GCs claim to campaign for the “safety” of women and children. I’ve long suspected this was confined to the “right kind” of women and children. Kathleen Stock, a former trustee of the “LGB Alliance” (public statements of which include “adding the + to LGB gives the green light to paraphilias like bestiality…”) appeared (to me) to suggest that it would be “more honest” for high-profile trans allies to publicly “declare” if they have trans children. Her post made no mention of obtaining the children’s consent. It seems reasonable to interpret this as a call for the public outing of certain trans children. Given “out” trans children have been murdered and 64% are subjected to bullying, it strikes me as, at the very least, callous. Joey Barton, one of the movement’s most high profile (and oft platformed) voices, will shortly stand trial accused of assaulting his wife. Donald Trump, who was found by a jury to have sexually assaulted E. Jean Carroll, has increasingly made attacks on trans people a campaign talking point. The GC movement has claimed a degree of legitimacy based on previous legal successes, notably the case of Forstater v CGD Europe, in which GC beliefs were declared “worthy of respect in a democratic society”. Some seem to have interpreted this as a licence to persecute trans people. This summer three separate courts gave clear statements to the contrary. The Employment Tribunal upheld the sacking of teacher Kevin Lister after he equated being transgender (as one of his students was) with having a mental illness. The High Court upheld an order banning Joshua Sutcliffe from teaching children after he repeatedly misgendered a child in his care. In Australia, the Federal Court prohibited a dating app from discriminating against trans women. The message from the courts is clear: GC beliefs are worthy of respect, but GCs must also respect trans people. The summer of court losses also undermines the movement’s claims to expertise. High profile GC activists often hold themselves out as experts. The courts made clear that many are no such thing. Maya Forstater gave “expert” evidence in the Sutcliffe case. The judge was “not persuaded that she is properly described as an expert”, noting: “Ms Forstater explained that the use of non-preferred pronouns in this case might be due to cognitive dissonance. Mr Phillips was not, however, able to identify any medical expertise that she might have to opine on that issue.” Helen Joyce, Director of Advocacy at the GC group “Sex Matters”, purported to give “expert” evidence in the Australian case. The judge said she: “…does not have any formal education or qualifications even in biology, let alone in gender, sex or law… she is not an expert at all. She has no recognised expertise in any of the areas in which she expresses an opinion.” In April the Cass Report gave a veneer of scientific legitimacy to the GC movement’s various claims. Both Labour and the Conservatives used the report as justification to prevent trans children from accessing puberty blockers (which, contrary to popular myth, do not prevent puberty but, rather, delay its onset). Cis children are still given access. The report was swiftly rejected by medical bodies around the world. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Endocrine Society said, in a joint statement, “Medical evidence, not politics, should inform treatment decisions”. The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists followed suit. The British Medical Association called Cass’ claims “unsubstantiated”. I’d argue the report was largely debunked by a Yale School of Medicine review.

if rory and jess had tattoos, what would it be?
OOOO god umm… i think it kinda depends on the verse? like yale!jess i could so see having something in hebrew that means a lot to him (and paris might have a matching tat tbh), whereas wuib!jess would def have all his kid’s nicknames like, tatted onto his arm or something (like goober for joey, bunny for will, etc—ive thought about this a lot actually it’s embarrassing). canon jess would sooooo get rory’s initials tattooed like he’s so pathetic and smitten w her. as for rory, i’m not sure if she would get tattoos? RA!rory def would (RA!jess too, they’d both have those messy stick-n-poke tats of like, their friends’ initials and other little symbols and words and quotes that would eventually fade away w time). not bc she views them in a bad light, but just bc she’s the type of person who would wanna be 100% certain that whatever she tattoos, she’ll still love the design like 20+ years in the future, so the indecision about it would eat her alive and she’d just never commit to anything.

3 & 6 for the ask game!!
Greg Rucka - He's simply an amazing writer. I think most of the comics I own are by him and he's never missed in anything I've read so far.
Kelley Puckett - The definitive Cass writer. He just gets her.
Joey Cavalieri - Huntress (1989) my beloved
Alyssa Wong - They wrote Spirit World <3
N.K Jemisin - Loved her writing in Far Sector
I also really liked Ostrander and Yale's writing in Oracle Year One but that's the only thing I've read by either of them I'm pretty sure so I'll hold off on ranking them.
Those are my top five dc writers (unless I'm forgetting someone) and my favorite indie writers are Remy Boydell and Emily Carroll :)
My top 5 ships:
cassrose
stephcass
dickroy
dinahbabs
helenarenee
I don't ship all of them in a 'I want them to be together forever' kind of way. For a lot of them I'm like they have a lot of respect for each other and have definitely fucked (or should definitely fuck). There are a lot of other ships I like but these are probably the ones I think about the most.

