place her family could go for legal advice on this matter. The Law Office of Ronald D. Weiss, P.C. has helped many people navigate the rough waters dealing with The New York State of Taxation & Finance. Jonny was able to tell his story during a free consultation with experienced staff and attorneys, who specialize in IRS taxes alongside New York State taxes. Upon leaving The Law Office of Ronald D. Weiss, P.C., Jonny felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He was very optimistic that for a very reasonable fee he could utilize the firm to find a resolution to this matter. Ultimately, The Law Office of Ronald D. Weiss, P.C. was able to negotiate with the NYS Department of Taxation and place Jonny into an Installment Agreement. Under the agreement, he will make affordable monthly payments until his tax bill is paid. Jonny is grateful for the team at Ronald Weiss and has learned two major lessons. First, he learned to report all income on his tax returns or there can be real consequences. Secondly, if he or any of his friends experience this type of issue in the future, they know that The Law Office of Ronald D. Weiss, P.C. will be diligent advocates for their clients and fight for the best possible resolution to their specific tax matters.
