Field report

The over-eagerness that always comes with the first day of deer season landed me in my tree stand at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. giving me plenty of time to wonder if dawn was ever going to break.

But break it did, an inch at a time beneath a heavy sky. At first light, a small doe showed up to munch the acorns that have been falling - plopety, plop, plop - in such profusion that the scrambling squirrels hardly know which way to turn.

Two more does drifted in, then another group of eight, moms with kids in tow, joined the spontaneous acorn party just 20 yards from my stand. A good time was had by all, including this silent observer.

fortunately, he only does this when they’re at Granite Falls for the ~yearly trip~ to satisfy that wild side of his. he sees it as a “hi yes, I am a good hunter and provider of foods to feed my mate with :)” and meanwhile Brian’s like “honey, I appreciate you but omg this is a lot of meat”

Carl and the Ferris Wheel!

Keith and I both love the Ferris Wheel. It has been my favorite ride since I was a kid. Since Keith and I have been together, when we have the opportunity to ride the Ferris Wheel we take advantage. “I love seeing the view of the town from the top,” Keith said when we took a ride last weekend during the Pawnee Prairie Days.