My Thoughts on Issue 4: Tale Old as Time
I admit, I didn’t do issue 3 as I was busy and the problems with digital copy on Amazon made me look at spoilers before I got my physical copies and they came quite late too.
I got issue 4 a lot quicker, it was actually dispatched on Tuesday, so they arrived on Friday. The Amazon digital copy issue seems to be sorted out as well (but it was still late). So hopefully I will get Issue 5 with no problems, cross fingers
Spoilers
Here some small thoughts on Issue 3. It was still a good story, liked that Broadway was narrating and quickly figured Thailog kidnapped Maggie and Mary. Great to see Xanatos again along with Alex (who’d gotten big) and Fox (her powers are evolving more). Talon and Maggie’s baby is cute, love that he’s named after both of their Fathers. I always figured he would be human and would have lightning powers.
My favourite cover for issue 3 is, Cover D Variant Lesley Leirix Li. I just love this one.
On to Issue 4
The Art/Colouring is amazing, I love it.
.Goliath narrating, which fits perfectly for this issue, due to the ending
We meet Dino Dracon and he’s brutal. He just slammed Pal Joey’s head on the dashboard and kicked him out of the car, due to Pal Joey splashing water on his shoes. Antoinette didn’t even correct Dino when he called her Toni, so she’s definitely scared of him.
I wonder who’s watching TV, Renard perhaps.
In issue 3 we were introduced to some new characters of the other crime families and got there last names in this issue and 2 of those last names were familiar (more on that later) So, Huracan Sanchez, YingPei Choi, Grisha Volkov and Izakk Slaughter.
The Police station has been rebuilt and re opened, so I guess could be 7 or 8  months after it was destroyed. So it could be June/July.
I wonder what Margot Yale showed Matt on the clipboard, he certainly didn’t look happy about it.
The Gargoyles wake up and Goliath was about to talk to the others but they went did there own things. Brooklyn and Katana giving Gnash a history lesson, but he thinks he doesn’t need it.
I wonder what Angela and Broadway wants to talk to Coldfire about and why it’s so exciting, Mating ceremony perhaps, I’m excited now.
Poor Lex, he needs a hug, glad Goliath and Hudson noticed that the Trio are drifting apart and Lex being left out. He’s now spending time in the computer lab, I wonder if he’s online chatting to Amp.
Rosario Sanchez and Peter Choi finally appear, I recognised those last names from the episode High Noon, they saved a child from drowning. So they are secret lovers (referencing Romeo and Juliet) and there families are part of the 5 crime families, Yingpei Choi and Huracan Sanchez.
I assume the masked men in Gargoyle masks are Dino Dracon, Glasses and Pal Joey who are kidnapping Rose and Peter.
I wonder this is what Margot was showing Matt on the clipboard, that they got new choppers. I wonder what the budget was in the end because in Invitation Only, Matt said in his meeting that the Chief and the Mayor were still duking it out over their budget for the Taskforce. So it must be a very good budget to get those choppers. But maybe they could be a donation from someone.
So Goliath has been captured and he’s going to be in prison for longer than 3 issues, due to the description for issue 7.
Can’t wait for issue 5. I wonder Hudson or Brooklyn will be narrating.

JR is a fatherless boy growing up in the glow of a bar where the bartender, his Uncle Charlie, is the sharpest and most colorful of an assortment of quirky and demonstrative father figures. As the boy’s determined mother struggles to provide her son with opportunities denied to her — and leave the dilapidated home of her outrageous if begrudgingly supportive father — JR begins to gamely, if not always gracefully, pursue his romantic and professional dreams, with one foot persistently placed in Uncle Charlie’s bar. I felt like I had seen this film before, such is the predictable and monotonous nature of the story. It almost felt like a (poorer) rerun of 2020’s ‘Hillbilly Elegy‘. I will say, though, that Ben Affleck gives a very good performance in this, to the point that I actually would’ve liked to have seen a story revolving around him and his character – as opposed to who this 2021 flick is about. Aside from Affleck, I didn’t care for any of the other performances and therefore any of the other characters. It’s not even a bad film, it’s just so, so boring – for me, anyway. CinemaSerf: It’s not often I find myself writing this, but Ben Affleck is comfortably the best thing about this otherwise rather lacklustre adaptation of JR Moehringer’s autobiographical coming of age tale. It depicts the story of his childhood – through the eyes of the engaging young Daniel Ranieri – before he heads to Yale in the guise of Tye Sheridan. The first half hour, maybe, is quite entertaining. This young lad living with his mother (his selfish father is estranged from them, living the mobile life of a late night radio talk show host) in the home of his mildly eccentric grandfather (Christopher Lloyd) and their home is a lively, buzzing environment in which the youngster thrives. Chief amongst the residents is his charismatic, worldly-wise uncle “Charlie” (Affleck) who runs a local bar populated with a decent, working-class clientele who take to the young man and encourage his obvious academic talents. That half hour peters out, ...

