Hi so I did a thing again.

It may have taken me over a year from start to finish, but I finally bound Safe by the lovely @themewsatten

Firefighter Johnny Saxby keeps to himself most of the time. When Gheorghe Ionescu arrives at the station on a transfer, will Johnny be able to hold up the walls he’s worked so hard to build around himself?

It may have taken a even longer because I decided that I wanted to paint the faux leather… (ft. My ugly yellow floors that makes one of my friends laugh every time she sees them and a messy desk)

Also used some embroidery floss for the headbands but I forgot to take pictures (whoops). The pink endpage is by nilhilistatari not quite sure who made the other art, sorry! (Found them! @sous-le-saule)

I finally finished the binding of Safe! You asked for pictures so here they are:

It took me a little while to finally get to printing an sewing, and then I decided I wanted to paint the faux leather instead of just hot foiling it.

The end pages are by (can’t find who made the first art piece anymore) & nilhilstatari.

Hope it’s a bit like you expected and again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for writing it!

So this made me ugly cry this morning. The wonderfully talented @dotsaremycomfortzone has bound ‘Safe’, my God’s Own Country AU, into a beautiful, beautiful little book. I can’t tell you how special this is. Thank you so, so much!

Summary: They’re not characters who say ‘I love you,’ so they call each other faggots (Francis Lee). Three scenes from the months after they come back to one another. Or, three ways they don’t say 'I love you’.

This was more difficult to write than most other fic I’ve ever worked on, because I wanted so much to do justice to the careful, reserved characterization of the film! The creator chose every word and scene and shot so precisely, and I tried to take a similar approach here, while also taking it where I wanted to go. This work is meant to flesh out what comes after the film ends, and how love and caring exists and grows between the two, without being overly sappy or vocal beyond what they could really handle. (Hence lots of sex, because that’s how they communicate).

It's Our Favorite Day, Gente! It's Alec Fanart Sunday!

This very cool God's Own Country film digital work is by tumblr artist @not-xpr-art.

This is up in the top three scenes that is most depicted by creators and with good reason. It is one of the sweetest, most poignant moments in the film and they are SO cute here.

The artist has captures Johnny's expression the moment he has quite pouting that they are in the caravan and given in to Gheorghe kissing his neck. That sheepish smile he can't help and it is just so DARLING but also revealing because, to me, you can tell how little Johnny has ever just had a moment like this with a lover. Where you are annoyed or kind of OVER THEM for something they've done that's found your last nerve, and then they know you well enough and care about you enough to coax you back into realizing, okay, they're kind of amazing and hot and care about you. Fair. He wouldn't have had that with any of the casual hook ups from before. Johnny just DISCOVERING small moments like that between them are just EVERYTHING.

And this has that energy. I love the detail of their hair, of the curtain and the fold out bed in the caravan, and just the hope of this moment, so wonderfully depicted.
