Would you be Peter, the thief or John?
I remember Good Friday service from the time that I was able to just start understanding what all the talking was about all of the readings that made us stand for what seemed like an hour, and made us say things I didn’t want to say.  We were to speak for the crowd that wanted Jesus crucified and I was in such protest of that until, well I still am.  How can I say out loud “Crucify him!” when…

We here @macabrerecordsinc #atx are hard-core Svengooliegans @realsvengoolie Tonight Sven presents: Konga (1961) directed by John Lemont and starring Michael Gough, Margo Johns and Austin Trevor. It was shot at Merton Park Studios and in Croydon for Anglo Amalgamated, then distributed in the United States by American International Pictures (AIP) as a double feature with Master of the World. Konga was the basis for a comic book series published by Charlton Comics and initially drawn by Steve Ditko (prior to Ditko's co-creation of Spider-Man) in the 1960s. The film epitomises the B-movie in terms of illogical plot and shortcut special effects, such as a man in a gorilla suit replacing special effects. Shots of screaming people looking upwards invoke the idea that they are looking up to Konga and it is not explained how the serum changes species as well as size (chimp to gorilla). We are huge fans of All Things Sven and Totally Dig this Awesome Picture posted by the Awesome created by: @monstervision2017 and created by the Magnificent: http://www.collinsporthistoricalsociety.com and again, Please Support all Artists/ Illustrators / Profiles we Showcase and enjoy the Carnage! Brain fart of day: Spice up a headline 10x by mentally replacing a single word. Example: “I took a ferry up the coast of Greenland for under $400, and despite being brutally assaulted, it was a fantastic way to see some of the most dramatic scenery on earth” (it was brutally cold)
Today I went to see a condo in a different direction than I’ve looked thus far - good old Orland Park, where I’d sometimes go for a drive from Oak Lawn when it was cold and I needed to get out of the house; where I’d sometimes go for brother purposes to the Lego Store or that one time he needed a type of flash drive we couldn’t find anywhere nearby; where I went for Product Dynamics studies a few times.
The online description was unnervingly minimalistic yet surprisingly adequate in conjunction with the pictures, so I guess good job, efficient man. I was a bit wary of meeting up with a random man from Craigslist in his home, but the guy puts two spaces after periods, and, as much as I detest that practice, I figure a man who puts that much fuss and traditionalism into typing ain’t the killing type. So I went on that familiar and enjoyable drive, through hilly little Lemont, marred for a bit by a douchey tailgater in a douchey car.
The complex was cozy and nice. I had a hard time finding the right building from my car, so I got out and circled around on foot, searching for the number 9000, and a man with a bag of cans pointed me in the right direction. The man from Craigslist was indeed not the killing type and was additionally accompanied by his fiancee - a cute introverted landlord couple that actually seemed to like me. Felt like people you’d hear on Judge John Hodgman. The condo was pretty good, and driving back home from there was the best I’d felt yet after seeing a place.
You know what's annoying? The general area of Willowbrook would probably be just about the perfect location for me, but it’s tainted by the cancer problem, so I’ve written it off.

Richie: It was so stupid, the chimpanzee turns into a gorilla, what were those people thinking, pretty bad, I guess Watch: When Free for the laughs.

Quote
While Hollywood produces studies of juvenile delinquency as thoughtful as The Young Stranger, Blackboard Jungle, The Wild One, Rebel Without a Cause and The Young Savages, the British movie response to a far smaller problem is a little explosion of hysteria. Token references are made to 'complexes' (between gritted teeth) and to bad housing, but less obvious social and cultural problems are not even intuitively sensed. The issue is felt as one of being 'tough' or being 'soft'. Lewis Gilbert's hard-line Cosh Boy (1952) expressed agonised disbelief in authority's kid glove, and saw salvation in A Good Old-Fashioned Taste Of Dad's Belt. Leslie Norman's soft line Spare the Rod (1961) is likeable in that its reformist teacher (Max Bygraves) has nothing special to offer his lads, only decent respect - yet it ends by supposing that if excessive caning were abolished all the hard cases would take to singing carols around the Christmas tree. In John Lemont's And Women Shall Weep (1959) a staunch and sturdy working-class Mum (Ruth Dunning) realizes her Teddy Boy son is a cowardly murderer, disarms him by hurling a cup of good old English tea in his face, and hands him over to the police with none of your indulgent argey-bargey, while her younger son blubbers on her breast about his idol's fall.

Uncovering Curiosities: John Lemont's KONGA
Uncovering Curiosities: John Lemont’s KONGA
Your interest in Konga will depend on your interest in old B-movies. If you think that bad acting and terrible effects mean that a movie is simply appalling then I suggest that you give it a miss. However, if you revel in camp performances, implausible plots and men in monster suits running though model cityscapes, then director John Lemont’s Konga (1961) is the movie for you. You should know…