NEW YORK RANGERS PRE SEASON CONTINUES
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By: Gerry Cantlon, Howlings HARTFORD, CT - The New York Rangers' pre-season game with the New York Islanders was canceled for Friday night and moved to Saturday, after serious flooding in NYC and on Long Island. The Rangers made roster moves sending five players - Karl Henriksson, Nicolas Brouillard, Ryder Korczak, Bobby Trivigno, and D Blake Hillman - to the AHL Hartford Wolf Pack. Hillman was released from his PTO. Adam Clendening was also released from his training camp PTO. The Rangers must get down to the CBA-mandated 23 roster players before the regular season starts. On Thursday night, the Rangers and New Jersey Devils hooked up at MSG. The Devils defeated the Rangers 3-2. The Blueshirts received very strong performances from Will Cullye, and Brennan Othmann, who both made a strong case to make the Rangers roster, and from Jonny Brodzinski for a fourth-line spot. Cullye was strong with robust, effective, physical contact and several quality shots on goal. He had a couple of quality scoring chances but was unable to put one in the net. Othmann brought the Rangers within a goal at 3-2 with 32.4 seconds left in the contest with a quick decision on a broken play (a broken stick on a right point slapper). He showed a quick release on the shot. In the first period, he picked off a Devils outlet pass and turned it into a solid scoring chance. Then in a mini-scrum in front of the Rangers' bench on a line change, he got into a tussle with the Devils' Tyce Thompson (Milford). Goalie Talyn Boyko was reassigned to Hartford on Monday. Tyler Savard, 20, is the son of Wolf Pack great, and former Ranger, and the current assistant for the Calgary Flames, Marc Savard, was picked up by the Kingston Frontenacs (OHL) from the Barrie Colts as one of their three overage players. Barrie had too many over-agers and released him. The OHL regular season begins this weekend for Savard, an undrafted left winger, who was in Ottawa’s NHL camp as an invite. Alex Pelletier (Granby/Avon Old Farms/Yale Jr. Bulldogs) commits to Cornell University (ECACHL). Ex-Pack goalie Keith Kinkaid was injured in the Devils pre-season opener in Montreal.- Former Whaler Kelly Chase has two sons in hockey.  Luke Chase leaves the Canmore Eagles (AJHL) and heads to Nipawin Hawks (SJHL). His brother Ben Chase plays college club hockey with the Arizona State Sun Devils (ACHA Division-1). His nephew, Greg Chase, is an ex-Pack who's now a pro scout with the  Philadelphia Flyers. Kyle Beach is an assistant coach at Trinity Western University  (CWUAA) (Langley, BC). The head coach is ex-Bridgeport Sound Tiger Ben Walter. Several ex-Packs play in the Canadian Senior League hockey. Among them is Steve MacIntyre from the 2004-05 season. He's with the Wetaskiwin (AB) Longhorns (NCHL), and the North Central (Alberta) Hockey League. In the same league is Matt Stefanishion (just 15 Pack games to his credit from 2008-09) who's with the Devon Barons. Garett Bembridge is with the Kenaston Blizzards Saskatchewan Valley Hockey League. Joey Leach is with the Wadena (SK) Wildcats of the Long Lake Hockey League. Also in that league is Dawson Leedahl with the Leroy Braves. In the Tigers Hills Hockey League in Manitoba is Shayne Wiebe with the Rivers Jets. Now head coaching out East in the Quebec Collegiate Hockey League Division-2 is Francis Lemieux at Vieux-Montreal. Brett Legget, who was an emergency goalie for one game and was ex-Pack’s Jeremy Williams brother-in-law is with Dundas (ON) Real McCoy’s of the Allan Cup Hockey League. Eric Selleck and Kris Newbury are both with the Gananoque Islanders of the Eastern Ontario Senior Hockey League. HARTFORD WOLF PACK HOME Read the full article

now for the in depth post comparing them because this is legitimately so hard to choose.
- Joey was created in 1984 with the express purpose of being a disabled character
- Barbara became Oracle in 1989 using Kim Yale’s experiences as a disabled person for reference
- they’re both examples of characters who became disabled later life due to being hurt. Joey when he 5-8 and Barbara when she was a full grown adult
- both have been magi-cured in someway, having their disabilities diminished or completely written off. i would write more, but i haven’t read those comics yet and don’t want to spread wrong information about canon
- Joey (as far as i’ve read) has no want to ever be ‘fixed’ of his disability and is definitely prideful in his disability (read his first appearance to NTT #43)
- Babs on the other hand… oh boy does this depend on the writer, but generally she is confident in herself and her disability. she retains much skill and we she her working out frequently in the background (read all of the New Earth BoP and here and there appearances)
i may write more soon, but this is the top of my head stuff. i’m personally voting Joey because he deserves the attention and recognition.

Matchbox Twenty feel random. I mean, their career doesn't make much sense. They're not terrible, mind you, though you keep asking yourself – how did they become so big? Well, Live In Australia might provide you with a possible answer here. When you will check the video, you shall noticed they're quite great in the setting of their tours, they even do some fine covers. Maybe that might be the reason for their success, which remains another thing of theirs some don't completely get. While the group does sound better n the halls, the band does veer a bit towards a certain generic adult contemporary mode favoured by the elder statesmen. Yes, they did achieve the status recently, yet they always felt for me like a collective that calcified their tones way too soon.
